Untitled from Jannie Funster on Vimeo.
There I am! With Kalyani, a.k.a. the fuzzy pants lady and Ryan, a.k.a. incredibly musically gifted. Three Ananda Pandas.
Didn’t realize I should name the video, thus Untitled. I would’ve called it “Ukulele Crazy.”
Is this my best song of the show? I think not. It’s a brand new tune and still needs a lot more “settling in.” But, my Wonderful Peeps… it is the tune YOU sent me the love and energy to create. Remember? It’s very special to me and you deserve to see its world premiere!

(The flyer for the show that wuz. Ended up playing for about 90 minutes, we wuz havin’ so much fun.)

Dear Jannie, thank you for dropping by and comment on my blog. ^^ And after replying to you about the Twitter issue, I guess I should dive right in here, and to my surprise, you left a very very nice welcoming note to me in previous post. Truly appreciate your kind welcoming. I’m far to be a pro in Twitter, but I would love to assist you if you ever had any questions regarding Twitter etc. I’m quite fond of social media and probably would dig a little deeper into them every week. Drop me an email or a message, it’s my pleasure to help if I can.
To my surprise, you could play guitar! I love guitar as well, acoustic, yet I haven’t been playing much lately. I miss it very much, it has the power of chasing my tension and cloudy moments away, music is one of the greatest gift to us, couldn’t be more grateful. I had a guitar clip back in last year, really miss it.. your clip just got me all hyped with guitar again. Thanks, Jannie.
Keep up the good work. Hope more clips are coming up. ^^

Ching Ya: How nice of you to come back here – thanks! I wil be e-mailing you about Twitter. I’d certainly like to get better at it. And so sorry I couldn’t hear the guitar for Amazing Grace. My laptop has no sounds and my other computer is not working right. Yikes. I’m glad I could inspire you to pick up your guitar again. And yes, I will put up another clip in a couple weeks, or so.
Chris: To me Ryan is what makes the performance. Sheer musical genious is a wonderful thing to be around! His mannerisms and one-handed playing are pretty funny eh? Wait til you see him in the song where he is playing piano with one hand and banging on a drum in another. Thanks for such kind words on our voices, I feel as tho I’m still working on mine but I’ve come a long long way. It is a fun song to play.
Rosie — yes, my love, please move up to that $10.00 plan!
Good thing about the video is it’ll keep. I hope you got to see it at Angie’s? Vimeo seemed to be acting up today, I was afraid that I somehow made their system crash. And no I did not end up wearing the uke on my head. I had a little strap to wear it around my neck but I forgot to bring it. Next time! Love you too!
Debbie: Thank you very much. So nice of you to watch the video and comment.
Christina: Yes, I will for sure follow you on Twitter. Well, if I can get a song stuck in someone’s head, I guess I’ve done my job indeed. I do like the little “ukulele fills” thrown in, that’s the part I find myself singing when I think of the song.
K: Thanks so much! I’m so happy to share it! Couldn’t wait to get it up, surprised myself all to heck that I managed to figure out how. Not rocket science, tho. But I am patting myself on the back today.
Caity: Poor Kalyani was not fuzzied at all for this, was she?
We will maybe wear fuzzy pants to the next show if it’s not too hot out. Coming from you who has a beautiful voice, I take the approbation as a high compliment. Yes, don’t ya just love those minors, in this one it’s pretty-much Bm, F#m, and Em. And some majors in the bridge. Thank you!
Matthew: I bet you say that to all the guitar playing gals who sing songs about being ukulele crazy??
Thanks, Matthew.
Howlin’ & Weyrd1: Ahhh yes, the very conundrum of the stringless uke vis-a-vis a live performance. Let me just say I was very “committed” to the uke (and in committed in general, hee-hee,) at the time I wrote this tune, lol, but now am more of a guitar gal!
G: Well, thanks, for watching, commenting and complimenting – it’s all smoke and mirrors with the visuals. I too wonder if and when I will be able to see my blog buds in the flesh or on video. I remember when I met my penpals, NONE of them was what I had expected, there is just no way you can correctly imagine a person’s mannerisms and physical energy until you meet them, or I guess in this case, see a video of them. Have you met any bloggers face-to-face? I think you have, right.
Shay: I think it would be her divine pleasure and honor to sit next to such a soul as you. Preferably at a nice little cafe somewhere. Or some sunny park, but in the shade of course — to protect her delicate complexion.
Paige: What do you mean by “you told me so?” I’m searching myself to remember what we could’ve discussed. And yes, I’ll head over to your palce after I post this – always interested in surprises! Cha-cha-cha!
Lisa: How did you know I’m a Barenaked Ladies fan? TOTALLY! I wonder if it’s a Canadian songwriter thing? We tend to be plenty weird. So glad you liked the song, it sure was fun to write and perform. As I mentioned – it’s so new and still settling in, a feat in itself just remembering the lyrics.
Kimmi: Thanks bunches. I am about to order your book! And will look forward to it. I know it’s not an easy subject yoy have written about, but was no doubt harder for you than it ever will be for a reader. And will do some good for others.
Davina: Playful – yes, that’s it! Just a bit kooky was my aim. I totally know what you mean about the melody bringing the lyrics to life. Just as a road map can never do justice to the place it aims to describe. Ah wonderful, mystical music and the spell it can cast.
Talon! You got to see it at long last, yay!! You liked it – you liked it! I aim to treat you up agin with more tunes. Was it quite different than you’d imagined? I wonder how you had pre-visioned it? Yes, I think we make quite a nice little group and not bad for just 2 rehearsals. I am very very lucky to have joined up with that more-than-talented duo, we’ll see how it evolves. And yes, we are having a lot of fun! I’m learning to tell my nerves to take a hike before I hit the stage.

Marie and I have been friends since Feb 2007, and last year when I decided to actually take a real vacation (haven’t took a real one since ‘02), I decided to hook up with my friend, who lives in the Midwest.
Even though there were a few changes which made it impossible to spend as much time as we wanted together, it still was an incredible experience shared by one and all.
I wouldn’t change it for the world. I would like to visit other people who I’ve met online in the future, but I would have to play it by ear.

Funster, Actually I think that even if you hadn’t alluded to the fuzzy pants lady by singling her out I would have known her anywhere, sans fuzzy pants even. Not that you would depict her sans anything, after all this is a family show is it not, one must be circumspect as to the showing of ,dare I say it ,a well turned ankle? But there she is live as live plus expert trilling of the vocal cords as well, added to that of course the hittng of strings in what must be the correct order. Quite an ensemble you have there Frinster, the gentle person fingering the keyboard alas has no shoes, perhaps you could up the ante a little and pay him what he is worth? Please find this little missive in no way derogatory of your collective musical efforts dear Frospot, indeed, they were of a most pleasing and harmonious nature plus I found the whole to be a most humorous and rewarding experience. There was one discordant note however.Behind the minstrels was a youngish looking chap who shrugged himself into a sort of large pack which was secured on his shoulders by straps. This young fellow suddenly took fright or flight and exited stage left in a most peculiar manner. He had the most extraordinary swift gait and hardly seemed to move his body at all. I played your moving picture several times and was most taken by his movements and method of locomotion. Can you tell me good Frostbitten is this method of propulsion somewhat endemic to the local youth or do you think the young chap had some form of deformity? I must add dear lady that I did not allow that small obsevation to take away anything at all from the quality of the performance. In fact you and your troupe could entertain me and mine at anytime ,most enjoyable and I thank you. Hurrah for the trio Ananda Pandas !! Hip Hip ************

Good morning, my lovely peeps!
Since answering in the order received….. and luckily I see no indication of Funstering Codebook violations… (and just what woudl those be? Well, you’ll know your offense should your comment be spammed or meet with an most untimely disappearance.
Lance: Completely? COMPLETELY awesome? Yes, I’m nothing short of ABSOLUTE AWESOMENESS in my entire existence! LOL. You crack me up. I have missed your posts this week but I assume you are out living a Real Life or soemthing with job and family, etc?
G: I hear you on the lack of vacations. This isn’t the roaring 80s anymore, eh? But “vacations” can always be appreciated very much when we finally have them. Plus, thre are always vacations of the mind – and those are the best. You must be pretty close to NYC, right? God, if I lived close to the city I’d be a museum nut. Followed by a new cafe every day. I am very much looking forward to meeting each and every blog bud, well maybe only my favorite 50 or 60 some day.
Robbi: Yes, that was actually a planned discordant note. I think he fulfilled his duties quite nicely, the whole backpack thing and jumping onto his bike to ride into the approaching sunset. Or I should say approaching rainstorm, which prevented the next band from playing. And in later songs he reappeared to priouette his mode of locomotion into teh front of a panel truck – beautifully executed too. Kalyani’s singing is a blessing to this earth – I’ve no idea why she keeps hanging around with me but I’ll be on the ride for as long as it lasts. Probably until I abscond to Canada. Actually, I have no great desire to return Canuck-side with this musical enmeshing going so well. And I can assure you, an equal 1/3 of our $4.00 in tips when to Ryan’s footwear fund.
Thank you Robbishness. All is happily and joyfully noted.
Kim: Oh, thank you so much. So glad you enjoyed it, found it funny and all!! Now you’ve made MY morning! Not that is wasn’t already made by just being alive, loved and well. But hearing I actually “made” your morning, makes mine. I’ll probalby put another song video up in a couple – 3 weeks.

Congratulations Ms. Jannie Funster!
You have won a very valuable prize today!
You have experienced a rare treat with me. Up until this week, I have for most part, not carried on a conversation of any type anywhere, since I started blogging this past May.
You are the very first person that I’ve done this with.
And the valuable prize you won, is a post about you and the lost art of the conversation, that will appear sometime in April.
And to answer your question, no. When I went to the Garden, Bob Backlund was the top dog at the time. He currently resides here in Connecticut, still taking the occasional indie date and working as a bailbondsman.

J.D. I think you’ve actually arrived right when the party’s in full swing! And videos never age. Do they? Only the people in them. Yes, more performances to come.
Nikki: It was funny as this was the very first song of the show and not many people were yet at the Farmer’s Market, but after a while it was a great party – unfortunately, I did not have enough battery for the last half hour, we played a lot longer than we’d anticipated. And of course that was the BEST part of the show. Oh well, there will be more shows to tape!
Jeanne: Grannie Jannie – love it! Your commnet was so very very nice. Thank you! What would I do without your loving support?? Yes, I suppose I could get strings for that that uke. Or get the homeless guy I saw on the street with one this morning. Maybe he could play in a show with us!!
And please do not think twice about any of your post’s titles. I know whatever you’ve written is to help people, suicide is not a taboo subject and I’m sure you’ve treated it just as it should be treated. I’ll be over to read it later.
Cath: Your computer sounds just like both of ours. (Well, I busted my laptop’s speakers and phone jack anyway, alas.) But I cannot even get it to roll either. I had to listen to it on Kalyani’s computer. It’ll keep.
G: Ahhhh, conversation – what a lovely concept. I took a course on it, you know! Well, I will look for that post next month. Will I get a plaque for my wall or some other such trinket?
Wade: I am quite certifiable. Luckily, I get to write strange tunes to cover it all up.
Hi Rhett! How’s it going all the way across this beautiful planet we get to enjoy? Kalyani actually adopted that name herself. Yes, she is a happenin’ little gal and I just love her to bits. And, so we can maximize our millions of listeners’ experience, which sounds did you find “jagged”? Or is jagged a good thing?
I have no idea what you meant.
Patricia: That was one super-duper-awesome-great-joyful-energetic-loving and for sure the best comment I may have ever or shall ever receive as long as we both shall blog. Amen. I might just have to memorize all those words and when I get to feelin’ a little down, repeat them to myself. YOU JUST MADE MY MONTH, if not my whole blogging year. I guess you enjoyed my songstering, the video and getting to win the codfishing boot honor this week?
I really hope you are feeling a bit better? I just hate to hink of my pals like you and Dot, or anyone, not feeling well. (Thank you, Patricia. So much.) (Oh, and on the “touched” part – more than you will know.)

Jannie,
The only reason I explained the sad title is that I always leave comments on your fun blog with depressing blog titles — and it’s just the way it is… that post I wrote just needed to be posted!

Perhaps.
You pick out the type of plaque you want, and I’ll pay for it (believe it or not, this is how I used to birthday/Christmas shop for quite a few years).
At the very least, I’ll make sure to put a link to your blog within my post.

Saw your comment on A Duck in Her Pond last week when the Blonde Duck was gracious enough to let me post for her. Thought it would be fun to stop by and check out your blog. So glad that I did too. You’ve got some mad musical skills. I am impressed. Truly.
Let’s do this again sometime!

Natural: I would have to say the piano is my very favorite instrument, but a little harder to learn and and schlepp around than a guitar. Did I mention my uke has no strings?
Sometimes I think piano is Ryan’s FIRST nature! Isn’t he something else?!??! Both he and Kalyani are gems. Thanks for popping in again!!
Vered: STOP IT! All smoke and mirrors.
(But thanks!)
Jeanne: You funny-bunny! My poems touch on heavy subjects a lot of the time — death and such. Never any need to explain anything here.
Carla: Wow! Catchy? Who knew? Thanks for your kind words.
Jewel: Your words shall I ever cherish. Thank you. I fell very lifted and light. I am sure you have a lovely musical gift too and I look forward to hearing you sining in your band.
G: I am so totally KIDDING on the plaque. You are so sweet, you crack me up. To be even mentioned or linked up at all, or the idea of it warms my heart. Thank you.
3 Bay B Chicks: Well, thank you for the lovely honor of your visit. I am most humbled. You found me on my first video post ever! MAD, indeed!!! Yes, I agree – le’ts do this again soon.

Fun song. I have two beautiful hand-crafted ukes from Hawaii. Still need to learn how to play them. Now I’m inspired to practice again.

Don Mills Diva: Well, welcome back — it’s been such a long time. Hope you’ve been well and that you won’t stay away so long next time?? Thank you for your lovely words.
Sterling: How super-kind of you to not only pop in here but to watch the video and leave such a nice comment. Thank you. I too would like to learn to play my uke. But I guess I’d need to put strings on it first? Now that I’m out of “the insititution,” I guess I can go ahead and do just that!

awe-some. kick-ass moms (& friend) is right! and regarding a previous comment(s) re: the fact that you have the uke next to you but sing the song about playing the uke all the time on the guitar – well, that is just brilliant irony.
