“Blame Tara Who?” Meme

Friends, Just Good Stuff, Seriously Weird 79 Comments

Posted by Jannie on 13 June 2009

I have no idea who Tara is, the sprite who incited both Deeper Issues Dot and Passing Thru Betsy to honor me with meme action, but I thank her deeply for this opportunity to share more deeply true Jannie.

1. Who is the hottest movie star?

Larry of the Three Stooges is my all-time fav, but if we’re talking contemporary actors, I like that Russell Crowe guy.  Girl-wise, I like Uma Thurman.

2. Apart from your house and car, what’s the most expensive thing you’ve ever bought?

Definitely my genuine-imitation Mr. Spock belt buckle, as seen on tv.  A $379.99 value I scored for only $19.99.

Next most expensive thing, my good-used marble cheese tray for $17.50.

3. What’s your most treasured memory?

Oh, I have so many, but the June Saturday afternoon I got my green wrestling outfit when I was 13 springs to mind.  I was so energized by the shiny spandex, I put ”Big Mike” McGillicuddy in a headlock for 30 minutes until he finally aplogized for teasing me all those years about my knobby knees.  Then all of us kids on both sides of the long-standing feud kissed, made up and went for shakes at the Dairy Dip where my Uncle Sylvester dropped by with his 3-legged goat, Miriam.

4. What was the best gift you ever received as a child?

The box of elbow macaroni Aunt Freda brought me from Italy.  I still have half of it.

5. What’s the biggest mistake you’ve made?

Putting salt instead of sugar in Uncle Sylvester’s birthday cake.  Whoops.  Miriam ate it, tho.  Stole the whole thing right off the picnic table and lived to “maaa” the tale.

6. 4 words to describe yourself.

Spritely.  Optimistic.  Forgiving.   Infinite.

7. What was your highlight or lowlight of 2008?

Getting the Christmas tree early was so great!  Jim brought it home the day after Thanksgiving, a real nice fir that had slid off some old guy’s truck at a red light.  Lowlight of 2008  — missing out on the bake sale at church ’cause I had to sit with the cat at the vet’s all day due to his post-neutering psychosomatica.  I heard there was divinity fudge.  And candy apples.  And baklava flaking so lightly and honeyed it could make angels cry for weeks.

8. Favorite film?

Three!   Waking Ned Divine.  Ghostbusters.  How To Hook A Rug In Four Minutes.

9. Tell me one thing I don’t know about you.

I wear a full-body vintage girdle every day.  Like this one…

10. If you were a comic book / strip character, who would you be?

I would be the stick-person named Susan Lam that Kelly created and centers her adventure stories around.

Bonus question: What’s one stupid thing you did today, Jannie?

Didn’t let the water run at least 45 seconds first thing in the morning before drinking some.

Ta-da!

Okay you guys know what’s coming next, right?  I’m supposed to pass this on to seven of you.  But I’m gonna make it 10, ’cause I like the number 10, it’s so… Metric System.

So, here goes.  And if anybody feels left out, please e-mail me and let me know you’d like to be tagged for my next meme, as I have no way of knowing who likes meming and who wants to avoid it like a rabid pigeon on a sugar-high.

1.   Tammy of Windows 2 The Soul
2.   Carla of Kootenay Bliss
3.   Teahouseblossom of Teahouseblossom
4.   Karyn of Sailor Mittens
5.   Bella of She Sleeps With Sea Glass
6.   Aimee of the Aimee Brons Blog
7.   K of Interstitial Life
8.   TheWeyrd1 of Keen Observer Of The Human Condition
9.   Lane Savant of Feel Free To Laugh
10. Adrenalynn of Rainy Day

Tagged ones, Blame Tara indeed!  :)

Well, a hearty welcome back Mike, and first to comment at that! I love knowing that there is indeed a Tara and I will certainly check out that link you left. I used to resist memes to an alarming degree but they’re getting easier. Twitter, I’m trying to go with the flow on but still don’t 100% get it either.

Betsy: I didnt’ let you down on the meme, nor Dot. And as I mentioned to Mike, I’m really starting to like meming. Like a lot of things, once you get your head around it, it’s actually kind of fun. You know, girdles are reportedly making a come-back. Click here for the finest in Modern “Compression Wear”… http://www.morrisdesigns.com/

Lynn: Of course all I write here on my humble blog is the Gods-honest truth, but that you would find humor in it is a wonderful bonus indeed. Well, the extent of my writing for now will probably be blogging, and that’s a good thing, but you never know what the future holds. And a bit off-topic, on a scale of 1 to 10 how is my “night stars” background grabbing ya, as compared to backgrounds you have seen here before?

Karyn: Birdseed blueberry pie – is that something good to eat? Or did you mean it was also a mistake, like my salt instead of sugar in the cake? And I will look very forward to seeing your answeres to this meme, or will Barkaly be answering?

Paige, my wonderful-wacky Paige: Thre are no doubt many of us girdle-girls around. Girdle wearers, Unite!! And THANKS for you going around to let the peeps know of their taggedness. Fred’s fired, and you’re hired! And thanks a big Billy-Bob bunch for letting me know of my link mistake to K. I went ahead and corrected it, thanks to you. And are you just loving your new Gravatar or what?? It is gorgeous, brings a tear to me widdle eye for such a beautiful job on that.

Now, without further ado I must go back over the the dojo and witness my little angel putting some Kung Fu hurtin’ on the big boys.

    xo

Oh and Russell Crowe blogging fan. He’s pretty hot, ain’t he? LOVED Master and Commander. LOVED A Beautiful Mind. Russell’s handsome and cute all at once, like my Jimmy.

Crap…that is SO unfair! I didn’t do nothin’ to deserve this meme… sigh. Seriously, I really don’t like these things much. Probably because there are sooooo many of these and I get tagged to do them more than I like. BUT, since you’re such a blog buddy, I’ll submit… Doesn’t mean I’ll tag it forward though…heh.

I normally don’t do meme’s anymore. They were okay when I was I first starting out, as they were an excellent way to tell people about myself, but now, having edited and refined what I read for blogs, I’m able to avoid doing meme’s.

That isn’t to say that I will always avoid doing meme’s, but for the most part, I think I’ve milked almost everything that I’m willing to admit to publicly about myself.

Having said that, I do have two meme’s coming up, but that should be it for a while.

Unless I get tagged with something that actually shows an unknown talent of mine.

Weyrd1: I know, I know. It’s a wicked burden. Sorry. I shied away from them at first. Now I hope I keep getting tagged and tagged and tagged. You can do it or not and tag it forward or not. Just wanted you to know I was thinking of you. :)

Vered: As I noticed in a previous comment of yours, you are have a liking for glazed donuts too. Seems you are another pastry fan. My dream pastry would be baklava without the nuts, and piled high in butter honeyed layers about 3 inches thick. OMG.

Talon! Was it just my eyes or did you go to the blown dandelion, then back to your white flower, then back to this blown dandelion again? Am I losing it? Oh, maybe you have 2 Gravatars under 2 e-mails? Anyway, back to the meme, Jim hasn’t been damaged too much by my girdle flinging, you’d hardly notice his limp at all if you weren’t looking for it. Kelly has 2 school writing journals filled now and I intend to scan some of it to post. Eventually. Like everything, eventually. I have to go the library to scan but the library ladies have forgotten that whole driving my Toyota through the front window thing, so are usually nice to me now. I’ll brave a chance.

Ooo, Lynn likes the Star Trek background! Hey did you ever watch Battlestar Gallactica? I liked it a lot. I wonder if they’ll ever bring it back to t.v. I’m thinking I’ll change up my background every Monday, even when the Tagline winners are done, but maybe then I’ll start a Pal Of The Week, or other such extravagant scheme, as that spot will be awfully empty up there under my Bog Eye in another 3 weeks.

Kim: We’ve had the same mailman for years and years and years. Randy. He just looks at me and shakes his head. Ahh, I’ve gotten it down to about 2 minutes for extracting myself from the girdle, but the flinging is just about as fast as my bra once I’m finally released, last night it ended up on the ceiling fan, looks so cute just dangling there.

Tammy: You think I’m sometimes a hoot? You gotta check out Paige who went over to let you know you’d been tagged. Gol, she makes my blogging job here easy. She’s self initiated, unlike Fred. And Tammy — have you ever had a rabid pigeon on a sugar high coming at ya? Not funny. Avoid it at all costs. Oh, and Tammy, I was actually tagged, like a week ago, so no rush!

Tess: Wow, some major runner’s hot legs, you got there! Hot like Larry Fine. Oh Larry, Larry, just the meniton of your name. Tess, you wanna get tagged next time?? you bet! Hope somebody memes me soon. Ah, you are too kind about recommending me for laughter.

Mama Zen: And I’m at my most stpritely when I riverdance in my assless hip-waders while singing “Moon River.” At a very spritely pace, of course. Would you like to see that on video? I also can sing “I’m A Lumberjack” in same get-up.

And have you guys noticed comments are getting posted immediately, instead of going into moderation? And I haven’t even pressed that button yet. That’s just weerd. But then again, weerdness seems to be catching around here.

    Later!

See, see what I mean on that last thing I said?! G’s comment arrived moderation-free while I was writing above! Hmn, maybe there was some kind of statute of limitations on the weerdness factor.

G: Are you going to tag me???? Please! I’m totally a non-niche niche so am open to anything inspirational. I love how these memes bring up such long-forgotten things for me. Such deepness I thought I could never actually attain.

Lance: Don’t you just feel so extra-kindredly toward me now, knowing all I’ve suffered in life?? :)

Debbie: I’m glad you enjoyed it! It was fun to write.

Ella: Is that really you?? How you been? Where you been? :)

Thomma Lynn: I’d be happpy to send you some of the elbow macaroni, if you like? A few pieces I could certainly spare and mail off to Tennessee!

Snag: The Gladiator was great too, oooo ya! But as memory serves, was there not some violence in it? Not that Master & Commander had none. I just hate to see men in rings getting gored to the death & such. I like a nice suprise quick slaying in movies. My dad had a goat that ate EVERYTHING he could.

Shay: I guess you read this in a reader? Funny, ’cause after I published it that’s exactly what I said to me — I meant MISTER Spock, and edited it immediately, altho my Dr. Spock belt buckle is a nice one too, cost just $2.98.

Lynn: My penpal Diane in Brisbane does go to those Trekkie conventions – has a hoot. Me, I went to one only, as a tribble, going boldly where no Jannie had gone before and got my buttocks resoundingly bashed by a Borg.

Adrenalynn! Hello. How are you? Still surviving the meme-tagging experience I hit you with? :) And wow, you got tagged straight from The Source, Herself! Whoa, have I stumbled upon meme royalty here, or what?? Yes, mentally noted – you to tag next time. Cool. Oh, and I will definitely check out that link you left!! Thanks.

Well, well, speaking about the source… there is THE TARA in comment number 36. Oh the thrill of the Meme Queen’s visit. Hi TARA!! Welcome. I love your gravatar, I’m quite partial to all things cake / pastry. I’m totally going to check out your blog and that original meme. And please don’t blame me for the “blame” part, :) that’s how I received the meme. :) It was such a hoot of a meme. Great to meet you too!

Aimee: Ooo, you’ve taken the challenge. Thanks for being such a sport. Looking very forward to hearing your answers! Girdle? Well, Aimee, I’ll leave that up to your imagination. :)

Davina: Have you ever put salt instead of sugar in cooking? In mass quantity, like over a cup of it? Not fun and not at all good tasting. Poor Uncle Sylvester. He’s from Winnipeg you know. Yep, God rest his soul. His 3-legged goat did tricks. :) I’ll write more on that in the future.

Carla: Really put you on the spot, eh? Thanks for being a sport. I used to find these hard to do but now that I know how to tap my genuine true deep Jannie source of memory, I love memes! :)

Snag: What? You think I’m not kidding about the girdle? Boy, what the heck did I open my mouth with this time and let fly out? I just never know (or remember) what I’ll say next. Oh, it’s so weird about my commmenting moderation. Kind of a long unexplainable story but let’s condense it to how some are being moderated. Some which were being held are now posting right away. But yours got held here. Larry Fine was fine indeed. Of course, I’ve got a thing for Jewish men, anyway. I wonder why that is? They’re just so darned attractive, well a lot of them, anyway! Dylan, Cohen, Einstein! Gary Jockelman (He was a guy I had a crush on many many moons ago in Canada.) tmi? :)

K: Will ye have a whack at it, then? I know you’re busy and all. But I love your blogging. You’re such an interesting hoot. Just wondered what you might want to tell us in your witty and wonderful way. :)

Thus ends our sermon for today. Please open your hymnals to page 468. And have a super-great day!

    Amen. :)

I kind of agree with Mike Goad, meme-ing just doesn’t float my boat. I do not mind answering the questions, but I feel silly passing on the meme to the few real cyber pals I have.
    1. HOTTEST MOVIE STAR:
Most people say Brad Pitt who is the new Rob Redford.
I liked Mel Gibson until he went bald, became a drunk, and a bigot. Russell Crowe is a hell of an actor, and works hard to downplay his matinee idol looks.
Girl-wise I go with talent first, and looks second, so Meryl Streep is still top of the heap, but Cate Blanchett is there too, and Kate Winslet. Angelina Jolie is eye candy, and can act if directed well.
    2. MOST EXPENSIVE THING BOUGHT? Flat screen HD plazma TV probably. Not a fisherman, so no bass boat. Not a camper, so no huge tent. Although if you add up the DVD and VHS costs, since I have 13,000 movies in my basement man cave, that probably takes the frosting.
    3. MOST TREASURED MEMORY:
Sitting with Henry Fonda and 30 other people in 1974, in a small room at AFI, just chilling and talking and being in awe of a living legend. I was an actor then.
    4. BEST GIFT RECEIVED AS A CHILD:
A Confederate army hat and pistol belt and cap gun from the TV show THE REBEL. I liked Nick Adams in that.
    5. BIGGEST MISTAKE:
My first marriage; 5 years of yelling and hypertension.
    6. 4 WORDS TO DESCRIBE YOURSELF:
    Articulate Type-A Poet Goodhusband
    7. HIGHLIGHT & LOWLIGHT OF 2008:
High: Getting to know my two infant grandsons who lived with us for six months while their daddy was in Iraq.
Low: When they left for Colorado.
    8. FAVORITE FILM?
SPARTACUS, MAN FOR ALL SEASONS, BECKET:
MATRIX SERIES, HARRY POTTER SERIES, IRON MAN:
SHANE, BIG COUNTRY, ONE-EYE JACKS, QUIGLEY DOWN UNDER:
CASABLANCA, FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS, THE MISFITS…
    and about 2,000 others.
    9. ONE THING YOU DON’T KNOW ABOUT ME:
I have written two novels, both unpublished and gathering dust: BAERBACK, and BLACKTHORN.
    10. WHAT COMIC BOOK CHARACTER WOULD YOU BE?
Perry White, Editor of the Daily Planet in SUPERMAN.
    11. ONE STUPID THING YOU DID TODAY:
Brushed my teeth with Preparation H.

Glenn: You Crack Me Up!! YOU DID NOT HAVE TO DO THE MEME, you realize? (But I’m glad you did.) And I thought Lane might bite. My — such manly movies you favorite. A manly man, I’m sure. Brad Pitt does nothing for me, nor Johnny Depp. I liked Mel too, but he blew his whole image lately. I’m in total agreement with you on those first 3 female actors mentioned. Total! Will have to Google AFI. Do you still wear your confederate hat? How sweet you were able to spend the time with your 2 grandbabies. And WHY are you not pursuing publication of said novels??? Ooo, that Prep H will get ya everytime. Yuck! :)

Hey Lane: I’m very happy you are honored! You made me Google Jaques Tati, but I’m not sure if I know him. I may and may not know it. Hassled by Seattle Syhphony Security in your own town? What? As to number 5, what kind of a shop did you have? As to number 6, what guts you have in your honesty. I didn’t have the guts to tell my yucky suff, kudos. The triplets of Belleville, are those the blonde-jeaded ukulele singing sisters, around 70 years old? Number nine – GO FOR IT!! I did listen to your CD last night. Number six, as well as the scream in number 1, CRACKED me up. And Lane, as Liara Covert points out, there are no stupid things. :)

Kelly: I am very much looking forward to the continuation of your story. I wonder when the EVIL JELLY BEAN makes his or her appearance and how that will sway the plot. And “gimmanore?” Where DO you come up with this stuff, Child?? And we’ll get you your own gravatar, as I mentioned, tied to your own gmail account. But now that you’re reading so well you can’t read my “Like A Bord On A Wire” and “Funny SEO Keyword” posts okay, not until you’re 12. Cool, thanks!

Liara: I never dreamed that I would at this “advanced” age on my earthly journey be expanding myself so. How fortunate to have discovered your teachings. Now on page 16 of Self-Disclosure. Very very original how you wrote it too.

Hey, Jannie-Meister here. Well, have you been noticing blue bunny around the comments area? Yep, he got the most votes. And wants to appear in a guest post on Wednesday, so I’m gonna let him have his say. Hey, why not?

    Now…

Yaya: George Cloney Who? Nope, I like to separate the man from the myth, need the total package deal, onscreen and off. And Larry and Russell are it for me.

Cath: It was really quite a memorable headlock indeed. You’ve heard about great strength a la Sampson (when he had his hair,) well that was me in that wrestling outfit. Unstoppable. Of course, Big Mike was so stubborn. Man, he was a hard one to make say “Uncle.” But I had to show him I was done with his shennanigans once and for all. And the girdle… does Jannie,or doesn’t she? Hmnn. Only Blue Bunny and my stylist know for sure. :)

Bella: How excellent. I must rush on over there and peer deep into your soul via your deepest life admissions. And here goes I!

But first: A Patricia to say hello to and thanks for your visit. And comment! And a Tara and angels again to thank and wish well. And send to bed laughing with fresh molecules of purity.

    Nite!

Jaques Tati was a French comedian. Made three movies, maybe more. “Mr Hulots holiday” “Mon Oncle” and one I don’t remember.
Very droll French humor. Back in the 50’s or 60’s.
Tripletts of Belleville is French also, an animated feature concerning a Tour de France bicylist, his devoted mother and a trio of caberet singers.

And I was being a real good girl and hadn’t so much as tasted a hint of the dough, so I could enjoy a nice plate of cookies with milk as reward for all my hard work. Yuck!! All I could do was throw them out. Oh and Dot, Jim did bring the Christmas tree home the day after Thanksgiving last year, but it was from Lowe’s. Beautiful one, tho. And only $25.00!! Remember it?

    Funstropled, Life is soooo very complex, as moving picture stars wax and wane verily much more than the ones in the sky, but I does have a sneaky look at George Clooney from time to time and having seen little Mrs Kidman’s girly in white cotton undies, sans everything else, in a play(at which I was in the front row)I guess she might be on my list.As for things what did change my life,well I would have to put Shirley right up there. I quote;
    “oh Shirley
    pirouette of my childhood
redgold autumn hair glinting in dusty sun,
    you laughed and teased
    spun dreams with indelible lies,
    and bade me love you
    for I did

    warm memories of forever summers
    and hidden fumbles
etched your heart on my soul,
    as the days spread open
you blithely danced your schemes whilst I segued my way
    through each tangled web ,
then waited in weary eagerness for
night and sleep, just another passage to the doorway
of your history becoming my dreams

we watched the autumn dragonflies as they flew joined
in loves grace together , kissing still green water
then once , you said we could do that
as all innocents have and will,”

It does go on ,but you get the picture no doubt.Girdles were once in my dreams, however I have toddled on from that,’twas but a phase in my otherwise stunted growth. Elbow macaroni? i’d ‘druther stick a feather in my cap, spirali for me!
