Font sizing troubles…help?

Blogging | Posted by Jannie on 21 October 2008 @ 2:31 PM 16 Comments

I can’t seem to set my Wordpress font size to my satisfaction.   I do like this Helvetica and this approximate size but don’t want it this bold.   Problem: when I make the body font smaller in my posts, the title size gets smaller too.  But my goal is to reduce only the body’s font size.  The size of the font you are now reading I am able to set under “Paragraph” in my Wordpress’ “kitchen sink”  by highliting and applying  “Header 5″ to each post.

Otherwise this is the default size of my posts’ font.   Arrg.

Does anyone have any help to offer?  Or wine to pour?

Never used wordpress – sorry :[

Luna may have some tips on her site – http://lunastonedesigns.com/

    She’s brilliant!

Hope you manage to sort it out soon – I know how stressful it can be. Last week I deleted a little something in my template and the whole thing went strange for hours.

Not sure how to fix the font, but I know well how frustrating it can be to wrangle templates! Good luck with it! :)

I could try and take a look at the CSS sometime. It’s probably something silly in there that you could add or remove and have it work better. Otherwise, just try and find some CSS tutorials. They’d be able to help.

Wordpress seemed to difficult for my pretty little head when I started blogging…so I stuck with Blogger. But, even so, I just haven’t taken a very deep interest in the actual mechanics of blogging.

Good luck, though, and I’m sure you’ll figure it out.

And, btw, I listened to your mp3’s a couple of days ago and really liked them a lot. There is something about “I Need a Man”…. Your lyrics and your delivery are very clever and artfully done. It’s one of those songs that, while obviously very humorous, it’s impossible to tell for certain whether or not it’s filled with double entendre or if it is completely and perfectly innocent. Lots of fun.

    Jannie,

Send me your CSS file via email. (Just copy/paste it.) We’ll get this figured out.

F-ing A Matthew! A man in charge. Oh, sorry Barry, not that you are not a man in charge. Maybe not with Wordpress but I bet you are an ace with a chainsaw and axe if need be!

Sounds like you need an entry for the title, like
    #content .post h1 {font-size: 25px;}
Put that at the end. Or just have Matthew figure it out.

It does sound like a fairly easy CSS fix, a matter of changing one little number… glad Matthew is going to help you with it :)

The numbers are code for the size of the text- in html language. Where H1 or header #1 would be the largest text. if tags appear around the words that means bold in html, used in the templates, which is how I edit my ancient old blogger template. Every one else has the update…

Sometimes I find it hard to ask for help, as I am worried I’ll be rejected. So friends, your swift an deep support in this font quest really humbles me. Thank you.
