Three Good Things

Friends | Posted by Jannie on 15 December 2008 @ 6:47 PM 48 Comments

[Edit:  The shorts pix were actually taken a couple months ago, Kelly and her dad at Lowe's store getting treehouse stuff.  Yesterday was in the mid 70s but today is is too freaking cold at 31 degrees for anything but warm clothes!  Oh, that's 31 Farenheit, friends!  Not that lovely Centigrade.]
I’ve been delighting in a blog by a fellow big-eyed gal for a long long time now, for like… almost two months!  What a great place to hang out ’cause no matter how hard the fit may be hitting the shan elsewhere, Lynn only posts good things.  Three a day.  Every day.  Like:
–  “Seeing my kitty’s happy face that I am home.  Even though she was well looked after by friend Leisa, she missed having me to boss around.”
–  “The scent of garlic in the air when entering the church and enjoying a delightfully garlicky meal of lasagna and garlic bread at the church dinner.”
–  “This morning on the back porch a butterfly landed on my lap, startling both of us. It flew to a nearby tree to collect itself.”
Pretty wonderful, eh?  Hope you will pop in and see her at her blog.  Her spirit reminds me a lot of my good buddy Jae here in Austin who has recently started a Wordpress blog.  (Jae, when ya gonna let me link you up?  No pressure, Babe.  No pressure.)

And now… Three Good Great Things from Jannie!
1.  That husbandly guy in the photo above, he arrived back safe and sound from Canada a few hours ago.  Yay!!!!!
2.  Those Christmas parcels above?  I mailed them to Canada this morning!  (And they cost about $5.00 less each to send than I’d budgeted for, whee-hoo.)  Was going to send only gift cards but added in a few small trinkets for that personal touch, Kelly had “finger crocheted” necklaces, royal purple color, for all family members, grandpa Duncan included.  Will have to post a jpeg of him wearing that someday.
3.  That Child depicted above and below, she really likes her dad and me, actually likes hanging around with us.   Says she wouldn’t trade us for any other mom and dad in he world.  Well, If that don’t beat all!
And, of course, in the interest of Wild Comment Conversation, I ask you,  “What are three good things in your world these days?

Three good things in my world today? Hmmmmm……

    1) My blog. Best thing that ever happened to me.
    2) My family. Best thing that ever happened to me.
    3) Gainfully employed (for the time being). If the dreaded L(ayoff) word happens, I will hope that I survive it and inflict a little payback if necessary

And now for something completely different.

I notice in the pictures above, everyone is either wearing shorts or a short/skirt combo.

I’m so jealous. Here I am, stuck in CT with temps in the 40’s, and you show a picture of people in summer wear.

    WAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!

    3 good things?
    1.Jack Daniels
    2. Xanax
    3. muscle relaxers

These 3 things (especially when mixed together) can make a traffic accident turn into 1 of 3 good things in your life. Due to my bountiful gift of optimism I will add 3 more good things in my life.
    1. a wreck in the company van which was largely due to a combo of Xanax and muscle relaxers.
    2. tomorrow morning’s therapy appointment to discuss my Xanax induced traffic accident
    3. a naive Geico rep. that is easily charmed and, or seduced.

Okay, I better clear something up here. I am always joking about drinking and drugs……….it is all talk sister. It is sorta an inside joke with me. However, the wreck did happen, it was a company vehicle, and i was VERY sober because i was hauling clients with me. My job requires me to transport clients at times…..don’t know if you understand all that.

Oh, and I really do have an early appointment with my therapist in the morning………….ahhh my confused life. Perhaps I should capitalize on all my woes and write a book.

    3 Great Things:

This will be whatever pops into my head first since it’s 5:44 am here and I’ve been up all night with insomnia:

    1) Meeting blogger friends like you, blogging in general, finding a purpose (blog-related again), using past hardships/adversity for a purpose (OK… that #1 was really 4 but you know me, Jannie, can’t be concise!

    2) I still have a few quiet minutes left (in my nice warm house) before my wonderful family wakes up and my computer time comes to a close for now, I am very fortunate to have a roof over my head at all, I am not out in the cold, windy morning (wish no one else were either!)… OK, multiple answers again… So much to be thankful for, what can I say?

    3) My family who I wouldn’t trade for anything in the world! (I can’t improve on that one… so I’ll just let it be)!!

Kelly is just that perfect mixture of part Jannie and part Jim, and I agree that she is almost too cute, and probably gets her way more than she should because of it. Though, lest we forget, she was guilty of some lip slinging not long ago. Welcome home, Jim!

Three good things in my world……
    1) My grandsons Ethan, age 2+, and Austin, age 1+, who along with our oldest daughter, Chrystal, have been staying with us for several months. When I am downstairs the giggles, thumps, cries, bangs, and kiddy bellering fill the air with joy.
    2) My child bride, Miss Melva, who is ten years younger than I. We have been hitched for 16 years now, and this is her third marriage, and my second. She completes me and keeps me in line. She is less impressed and never intimidated by my fussing, and likes the twinkle in my eyes.
    3) Like so many of the other commentors, blogging is now a high point of my day, morning, and night. One never knows what mischief Jannie will be up to, or what direction she will tilt the conversation off into. Finding new folks out there, out here, and making new friends, is a huge dividend for just keyboarding and clicking our way across the net.

Of course one cannot forget about sex, ice cream, naked women, bra flinging, movies, music, and sunrise and sets as well, enit?

you have way too much “Southern Belle” going on to be Canadian. There is a movie that Jodi Foster and Mel Gibson play in (can’t think of the title), she plays the part of a Southern lady, the big flowing dresses and carrying parasols. I can’t help but think of those movie clips when i hear you say certain things.

Well, my hair was nice for a day! What is it with hair, you have to be constantly at it?!

Lisa: Why have I never actually watched that all the way through? Hubbys being around is very good! I’ve seen those shakes advertised, it it were summer I’d try it. Kind of a wimp here, eh?

Aimee: He’s a man of many moods (and talents!)

Lance: Do you have wood and oil? I bet she does an awesome job! A sliding hill, how dare you taunt me with what I do not have. ;)

Abra: Nothing like having exercised! How often do you tan? Love is good, I love each and everyone of mine too, even the crochetedy distant uncles. (Just kidding, each one is wonderful.

Mia: When are you going away? Sounds WONDERFUL! And much deserved, I know.

Tammy: No I did not realize you are a human transporter. The acciden must’ve been very unsettling, to say the least. you okay? Never seen a shrink (yet.) Thought about it a long time ago but managed to work it out with luv.

Justagirl: Thank you! I had sooooo much to do with her cuteness. Yes, Lowe’s in our second home and has been for a long time!

Talon: You are WONDERFUL!!! (As if you never knew I felt that way already.) Were the squirrels having breakfast or you during the chasing?)

Weyrd1: You know I spent my first 26 years in eastern Canada, right? Say no more on the “cold front”!

Cricket: In the packages? I am not alowed to say due to the Top Secret Canadian / U.S. Interpol case I’ve been working on. Oh no, I’ve already said too much.

Jeanne: I don’t see how you could improve on those either!! Who could want for more, except lack of physical pain for you, that I wish.

Lynn: You are the inspiration for this post. THANK YOU!!!!!

Sheila: No cardboard box, eh? That’s a blessing. Colds — are you OCD about washing your hands? I am and I haven’t had a cold in some years.

Shay!!!!!! TELL ME MORE!!!!!!!!!!! TELL ALL!!!!!!!!!! You’ve got my e-mail address, Baby.

Debbi: Yeah I was quite put out that they stopped taking cows too. Bessie likes a day out, just like anyone.

Tess: WELCOME! You are so kind to pop in. I will for sure be over to your blog soon. (Don’t tell anyone but I mirrow your #1 sentiment. Flyin free – very good! A 10-K, eh. You go, Girl!!

Glenn: Very perceptive of my little one being 50/50 Jannie-Jim. What an angel blessing, as you know little girls are. And I loved every single last other line of your comment!! What a great life you must lead.

Karyn: You nephew called for you – wow! How sweet and wonderful. The more of you the more I see what a speial person you are.

Aunto Lo: I can’t believe you’re blogging already with a few-days-old baby in the house. That’s DEDICATION!! You take all the advantage of that family slew you can!!! And enjoy your new baby joy.

NikkiC: I did miss him a lot, was weird having to be “the grown-up” for a whole week. Yeah amazing — out of all the parents she could have, we’re still her top choice.

Thomma Lyn: You are kicking some Heart’s Chalice and mumsical buttock over on that mountain of yours, awesome!! And Happy Birthday. xo (Hope you’ll come for a book singing in Austin???)

Jannie: You kicked butt getting that Wii even if you did forget to pay the power bill. xoxo

Tammy: I did not see that movie. And yes, I can do a Southern accent better than Jodie Foster, Sandra Bullock and Dennis Quaid all combined! (I’ve actually traded my parasaol in for a massive Winchester.)

MamaZ: Thanks. Bean are good! But do you ever find it’s a bit chilly when you get out of that bath? And heare, a few Hallelujahs! Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah.

Vered: Big fan of hot chocolate here too! I usually just heat up the old Silk soy choc milk, they think I slaved all day ;)

Glenn: I had a big James Garner crush, if it’s the same Rockford Files one. (Hey, we only had 2 t.v.stations as kid, I was somewhat limited in my choices of crush.)

MamaZ: What!!! Something else for me??? OMG, what can it be? I’ll get over there tonight when all but the mice are in sweet slumber.

Urban Panther: Yeah, my kind fo a day!! No little kiddies around for you to entertain, I guess? Thanks for popping by here. I sure do appreciate it and will be back to see you too.

Glenn Again: I need to get back over there, haven’t visited anyone’s blogs in like, over 36 hours!!!!! Went a huntin’ for a Wii. Will for sure check out her MP3s.

Glenn Yet Again ;) Yeah, I don’t know what happens to thsoe ads sometimes, they just up and disappear from the Gods that are Google. Google-eyed gods? But let me write the word bra in a post, even in the smallest available font, way off to the corner and and back the likes of The Bra Club will come a-flinging from whence all bras ads come.

Particia: Ain’t it a great idea for a post?! Thank you for all. From the 12 songs on the CD I’d say 5 are great, 5 are good and the other 2 do not totally suck.

Snag: Mabye I’ll be okday when she’s 13, ’cause she aready hated me when she was 4?

Lane: Henry of the Orient, sounds like a movie Jim would not like, artsy? So I’ll probalby love it.

Carla: Me too so many, our pretty Christmas tree, this blog, my health, my family, my friends, the power being back on, a late lunch soon of bagel and chive c.cheese. And even more!

A massive Winchester huh? You have taken the Southern Belle thing to a whole new level. I don’t think that is Southern charm, more like Texas tyranny. :)

    Ah.. three things…..

    1. The sweet little limp cuddles of my baby when she’s finally settled down to nurse and has dozed off while doing so. It’s getting rarer and rarer with her distractability these days.

    2. The smell of a real Christmas tree

    3. Comfy cool evenings with hot cocoa and a fire (I <3 having a fireplace)

    Cindy’s last blog post..Enough already!

Wow 46 comments but there ’s a lot to go through here, family and holiday – friends to meet etc. I’ve got to go through your friend list here. They love you because you’re lovable!

Tammy, you’ve heard of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre? That’s got nothin’ on me. (Kidding, kidding.) Sort of.

Miladysa: Crisps, lemonade, sleep. In that order for me tonight. Two down and one to go.

Cindy: Distractibility, eh? She sounds like a very very smart girl. And of course, cute as a button from her pix yesterday. Yes, the smell of a real Christmas tree, um um good. But please, don’t mention cocoa, my tummy is so full or chips and lemondade. But there’s always tomorrow.

Joy: Ah shucks. To be called loveable by one of the best poets I know – I am living a fine fine dream here indeed.
