Somewhere In Paradise

Family, Just Good Stuff | Posted by Jannie on 18 August 2009 @ 11:38 AM 50 Comments

Hey all!  Here’s where Jannie’s been hanging out –  the Bay Of Chaleur at Mom & Dad’s cottage.

Last year they added on a little porch with 5 windows.  Put in solar panels too.

We likes it a LOT.

Love hearing the waves splish and splash.

Great place for young kids…

and bigger kids, like my sister and me.

Mom has it fixed up real cute inside.

Sunsets are not bad here.

Neither are the bon fires at night.

We’ll be back home one week from today!   I hope to post again in the meantime.  If not, ’cause I’m enjoying my coffee and favorite beach chair and such, I’ll see you back in Austin.!  xoxoxoxo

Hey there my Canadian friend. What a great place for kids of all ages! Did someone say peaceful – it sure does look that way. The sunsets, the quiet beaches, a campfire on a cool evening…does life get much better than that? I don’t think so… Enjoy the rest of your time in this special place…

Jannie, you share with the zest of a samaritan. Thanks for the peek at your week. Where is the Bay of Chaleur? This is not the same spot where you Dad and Mom have the horses, is it? How wonderful to be there for the 50th, and have the neices and nephews frolicking. Nothing like the beach to recenter one’s spirit. That beach fire looks yummy. Kelly is enjoying herself, per usual. The grandparents must be delighted for the visit and family time. Austin is still burning up. What are the temps like in Canada? After seeing the pic of your parents, one sees why you and your sister are so pretty. Nothing succeeds like good genetics, enit? You need some pics of the parents on the next photo junket.

Wow, me again so soon! Who knew??

Lynn: It was not too bad there. At all. Wish you could’ve been there too. You’d be he one looking like Susan Sarandon, right??

Dot: Mom has been collecting stuff from yard sales since I can remember, and I did not fully realize until this year just how much cool old stuff she has.

Thomma Lynn: Thank you. It was a very “rustic” place they bought in ‘82 and fixed up a lot. Will you please be our guest there sometime?

Aimee: My folks are good old-fashioned peeps. And the older I’ve gotten the better they’ve become. How’s that?!

Vered: I am quite happy for me too! We are very lucky to have had such a wonderful trip.

Renee: When it started hitting minus 20 in November you might be inclined to seek a warmer spot. :)

Liara: That ROCKS! I do believe you will give me some lyrics for what eludes me thus far for some melodies. Thanks.

Caity: My soul was happier there on that bank overlooking the Bay than it has ever been. Join us there sometime!

EVERYBODY: You all have a standing invitation at Mom & Dad’s cottage. Okay??

Betsy: Would love to have you visit there sometime. Something tells me you would fit in just perfectly with the ageless souls up there.

Talon: Dear Talon, you were with me there in spirit. And dang, those Mr. Bigs were frigging EXCELLENT!!

J.D. Heaven, yes. And Mom has such a nice decorating touch. Yep, nothing quite like the beach indeed.

Davina: I must post the entire 4 or 5 pics in that sunset series as it went down.

Snag: Thank you. You know I thought of you often as I took those pix, you in your own ocean world. And it’s funny how you mention “home.” I love it there. And I like it very much here too, but I do think my native land holds a bit of an edge over Texas. But if you gotta live in Texas, Austin’s THE place to be.

Barbara: I am refreshed. A little philosophical, as to time passing and aging. But that too shall pass as I do a few grand jetes in the frozen pizza aisle.

Cinderkeys: Yes, you ALL have a standing invitation there. Maybe we can have One Grande Blogging Convention near Bathurst, New Brunswick, Canada!!

Lance: That area would benefit from your sunshine. Next year? You and your family come visit us there? I hope so!

Sheila: Yes, the killer whales are very tame! Sweet little bottles too. Why did I not really notice them until this year? Um. maybe cause I’m looking through the eyes of potential blog pix now? :)

Glenn: The zest of a samaritan! lol. I used to use Zest soap (manly yes, but I liked it too.) The Bay of Chaleur is between the provinces of New Brunswick and Quebec in Atlantic Canada. Our cottage is about 7 miles from Mom and Dad’s main house. And how sweet of you to compliment, we look more like our dad, but some like Mom too.

Mama Z: And I was jealous of your vacation spot! lol I still remember that tanned pic of you-poolside.

Jim: We are down the coast a few cottages from a campground which does see quite a few visitors, but by and large it’s not a well-travelled beach. Much privacy indeed. The solar energy is great, yes. They plan on putting in more panels too. Eventually!

Hey, Nadia! Great to see you. It was perfect, except Jim could not be there with us this year. Oh well… somebody had to go and have fun. :)

Avani: I was more peaceful there than I’ve ever been. Will you join us sometime?

K: Thank you. It was pretty special. Even when the kids squabbled, as kids are wont to do.

Weyrd1: It was surprisingly not cool in the evenings, we had excellent weather, generally about 85-90 daytime highs and 70 at night. Roasted wienies and marshmallows. God, I love them roasted marshmallows. Do you?

VeRonda: I hope you have had happy travels too this summer? And just 5 days until Kelly is back to school. Been such a wonderful summer!

Christa: Hey, didn’t you used to be Christina? :) Thanks for visiting again. I am so refreshed and renewed. Join us sometime?? Your little boy would love the beach.

Zeenat: Sure use that or any pic on your blog. I only ask you give me a link of acknowledgment, if you don’t mind? I’ll be posting the whole series of that sunset at a future date. It was amazing!!

Hey John, my Youtube lifesaving buddy, you! So sweet of you to pop in again. I am very much looking forward to getting over to your blog again. My plan is to answer all these comments, as I am doing. Then go a-visiting all blogs in order of how the comments came in. Ah, ha! A madness to my blogging method.

Ching Ya: That palace seems to pack in as much color as possible, I think due to the fact it’s nothing but grey and white for about 6 months of the year. That green is almost obscenely green. Heaven it was!

G: Seeing as you said you haven’t been to a beach in YEARS, could that one entice you to a shore again? :)

    Wade: Stay tuned!! :)

Tess: Sweet and solid these memories of hearts entwined. xo

Patricia: Thank YOU for being my dear friend to share it with!

Deere Robbi: Yes, my jannie is a goode chooser of peeps and of love and lites in her harts.

Mia: Sorry. Can you see it in your heart to forgive me?? :)

Adrenalynn: We all have our days in the sun. Sometimes we can create a vacation in our minds. Wine helps. :) Margaritas good too.

Debbie: It’s a place I would never leave if I had enough donuts, steak and broadband wireless 24 / 7.

Snag: We sure kept our eyes out but Bill stayed away from us. A bit of grey skies for a while, but the sun burst through quickly. Nova Scotia got it too. Bet you loved MORE rain. :) Little rain toad get a work-out??

Surrender: I LIVE for nature. I guess we all do, right? We ARE nature.

Kathy: Nice work if you can get it, indeed. You know that old jazz standard?

Hey Dear Sweet Carol: So sweet of you to pop in again, thanks. No stress eating up there for me! Just pure unadulterated gluttony! I drank 3 beers one night. And so did my sis.

Joaquin: Thanks for your non-jealous big attitude. :) That is a place where your poems would write themselves. Oh wait — your poems already write themselves — at least it seems they do.

Katie: Get out! You put me in Wikipedia? You’re kidding, right? Okay,I’ll have to verify that, but it sounds like a hoot. And yes, it was a tough place to be for almost 2 weeks but I gave it the olde stiff upper lip and soldiered on. :)
