ONE: 3 more photos from last summer with Grandpa’s horse at the cottage. Actually, the kids call him Poppy. My dad, that is. The horse’s name is Penny.

And below, the 2 cuzzins with Poppy’s horses in summer 2006. Some might think it was November 8th, as per the lower left of photo, but 11-6-06 is 11th August 2006 in Commonwealth speak, as many of you know. (Or 1906, 1806, etc.) The houses ‘way ‘way off yonder under those perfect clouds line the shore road of the bay where Poppy and Nannie’s main house is. See how all appears magically clearer when photo is clicked to enlarge? I love that trick!

TWO: In order to not only keep up with, but joyfully revel in the thrill of blogging, I will probably only be posting 2.33 times a week, on average. Guess you’ve noticed I’ve been leaning in that direction anyway. Thanks to those of you who participated in my recent poll as to how often you’d like to see me posting, that was helpful.
THREE: I’m a little disappointed as I’ve been cut from the school fund-raiser show for May 1st. Well, I’m not the only one, a dad who also writes songs was supposed to play a couple too. Seems they’ve re-examined their schedule and with the headlining act now secured they’re having to streamline the program. I guess there has to be a good life lesson in here somewhere but at this particular moment I’m not quite seeing it. But I’m sure I will! Eventually. Right, Ms Liara Covert, Dream Builder ?

Oh, and “as if” on the school thing. Decisions by committee are always crappy. Hate that!

Quite an idyllic layout there on Poppy’s farm, with the cottage in the first shot, and the main house by the bay in the last one. Did you grow up on this horse farm/ranch? Little girls and horses has always been a treasure trove for precious moments and photos. Thanks for sharing. How old is Kelly now?
Now is it your plan to blog 2.33 times a week, or a day? I guess you mean posting new things on your blog for all of us to drool over, be fascinated by, and react to with our funstering comments, right? Surely you do not mean that you will not be out there on the net visiting other blogs only 2.33 times a week? For those of us who treasure the “eye” that appears on our sites, that would not be acceptable. May is almost upon you, and when that slides by triumphantly, I’m sure, then you will have more time for jogging, bra flinging, and blogging.
School boards and committees of all sorts are made up of small-minded individuals who think they have something to contribute if they can solicit or manipulate a change of some sort; human nature at its rawest and most inattractive.

It reminds me when I was a kid there was a horse my parents always took me to visit (it wasn’t Mr. Ed, but I liked him). They always told me it was my horse and I believed them … really it wasn’t more horse at all, it was just my special moments … the Hallmark kind.

Yay! My modem’s miraculously working again — Internet right in the comfort of my own home!! How great is this???
Betsy: Are you implying that perhaps I am some kind of a “character,” as our jaunty Kelly also appears to be too???
Yes, the old committee decision, that’s what it must’ve been for sure. I think I’m getting over it (a little.)
Lynn: Yes, better things in store for sure for my music. As I know. Oh, that day with the horses may well have been marked by any number of fits – both from the kids and the adults,
but at that moment, yes it was beautiful.
Hey, Glenn, that is not actually Poppy’s cottage in the first shots, it’s somebody’s else’s house up by the road the horse and girls are facing the cottage (but how could you possibly know that??) — all shall be revealed pictorially in time!! Yes, I did grow up on the farm. My dad worked in the mines but he has always kept the farm. It was granted to our family in 1830 or so. Dad lives in the same house he was born in, as were his dad and his dad. And probably his dad before him. Kelly is 7.5 now. 2.3 times a WEEK you silly!! Or 2.3 times an hour. In order to respond to comments and get over to everyones’ blogs, it does take quite a bit of time. Oh, plus coming up with these Amazing Posts I publish.
I love blogging and want to keep it that way.
Well, I don’t blame anyone for me being asked to sing, then un-asked. I know there will be a silver lining. I just need to be open to it.
Talon: Yes, sweet photos, eh. It was almost sunset and my camera didn’t quite know what to do with the light, but I think they are okay. Oh yeah Kelly’s ta-da pose. And her big camera smile when she was four. The show: I haven’t cried about being unasked, but I’ve felt rather close a couple of times. But all shall be well. No – all shall be great!
Chris: Yes, my mini-me! And someday when I put up some video of her, you’ll probably see it even more. The cousins adore each other. Alyssa is so sweet. They’ll be together again this summer. Yeah, and I wish I’d actually told the school director I was disappointed instead of automatically coming out with “Hey, no prob. I understand completely.” But you know how it goes when you’re all grown up. Yet, it takes rain to make flowers grow.
Sheila: When in doubt laugh, eh. And go run 12 miles followed by a big big bottle of champagne. (Not that I did either of those, but I suppose those could’ve been one way to deal with the disappointment.) You know I was never much of a horse girl – I guess what you have you don’t appreciate?
Liara: I never did sit all the way though that musical! But yes, door — open, open, open. I wish I weren’t so sensitive, but I guess that’s what also good about me too.
K: Yes, horses, like having grand-kids that come to visit, eh?
Enjoy, but not have the responsibility of the upkeep. Dad seems to like them a lot, he had horses since he was maybe 10 or 12, I think. I’ll have to ask himw hen he got his first one.
Sara: How come you are all saying Kelly’s so much like me??
Yes, she is, bless her little heart. Well, practically speaking, I’m not an established musician on the Austin scent yet. YET! And this little disappointment may just put some hair on my chest. (That would be a real interesting look for me.)
And 2.33 is every 3 days. Sounds viable to me!
J.D. My husband is like that with a big mansion a few blocks over. He says it’s mine! Not sure why the occupants didn’t think so when I crashed it.
Dot; It is a real special place to visit for sure, like a dream. Even in 40 below with a windchill of – 68 I love it!
I would like to build a big house in my parents’ potato field and do nothing but wrote songs, blog and eat donuts all day long.
Steve: Thank you!! And go, America!!!!!!!!!! Keep doing, bro. Keep doing.
Lance, thanks. Hey, That rhymes. “Thanks” “Lance.” Well, kinda. I could get away with it in a song, for sure! Yes, my grasshopper, no wait — I’m the grasshopper. I shall snatch the pebbles from the old teacher dude’s hand and all hall be revealed in the fullness of time.
Patricia: Girls and horses, yes indeed. Well, Kelly goes to a small not-for-profit school and this fund-raisesr is a big big event, we NEED to raise money so I am totally on-board with being a team player in whatever has to be done to raise scholarship money. We were not sure if we could get a main performer, but once we did, the line-up was “revaluated,” I guess. Being cut just hurt a bit. Luckily it’s a very supportive community and everyone has already had my show “save the date” e-mail circulated. And I will be notifying everyone again, maybe 10 days before the show. You are right, tho. I will be Queeen of my venue.
Thomma Lynn: Thanks, there will be namy many more shows indeed! And perhaps the lesson in this reinforces that we are all go through little dsiappointments and to remember Shay’s words… “Be kinder than necessary;
Everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.”
Teahouse: Thank you! Fun to share those pics with the world. Penny is a dear gentle soul.
Weryd1: You take drugs to be around them because you’re allergic to or just plain scared of horses?
Davina: Yes indeed!! There is a reason for everything. And “there’s a crack in everything – that’s how the light gets in.” — L. Cohen. Happy Easter to you too, my dear lady!
G: This averaging every 3 days seems to be enabling me to post somethign I like, then get around to read y’all’s blogs – really read every word and comment and usually read ya’lls comments too. And then do this responding thing I’m doing right now. Plus, this comments section is more than half the fun anyway, it’s almost like I’m posting again!

I’m very sorry about your being cut from the program. It made me think of Winston Churchill. Right after leading England to victory in Europe in World War II, the voters ousted him as Prime Minister. Seeking to make him feel better, a friend said that it was probably a blssing in disguise. “If it is a bleesing” said Churchill “it has come very well disguised indeed !”
Hang in there, your day’s coming.

I think in your business the best think to do is to remember not to take it personally. Put your focus on the gigs you have booked. Also don’t forget to practice telling the audience your CD’s are for sale and what your website is as well.
When you’re performing it’s easy to forget BIG details like that. However it will increase your sales! When I worked as a speaker I would sometimes forget and be so mad at myself later. If you practice announcing it you will remember.
There’s something better in store for you…

Fropster, I, the robbi, have had many things to do with horses. Mostly that is concerning the very slow ones that I wager my monies on most Saturdays, and the even slower ones that I have spent many monies on owning. That they are a majestic animal is not of contention, that they also have an affinity for girls of all shapes, ages and sizes is also not of an issue. What appears to be the bone of in the robbi establishment is that I, the robbi, love them to death and will fritter monies on even ones that appear to have only three legs that work. At the same time mostly, they all have four legs, but the one I refer to, the legs do not seem to all move in conjunction with the others, in perfect sync and harmony as it were. Hortense gazes in awe at the them who skip gaily away with the elegance of the swiftest gazelle whilst mine simply toil away bobbing up and down in the rear. But, with the true spirit of the adventurer that I am, I place my hard earned down on my selection most weeks only to see it stagger under the weight of my coin, either getting left at the post or some such.
Kelly is a charmer though is she not, how could she fail at that? breeding will tell as they say in the horsey world.

Hi Karyn: I am not exactly how my parents became Nannie and Poppy, they just did I guess. Both my grandfathers died before I came along but my grandmothers were called Grammy.
Liara: We used to fly with our small dogs all the time until Kelly came along (And boy, were their paws tired. ahh, bad joke. I just flew in from Albuquerque and boys are my arms tired…)
Tess: I think I’m over it now and raring to go. Boy, my shy shy graphic designer friend, Jae is doing a bang-up job on my CD art and I got some good practice in today, so things are going good music-wise.
Mama Zen: Clear, consise and lol, as usual.
Barbara: Were you a farm girl too? Yes, wonderful point about the doors opening and closing. As long as I can get my foot in one somewhere, I’m laughing. Happy Easter to you too.
Caity: Thanks for your continued lovely support! Do you like horsies? They taste a lot like chicken. Kidding!!
Lisa: Those kids have the time of their lives on Poppy’s farm. And at the beach. Always asking for a bonfire and sometimes tring to walk on the coals. Yikes!
Robbi: Be ye a betting man, then? never wager more than ye can afford. And never go across a spring creek on a bob-tailed nag. Nor look a gift horse in the hoof.
Folks, that’s my story and I’m so sticking to it!
