Silver Lining

Rooftop Yodeling | Posted by Jannie on 1 May 2009 @ 1:09 PM 38 Comments

Remember tree nymphs stole my digital voice recorder? Yah. But I don’t begrudge them, they’ve got song ideas they need to catch too.

One of the files on my recorder contained about 30 brilliant questions I’d compiled one day when I was feeling especially jaunty. A list for Kelly’s seven-year-old video interview. (A video which I’ll post here. Eventuellement. Probably in 2 installments.) Which will now have to be her 7 and 1/2 year interview. And by the time I actually get to it, it will be closer to her 7 and 2/3 year interview. Oh My God, my baby’s growing too fast. Where is the time going!?!??

But enough of that!

Alas, the mood of that jaunty day seems to evade me now and I can’t remember any of those inspired questions.

I’ve managed to eke out a few again…

1. Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
2. What do you think is humanity’s greatest current challenge?
3. If you could go one place in the world, where would you go? And why?
4. If you could meet one person from the past who would it be? And why?
5. If you could ask God one question, what would it be?
6. If you could have your kitty answer one question, what would it be?
7. Who wrote the book of love?

But I need your help! I’d love to hear your ideas for questions to ask Kelly for her video interview. If you could please submit them to my EFCS (Everloving Funster Commenting System) here below, I’ll be eternally even more in your debt than I already am. Thanks in advance.

Hi, Jannie. What I like to do, have done in the past, especially with young children.

Have your baby write a private letter now, and give her leadway in time, prompts, such as what do you think about the world, the president, your friends, parents. Favorite colors, your hopes, what scares you now, what do you want to do in x amount of years, then put on some soft music and let her go at it. Also let her include a poem and a drawing if she so wishes.

Then tell her you will mail it back to her on her 13th birthday, then when she is 13 have her do it again , promising to officially snail mail it back on her 18th. These letters are priceless.

Frinster, It is so that I have no answers, very few real questions that would shake the world, and I know what the meaning of life is (42).
Where I am it is 2147 of the 3rd day, May2009.I would ask whatever happened to 2146 of the 3rd day,May 2009, and then what difference in life would it make if someone could give me the answer.
One person that I personally would wish to converse with is William Shakespeare. Not only did he write material that is universal and timeless, he also invented the way we are as humans.Just reflect on this, “A coward dies each time his foot touches the floor from his bed, a hero dies but the once”
Kelly is delightful, but then she has a head start,it’s all in the genes.

Kimmi is definitely on the right track, maybe have her answer “some” of the questions every four years though. Little girls grow up way too fast, more than four years apart will not have the same effect. The Funsters have come through again:
    1. Do you dream of flying?
    2. Do you think Grandpa’s horses ever had wings?
    3. Would you kiss a frog?
    4. Who is your boyfriend now?
    5. Who is your best friend now?
    6. Would you like to be in Harry Potter’s school?
    7. Are snakes cute?
    8. Would you put a spider outside if you found it, or would you squish it?
    9. Do bunnies really lay eggs? And it so what color?
    10. Are there any dinosaurs left in Texas?
    11. Do you remember the Alamo?
    12. If you could design your own party, what would it be like?
    13. Are boys dumber than girls?
    14. What instrument would you really like to learn to play?
    15. Are dresses fun to wear?

I guess that will do for the mo.

Jannie, you might ask Kelly to put together a time capsule, that is a small box of 5-10 items that have some meaning in her life. She could also write a list of these things. You could bury it together in the backyard and unbury it when the time is write.

    Additional questions-
    1) What kind of planet would you like to live on and why?
    2) If you were stranded on another planet, what 5 things would you like to have with you and why.
    3) List 5 fictional characters you would invite to a tea party or dinner. Explain why.

    2) Compose a poem or song lyrics that express what is important to her right at this point in her life. You can create the music together (optional second part)
    3) Video tape her creating a wall mural with paint to paper (you tape the paper up and let her combine colors any way she chooses)
