Typos are an effective way human beings are creating entirely new languages. Amazing how many people become literate and even fluent, by following the same lead. This shatters the cultural myth that only certain people are skilled at learning and retaining languages. Bah!

Jannie- you crack me up. I love these. I needed a good laugh. Oh, and I have been a bit drifting around for the past few days. Class just started back last Thursday and I am trying to stay totally ahead of the game, I am fighting for another semester of a 4.0. I am taking some tuff classes this go-round so I am not so sure I can pull it off.

But if I hit below a B, I will have to jump off a bridge or something.

Anyway I have been pooping in and out (no, that was not a typo, I was just flowing with your blog here) and in the process I am having to do some catching up on how your ukulele song. So how’s that working for ya?

And you are going to give me the big head over this song thing so stop it. I am really not all that and a bag of chips I can tell ya. I get writers block all the time.

Marelisa: I think I went “off to bad” many many years ago.

Nikki: Hey, good one! And you were even brave enough to post it – way to go!

Evelyn: Yeah, the boring ones get left behind and I bet they are quite sad about being left out.

Tess: Ukulele Songwriting winner being announced tomorrow!!! Wheee-hoooo!!

Tammy: 4.0 wow! Rockin’!! Really rockin, actually. And please do not undersell your song talent, you have it, real as rain. Wish I’d discovered I could do it at your age. Ahhh, but it is all good and age is just a mind-freak anyway.

Heff: Really? Whoa, coming from the Heffinator, that is a pretty big conpleemint.

Jessica: You are not the only one it seems! wink wink.

Talon: I love your line – heavenly, I’d not thought of that. An ambrosia recipe maybe?

On 21 January 2009 at 8:42 am Glenn Buttkus said,

Here is one of the poems using the non-sequiter words:

    Pride’s Whisper

It was the time of Rityp
    and all through the Hogan,
tucked in dark folds and corners
one could see the hasyna bloom,
as the terrible wind howled proceeding
    the tiotypen thunder, crackling loud
right through the thick swaboll hides
like a runaway herd of cosorses,
    heads down, trampling everything
    in their shaggy path.

I stood outside wearing the warmth of
my buckskin hydeamp, preventing the pounding
ice pellets from chilling me to the bone—
for even a shaman, an elder tribiluk
will shiver when caught in winter’s maw.

“I am Votoectr,” I bellered in my small voice,
but the wild wind just tore at my braids
and clenched its teeth to my song.

“You are nothing,” moaned the torrent of the air,
    “Less than the red alkie beneath your moccasins;
never forget I am Zieseabo, the god of wind,
master of storms—even the mighty swaboll
will not attempt to fly against my will!”

I bowed deeply to him, my feathers bending,
    my ribbons descending, and fled
back to my stone hearth, to my fire,
and sat hunched over and cramped as my fists stayed clenched all night.

    Glenn Buttkus December 2008

Actually, come to think of it, you read this one over on FFTR, and made a comment. Maybe you just didn’t realize it was a trickster jokester variety.

Thomma Lynn: I love that one too!! Your mind is a weird as mine, love it!

Tammy: You think I loved you before?? I’m totally smitten now!!!!!!!!!!! NOt that age really matters but for some reason it makes me happy that you are not 19. Why is that?

Patricia: Never late, as the party is open 24-7 here and you are always a very beloved and welcome person here.

Dot: Those little rabbids are on a calendar I got for Christmas. I love them too. Kelly had one just like it but he peed on the bed (MY BED,)all the time and he took to chasing and biting her. We all cried when went to a good home with no kids.

Glenn: I do remember that one! Because I thought it really was, IS, a work of art. The trickstering is good, yes, but the serious truths piercing through the joked veneer grip my little brain and I have not learned the self-defense moves for such latching-ons yet, thus have no choice but to bow my shaggy head into the brunt of your wordstorm. I really really like YOUR writing.

Wade: I may have been 5 or 6 when that show was on but I do remember it. Clem hopped over a rope or something when a bell rang? Or vice versa? Pretty fuzzy on that memory.
