Hair Style: We Goin’ Radically Retro

Kelly and I have been contemplating hairstyle make-overs for a while now. Well, thanks to Morgan Howard at her Creatively Logical Blog, we discovered a cool site, Yearbook Yourself, to upload our mugshots to and voila! Previews of ourselves in these seriously interesting dos.

I’m leaning towards the 1982 for me and she likes the 2000 for her. Or do you think we should stay with our current looks below, in the photos we uploaded for this extravaganza?
Is just me or is Kelly a dead ringer for Mia Farrow in the 1974?
And why do we look like Uncle Sylvester from Winnipeg in the 1972?

Ooo, I love your 1974–that is so cute! And look at little Ms. Kelly in 2000! Haha, I’d stay with your current looks…even though you’d definitely be making a statement with some of those styles!
I’m glad that you did this and had fun with it and thanks for the Shout Out!

Jannie,
This sure brought a morning smile to my face. The older we get the more embarrassing hairdo’s we have to apologize for. My favorites are the “big hair” do’s of the 80s. My kids had a good laugh the other day. They never knew mom had so much hair, compared to me now — a la Buddhist style today. Chuckle on! (ps. Did you get my letter?)

2000 looks like a most excellent choice for young Kelly.
For you, though, I think it really has to be 1972 or 1978. Don’t you think you look completely awesome with those hairdo’s! Well…you look awesome today too…just sayin’ – these would both just be a different flavor of awesomeness!!
Way funny today (oh wait…you always are!)!!

Oh Jannie – these are hysterical! I think the 1956 one for you – or maybe the 1968. I can’t believe that I was actually in fashion more than I had realised – maybe that’s not such a good thing. My mother has had that 1952 do the whole time I have known her (that was the year she got married). – R

Hilarious! I think you should stick with yourselves in color.
Have you noticed that 1998 is exactly the same as 1988?

Now this posting has to be one of your best efforts! What a corker. My favorites for both of you are the looks in 1974 and 1996. The bee hive specials and the hippy looks, and the fro’s, are just a hoot. I did not like the 50’s cuts on most girls even when I was there with them. Of course there I was with sideburns down to below the ears, and grease in my long hair, pulled back into a duck tail in back, with my tee shirt sleeves rolled up, my levis rolled up, chewing on a toothpick; I never was a smoker. Don’t know how in deuce you did the technical side of these drop ins, but they are simply
wonderful. I had belly laughs at many of them.

I like you both just the way you are. Safe flight, Jannie!

I think you are two pretty cute ladies right now – wouldn’t change a thing!

It seems hair trends are universal. Have seen most on these in India as well. Some of these are totally hilarious. Kind of makes me think ‘What were they thinking?!’
I guess I shouldn’t laugh much … that’s exactly the same thing someone else would say when they see my pics a decade down the line

Is it wrong that I’ve had more or less the same hair for the past 13 years? Or does that mean I’ll have less to apologize for later?

Those are too funny. I recently went a bit retro. I gave myself some blunt, graduated bangs. I like to put on a scarf and my big Jackie-O sunglasses and voila…Movie Star Aimee. I think 1978 could have similar effect for you. I’m thinking Jannie Fawcett.

Morgan: 1974 is kind of acceptable on me, I look a bit like Princess Di, I think. Yeah, thanks for the tip. I spent about 2 hours on this and showed my husband the preview last night and his reaction was “Shouldn’t you be down painting the bedroom or something, instead of this.”
Carol: And since this posting Kelly went out and got her bangs cut — so cute. I’ll post pictures of course. She looks smashing, if I may be so gloating.
Mama Z: I thought so! You gonna give it a whirl and post one or some?
Jan: I actually kind of like those 802 and the 1992. I like your short crisp and clean Buddist style! And the letter — thanks!
Lance: You lovin’ the ‘72??? You’re a blast. I think I look like a blond Elvis Costello ibn that one. You know that site also has guys do’s too! Yeah, like you have so much time on your hands to do these!
Robin: Yeah on the ‘56! I could even buy a poodle to complete the look. And ‘68, cool, man. cool.
Dot: Color is defintely better on us yes! And very observant on the ‘88 and ‘98, I had not noticed they are the same.
Deere Glenne: my jannie i thinks looking good in all years but from 1996 is good like you sez. I hoping my jannie do up my haircuts too and ebbrybutty can sees me looking mor better even gooder handsum than usurle. wood you haff bellie laffs at me too? i hoping so.
Oh Talon: Do you have the pix for some of them? I do remember my mom in the ‘76, but she went back to the ‘54 and seems . Thanks on the safe flight, less than 2 days now. I have this knot in my tummy about us going away from Jim. I actually wish we were back already.
Lynn: I like the ‘66! Very simple. My mom had that kind of and we used roll our gum balls down it. And oranges when she used extra spray!
Paige: You gonna try some?
Avani Mehta: You bring up an excellent point — will today’s styles be the nightmares and jokes of the past??
Tess: If you’re good at cutting hair will you come and do me up in the ‘68. You’ll have to put extensions on me tho as I have bangs that will need to be blended in. Thanks!
Cinderkeys — not wrong at all! We get to a placae where we cannot improve on perfection, I guess. I’ve had mine like this for about 13 years too. The only difference is I started perming my bangs about 5 years ago, which kind of beefs up my basic do.
Tammy: So the ‘64??! If you wish, right-click on it and save me as your screen background. And as to my next post I have no idea. We’re flying to Canada Wednesday. Not sure when or what I’ll be posting next. Maybe Jannie Bouffant in Canada??
Aimee: Totally! Jannie Fawcett, that’s me. I bet you’re the epitome of glamorous in the B.C. mountains as you sashay with abandoned nonchalance from cafe to cabaret?
Caity! You gonna upload your mug to Yearbook Yousrelf? Love you too!
Vered: 1978 is not too far from what I’m trying to achieve these days, except I do need bangs to cover my freakish forehead.
And that’s over and out for now, hair lovers.

OHMYGOSH! What fun! I definitely see Mia Farrow in ‘74, and I agree that Kelly wears the 2000 hair very well. You both actually look cute in several of the hair-do’s. You should have used your husband’s pics too. Just for giggles.

I was messing with you about that blog post. Just being silly. Oh, don’t be heartbroken, but I can’t set you as my desktop background. Sorry, Jannie, Jesus is on my background and I can’t give Him up for ya. Would that be like a Glenn Close sorta creepy thing? Or “obsession”? Have you seen that movie? I watched half of it and then had to drop it for some reason.
Better watch out when your fans start wearing blonde wigs Jannie……….problem. Call security. The stalkers are on the loose.

Hello Jannie,
LOL These are great! I have an idea! Instead of choosing just one hair style how about rotating them? Ok, you could do a “Hairstyle of the Month” sort of thing! There’s like two years worth of hairstyles here! What do you think? Great idea, right?

Sheila: It’s funny how in the ‘60 and ‘62 it looks like Kelly and I were actually in those photos. Scary!
Chris: As cute as I may look in a couple — I look butt-ugly in others. Yes, I thought later I should’ve used Jim’s photos. And I will in an upcoming post.
Tammy: And I’ve already had to put an extra wing on our mansion for a security control central, for my fans. Well, I guess I could let Jesus get ahead of me.
You must mean Fatal Attraction? Spooky movie. I actually watched part of it on cable a few months ago and it stands the time-test pretty well.
Giovanna: It is hilarious to look back at all these. I distinctly remember my older cousins in the 1976 and wishing I could get away with no bangs like that too.
HP: Thanks for popping by! And are you gonna Yearbook Yourself?
Matthew: Yeah Baby! All the way.
Joaquin: Tootsie! That’s it!
Hairstyle of the month, lol that may have to be “wig” of the month.:) Thanks for popping by!
Weyrd1: Yeah, I totally forgot about the new wave ones. A rel travesty they were not featured here.
Thomma Lyn: I think the 1980 is the one that made me laugh most. Did people REALLY wear that? And are you going to Yearbook Yourself?
J.D. I could never get my thin hair to do 99% of the stuff here, that’s for sure.
Snag: I thought ‘64 was a pretty good year (my birth year.)
It is hilarious to think what people actually thought was attractive. Leaving tomorrow, but I should be posting some when I’m away.
Toodles!
