Hi, Jannie. I’d have to agree on the $69.97! [grin] Lots of things help me feel rich, but one off the top of my head is when I’m feeling the excitement of life, the joy of it for its own sake…like my entire body and spirit are jazzed at the starting gate, waiting for the signal to dash out into all the excitement and joy that’s just waiting for me to experience.

Love. I know, it sounds cliché at first, but I assure you there is nothing that makes me feel more “like a million bucks” than when I get that warm, gushy feeling when I look around me and see the amazing people I have in my life. That feeling trumps all others. I wish I could live there in that feeling all of the time and not get so caught up in the distractions and nonsense of everyday life, but then I guess that’s what makes it feel so extraordinary. Does it still sound like a cliché? Probably :)

    Jannie,

What makes me feel rich is the friends and loved ones who support me! :)

    Case in point:

One Grannie Jannie who battled the odds and figured out how to post the endometriosis awareness petition right here on this blog, “under the eye”!

Now dear Funster readers, you’re not going to let Jannie down are you? You all are going to sign it, right?

I thought so. Clearly Jannie has her eye on you! She will be watching to see who’s naughty and who’s nice. Think of her as a thin, young Mrs. Claus. No, no. That won’t work. Jannie’s husband might not appreciate that.

Well, Funster readers, please just “do what Jannie would do”.

    Thank you Grannie… ummm… I mean Jannie!!!

    Jeanne

P.S. Pssst. Funster readers, Jannie went to a lot of work to figure out how to post that petition with a fancy picture attached. Please help our cause. Jannie has experienced the thrills of endometriosis firsthand and knows that this is a serious illness that deserves factual media coverage. 89 million women and girls have endo. That’s more common than AIDS and more common than cancer (per Ohio State University Medical Center… http://medicalcenter.osu.edu/patientcare/healthcare_services/gynecological_health/gynecological_statistics/Pages/index.aspx). Many patients are suffering in silence… some without a proper diagnosis/name for what is causing their suffering. Let’s help get people’s voices heard.

Chris: Often I have those exact same sentiments while on the running trail. I feel the power and grace of being able to move my body in the way I want to and it is a most satisfing feeling. Vey humbling indeed. We are so lucky. How often and far do you run?

Lance Sounds like big fun! I bet you have wonderful friends and that they are happy to know you. Hope nobody got hit by any darts?

Vered: Things like being able to treat myself to a coffee and a biscotti a couple tomes a week make me feel I’ve got the world by the buttocks. You know what I mean?

Julie: Yep, it ain’t a lot but I sure do make it stretch. I might’ve been inclined in earlier years to be ashamed of such modest savings but what is money? It does not have any claim on who I am as a person. Who I am is the one who skips down the sidewalk whistling. Amen!

Kimm: I know that feeling. I gave some recently, not a lot, but I felt all warm and glowy. Best feeling ever. Almost as good as having a child give me a hug.

Belle: ten pounds! Wonderful little things mean so much. Do you play the lotto regularly? What’s your biggest win?

Alik: yay – $3616.02. I’m postiovely SUPER RICH NOW!! Thanks for mentioning that.

Cindy: I’m a very strange person in that I actually use everything I buy. Weird, eh? Well, maybe not so weird in these days. And what, may I ask, if you are willing to divulge, do you like to treat yourself with?? (I’m so nosy.)

K: Isn’t it a blessing and treasure to be able to be home with your son!? I thought I would contiue working in my husband’s business after Kelly was born but I could not be away from that baby for a moment.

Paige: Pretty good James Cagney, I think. :) Ahh, a comforter. I am under one right now and it is one of the true blessings of my winter life. That and realizing the heat pump air filters had to be changed and that’s why the house was strying around 68 degrees. And that I had the new filters on hand about made my whole year.

Dot: That $67.97 is actually what’s left of my weekly household allowance I get from my hubby. But my Adsense is up to $79.45 now!!! Not bad since last summer, eh? maybe by this summer I’ll finally get that $100.00 check! Holey cow, what WILL I do with that windfall? A meal with 5 or more items, eh? In prison that’s what made me feel rich too, 5 item meals. And hey, I never even noticed Chris’ “hair” comment. Good one.

Aimee: Love is never cliche. All you need is love. Love is all there is. Love will save the day. Love is a many-splendored thing. etc. etc!! (Pay no attention to Love Stinks, soembody was as old sour-puss with that song. :) Forever and ever.

Miles: And what you been listening to on that stereo lately? Lots of Britney? And Mylie? :)

Sheila: Oh there are plenty of bills to be paid, waaaaay over and beyond that $69.97, believe me. But that’s my husband’s job. Knowing that I can buy the break, milk, rice, apples and chicken makes me a happy happy gal. And he’s in an extremely great mood tonight. When I told him I tore the driver’s mirror clear off earlier today on that pesky crepe myrtle by teh driveway, he said “Well things happen.” And that is so not his usual reaction to things like that. Talk about feeling rich.

Oh dear dear Jeanne: YOU CRACK ME UP “The thrills of endometriosis, indeed!” And I even had to do that button again as on the first one I had spelled endometriosos. I do hope peopel will click on it and sign. Just to think when I first signed it, it had only 30 or so signatures, not it’s almost 300! You are an amazing girl, woman. Woman. Girl. All meant with the greatest of adoration. I know you still want a guest post. Maybe in October? Or on July 31st?

Patricia: I knew you would be rife with things that make you feel rich! Just wait until Tess gets over here, she’ll be gushing with them too, knowing her. What book are you currently reading?

Weyrd1: Ouch. My one and only speeding ticket cost $137.50. 14 years ago. I still feel the excruciating sting.

Well, guys and dolls, off goes I now to sign up with ASCAP. http://www.ascap.com/index.html

Frenzie-ster. I had a birthday this Wednesday passed and as I gazed about me there are several thing that bestow riches and largess in aplenty on the robbi life. The most pressing of course would be her, followed on equal footing by my children and his wife, her husband and alongside them on the same foot are the three grandaughters that they have graciously bought into the world, for my pleasure and spoiling(hers too). Then there are the friends that I have, in real time and on here. oh,I dearly love the ability to hang a coherent word or three into a sentence, that is pleasing at times when they all meld together and work. So if you collect all that into a ball and then proceed to unravel said ball, I guess what I’m saying is, my riches are my life.
Upon the occasion of this birthday(the 67th) I penned these few lines for folk on facebook who muttered darkly about birthdays that stack up (ahhh, women…sighhhh)

    Birthdays are not hurdles
    to jump,
    they are only
    gateways to another time

Mia: I hope that happens often for you. :)

Robbidisio: You are but a month younger than my Jim. Happy birthday. I can tell your loved ones are the lights of your life. A rich man indeed. And the birthday poem should be in a book of famous quotes, right up with Einstein’s.

Yaya: And they rich to have you, lovely lady!

G: Why can’t communiication be that good and perfect? Some people were not held enough and treated with respect enough as children, I think. When people do not feel good about themselves, it’s hard to be nice to others.

Natural: A business kind of pantsuit? Or casual (velour-type?) These days it would have to be the latter for me. Burgundy or darkest blue would work. Size small.

What makes me feel rich is knowing that currently, I don’t owe ANYBODY! When my mother passed away, the little bit of money I got from her went to pay off all our credit cards and get all the other bills caught up. Now, to work toward finally getting her house switched over to my name. I currently pay “rent” to her estate account which pays the house payments. Better than nothing! :) )

Caity: That is the most uncorny thing you could say. What but friends and love really count in life? You are a wise one, Caity.

Rosie!! Go easy on them-thar “voitives”! Remember that pronunciation? I too am a big fan of the Dollar stores. I get all my batteries there, they wear out in 3 days but for soem reason I still feel like I’m getting an amazing deal for for at $1.00

Shay: I bet Bosco and Miss Molly smile at you A LOT.

Talon: Oh, I love that too! A few weeks ago I found a five in my jeans pocket and done thought I’d hit the jackpot. That is one coffee and deluxe pastry. ummn, ummn.

Carolynn: Thanks so much so returning the favor of a visit. I found your blog most uplifting. I too am lucky enough to enjoy the things you mentioned. We are very blessed indeed.

Jewel: I KNOW just what you mean by that. Kelly and I wnet to hear some live music outdoors and she sat in my lap the whole 45 minutes. It was pure verklempt joy for me.

Kim: I must admit when we got our new (bottom-of-the-line-but-wonderfully-functional) new clothes washer I basked in its glory for weeks. But someone to actually do all my washing, that would make me feel like a queen indeed.

Sally: Welcome! Were you born and raised in Ireland. I’m 100% of Irish descent, came over in the 1830s. You like it over here, I take it?

Laura: Welcome! Your photos are really really spectacular. The one with the moss all over the castle was great too. Ah what’s a few germs – immunity building’s a good thing.

Pam: Welcome too! Garden Ridge — that is one amazing place. Should be Home & Garden Ridge. I think red in the kitchen is smashing. Never go for yellow, too many fights break out in yellow rooms!

Pouty: Heh, heh! Karma working its wonders, eh! Good going.

Lisa: Thank you so much for popping in. That must be a WONDERFUL feeling, to say the least to have all debt paid off. Congratulations. I’m hoping we get there before too long. Hope your house name switch goes into effect soon, sounds like it will certainly simplify things.

Liara: If you look to others for fulfillment, you will never truly be fulfilled – truer words never spoke. We already have everything we need, the joy is in realizing that. Thank you, Liara.

    Joy to you all!

Edit: To Carla… sorry, Lady, I’m not sure how your comment slipped in there without me seeing it. Freinds, indeed. They lighten the load and lengthen the love (they I just coined that – not bad, eh!?)

Debbie: Yah- whee-hoo. $69.97. Altho in the past couple days it’s been depleted a bit on gas and food and my ASCAP membership. Still – I am still plenty rich. Glad you are too!

Robin: That recording studio must be working out well for you! (Can’t wait until you read my post I just published.) I remember when as a student I had $10.00 a day for food and I often had some left over at the end of the week. Those were rich days for me.

Lori: Thank YOU for coming by! Maybe next time you could leave your blog URL so I can visit you!

I guess feeling rich is a kind delusion, a synonym for feeling fulfilled, happy, momentarily out of pain. How can we feel rich for one second when the our nation’s economy is in the crapper? All those trillions hanging over us, and the entire world like the sword of Damicles, ready to chop into the tiny happiness within each of our lives. But enough of that. As Robin Williams said, “Reality, what a concept.”

I feel rich when I hear my grandsons laugh, when I kiss my wife who is still in bed as I head off to the office, when I enjoy the fellowship of freinds, real and cyber, when God sees fit to show me a rainbow, a sunrise or set, spring flowers, the affection in a pet’s eyes, a purring cat on my lap, when I weep while watching a movie, like the new HBO film, TAKING CHANCE, starring Kevin Bacon, about the marine colonel that accompanied a body back from Irag to its family in Wyoming.

    Jannie,

Have you got your eye on people still? Are they signing our endometriosis awareness petition up above… the one you re-labeled “endometriosis sucks” that you painstakingly marked as “not an ad”? You’re still tracking who’s naughty and who’s nice, right?

Oh… Grannie Jannie… where’s my wood delivery? Did you split it yet?

Oh… Grannie Jannie… why haven’t I seen you tweeting on twitter? Trust me. You’re going to love it!!! :)
