Potential Regalements

Hello Peeps.  Just reclining here on my satin pillowcase wondering what, if anything, I have to regale you with tonight.  Well… how about the original birthday cake picture I borrowed off Google Images — before I doctored it up for your viewing pleasure…

belated photo credit: ferrins fruit winery

I sure hope Mary, whoever she was, had a very fine birthday.  Can’t help but wonder if she overdid the champagne and flung her delicate garment into the crepe myrtles as I did.

Below, as you may recall, was my doctorization of Mary’s cake…

I do not do Photoshop (yet,) I only work in Microsoft Paint, but AFTER MAY 10th, (of course,) I’ll be photoshopping, bungee jumping, pottery wheeling, three-stepping, and running down les Champs Elysees in my blue crochet bikini and cod fishing boots.  (Wish me fine weather for the latter.)

And one final potential regalement… there is a blog I am a HUGE-BIG fan of ’cause it’s filled with bold upliftingness and such.   Indeed the name of the blog is, ta-da… The Bold Life.  It’s all about taking action and making things happen in your life.  I cannot say enough good things about Tess’ blog.  Talk about positive thinking – she wrote the book.  Actally she did.  Write a book, that is!  It’s called Flying By The Seat Of My Soul. I LOVE IT!!  And her.  She’s even offering it as a free E-Book, but I am very fond of my soft-cover edition.

And if you have the best comment on Tess’ Magic Monday posts, she’ll send you cool stuff!

Interestingly (at least I think so, and leading us to the potential regalement part,) last week in her post Bold Changes For Bold People, Tess posed this question, “What was the bravest thing you ever did?”  which inspired me to share that ”in freshman year I took on the chocolate cream pie eating contest and won! There were only 4 contestants but still, there was stiff competition – “Maggie the Muncher” (reigning pie champion,) was giving me the evil eye to psyche me out, but I put my hands behind my back, my face down in that goopy stuff and didn’t stop gobbling until the bell rang and I was pronounced Winner!”

(I won beer!)

And Tess, may I be so bold as to steal your idea and ask my Peeps what kinds of brave things they have done, if they so desire to share?  Thank you, dear bold Tess.  And Peeps, I funned around here a bit but Tess’ blog is really a special one-of-a-kind sanctuary, as is Dream Builder Doctor Liara Covert’s, but the latter lovely lady’s I shall have to expound more upon another day.

Potential Regalements — over and out.

Ahhh..I need to be bold! Your post came to me in a moment of extreme unboldness.

I’m usually pretty bold and I defend the things I hold most dear. I think living the life I want to live, regardless of others’ judgement is the most bold thing (things) I’ve done. However sometimes I need a reminder. Thanks Jannie.

    Hi Jannie!
So, I think we need another cream pie eating contest, with video and all! I bet you still have it in you – once a champion, always a champion!!
Bold? There was this time I read the whole Funstering Codebook (my favorite part – page 108, section 9.5). Other than that, there was this time we tried to tent camp in a hurricane a couple of years back – they evacuated us (I don’t know why!).
Tell me where – I’ll meet you for bungee jumping (and make sure you bring the boots…)!

Oh – and I’ll attest to it – both Tess and Liara are a special kind of awesome! (as are you, my friend!)

You won beer for eating pie? Sounds like the best day ever.

I think the bravest thing I ever did was take a scholarship to a school I had never seen in person. I grew up in CA and went to college in upstate NY. When I showed up to college for the first time (to move in) I had never even been east of the Mississippi river. I was a bit wild when I was 18.

My bravest thing: for some reason I agreed to rafting trips down the Chattahoochee River, not once, but three different times. Hated it every time, but wanting to make others happy. (I don’t like being in confined spaces and a raft kind of counts as that.)

Goshdanggeewhizz!! My shirt is dangling open and the gray hairs on my chest are at attention, for I have been chosen as the Funster blog-quoter for the week, and I have popped all the buttons off with puffing out my chest. You do such a great job of linking and pasting. That is techno-advanced for a old duffer like me. There is still so much I need to learn and practice. The smidge pic of my blog header looks awesome on the Funster page. Hey, until you revealed the secret, most of us did not realize you doctored that photo; kudos to you.

The bravest thing I ever did, after being single for 7 years following a disasterous first marriage, was getting remarried; my second and Melva’s third. I guess we got it right though as we celebrated our 16 year anniversary last Friday. Or maybe it was heading off to boot camp in 1966, and taking my first plane flight, heading to what I thought was going to be Viet Nam.

I loved Lance’s comment and salute. Are you really such a nice guy, Lance, or is it all an act–and in your non-blogging moments you snarl, and kick dogs, and take sweets from toddlers, and step on ants?

Is Tess suggesting that we need to take action in order for good things to happen in our lives? I thought if we always do what we’ve always done (aka nothing) we’d always have what we never had before in the way of grand adventures and windfalls of money, or something like that.

You are such a creative soul with musical halo. Not every energy being has notes dancing around their head. You inspire others with clever images and insights. Wishing you love, health and opportunities to learn even more valuable lessons wherever life takes you.

Heather the Happymaker makes a meaningful point in her reply to this post. It is not necessary to take initiatives to make good things happen. It is a question of choosing to open the senses and raise awareness to notice happiness already exists. In fact, love is all there is. To dissolve illusions brings you back to love.

Aimee: I LOVE what you say about living your life not worrying about others’ judgements. Good on ya, Mate.

Robin: Am I wasting my time and talent on this music thing when I couldst be photoshopping birthday cake jpegs?? Oh, yes, on May 10th we’re getting a new pet rooster. :) No but seriously, I am having a show and party to realese my first CD of song I writ.

Teahouse: Thanks a bunch for your visit and belated birthday greetings.

Christina: Yes, Tess is a wonderful bold person and I strongly recommnend her site.

Miles: I wonder if there is already a bold cake site? Woudl NOT surprise me in the least.

Belle: Well, I’m having another one next year! :) Thanks for the sentiments.

G: Self-publishing a book is very very bold indeed. As is self-publishing a music CD – yikes! Funny comment, btw. So true in its wit and wisdom.

Lance: Stellar idea there, Mate, on videotaping a pie eating contest! Oh yeah, wasn’t page 108, section 9.5 of my Codebook just the bees’ knees!! Who knew a beach chair could be woven from kelp, chicken wire and used AA batteries!

K: That is a bold, bold move indeed! And did you finish out your studies there? (And believe it or not, I had actually imbibed beer before eating the pie!)

Lynn: “Chattahoochee” is such a fun word to say. Wow, very impressive about you and the rafting trip. Brave indeed. Reminds me of this weekend when I accompanied Kelly on a Mideay ride I detested every second of. And I went on it twice! That’s some Motherly Love.

Glenn: Not really hard to do the blog linking and such once you’ve beat yourself about the head to learn it the first time. Glad you got picked out of the codfishing boot this week! And of course you will be back again,at least one more time in the next few months! I actually think Lance is all made up – he’s too good to be true. Nah, I think he’s the real deal indeed and we all TOO lucky to know him.

Vered: Agreed on Tess. She’s a super soul. And so generous with her wisdom. Plus, she’s a fellow farm-raised gal, so how can I not love that!

Heather: What I take from Tess’ overall philosophy is if there is something we are really wanting to do that needs acting upon, but we are holding ourselves back for whatever (usually self-imposed) reasons, she gives great little jump-start ideas. (Perfect for fearful ones like me.) And yes, I totally agree with you that abundance is all around us, and a lot of the time we just need to open our minds to the happiness we already have. And appreciate it.

Liara: Oooo, a music halo – I like that! Wishing you all great thigns too. And thanks for your insight as to Heather’s comment.

    Kimm: Hmmn, Paint.net. THANK YOU!!!!!

Talon: I heard Maggie The Muncher went on to be a champion carrot peeler, won contests the world over!

Patricia: Always great to see YOU here. Ooo, sorry to mention the chocolate cream pie when you’re on a carb restricted diet. But I suppose you have to be strong as carbs are in your face everywhere you go, no doubt. And yes, I do need to let Robin know about May 10th, maybe in an eMail.

I’m way too bold sometimes. Besides the all talent contests entered over the years, many weddings sung at, n accepting a postumous award for my deseased mother in front of thousands of Girl Scout folks, I can think of two examples which stand out.
I once walked into a large BBQ party of complete strangers n loudly asked” Excuse me, does anyone have Jumper Cables?”- (my car batt was dead).

The other a bit serious- with my bare hands I pried a neighbors large, german shepard’s jaws open with after it had clamped down on another neighbors little girl’s neck one halloween. (Well, she did look like a stuffed animal-) I locked up the dog, grabbed paper towel n quickly put pressure on the gushing wounds to keep her from bleeding to death. I ordered someone to hurry n call 911. Poor kid got over 60 stitches- but did recover, grow, n is now a dog-groomer by trade!

Mia: Methinks you’re plenty emboldened already in life! But I like Tess because she comes up with really really helpful ideas on different topics.

Snag: Oooo, I’d love to hear more about those talent contests if you care to share. And the ohter things you mention do not sound ‘way too bold at all, just right. Did you get some free BBQ? And Dear Heavenly Angels, you were SOOOO incredibly brave for risking your life to save that child’s. Nothing short of a real hero. Is there no end to your depth??? That’s just incredible, (insert your real first name here, now that I know it.) And bold, brave, it’s all the same name I think, when it’s for a good cause. (Oh, and lol on the dog grooming trade, obviously.)

Debbie: Ah, really – ya think I did good with Mary’s cake? I wonder who she was? (Is) For some reason I picture her as on her 90th birthday. Do you?
