Yes, this blog is ONE YEAR OLD today!!
Whoo-hoo! Party-party!
Yesterday Blue Bunny blurted out at our Funster Inc. monthly Blog Strategy board meeting, “my jannie, you blogg is growed. i clikked you Alexxa weedgit todae and you is so bucktotts kikking!”
And he’s (she’s?) right!
In the stunning chart revelation above you will note my bumpy, yet overall somewhat steady lurch towards expanded web presence. (That tallest spike was for this post that got thousands of Stumbles.)
Whoo-hoo!
(Yes, Alexa shows this site existing prior to Sept 22nd 2008, reflecting my old comment-less blog, but that saga era is so water under the pre-Wordpress bridge for me.)
Birthday-Birthday! It’s my special day!!
And holey kadiddlehopper, my Alexa stats show that these past 3 months I’ve lured an average of 0.0004% daily internet users here. I know, I know — a real mind-bender of my sheer global reach.
And did you know I’m really getting popular in Romania among the beer and donut set, especially the bra flinging beer and donut set? Yep! I’m totally, like — the 69,417th most popular site over there! And Bulgaria – don’t EVEN get me started on Bulgaria, I’m trying to remain just a tad humble here.
But, seriously…
It’s been one AWESOME year. THANK YOU ALL SOOOO MUCH!!!!!
If I were to single out every one of you for kudos on the ways you’ve inspired, bolstered and generally buffeted buffered me against the storms of life in just one year, this post might never end. Suffice it to say, YOU are the reason for my blogging season. In fact, there is so much joy in my heart for all of you, I might just spontaneously explode into a combustion of glazed donuts all over this genuine refurbished Dell 8200.
And the best blogging is yet to come, of course.
Always the best of everything yet to come in life!
Anyhoo…
As I enter my second year of blogging (whoo-hoo!) I ask you three burning questions…
Any blogging advice for me?
Anything you’d like to see more (or less) of at Funstertown?
Any rhubarb recipes or rhubarb life-experiences to share?

Thank you. Your visits here are always a treat for me, as is your blog – speaking of which, you are soon going to be paid a visit by somebody over at your blog. Now, whoooo could that be?
Betsy: I can buy a beers now wit my ID??
Dot: Yes, I WAS so nice to you wasn’t I, whenst I first crashed your blog. Too bad I’ve slid to treating you like such crap.
Jewel: A music adventurer after my own heart, of course! Yes, more of that, indeed, great suggestion. I have been working on music things but keeping them in my own mind mostly — it’s soon time to share the trials and the transcendance!

Woohoo! That is a milestone to celebrate Miss Jannie! I think that you should keep on being your funny quirky shining a light in the darkness of light ole self! (Oh yea, and more rhubarb…you can’t have enough rhubarb!) As a kid I used to just eat rhubarb out of the garden scooping up healthy heaps of sugar. How about a rhubarb apple pie? Now that would be good, with a crunchy topping…and some whipped cream…yummy!
Enjoy the day!

Birthday Girl checking in. Whoo-hoo! I’m so stuffed with cake I can hardly hold any more beer.
Positively Present: Thank you! I’m so excited, in case you hadn’t noticed.
Well, Hi Yira, so nice of you to pop on over here too. It was fun to visit you via Lance’s wonderful blog. And I PROMISE from this day forward I will do my very very best to keep it funny. No more of my whining and moaning around here.
Cal: Wow, the blogging love keeps on winding it’s circuitous yet steady way from site to site. Thanks for popping by, via Yira. Look forward to checking out your blog too.
Erin: WHY did I have to ask about rhubarb to have you respond so tantalizingly deliciously like that?!? You had said enough without having to slap me with the crunch topping part. Well, I had it coming, egging on a rhubarb fan like you.
Talon: O Talonted one, the strains of your heavenly singing voice now ringing like the finest of custard in my head. Thank You! I most likely wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for your wonderfulness. Remember this post??? http://www.janniefunster.com/2008/11/24/why-do-you-blog/ Gosh, that was TEN months ago!
Paige: Oh,yes, the lure of a well flung (or even not so well flung,) bra! Nothing like it to get the blog ratings up. I can’t believe we will actually be meeting and having fun In Real Life is just a month! Now that’s a total bona fide whoo-hoo!!! Yeah, Kelly gets tired of me posing her all the time, but oh, well, that’s “show biz.”
Lynn: Remember this post? … http://www.janniefunster.com/2008/12/15/three-good-things/ You were wonderful then. And you still are now. And I’m willing to bet you ALWAYS will be. Thank you Lynn, you are a shining star here and have been with me since practically the git-go, like Talon and a few others.
Tom: You got it!! Heaps and heaps, if not mountains, of wild-ass antics to continue as long as the old grey matter and cellular mass configuration many refer to as Jannie are alive and ticking. And you keep up the wild-ass authenticity too over there in Delightfuldom, okay?!

Woohoo! I’m wearing my party hat and polka-dotted underwear to celebrate! All for you!! Woohoo!! My advice, oh blogger (with comments) of one year: keep being “you”. It’s real and it shines! And rhubarb: funny story – my parents told me that no one can kill rhubarb. So a few years ago, they brought down a bunch and planted. We killed it. Without even trying. Disproves that theory. I’ve been using green magic marker on my thumbs ever since (unfortunately it washes off…).
Oh yeah – woohoo!! I’m dancing and celebrating with you! Got Jannie on in the background…life is way, way good!

1) blogging advice: you get more hits in an hour than i do in a week, so i’ll pass on that one. just please don’t stop!
2)does funstertown have a mayor? if mcdonaldland has mayor mccheese, funstertown should have a mayor too.
3) when i was little my big sister convinced me that rhubarb was vampire celery. i was actually afraid of a vegetable for about a year. hooray for big sisters!

Joaquin, Joaquin, Joaquin. So nice, so nice, so nice — I said it thrice! I really don’t get that many hits, but I do savor the ones that occasionally come my way. totally working up to that .00041 % Global reach.
1. Nope, won’t stop blogging, so you’re stuck with me.

That’s different than your own personal birthday ala “kissing 39 goodbye”. Of course, even if it were your personal b-day, I realize your true Grannie days are nowhere near. (I was just joshing with you because I know you were tickled when that heckler dubbed you Grannie Jannie)… but you knew that!
Your chart and this whole post are just hilarious, as usual!
On to blue bunnie manigemints stuff…
1) Keep up the good work!!! (By the way, I am liking the pink).
2) I’d like to see more of… your hilarity!!!
3) Sorry blue bunnie, but I have zero knowledge of rhubarb and cannot provide info on this matter.
Love ya, Jannie!

The Jannie Blog is one years old. How time screams by,
jeesuz. I add my heartfelt congratulations to the many
many many others. You have packed so much into one slim
year, it is frightening to consider what Year Two might
produce! You do get more hits and comments on your blog
that anyone else, or anywhere else I have visited. My blog site it like three years old now, and I doubt that I have 100 comments on it. Yeah, it is mostly poetry and lyrics and rants and pictorials, but hey, Funsterland
is the place to be seen and heard for all of us. Give advice to the Queen, the Mistress of Funsterville?
Hell, no. We all look to you for antics, creativity, heart, and oodles of laughter. That and great recipes and poetry and family pics. Kelly may be the most celebrated cyber child on record. I wonder how she will
feel about that when she is 15? None of us can keep up with you, let alone advise you on format. As to rhubarb, I hear that in Bulgaria they have a national rhubarb beer that puckers you up for three hours after drinking it. Lance, you are amazing. Rhubarb is almost as hardy
as blackberry bushes and scotch broom. To have killed a plant of it is unheard of, probably against the law in some counties. My grandmother made a killer rhubarb/
strawberry pie that rivaled most others. Rhubarb seems to compliment other fruits in pies and cobblers, like berries, peaches, apple, pear, and like that.

George: Well thanks a lot. I like blogging a lot, tho. Tho it is time-consuming it is a real joy. And I’ll see you soon over there at your blog!
Yo, Glenn Dude! Thanks for the lovely words. Whoo-hoo! Still partying here a day later, Celebrate Good Times – come on! My mom’s mom made a mean strawberry rhubarb pie too, I agree the tartness needs to be tempered by something sweet, a la mode always does the trick for me. I had a scotch broom once – but only ’cause I spilled my single malt while sweeping the kitchen.
Joyful Megan: Maybe my second year will see leaps and bounds of funsterment and my own donut line. All kinds of glazed ones. And fine brew to compliment the pastry. Oh thank you on all. Romania does so rock -love the blogging gymnasts best.
Cinderkeys: Musical adventuress for sure!! Coming up soon. (I hope.)
Lane: Whoo-hoo!! Bottled or in a can? I only do the bottle thing. Cans taste the tin otherwise. And that’s just for the donuts — my beer comes from a laminated cardboard box.
I love cedars, especially ones with snow falling on them.
She: My fav flavor of cupcake too, thanks! I do have a fair amount of daily time to devote to the blogosphere, lucky that way. Tho today I spent 7 hours at Kelly’s school preparing curriculum materials. I like that too. (But not quite as much as blogging.)
Vered: Really you think I’m funny??? I think it’s just a byproduct of my general me-ness. So okay- I’ll keep it up.
Miladysa: Hey, I was about ready to post this and you popped in. And I think you’ve hit the nail on the head — ENJOY!!! If blogging ever got to be a chore I would not be a happy Jannie and blue bunny would be even bluer than his current color.

It’s amazing the change one year can bring into our lives, in your case tons of new friends n fans. You’ve brought me more silliness than I can count, which is truelly priceless. Here I get to laugh at things other than just sarcasm. You’ve already sprouted some absolutely great ideas, “Bord on a Wire,” my fav, of course.
My cousin gave me a jar of her homemade Strawberry-Rhubarb jam when I was in Vermont- both from her garden! so good! I want more… (not sure how she made it tho- Cook it in a oan n add sugar?)
I like apple-rhubarb pie with raisins to sweeten it, myself. I used to make tarts with it also, with pie crust or sweet-bread dough. I wonder if i could grow it in a container…

Patricia!! What are you doing here AGAIN — wow, this must be the celebration to knock one’s socks off. Holy cow, I’m chuffed. Did you hear that word over in the UK? “Chuffed.” I think it’s means a good thing, right? Or did I just get that completely the other way??
Jeanne, Jeanne the motor home queen! Jeanne who lurked then came so beautifully out of the shadows to shine her lovin’ lite! Hello. You are NOT LATE WHATSOEVER!!! That’s what’s great about this party — it never ends. Whoo-hoo. And you are welcome forever and a day. Just don’t drink ALL the beer, okay?? And let me know how my hoofprint went, um-kay?
Snaggle Tooth Of The Exit Stage Right Blog where I crashed and somehow you followed me back here and have stuck around…. something you touch on here warms my heart very very deeply, the part about my humor not being sarcastic. Snag, thanks for noticing and commenting. I do try never to make fun of anyone, because we are all people and deservant of respect. To make a joke at some one else’s expense just does not seem right to me, even if they are a celebrity. There does seem to be a fair amount of mean-spiritedness floating about the blogosphere. I am so glad I can be silly and make you smile. Rhubarb! You mean grow rhubarb in a container, or grow sweet-dough in a container? (There is like a never-ending batch of dough, for friendship bread, sour-dough or something?) And again, there is NO late to this party.
Chris: Funny, but what you say reminds me that maybe I once ate raw rhubarb too. Or did I really And are you totally pulling my funstering leg?? Ten again, with all the health things you are into, running marathons and such, I would NOT be surprised at you. But rhubarb is sourer ‘n chokecherries or raw cranberries, as I recall. Isn’t it? See, I now so little about rhubarb, I here embarass myself. I think we cooked and ate the greens tho. Or did we? Oh, no, my brain’s going and fast.
Sara: Blue bunny ate so much cake he puked all over his gold-plated hutch. (Might’ve had something to do with the 7 beers he swilled.) Oh well, he’s fine now, just coasting along and staying huddled in a dark corner. And your werds?? I LOVED THEM!!! Straight to my heart of hearts, thanks. Thank you soooo much. Whoo-hoo.
Nadia: You know it — never to late! I wonder what my blog will look like when I’m 95? Hopefully in full swing. Or just starting to hit my stride. I too think I’m in this for the long haul. And I sure hope you are too! It will be fun to see our evolution.
Barbara: Thank you. You certainly rock in so many ways. And maybe I do rock a bit sometimes too. And give a mean wedgie. Okay, as to your advice — I think I can be me. Tried being other people and it just never seemed to work out.
Lance: Okay, you’re back again??? Okay, I’m cool with that. Super-cool, in fact. Oh, and blue bunny has a message for you — he says to please garden him up a crop of sweet timothy with chives and throw in some extra hops. If could please see your way to trying your markered thumbs at that and send the freshly-plucked crop packed in organic burlap via UPS Overnight, I’m sure he would be eternally grateful. Thanks.
Now, should I pack light or not so for Bulgaria?? Hmn, could be chilly there in the woods at night.

Congratulations on your first anniversary! No real advice, but you’re doing great. I didn’t start hitting my stride until somewhere between 15-18 months, so patience is the key.
I would totally get a “Big in Romania” shirt made for myself. Romania is the new Japan, you know.

Your stats only say what we know: Your cotton pickin’ but kickin’ awesome. Is there any cake left?

Oh and about that rhubarb. We used to pick it when we were kids on the farm and we would dip our stalk in sugar, eat and repeat! How’s that for a family farm reicpe.

This post was v v funny. “And Bulgaria – don’t EVEN get me started on Bulgaria, I’m trying to remain just a tad humble here.” ROTFL!! Couldn’t stop laughing! Just keep writing such funny posts!

Tracy: Been a while! Great to see you back again. How long have you been blogging? Patience, yes. The blogs of Rome (or Texas,) were not built in one day. Except for i can has cheeseburger — I think that one soared overnight!
Karen: Whoo-hoo! Get down. And get back up again. Great to have met you recently and look forward to many many more fun encounters with you. (And probably buying one of your purses. Been meaning to check out your etsy store.)
Tess: Yes, my stats are nothing short of astounding
But at least my “climb” has been somewhat steady. Thank you my dear. You light up the blogosphere and many of our lives a immeasurably. Wow, I’ll have to try rhubarb like that! I’m sure it puckers up the old lips a bit.
deere mya: i is so glads to meeting you!!!!! i usual like dogs and i’m shoor i likes you too if you dont bites me.
Rose! Wot it is! I so appreciate your shining on-going countenance here in funsterdom. Oh — and I know what you mean , when blue bunny gets frisky and goes out commenting on people’s blogs he gets my picture too. Must get him his own g-mail account so he can have his grvatar.
Rhett: Soooo excited about heading to Bulgaria later today!! Have you ever been? Its my first time and very very very much looking forward to it. Thank you for your sweet words of birthday congratulations. I am most humbled. And seriously, click that Alexa widget in my right side-bar — and notice how popular I am in India — at this very minute’s count I am no less than the 111,460th most popular site in your fair land. (That is not a joke, as you will see.) In fact, about 12% of my readers are in india. Cool!!

Jannie, I feel so bad I missed your birthday. I am sorry, I was caught up in projects and have not been blogging much. So please accept my belated well wishes. Congratutlations, and go girl! I, for one, am so glad you are here. You make me smile with glee and I would miss you terribly were you gone, like to Bulgaria with no internet permanently. Just keep up the great work. Plenty of Kelly hijinks. Those are the best! Hugs!

Well, I am throwing a party to my friends to celebrate the great success of Funsterland. You are so popular in India I have actually designed and printed t-shirts that bear, “Visit Funny Jannie’s Funsterland at janniefunster.com” and I distributed it to my friends too. Serious.
