Something funny…

… at least to me it is.
Just laffed my asssets off at this post on a blog I love, 100 Words A Day.  Said post does have a strong cuss word in it, but if you can handle that I think you’re in for a laugh.
I love that blog.  It ranges from humor to poetic prose to downright TMI, but the good kind of TMI – humans exposing frailties and such.
And most of their posts do NOT have cuss words in ‘em, just in case you are delicate about that sort of thing because I know most of my dear Jannie Funster readers are purer than the freshest fallen snow.  :)

Like your picture and that post is funny. She should just get rid of it…maybe it’s just trying to tell her it’s time. Your comments (to her post) as usual just leave me shaking my cheeks in laughter (face cheeks).

Only you would find something as funny as this. I have never even found a four leaf clover in my life. MMMM….

I had to laugh with this one. I am not sure if it was that funny or I am just a little wacky from all the Christmas cheer. Ha…not really.

Now that all of the Christmas wishes are over HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I am looking at my picture on my comment above and I think I need a new one. I look like a funeral home parlor.

Hey! I love that you say the word “cuss.” I’m from the Deep South, and when I first moved up to the NE all of my friends made fun of me for using that word. And now they all use it, too!

Mia: Just Googled four-leaf-clover images and lo – a perfect one indeed. Too bad I don’t Photoshop, I’d show it with one petal fallen.

Natural: I think 100 Words A Day would be a wonderful challenge, I might try it for a week, see how it goes. You have to really cut to the bone with only 100 words.

Cricket: I don’t find your photo funeral home-y at all. To me it is like a heavenly garden where we would share some tea spiked with tequila.

Patricia: I thought it was very well written indeed. The clover, the clover, the gosh-darn clover. Blame it on that fallen petal.

Teahouseblossom: I guess I picked up “cuss” here in Texas. Like fixin’, y’all and sure don’t.

Carla: “Ditch it” is such a lovely euphemism for that naughty, naughty swear word, isn’t it?

Shay: My dear Shay, it was exactly pure little you I was most worried about offending with such strong language and I see my fear has come true. If ever you can forgive me, I hope you’ll come back here some fine day.

Heather: I fucking thought so too!

MamaZ: Did you make it out alive and unsullied??

Caity Of The Angel Voice: Sorry this fell so hard on the heels of your church solo.

Poor Catherine. Sounds as if she had a rough year. What a bittersweet slap in the face it is when your superstitious trinket of luck also gives you the finger- The sweet part being that she’ll laugh about it later and tell it as one of those amusing, self-deprecating stories that people divulge at cocktail parties or over coffee. The stuff of life! :)

I guess that’s why we have superstitions…much nicer than thinking we’re random recipients of random events.

Years and years ago, my mother gave me a four leaf clover — can’t recall where it came from now — and I put it in my wallet in a plastic cover thingie…and forgot about it until a year or so later when I was cleaning the wallet out and there was this brown crumbly thing in plastic…took me a while to remember what the heck it was. I guess my luck dried up!

Don’t toss the clover – might be the luck is tucked inside the remaining leaves and the bad luck is now used up!

Awwww, thanks guys & gals for reading! And for not feeling bad for me, but thinking it’s hilarious. Because it kind of is. I plan to ceremoniously dispose of the clover on January 1. It looks pretty much EXACTLY like the pic that Jannie posted.

Any good ideas for ritual clover sacrifice? Throw it off a tall building? Run it over with the car?

Aimee: Well put. Just a great piece of writing I thought. And the word twist at the end sounded like something I’d say.

Talon: My uncle Ken, Dad’s older brother by 5 years (and one of only two of Dad’s remaining siblings out of 8,) had an uncanny knack (ability, luck,) of finding a four leaf clover every time he looked. Every freaking time. I never even found one! What do you make of that?

Georgie B: I swear 99% of the posts on 100 Words A Day are of the non-cussing and not even that very ranting nature. I am just amazed there are not like, at least 50 comments per post – it’s such a freaking great find of a blog. (Like yours xo)

Rhett: You rascal you! I had noooo idea.

Catherine!!! I don’t know you from Eve and am not sure how I stumbled on you guys’ blog but the writing is great and yes, this post really struck me as funny. At least you made others laugh. In answer to how you should rid yourself of said clover on Jan. 1st, I’ll pose the query to my readers tomorrow in a post. Jannie Funster’s pals have amazingly interesting imaginations, I bet they will have many varied and equally viable and wild suggestions as to how to set the offending petal, and thus yourself free. And is that weird or what the photo I found is similar to your actual clover.

I have one of those clovers pressed in glass on a necklace. I better check to make sure all of the leaves are in tact. If not, that could explain at lot.

Definitely toss that clover. Catherine’s post was hilarious. I will have to add that one to my fav’s list.

Stephanie: It was funny. There are several writers on that blog’s team. Real high quality stuff. (Check your clover, for sure. Make sure is intact.)

Talon: I’ll probably never know what it is with Uncle Ken and his four-leaf-clover luck. And as to Uncle’s health, all my dad’s siblings smoked. But Dad didn’t. And all have had heart attacks except Dad. He and Uncle Ken were the boys who have kept their farms, each staying active over the years. Uncle quit smoking along time ago, took up chewing gum and munching mints instead. Maybe all that research about not smoking and staying active might carry some weight after all. (Dad, now 72, chopped down, hauled from the woods, split and stored his 10 cords for the winter. Come to think of it, he’s done that every year of his adult life.) Makes his own hay too of course. And dances the fandango every other Friday.
