Does It Mean I’m Crazy?

{ Edit: as I just mentioned in the comments to Rhett, without knowing the song’s melody or feel, try to imagine my vocal delivery as part Madeline Khan, part Latka Gravas, with a bunch of Robin Williams thrown in . }
1.) I play it on my tricycle.
I play it while I’m watching my t.v.
I play it eating jell-o
and I play it while I’m talking to my tree.
I play it in the heat of day and when the night is cool.
I play it in the shower, in the bathtub, in the pool.
Does it mean I’m crazy ‘cause
I play my ukulele all the time?
——————–
2.) I play it while I’m coloring.
I play it while I’m doing arts and crafts.
And when I’m weaving baskets
I can even play my uke behind my back.
I play it for the voices having fun inside my head.
I play it for the people living underneath my bed.
Does it mean I’m crazy ‘cause
I play my ukulele all the time?
________
Bridge:
Sweet ukulele
Oh, the music I hear
Dear, sweet ukulele
Whenever you are near.
___________
3.) Here where they have brought me
all the doctors and the nurses are so nice.
They keep me medicated
and my rubber room is always clean and bright.
I play it in group therapy and everybody sings.
It doesn’t even matter that my uke has got no strings.
Does it mean I’m crazy ‘cause
I play my ukulele all the time?
Does it mean I’m crazy ‘cause
I play my ukulele all the time
all the time,
all the time,
all the time,
all the time…
——————–
(Well, does it?)

Yes, yes, and hell yes! The ukulele lullaby, the paean to all lutes everywhere, the stringless lute strummed to stunning perfection by the lunatic fringe, the loon lover, the luscious lovely with rollers in her hair, and levity in her heart. This song is already hit, but the world has not figured it out yet.

I think the song is good. But it doesn’t peg itself around any one line or idea or anything except the ukulele. I think the perkiness of the song will have to compensate for that.

Lynn: Seal said it pretty well I think, that we’re never gonna survive unless we get a little crazy.
Debbie: I totally recommend it!
Sheila: Hit? Probably not but hey, I guess one never knows where a song will end up. I’m just glad that it ame together and I consider it finished. And my Comment Luv is always weird, I guess I should check into it, after I check out of the looney bin.
Glenn: Lunatic fringe! Yeah, that’s totally it. Er, me.
Rhett: Looking at a song in lyrics-only form is kind of like looking at a map of New York and imagining what it must be like there. Doesn’t quite paint the picture, does it? I’ll probably put up the recording in the next couple of weeks. Try to imagine a combo of Madeline Khan and Ladka for the vocal delivery.
And Rhett, I do love Obama, as I love all humans. He wasn’t “my man” but I certainly wish him well. I’ll probably do a post on my cat instead, my wonderful little snuggle-mouser.
Kimm!! It’s so great to see you back here again. I guess we all have our strengths. I can write songs- yay!! And you can paddle all the way to the World games, among other things I’m sure you are good at too.

Thomma Lyn: I knew you’d like it, you have a very wacky sense of humor too. Once I figured out the “person” was in a “home” I was actually able to go back and make the second and first verses work better, as at first I had the person driving in her (his?) car and such, things one would do in the “outside” world.
Dear Violet: Your name moves me – so new, yet your aura is so hauntingly familiar. Never a kid. Can I adopt you? If you don’t mind being adopted by a Big Kid?
And yes Violet, only the crazy make sense. One flew over the Funster’s nest.
Jo: I almost made those lines more complicated but decided to keep ‘em simpler. The song already has a lot of imagery and I wanted lessen the load on all those unsuspecting brains that will have to process the mini scenes without the benefit of ever seeing the lyrics first.
Davina: Thank you. I was so grateful I was able to give a little twist at the end, as I did with my Wedgie Wedding and Motorcycle Cop songs too. Whew. (Thank you, God.)
Momisodes: Thank you! I really wonder what melody you are humming?
Dot: I had a very set melody I worked the lyrics into, one with a pronounced rhythm so maybe that really bounces out. Oooo, if you recall the music or tune will you please come back and tell me what it is? I’d love to know.

Weyrdie: No I don’t actually play a uke at all. My only frame of reference is Iz’ Over the Rainbow, which to me is about the sweetest uking I can ever imagine. My plan is actually to play the song on guitar but hang an unstrung uke around my neck.
Talon: Ah thanks, I am not quite happy with the last two lines in verse 1, I may be able to do better. Once I started getting the ideas I didn’t actually spend much time on the lyrics so I must go and re-visit.
Lisa: Well, the people under my bed… you get used to it. The ones under mine are pretty friendly, thankfully!
Robbi: Certifiable, I’m told!
Dr. C: Thank you! I have watched A.I. in the past but am trying not to get sucked ito it this year as Kelly tends to want to watch it too and the added t.v. time is not conducive to her best brain development. The initial try-outs are pretty entertaining, I do admit.
Thank you, Lance. My nuttiness is out of the bag, ha! Finally admitting it to the whole world and I feel so freeeee. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee.
Caity: Ah, thanks. And what have you done with your hair??? I must go see.
Rhett: At least, that’s my interpretation of my mind-boggling songwriters journey.
