Here she was three, checking out a just-applied mouse face at her preschool carnival.
She’s not sure what she’ll be this year so she better get cracking — 24 days will fly!
Have you got YOUR costume yet?
What do you think Jannie should go as??

I think you should go as an ethereal goddess.

Well All Hallow’s Eve is soon upon us, you bet. I think that yup, blue bunny goes in a cow suit; which reminds me of the SNL routine where Christopher Walken plays the successful record promoter who “craves more cow bell” on the rock and roll songs. “I have a fever, and there is only one thing that will bring it down; more cow bell.”
Kelly could go as Charlie Chaplin this year. Get her a little black bowler hat, and cane, some baggy pants, paint on a moustache and those eye brows. It could be cool. Lynn is close to accurate for you, something ethereal, transcendent–perhaps as Miss Liberty, with crown and torch; but no bra flinging. That would be
downright unpatriotic. We always helped with the make up and made up costumes for our three girls; special time,
a sackful of candy and fruit to get sick on later.

I totally see you as a rock star for Halloween. Or perhaps a hippie flower child
I love that photo of her!
My daughter insists that she wants to be Minnie Mouse again this year. Recycling a costume? How can I argue with that.

She is so cute, she could be anything. How about a hot dog or bottle of ketchup?…no, how about a whoopie cushion?…no, I got it a ladybug. That would be cute.
On 7 October 2009 at 11:25 am Paige said,
how sweet!
lil’ Kelly should be anyting cute or not and she would make that cute too.
Jannie should be a bra flinger; use a “training bra” as a mask–yeah you know it cut out little holes for the nip…eyes.
Jim should carry a chainsaw!

Now that is a sweet mouse! Thankfully the type that Stripey would simply purr up against and leave alone
I’m glad I don’t have to deal with Hallowe’en costumes anymore. Does that make me a Hallowe’en Scrooge?
I think Lynn’s on the right track…though I’m seeing more a bra-flinging wood nymph!
Have a good rest and ease your aching head xxx

Jannie,
Oh my gosh!!!! She is so cute!!!!
In our house, K will play Hermione… Hubby will play Professor McGonagall… and guess who will play Harry Potter?
We are practicing our accents.
Hmm, I think you’d make a good angel! (Since you are one in real life… it’d be appropriate).

Definitely as a banana. Wait…then you could also double as an actress in a “Fruit of the Loom” commercial. You’ve always wanted to do that, haven’t you, Jannie? I’m right, aren’t I!! You know…a banana left around too long turns brown and squishy. I’m sure the Loom people need a fancy new bright yellow banana…that’s you!
And Kelly, she’s a cutie (I knew she took after you!)…

How dressing as a wandering ministrel?
As for myself, I won’t be dressing up, but in years gone by, I’ve dressed as a street person and as a demented pizza delivery driver.

sweet mousie….
I do not like Halloween….I love that kids love to dress up
I think there are enough scary things in life as an adult and Halloween is about helping children understand fear and how to make it useful and productive….
I think adults should stop pretending to be kids and teach the kids that it is not about candy and treats….it is a fun life lesson – that they don’t want to learn themselves.
That said…..my friend is having a Halloween party to celebrate being an empty nest parent….I have a witches hat and I am thinking about the story WICKED…
My husband is going as Abe Lincoln – all he needed was a top hat!
Don’t let me be a spoil sport…hope your headache is better….I have had a 4 day migraine explosion and I have a big paper and presentation tomorrow

Interesting suggestions. What’s the guy’s name with the Black-star eyes in KISS? Or you could wear your Ukulele n sing the song as you go as a treat… Of course there’s always the princess, cat, witch back-ups. Or get the greasepaint for a clown. Or a pirate.
One time my daughter got a cow suit, stuffed it with a pillow, (prego) n put a teat-ring piercing on it…
Or you could try to match Kelly’s lead- So are you even more undecided than before?

As an aside, I just heard that one of my friends’ kid is going as Bellatrix Lestrange. I think that’s hilarious.

Hi Jannie,
The picture of Kelly was adorable. How about going as a fairy like Tinker Bell?
On 8 October 2009 at 1:55 pm Jannie said,
Glenn: Oh, Kelly would make the perfect little Charlie Chaplin. Have to get her to watch him. She might get hooked.
Momisides: Ooo hippie child, yes! Just not the look in the 1968… http://www.janniefunster.com/2009/08/10/hair-style-we-goin-radically-retro/
Grace: Ahh, I bet she would love to be a ladybug. Sweet idea. Oh, and welcome!! This was your first visit here, right?
Paige: lol on the bra / chainsaw couple!
Jannie: Glad yoo head is good again!
Talon: Nope, you a Halloween Realist who has done her long long dues with 4 kids!! I wonder how the bra flinging would go over at the school carnival??
Jeanne: I think we are the only household in all America with a child of 8 or older who has yet to find out about Harry Potter. Time to join the rage??
Lance: A banana split would be a hit! Especially if it was from real ingredients.
Vered: But i AM a rock star in my natural condition!!
G: Somehow the costumes you mention sound PERFECT for you!
You wild and crezzie guy!
Patricia: You man is a tall think type with a long beard? Since I’ve been compared to Ben Franklin I might just get some round glasses, a pair of jodphurs and go for it!
Jannie: I see you snuck away from the school volunteering today??? Tomorrow, then?
Snag: Arrrrr, a pirate I’d love to be. But since I am finally out of the Haunted house and into the sunlight this year I’m thinking semi-pretty. I think I’ll go to Walgreens tomorrow and see what they have, good prices there as I recall.
Robin: noooo, no Halloween dressing up? Really? Do you do Guy Fawkes instead?
Sheila: Thanks ! She was my little cutie-patootie for sure that day. Well, EVERY day but especially that day.
Teahouse: Who the heck is Bellatrix LaStrange? A name your friend made up? Hmmmn, that might fit me to a tee.
Lane, Lane, Lane you crack me up as usual. Hmmn, could I make my own robot suit??
Nadia: Yes, I do believe I am thinking something Tinker-Belle-ish. Light and airy-fairy.

Hi Jannie. I sit Halloween out — party-pooper!!! Used to dress up as a kid and went to a few parties. Now that I’m older I’m just not interested. Would probably be diff if I had kids though. Hey, you could go as a CD
Wear a big round disk around your head… your face would be the centre of the CD

I want to go as BoPeep and Barks could be my sheep. I saw a pattern for it the other day. I don’t think I could sew it in time though.
For you… I think you guys should go all Wizard of Oz. You could be Glinda, Kelly Dorothy and your husband the Scarecrow.

I think you should go dressed up as your CD with a sign that says “Buy Me”
Hey it’s the marketing mind that doesn’t know when to quit.
Kelly could win a prize with that photo.

What a darling photo of Kelly.
I agree with Tess – go as a CD and instead of collecting candy, you’ll be collecting the bucks.

Wade: Sorry, guess I’ll just have to keep breaking your heart. But I’ll always hold your hand while doing it.
Davina: That is the greatest idea for a costume!!! Gee,I need an artistic fried to make that for me. Wow,I like the way your mind works!!
Karyn: You guy should be soooo cute! Hmnn, an Oz family theme,I like that. Kelly could be Dorothy,Jim the lion and me the Tin Man. Cool.
Tess: You and Davina are sooooo like-minded on this– uncanny really. And such a super bold-awesome marketing deal, indeed.
Jeanne: I will!!! Kelly is now reading the Bone series by Jeff Smith. Hairy Potter next. I’ll begin by reading the first book aloud so we can enjoy it together.
Barbara: A CD it may have to be!! I remember last Halloween some of the houses were giving out margaritas to the parents — fun neighborhood.
Cinderkeys: I think the CD may have to upstage all other ideas.
YOU could go as that too,of course.

My youngest, daughter Sarah, turns 21 on Monday. You’ve posted a wonderful picture. Looking at your picture, I wish I could have many of those long past days back. Many thanks. Costumes? Disney characters Ariel or Princess Jasmine have been favorites. Or Belle from “Beauty and the Beast.” Or perhaps even my own creation, The Bunny Pirate.

Adorable! I love Kelly’s mouse face.
And for your costume, I agree with cinders — a glam rocker would be way cool! Of course, it’s not much of a costume, really, cuz you’re glamorous, and you rock.

Paul: I like the bunny pirate idea!! She is soooo past the Disney Princesses now, but she has had costumes for at least 4 or them.
Thomma Lyn: Maybe Gene Simmons in his get -up? Wait, — Elton John!! Yeah. Ahhhh, you so sweet.

So many cool suggestions for Jannie.. well, a rockstar will be my pick for your costume. Be brave, outgoing, fun and rock the house down, Jannie! ^^
p/s: will work on the song. So excited!

Hope your tiara is all shined up for Halloween??
