Trout-fishing hip waders!
Ass Kicking | Posted by Jannie on 23 February 2009 @ 7:05 AM 53 Comments
Sweetheart fuzzy-panted Kalyani loaned me her Crate amp for practicing! How super-cool is that? Not having to buy one of my own just yet means I can afford those trout-fishing hip waders I’ve been eyeing at the general store!
And you know what? After a good open mike the other night and guitar progress lately, I’m starting to think I might really be able to pull off this music thing! Just need to keep at the guitar, my most challenging part. My big little show’s 77 days from today – but who’s counting? Kalyani and I will be gigging together in the meantime at Flipnotics so I’ll be sure to put those dates on my Shows page when we firm them up.
Also on my music list…
– ask Jae if she minds Photoshopping another pic for my CD artwork. Jae? Sweetie-Pie? (In addition to being a great songwriter and all ’round Excellent Human Being, Jae and her equally talented daughter, Willow, designed these Band Geek Tees.) BTW, it’s Jae’s birthday today!
– update chord charts (time intensive,) get with the guys, talk arrangements.
– find or recreate CD with the background harmonies so Kalyani can have those to work from.
– CD duplications with lyric inserts.
– practice while sitting on my show barstool.
– practice river dancing while playing guitar.
– sew many bells on my fuzzy dress.
And you, blogging buddy, what’s on your list to get you where you want to go?

Hi there blogging buddy Jannie!
Send my birthday wishes to Jae!
The fuzzy dress? Bells? Will you ring when you walk?
Me? My list includes some time to meditate (and hopefully get my direction straightened out!), and and call to a coach I’m working with (for more of the same). It looks like I need some focus, huh?? I’m getting there…

Wow, a “To Do” list, extended out into the ozone, touching the fingers of the infinite, you say?
1. To go back and enjoy the 10 hours of work I put in on corraling 468 jpgs to illustrate my 208 best of WWII film list on my site.
2. To not only tell my wife, Melva, that I love her several times daily, but find more ways to demonstrate to her that I am not all talk.
3. To deal with my plethora of health issues, all kind of ganging up on my old booty already this year.
4. Like so many other old fat guys, to get my mind right about a new regiment of consumption, and to begin to shed this extra person I have been carrying around for way too long.
5. Wash my ‘92 Isuzu pick up between rain and snow storms around here.
6. To meditate more and bitch less.
7. To send good wishes and prayers in the direction of our new President, who has quite a lot on his plate.
8. To find new ways to bring joy to the 50 members of the Tacoma Film Club who had the poor judgement to elect me Director for this year.
9. To write more poetry, read more poetry, breath more poetry, become more poetic in thought and deed.
You are a kick in the pants, Jannie. Keep on challenging all the Funsters out here.

Also, I too want to work on my music. I feel shy though. I need to work on that. I’ve performed in front of people a lot in the past, but then I fell back into the shadows. I think I need to start playing for anyone who will sit and listen to a song or two – exposure.

Lance: My blooging buddie, I have always been amazed how you manage to keep such balance in your life with all you have to do. Is that a life coach to help get your direction straigtened out? Please take it easy, my buddy! You are very important to so many of us.
Glenn: I do see you using a ton of JPEGs on your site and have wondered how time-intensive that must be. Sorry to hear about your health issues, please take REALLY GOOD care of yourself. And yes, perhaps if weight must be lost that will help your other ailments. Have you tried the coffee and carrot diet? It worked for me in college. And how do you plan on increasing the Tacoma Film Club’s joy? Buy ‘em each a new Toyota Tacoma, hee, hee?
Rhett: I lubb you too. Thanks for commenting on all my recent posts — you’ve gone far and beyond the call. I award you honorary degrees in advanced blog commenting. Would you like your certificate with silver or gold trim?
Davina: You are so sweet to send birthday greetings along to Jae! I must admit I am not a good meditator, just can’t settle down enough to do it. Mabye because I’ve always got a perma-wedgie/ What kind of meditating do you do, Davina? And do you have any tops (or tip, ha-ha,) for that?
Aimee: Yoga! I love it too, even tho I really haven’t done much of it since 1979. Maybe it’s time to drag my mat back out too? Actually since Kelly now has her Wii, supposedly there is a Yoga CD I can get for it. Do you have special yoga clothes you wear?
Annony Mouse: I hope you find that cheese and fling your bra to the stars and back. And when did mice start wearing bras??
Dot: I so wish that you will get the sleep you need soon. It’s a very very debilitating thing, as if I have to tell YOU, to go without. I hope you will get your CPAP machine adjusted and that the sweetest of dreams will be in your future to stay. Will you please keep me updated?
J.D. Hey, who’s the Funster around here?
Can I get one of those magic carpets too? I really wonder which store sells them? I’m guessing Home Depot. With a magic carpet and some magic fuzzy pants what could possibly stand in a person’s way?

Frippering,Ahhh, thank you for the timely reminder to actually do something that will make one into a real person once more. That you have cranked yourself up into a frenzy of decision by borrowing amps and learning how to sit on a bar stool without sliding off, makes me feel that I should also stir myself and slither my way into some sort of order. For to long now I have been just a pale imitation of self, a cardboard cut-out of the real robbi, a pastiche of parody as my piano teacher is want to say. Even as this is being written I can feel the sweat building up in my armpits just in the anticipation of actually doing stuff, so much so I shall have to go and lay myself gently on the bed to reflect on the moment.

Talon: Yeah, Kalyani comes in pretty handy indeed. And how was your day? Was your spy in town?
Nikki: When you think of me picture a blonde Judy Tenuda, only a lot different. (Yet similar,if that makes any sense.) Would you like your copy of me on VHS or DVD?
Cath: I hope you will have success with your list. What’s the most daunting thing on it? Yes, me wading, strumming, jingling and dancing while catching trout!

Robbillo: Have I ever mentioned how much I admire pastiches and parodies and such? Why just this early afternoon I partook of one very flaky pastiche at the gelato shop. Georgie: Ain’t it? I haven’t heard about Judy Tenuda in years. Wonder if she’s even still around? That’s totally cool about your flash fiction blog! I hope you will come by and drop me a link to it?
Karyn: Cool. Thanks. I will check it out. I wonder if it’s one of those 100 things about me? Oooo, the suspense.
Happymaker: Well, the amp is not exactly like that one, but it relaly kicks buttocks. And in 1 hour and 40 minutes I”ll be a -cranking it up. Yes, I bought the raspberry-red fuzzy mini-dress but it may be too warm to wear on May 10th. Oooo, what shall I wear?
VeRonda: Fluffy socks and fluffy boats! The socks I can picture well enough but the boats – that just might be setting some kind of new trend. Please fill in the details for me!
Jessica: I do want an amp of my own, actually I have a very small monitor but an amp is for sure in my future. Regrettably I sold a little P/A I once had, before I really committed to being a musician. Oh well, it’s all good. Actually, it’s all VERY good! And fun. Are you having fun today?
Evelyn: I’m sure Jae will appreciate that, thank you! Yes, I will actually be having a couple costume changes, or I might say – costume “modifications” a the show. Have you ever had any bells on your clothes?
Jae: Oh there you are again! As you well know, Fred is especially partial to powder blue and teal. Remember him in that bridesmaid’s gown? I’m sure you will surpass even that. xo
Patricia: I have been very negligent in my champagning and your tour, but I will catch up. I’ve been into red wine. And still polishing off my Christmas Kahlua. I actually did get over and read your post yesterday evening (was sorry to hear about your illness but now have the Vicks Vapor rub on the bottom of the feet cure locked eternally in my mind.) Had been just about to leave a comment on our blog when the dog caught on fire again. That ever happen to you? And last night hubby roped me into some silly LMN movie with Susan Lucci. Yes, my hubby is a big LMN fan. My sensitive guy.
Talon: Thank goodness you guys are up on all the latest subterfuge techniques and such. To even divulge on ths Net that thdre is a bonafide spy in our blogging midst could certainly start some hackers fingertips a-waggin’. Even tho we all know he is the good kind of spy, you just never know who might be jealous of his mysteriosity and panache. But I fear I’ve already said too much.
Sheila: If you have some success with the meditation route will you please give me your tips? I read “The Power Of Now” and really did try to follow his directions but I ended up almost puking. I guess it’s not for everyone? Yes, didn’t those days until my show just FLY!?!?! Only 77 to go, a veritable nanasecond or two remaining.
Lisa! So nice to see you back here again. Well, I never see those river dancers use their arms much so I figure — why not?! I can just keep mine bush with my guitar. Might start a trend, eh? Ooo, I’ll have to see if you post that sunrise picture!
Kalyani: Yep, I’m thining aobut 500 bells for the Ukulele song shoud ’bout do the trick! And a lot of those amassed on the buttock area for shake-a-booty-bility! I’ll let ya know on the river dancing.
Tess ‘O My Heart: I keep procrastinating on the social media too, Twitter expecially (please don’t tell Barbara Swafford, okay? She’s always recommending it and I know she’s is Absolutely Right on that and Stumble Upon but I’ve been a naughty naughty blog student. However, someday you WILL see my burst forth in Social Media with a grandious sweep. And the world will be forever changed (possibly even for the better.) Do you do any social media yet, or zip?

Artwork needs a decent 10mpxl cam to capture what I have before sending it off, because I still want rights to use my images elsewhere after selling originals.
