And the ukulele song winner is…

Me! (Yes, Me – Jannie!)

Please don’t hate me (remember I have to suffer the perming-of-the-bangs every 3 months to keep from looking like something from Planet Gorpio,)  but… inspired by your creative energies, I stumbled upon my very own ukulele song idea and ran with it.

You guys shared some really really cool ideas for ukulele songs and I THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH. The following Four Funstering Friends even went so far as to come up with entire song lyrics for this fest…  Feel Free To Read – Glenn,   Feel Free To Laugh – Doug Palmer (Lane Savant,)   Exit Stage Right – Snaggletooth and Ink Marks On A Blank Page - Robbi.  Robbi and Glenn actually submitted TWO whole songs!  Plus Jung’s Programme Notes – Miles and Deeper Issues – Dot  offered complete verses.
But out of the big blue sky fell an idea I hope will work.  I’m still honing the second verse but I’ll post the lyrics very soon — maybe as early as Friday.  And I may even re-solicit your songwriting charms, as I’m not sure yet about the bridge.
The finished song will of course, be lovingly show-cased on YouTube sometime.  Yep, with me singing it.  (Help us all, Lord.)
Anybody got a $20.00 good used uke for sale, non-plastic?   I can pay up to $9.95 for S & H.

You go, girl! It is only apparent and appropriate that your very own Peeps out here in Funsterland came through with many “ideas”, but the bottom line is that ALL you really needed was the inspiration to create your very own lyrics, and your very own music. I agree that is the way to go. Much of the stuff that showed up was hilarious, and all of it was fun. This blog is the highpoint of many of our mundane days; gives color to the grayness of being a wage slave. You are much cuter than Tiny Tim, although George Michael might disagree.
I like what Lance said, that yes, YOU are a winner, but then so are WE, just for being your creative and loyal peeps.

Ahhh, here I be — had a great day so far. Finished the lyrics to the uke song (will post at 7:14 a.m.)and had a darn good guitar lesson.

Now my pretties, what was it you were saying??

Miladysa: Yep, it would appear I will veer myself in that general direction. I’ve not YouTubed yet but I think I could ease myself into it somehow.

Talon: I was blessed and amazed at how I got an idea to go with a melody I already had. I pretty-much knew where the word ukulele could fit in the refrain. And I got it! Wheeee-hoooo! I should put out a songwriting vibe call every time I’m stuck. You guys are the best!

CSquared: I just might put that in a song about who is Jannie Funster. With the bra flinging too! Thanks for the idea.

Sheila: Ahhh, did ya miss me? I missed you too!

Miles: Sarah Palin is one of my heroines, so be nice to her. Actually, a cool songwriting thing is to take an existing melody and totally replace the lyric with your own, then replace the melody with your own too. Not that I’ve ever done that but it was an exercise someone tried to force me into once. I took no truck with that shennanigans, I tell ya!

Caity: I’m kind of excited about it!! The lyrics will be up tomorrow.

Patricia: That’s right, ukes make you puke. Sorry. And no need to thank me for pooping on over to your blog – I really like it there.

Dot: I hope so (she says with bated breath.)

Liara: Yes, I am one who gets melodies very easily and often try to fit the lyric in after. This one worked out so good (I say with humility.) After I got the basic idea the words just tumbled on in!

Belle: I’m now due for the perming of the bangs. It usually turns out not too fried.

Robbi: Oh my god – you got your site URL in there correct! scuse me while go faint from joy (his link was not quite all there before. Altho he is and has been. I think :) All there, I mean.) I been to Kennebunkport – freaking impressive real estate.

Leon: I’m doing almost too good. Just waiting for the crash. And you?

Weyrd1: Ahh, but you must wait until tomorrow to hear the catch in the song. No tuning will be necessary.

Georgie B: Thanks, maybe from two angles do I surpass Tiny Tim in what our society considers physical attractiveness.

Davina: I am soooo bursting to let a kitten out of the bag but you will have to wait. Sorry! But it won’t be too long, just about 14 hours from when I post this comment.

Barbara: You holding your breath? ooooooo, excitement.

Mama Zen: Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love ya tomorrow!!

Rhett: Been missing your writing. As my pal and astoundingly Great Poet Joy Leftow says, write and your muse will invariably show up. I think you got songwriter in you, Rhett. I know you do!! That poem about gassy Sally. Sit down with an instrument and 2 or 3 chords and the melody will hit you. I promise.

Well, now that I got the song I know a uke will float into my life. Yeah, Craigs list for sure! (Thaink god the song came along.)

Shay: That freaking rocks!! But of course, I am not surprised, you’ve got one wicked mind in your stunning bran. And brain!!!

K: It was like magic when I got it. And I got another song written! (Or at least the concept for it and that’s 90% of the “battle” for me.

Jannie: Thanks for stopping by your own comments.

Lance: At first I felt kind of bad that I liked my own idea best, but I got over it. Tomorrow Lance! Tomorrow!!

Glenn: Will you like, come here and say stuff like that for the rest of your life, please and thanks??

Heather: Thank you, such nice words. We’ll see how it goes, eh with my music. Got my CD release date and venue booked! Will blog about that next week!

I’m afraid that “good uke” and “$20 uke” don’t live in the same dimension.

You can get “decent uke” and “under $100 uke” together for a spot of tea. I’d suggest talking toMusic Guy Mic. You can find him here:

    http://stores.ebay.com/Musicguymics-Room

Not only does he carry a huge variety of ukulele, he is also a wonderful person to deal with. He’ll carefully set up even the least expensive ukulele so that it plays well and his shipping and service is terrific. He’s just entirely made of the aloha spirit.

    Uke on!
