Ordering The Funsterment
Ass Kicking | Posted by Jannie on 13 May 2009 @ 9:29 AM 64 Comments

MY FABULOUS NEW P.O. BOX !!!!!! - what a thrill. Now I’m more than ever a semi-somebody!
(Thanks Cedar’s Mountain blog for the ”semi-somebody” contribution.)
Have you noticed the new buttons on the kind-of-upper-right-area of this page?! Yes, three ways to add Jannie’s award-winning songstressing to your realm. (CDs $10.00, plus low S&H.)
1. By Paypal / credit card (that yellow “Buy Now” button)
2. Send money to MY FABULOUS NEW P.O. BOX !!!!!!
3. Buy the CD here in Austin at Waterloo Records.
(I’ll work on that i-Tunes thing next.)
My aim is to get my hands all sticky with HTML code and replace those 3 buttons to the right with one gloriously feng shui ”Buy Jannie’s CD!” button, to whisk you to my Buy CD page where you’ll commune with my spirit while ordering CDs to your heart and wallet’s content any time of the day or night, in any weather, in any manner of dress or undress.
And now… a total non-sequitur… what album(s) have you worn out playing?
I’ll go first… U2s “The Joshua Tree.” Carole King’s “Tapestry.” And Bach and Handel’s “Greatest Hits.”
And have you noticed a fair amout of ass-kicking around here lately??

How’s this for variety? In my car, so getting worn out.
- Emmylou Harris’s “Heartaches and Highways” (I love to imagine that I sing like her, but sadly, not.)
- Mendelssohn – Symphonies Nos. 1 and 5 “Reformation”
- 100% Disco. In my car for a road trip and I kept it in there for general happiness during regular days.

I’ve worn out a few – and Carole King “Tapestry” is for sure one along with The Alan Parsons Project “Eve”, Pink Floyd “Dark Side of the Moon”, Supertramp “Breakfast in America”, Jann Arden “Living Under June”, Michelle Branch “The Spirit Room” and The Platters “Very Best of The Platters”…and I could go on and on…lol…
I anticipate wearing out Jannie Funster’s “I Need A Man” very soon!

Jannie,
Hmm. So many choices… How do I narrow it down?
I will just list a few faves but I will surely feel guilty about those I didn’t list. These are in no particular order and you’ll notice there is a wide variety once I get past my double Tori selections. (It was extraordinarily difficult to pick any Tori CDs over any others!)…
1) Tori Amos’ “Little Earthquakes”
David Bowie’s “Best of Bowie”
2) Tori Amos’ “American Doll Posse”
3) Sarah Maclachlan’s “Fumbling Towards Ecstasy”
4) Depeche Mode’s “Violator”
5) James Taylor’s “James Taylor Live” (double)
6) Joni Mitchell’s “Hits”
7) Queen’s “Greatest Hits”
9) Enya’s “Watermark”
10) INXS’ “The Best of INXS”
11) I’m going to cheat and put your CD down here simply because every day when my daughter gets home from school now, the first thing she asks is to listen to your CD snippets. So we will surely be wearing out your CD once it arrives and since I already mailed you my order (I betcha you receive my mail order 1st)… I know that we’ll get your CD soon. Woo hoo!

Jannie, the journey to sharing love and expanding how you experience it is full of meaningful opportunities. You sense joy all along. Everything is working in your favor, even apparent glitches. They challenge you to stay focused on the positive energy you generate from the soul. Simply be willing to release thoughts that do not work for you. You are the captain of your own ship.

Lynn: Emmylou Harris’ voice is as if from another world. Sara McLaughlin is up there like that. Patty Griffin too. However, we all do have our unique and equally powerful voices to be heard as much as we want them to be heard. I do not have any Mendelsshon. I’ll check for those at the library. Ah! New classical music to blast and dance to in the car. Disco for general happiness during regular days – lol. It’s true tho. Do you have the one about putting on my-my-my-my-my boogie shoes??
Karyn: Wait let me Google that! Hey, I know that song. Is that lately you are listening to it with your kids? Or as a kid yourself? Quack, quack, quack.
Talon: Yes, oficialy organized, that’s me to a never ending tee!
Me too on The Dark Side Of The Moon and Breakfast in America. Could we have kippers for breakfast, Mommy Dear Mommy Dear? Oh yes, totally -it’s all coming back to me now. Did you ever have S.T’s “Even In The Quietest Moments” album? Some great great cuts on there too. Oh and Alice Cooper’s Flush The Fashion was another I played non-stop for a while. And Boston, what was their really really BIG record? Classic.
Lane: I don’t know if I’ve ever heard any of those 3. just so much amazing, amazing music in the world.
Jeanne, my lovely Jeanne: I must go check my mailbox!! Nope, not yet. I’ll watch every day and ship the next day! And how funny you guys are listening to my snippets, I hope the whole songs will live up to your expectations! I knew Tori Amos would have more than one on your list for sure. And love all the other artists you mentioned too, for sure! Sara McLaughlin’s voice is a miracle.
Vered: Was that in Israel where you grew up, or after you moved here to The States?
Liara: Yay! I love when you come over here to remind and guide about all the good things in life. Release the thoughts that don’t work. Release the thoughts that don’t work. Got it!

“Why Me?” by Planet P comes to mind.

So… are you plugging your CD on twitter yet? I am!
I’m tellin’ ya… twitter is gonna help make you even more famous than your current semi-somebody status. Far more well known than Post Office Box Queen.
Just remember you told you TweetDeck makes it much faster and easier to tweet, retweet, etc. Trust me… TweetDeck makes twitter from the web look downright ancient.
If I were you, I’d set up a hashtag specifically for your CD. Yup. People can devote an entire TweetDeck panel to retweeting your messages. I know I would. Right now I’m just retweeting the @janniefunster panel but if you kick things off with a hashtag for all your readers to follow and retweet your promotional messages (your sense of humor could make for the best promo tweets ever), your only problem would be keeping up with the orders. Seriously.

Debbie; Any code I’ve learned so far has been mostly stumbling upon discoveries or good old trial and error. I’m relaly excited about the CD sales. Just to have an actual product is a dream come true. All else is gravy.
Weyrd1: You have a P.O. Box too!!! Oh, I never knew the full depth and breadth of your allure until just now. I love my P.O.box key, all golden and shiny, with just the right tinkling sound against my car and house keys. Heaven! (But hey who’s supposed to be the weird one here?) Marie was a little cutie, for sure. Still an attractive woman today.
Momisodes: What would you like to change about your site via HTML? Even if the CDs sell like frozen waffles I’ll be pleased as punch.
But is punch really pleased? And how would one know?
Jeanne, Jeanne the Tweetdecking Machine!! That is on my list for tomorrow! Seriously. Gonna take this falling-apart laptop to a coffee shop with WiFi, sit there smoking my cigar, swilling my brandy and kick some Tweetdeck butt. Again – what would I ever do without you?? They will not accept checks or money orders now. I have worn out several Yo Yo Ma CD’s, bunches of Beatles, Joy Harjo, and all of the Joanie Mitchell. I also play movie scores. Danifer: Well, well — out of the bloggy mists of time comes you once again to grace this humble page. Welcome back! Really? You find things look different? My big eye’s still the same, tho, right?
Yeah, (puffs up chest, beams profusely,) got my very own P.O. Box now. Big big changes at Jannie Funster.com. Plus, got my CD done, had my big little show. And just ate some coffee Haagen-Dazs. Way too much of a somebody now.
Sara: I shall perhaps see a U2 concert when my cosmic energy has transmuted to “the other side.” Or I buy a ticket. Whichever comes first!! (Hopefully the former.) Or maybe see their concert in 3-D at an IMax. My hubby as a real thing for not liking Van’s voice, so my Van in this house, even to I do like him. is irst album! Whoa. Funny, I am just so happy with my music now if I never got any “further’ I’d be as happy. For me just doing it and reaching outside my comfort zone makes me feel like Song Queen of the universe! yay.
Tess: I am not exactly sure how a reader works as to “busyness.” Do you mean that you can actually see my traffic or something? This whole blogging / internet thing is still such a mystery to me in sooo many ways. I’ve only ever checked my stats once, so I might venture at that again. Be good for a chuckle, see what funny phrases people are finding me by. As to code, I stumble along a lot on my own. And when I get really stuck I hire Kim Woodbridge. Her fees are very reasonable and she’s a real crackerjack at Wordpress. Oooo, my P.O. Box photo a stroke of genius? That compliment will hold me for a good few hours. Well, Tess, I’m just a regular gal who realized I maybe have a knack for turning a melody and lyric and all the rest is elbow grease! Thanks for your eternal support, inspiration and friendship. And I don’t think I even have a copy of Tapestry anymore so we’re both on the same path with that! Never heard of Natasha Bennington. She must be good. Youtube…..
Lynn: Well, yes, now that you mention it, I must admit you do tend to get a little rambunctious over here in this puritanical ass-kicking bra-flinging zone. So tone it down, will ya??? My mom could drop by here any minute.
J.D.: Yes, I singlehandedly have gone where no Jannie Funster has gone before! I totally have to remember to order me a commemorative medal, or some fancy $10.00 a can caramel corn or something. Kiss was another band I wore out. And Oh. My. God. AC / DC Hells Bells – how could I have forgotten that? Me and Ruthie playing cards all weekend and drinking hot tea with milk back in high school.

Joaquin: I would only ever kick your posterior bodily region under extreme circumstances such as to get you out of the way of an on-coming bus or into a fleeing taxi. Only life and death situations.
And you did get your ass kicked here, yes. Inadvertantly. But resoundlingly when your masterpiece comment lay rent asunder on the rocks of my blog’s seedy underbelly.

Grannie Jannie… I mean “Funster Management”, please pass this along…
Message for Christine Gallagher,
1) Thanks for the tweet. I do think we need to start a twitter movement promoting Jannie’s CD.
2) Yes, as I tweeted you back… I can’t get enough Tori. I have every CD (not counting the 100s of imports and dance mixes, of course, because I’d have to be made out of money for that).
The only thing I’m lacking is her boxed set — but someday I’ll scrape up enough cash to afford that. In the meantime, I pre-ordered Tori’s new CD from Amazon via my blog (it’s out in a few short days)!
That should tide me over for awhile. Woo hoo! Best live performer I have EVER seen… and I’ve seen a lot of them.
3) Thank you for reminding me that I have a couple of Fiona Apple CDs that I need to dig up because they’re great!
4) When I picked the Tori CDs I did, I tried to pick LE for those who want to start with the basics and I picked ADP because I just really love it… (but I love all of them. Yes, Pele is a keeper for sure.
5) Gosh, haven’t heard Smashing Pumpkins in so long. Used to work in a big city with a cool alternative station that played them all the time.
6) U2… hard not to like. I like old U2 (i.e. War, Sunday Bloody Sunday).
Whew. I couldn’t resist responding when I saw your comment. Ask Jannie… I get very passionate about all things music!

Hi Jannie,
Thanks for dropping by, always a joy to see you. And yes, I did play the guitar, so was yesterday. ^^
Recently listen to quite alot of Daughtry; also some of the mix-hits back in the 80’s till today: Police, Reo Speedwagon, U2, Rick Springfield.. Boyz-Man, Lifehouse, Lincoln brewster, Bryan Adams… Yup, music is everywhere. ^^
Agree, you should definitely check out some Twitter desktop clients. I’ll be covering about those soon in my coming post. ^^ In the mean time you could get adapt with Tweetdeck first. Jeanne made a good point, and the hashtag idea is splendid. Twitter is definitely a place to start with especially you’re promoting the CDs. We’re lucky to have social media to make things happen. ^^

Hardly.
But nevertheless, tweaking a setting to keep everyone on their toes is a very good thing to do.
Yes, vinyl is making a comeback. With some of the newer bands, you can actually get the vinyl version of their latest release.
Managed to pick up ‘Vitalogy’ by Pearl Jam, ‘The Man Comes Around’ by Johnny Cash, and an album by the Offspring (sorry forgot the name) that way.

Yuck, HTML code — I’d make sure to put on the surgical gloves and booties. As far as albums, I’ve worn out the Rocky IV soundtrack to get all supercharged more times than I care to admit. But now I’ve gone and admitted it.

Frestoon, As it is I am a born again dyed in the wool Luddite I does not have many cd’s. I have tho the very first LP Hortense and the robbi purchased, (buddy greco/let the sun shine in) That I does have many giga-thingy’s of music stuffs stored on my PC watcha-m’callit is a yes an also some of them funny little hoozits you stick inna PC wot plays MP3’s they also have music in there. Once a time we sat in the very front row at a Tori Amos concert ‘cos I told Hortense Tori wos a red-hot piano player but wen Tori swung her legs around an faced the audience Horty put her hand in front of my eyes and made us leave at interval. I did ask why so and all Hortense would say was she wasn’t, inna funny voice, so we dint get to see anymore although Horty said she had seen enuf.Yu knos I doesnt speak lady all that well but yu also knos Horty has a strong will so I dussn’t argue. Leonard Cohen has see Tori play an we (horty an me) likes Leonard heaps so I ’spose that is okay. Lens olderanyways so I reckon the way Tori plays piano might jus suit a real old bloke, dint go down all that well with horty tho.

Jeanne: You know that line form Tori Amos from Crucify? “Every finger in the room is pointing at me…” that runs through my head sometimes. And her line about “God, sometimes you just don’t come through. Do you need a woman to look after you.” And of course, “When you gonna make up your mind – when you gonna love you as much as I do?” The latter as CLASSIC a lyric line as ever there were one!!! Gotta get on the olde Tweetdeck train. Just didn’t buckle down to it yet. btw, your CD went out yesterday!!! Sunday Bloody Sunday – yes GREAT FREAKING SONG!! P.S. now that I now your address – expect that load of wood very very soon!
Lane: Trout mask replica. Did they steal that line from you?
Ching Ya — always a joy to see YOU here too. You and Jeanne, you’re gonna get me Tweeting like a pro yet! Thanks. And play your guitar today too! I took mine to the river yesterday around 5:00 but it was too darn hot to play. No more polyester in Texas until mid-November I do believe. Whew. The river is best in the cool of the morning dew.
Rhett: Pirate away!
Brandi: What you doing in Dallas, Girl? Get you on down here to Austin, Live Music Capital Of The Whirled. Have you ever lived here? Actually, somedays I can’t even believe I live here even, tho I’m coming up on 19 years of residence here.
Blond Duck: Just make sure you’re sitting down to listen, my audaciously loud sounds might well knock you off your feets.
G: That’s it exactly! I keep my funstering friends paying attention. And have more attention-getting tricks up my sleeves too — working on the formula to have cheesecake and baking brownie scents waft from your screen each time you log onto my site. Think I’ve almost got it, so far the aroma comes out like peach cobbler. Wow, you quite the music-lovin’ man, for sure! you been like that long?
Edgar: Da-da-DAH! Da-da-DAH!! (Those first notes to Rocky’s theme.) Classic music. I needs to get me a copy of that. And Edgar, luckily all admissions here are kept in strict funstering condfidence. What’s admitted here, stays here, right Peeps??
Robbillio: The Tori leg- swinging and gyrating is a phenomenon, yes. I remember a reviewing male who wrote he felt as if he’d just cheated on is wife, watching a Tori concert. I too have seen these manner of rectangular flat-ish electronic acoutrements with earbuds attached and have oftimes contemplated the aquisition of said-same article. But of late I’ve also been witnessing the telephonicular 3G phenomenon — my mind is becoming enraged with too, perhaps to even contemplate owning one.
Snag: CSNY. Be still my aching heart for the sound of those voices blended in harmonious and evocative eternal ecstasy. Did you see “Because of Winn Dixie?” Matthews was in that, and a pretty good actor too!
Dudes, it’s coffee time!!

Jewel: I saw Keith Urban once on CMT, quite the hit with the ladies. Moving upwards? Well as long as I just keep moving forward, I’m happy!
Wade: Yay! A Waterloo Records sale! Whee-hoo. My favorite Sinatra is “The Main Event.” And forgot about Brothers Arms. Wore that one out too!
Sheila: Thank you for your warm and wonderful wishes. It’s friends like you that keep me inspired and moving along. And I feel so successful already!!! Actually, I think I have totally arrived.

Jannie,
Yes, Jannie, I know every lyric of every Tori song… but of course.
Yes, I am very familiar with all of the ones you mentioned.
Yes, this is a true CLASSIC line, “When you gonna make up your mind – when you gonna love you as much as I do?”
You talk about self-esteem commentaries and calls for people to engage in self-care. Phew! CLASSIC for sure.
Another one I like is,
I’ve found the secret to life
I’ve found the secret to life
I’m okay when everything is not okay
Is not okay…
Talk about how to sum up inner peace…
Now, I should warn you that TweetDeck takes a fair amount of memory. I had a friend today write me that she had to break down and buy a fan for her laptop and she was attributing her laptop’s difficulties with her recent installation of TweetDeck. So just a heads up on it.
Yay! My CD and jasmine moonbeams are en route. My pre-order Tori Amos CD is en route too. I wonder which one will reach me first? Woo hoo… I’m going to be in good shape.
Plus…. BRACE YOURSELF… my hubby just bought us an early anniversary present to each other (11 years):
The Tori Amos boxed set (have wanted this a LONGGGGGGGGGGG time). Dear heaven you should hear it! We just got it and I’m telling you it’s a slice of heaven!
Sunday Bloody Sunday… Yes, old U2 is just so amazing, isn’t it?
P.S. Yes, I expect you’ll be making a full-fledged wood delivery ASAP because I would like to meet you eye-to-eye.
