3 poems and a child in a tree (now with preamble)

Poetry | Posted by Jannie on 26 November 2008 @ 12:56 PM 27 Comments

Three hours ago I jolted awake after two straight months of Super Blogging to realize the camping gear (from early October,) and the Halloween stuff could maybe go back in the garage to make room for the Christmas tree.
So I clean house today.
And introduce you to my hubby’s new radio station website I put together last week, which will do in a pinch.  And let me tell ya – it’s been a pinch, as we have to file an intervention with the Canadian Radio and Television Commission by Dec. 18th.  But whatever happens, it’ll be for the best.  Maybe our radio station could go satellite only?  Any way you look at it, my Jimmy rocks (is quite handsome and has majorly gravity-defying buttocks.)

Above… a preview of the “Thankful Unveiling” I’ll post tomorrow if Wordpress plays nice and lets me put in all the photos I want. Jim started building that “Backyard Adventure” in March and it’s now finished on the exterior. (Yay, Jae!)

Now, on with 3 poems and a child in a tree and back to my cleaning mission!
The Migraine
light pounds
thoughts pound
large fonts pound
small fonts pound
a jet 5 miles up pounds
a scratching mouse 2 rooms away pounds
but breathing might not pound
so I fall into it
float on it
feel it
eat it
drink it
taste it
digest it
hoping it will
make me whole again
and eventually after sleep it does
The Kung Fu Instructor
The Kung Fu instructor is inscrutable.
If only he’d come right out and
say he loves me or he hates me
I could get on with this business
of being the me I think I am.
My Cat Thinks He’s A Rooster
My cat thinks he’s a rooster.

Love the tree house…never had one, always wanted one.

The site is great…very well done. Clean and easy to use.

Migraines sound like horrible beasts. Glad that sleep, once you immerse in it, helps to ease the pain.

I’m really curious about the cat. A cat with rooster behaviour would be a very curious cat indeed!

    Good luck with the cleaning!

Miles: Yes, a dim gong goes off now about you and radio. I must e-mail you to inquire as to what your involvment with it was.

Lance: Thanks. I’ll hit you up next week to sign the petition, will only take a minute to fill out.

Talon: The cat crows at the break of dawn. Did I mention how much I love The Cat, ridiculously so, actually.

Mom: And I can’t wait to post the finished thing — it’s sooooo cute. And off now to see what you’ve posted!

Jannie, I’m blushing at my own silliness. I totally forgot about that aspect of the rooster. Instead, like the silly fool I am, I imagine your cat strutting about on her/his hind legs, head bobbing back and forth – lol!

I have two cats. Thankfully, neither is a rooster. They are, however, convinced they are royalty.

Jim: Yes, his eyes are kind but one never knows where one stands, except the kids. If he’s not yelling at them it’s a good sign they’re doing well.

Christmas Party: Who are you, another friendly spammer? Or a real person who found me by Googlinng “My cat thinks he’s a rooster.”

Talon: I did leave it quite mysterious and open to interpretation, didnt I? Please don’t blush, altho I bet you look awfully cute doing so.

Lisa: Yes, it’s turning out quite nice I think. My husband, in addition to being handsome and having those g.d. buttocks, is a wonderful designer and builder!

Ella: Thanks. Yeah, Kelly went through a faze last spring where she’d spend hours up there, reading, writing, eating. And she tied herself in with a skipping rope!

Carla: Jim actually came home with a tree a couple of days ago. And now that I’ve got a space cleared for it we can put it in the stand and let the branches settle for a couple of days. And decorate it. Early. One year (before Kelly, ) we didn’t put up our tree until Christmas Eve and I tried my best to leave it up until Valentine’s day and hang little hearts on it but around teh first of February it had lost most of its needles so I never reached my goal.

CSquared: I can’t wait to reveal it, have to find some AA batteries for my camera today. And hope for sunshine for nice shots.

Shay: how about “My cat turned into a cupcake so I ate him.” :)

Well, in the first poem, if you notice then the last characters of the last lines make a semi-circular curve — kind-a gave the impression you did come full circle after all :) ))
The 2nd poem has the intensity of a great intense writer like Tennesse Williams — that line you know — ‘If only he’d come right out and
say he loves me or he hates me
I could get on with this business
of being the me I think I am.’

    Intense and mind-blowing!

And that that one line is a poem tells quite a lot abt your rooster of a cat!

My little brother and I built treehouse when I was 14 and he was 8. Finished it was more like a spinally platform with no roof and some bannisters, with pieces of 2×4’s for a ladder. It was a great summer. If we would have had a master carpenter available like your hubby, we would still be living in it.

Love your poems. May I post them on my site? I would love to share them with others.

Caity: Thanks, Girl. My house got all nice and clean and not it’s not so clean again – how did that happen??

Rhett: Yeah, total Tennessee Willams, that’s me! Thanks for noticing :) No, but seriously, thanks. And that poem does end up in a semi-circel of LUUUV, doesn’t it?

Glenn: Don’t mind if you post my poems at all, if you could do it with a link back I would sure appreciate it, gotta keep that blatant self-promotion going and all.

Schizo: Thank you for coming by, I saw you on Liz’ SOB list and imagine my great joy to find such good writing at your site. Sorry ’bout your migraines. Do you get them often? I have maybe one every 1 or 2 months but I had 2 in the space of a couple weeks and it SUCKED!

Something about Kung Fu makes me nostalgic for my aikido and tai chi experiences. Martial arts can be an effective path to reinforce inner peace. The way you compose poetry reminds readers how asian traditions bring out the best in each person, once they awaken to their own untapped, inner power. Thanks for being such a blessing to the world. Sharing as you do is marvelous!
