Blogging, Kelp Knitting | Posted by Jannie on 13 November 2008 @ 4:02 PM

Before I get into Thursdays… these “Carpool Kids” photos I took last Wednesday really, in my very humble opinion, seem to pop when enlarged. And I think the top of a post is a great spot to slide in a photo for maxium impact and blog promotion, don’t you?
And Bloggers, if you have any articles or posts about photos in posts, please feel free to leave said links in my comments, thanks.

THURSDAYS! I already love Thursdays because Kelly stays for afterschool, which she loves, and allows me another 2 1/2 hours to knit those kelp ball gowns and dance with my dog.
But, brace yourself (with an underwire bra, sideways,) ’cause it gets even better! Starting next week Sarah’s mom will drive Kelly to school on Thursday mornings! (She used to do Friday pick-up.)
Thursdays! 8:00 a.m to until 4:50 p.m entirely for ME !!!
But, please don’t hate me for being spoiled – remember, this is my hair in the morning.

Plus, I deserve a whole day for me, right? And I will be working of course, on songs and stuff.
And taking a 45-min bath.
I am curious… What is YOUR favorite day(s,) of the week and why?

Great pics, and thanks for the link to that post on photos in a blog. I just started doing it because I love pictures, looking at them or taking them. I like to leave them pretty raw, though. I’ll crop and adjust for light balance, maybe enhance the color balance, but nothing elaborate.
You’ve seen my blog, what do you think? Should I start thinking about Photoshop?

That rarely happened to me while the girls were young, but felt Soooo wonderful. The dumb part is when you miss your child, or worse, spend the time worrying about them!
Thursday is my fav day this week, cause it’s Day Off! Off the feet, n resting the back with no where I have to be is my fav time! Putter if I wanna, write, do whatever I feel like- no “have to s” in the way.

Hi Jannie – I love those giant butterflies.
Saturdays are my favorite day. Often my husband is working and I get to have the house to myself, no phones to answer, and I can stay in my pajamas for hours. I grab my coffee, turn on the computer, travel around blogosphere, and just chill. It’s heavenly.

Saturday, most definitely. I was unemployed last year for five months and Saturday didn’t seem that special during that time, but now that I work nine hours a day and 20 miles from home, it has taken on new meaning: Sleeping in until my kitty comes to yell at me to get up, making something special for breakfast like an egg in a hole or an everything but the kitchen-sink omelet. And a big pot of coffee. Finding a good old black and white movie on Turner Classic Movies or catching up on DVR recordings of Grey’s Anatomy or ER.

Fancy: It’s how I’m able to correct our family curse of combined fine thin flat hair + funny head shape. I think your blog pictures are always great and add to your story!
Mia: Yes, it does feel good to get time to ourselves, soemday you will and that day will be here before you know it. Does your husband work a full day on Saturday?
Karyn: That’s so sweet. I bet they are just crazy about you. For kids I think the time you concentrate on them is the biggest thing they crave. And need.
Snag: That is so true about missing my angel, even when I have the time to myself. She is so happy tho on Thursday afternoons with her buddies – I doubt she thinks of me.
Barbara: Yes, totally. Pyjamas, coffee, laptop, no phones — bliss! (Butterflies in the Botanical Gardens here in Austin.)
Pink: I shall raise my coffee cup to you from afar on Sunday and know that you are relaxing and smiling your beautiful smile.
Lynn: Wow, nine hours a day and 20 miles from home. (I feel pretty guilty now.) But your Saturday does sound divine, nothing like getting lost in those old B&W shows.
Kalyani: Zilker Botanical! Let’s take the girls there, they have 3 or 4 of those butterflies in different colors.
Thomma Lyn: Yes, you no doubt know the joy of having a full day to immerse yourself in creating your music. I feel very blessed about it too, especailly now that I am gearing up for a CD release.
Suzie: I can only guess you’re funning, right? The other 5 weekday mornings I have the 35-40 minute drive to her school, in heavy traffic. Go running, and drive home again. Luckily my car is very fuel efficient. Too bad it wasn’t an auto-pilot one!

Lucky you, I remember those first days of freedom and my choice activities and until I filled them up they were great.
My best days are when I feel great, can write all I want to, and someone else takes responsibility for food. My once a year favorite day is Christmas Day because my honey takes kids skiing after stockings, and I read all day and make then a lovely dinner and then we share our gifts. I have a friend who owns a bookstore pick out my read for the day so it is a surprise and I don’t have to think or decide. It is lovely and the kids love it, and my guy thinks its great! Peace reigns.

You deserve a day to yourself – I think everyone does. I’ve always cherished hours – sporadic and unplanned – when I have time for myself…no obligations, no interruptions, no nothing…just whatever strikes my fancy. Those unexpected hours tend to stretch so that they become huge (like summer vacations when you were a kid…it seemed a week lasted at least a month)…and so those hours become my favorite days…

Mama Zen: It sounds like you are a busy wonderful mom. Enjoy the “Me” time you do get.
Debbie: It does sound like a luxury. And I’m sure deservedly so. I almost stayed in my p.j.s the other day to drive carpool. Almost.
Teacher Dude: I am appropriately flattered by your praise for my humble work. (psst, I kinda like Mondays too ’cause my schedule resumes but don’t tell anyone. )
Wade: I actually do not know Friday On My Mind. I remember Gentle On My Mind, I’ve Got A Mind To Kick Your Butt, and Mind Yer Own Beeswax. But not Friday On My Mind. Sorry.
Vered: Sounds like you guys have the whole weekend for fun? I like when my hubby comes home too – he’s so huggable and cute.
Patricia: Your Christmas day tradition sounds so wonderful. Is that cross-country skiing? That’s one of my favorite winter activities, don’t get to do it in Austin but I remember the thrill of it well. (Even if I was a size 7 shoe and I had to wear my mom’s size 8s with a hole in the left small toe.)
Shay: Hey postie-girl. Easybeats, eh? Never heard of them. Do you and your dogs run free in the wilds of Michigan on Sundays? I can picture your long hair flying in the wind as you fling frisbees and slobbery tennis balls.
Talon: That was a very poetic account you did and exactly how I feel about my free time too. Thank you.
Georgie B: Is thre anything better than grocery shopping without kids jumping in and out of the cart and asking for something every 12 seconds that you can’t even hear yourself think? And I visted your photo link. Who could ask for better friends than those?
Stacey: An inspiration? Really, you think? I was thinking more along the lines of pretty spoiled but then again I am used to the American way of always having to do, produce, work, work, work.
Caity: S-A-T-U-R-D_A-Y ! A million songs have been written of its virtues and all true. I shall be posting more butterfly bench pix! I took others but they turned out blurry.
Erin: Chocolate in the house! I’m there. Your kids are older than mine, I imagine grocery shopping gets much better as children age and (Hopefully,) mature?
Lance: Remember Kramer and Mr. Kostanza were working on the “Manzierre.” Maybe these were underwired? Fridays, of course – you seem like a Friday kind of guy.
Ella: Someday, my lovely dear, you shall be sitting with feet up on a Saturday morning, sipping finest fair-trade coffee and so pleased with yourself to have two wonderful self-sufficient daughters. I used to HATE Saturdays, literally, and this will sound really bad — because I had no break from my very high needs child that day. And I could live through Sunday because I knew she would be back at pre-school the next day. (Lord, forgive me for having had such weak thoughts back then. I was an ungrateful sinner.)
teahouseblossom: Ain’t it all so visually pleasing? Glad I could give you something to enjoy.
Michael: Yes, your posts are all motherfrigging long, but I enjoy each and every one of them!
Shay: I know I pay almost $40 for my sports bras. I buy maybe 3 a year. The one I have on now is blue. Sky-denim-eyeball blue.
Cath: Thanks for all. Oh yeah the link over at Liz’s blog, that was such a surprise. It was from something I left in a comment and I got a link – whee-hoo. And yes, you are a blogging guru for me and many people. Thanks.
Stephanie: This is your day then! Enjoy. It’s Sunday at 9:51 a.m. as I finish this comment and prepare to post.

Well, here is # 43, I think. Favorite day…hmmmm, yeah, I fall into the Saturday gang. Most of us wage slaves try and stay up on Friday night, but are too exhausted by the work week to really get into the groove, so we sleep in a bit on Saturday morning; what my wife and I call “laying up”. She will read in bed for a couple of hours while I bring her hot chocolate. I lounge in my pj’s until noon, reading, watching movies (I am a movie buff and own 12,000 of them, cluttering up my whole basement with shelves. Once upon a time I was a professional actor, but that’s another story.) We are teachers, so the lazy Saturday routine is sacred. Our three daughters are grown up and out of the nest. Friday is a close second for me, and I do feel elated all day knowing the wunderbar weekend is on the horizon.
