Soul Impressions Of Dr. Liara M. Covert’s “Self Disclosure — Changes From Within”
Friends, Just Good Stuff | Posted by Jannie on 27 November 2009 @ 7:26 AM 48 Comments
Is it a cooincidence Kit-Kat wants to snuggle each time I settle on the sofa with this book? (That cat almost NEVER comes near in the daytime.)
The feline senses your expanding positive energy. He knows something big is up.
This hardcover book is physically beautiful, feels like a precious gem in my hands. Every time I see it I smile and feel great, knowing what treasures lie within.
You constantly decide what matters to you. You value aesthetics.
It’s obvious a person of whole happiness wrote Self Disclosure. Dr. Covert laughs at things like lost luggage or mixed-up driving directions. She guides towards blessings and opportunities in everything one might label “negative.” Can I learn to do that too?
Learning and expanding is what you are all about. You just need to re-focus what you already know at Soul level.
Wow – deep!
Love is deep. Infinite. The root of all creation.
The book is changing my life.
YOU are changing your life, with higher energy you always sensed but had long forgotten how to access.
I sometimes feel uneasy reading the book.
Bravo! That’s Soul growth in action. Love is on the move.
Yes, I guess. Then, at other times my Soul is so bursting with big chunks of joy and happiness while reading it, I can actually see and feel light bouncing from my skin through my walls out past the leaves on my trees to the fields, cities and universe beyond.
You ARE light.
Yes, we are all beings of light — I do tend to forget that.
I’d thought I’d pretty-much seen everything, but Self Disclosure’s format is like nothing I’ve ever experienced — truly original on multiple levels. (I’m pseudo-copying the format here, with apologies to Dr. Covert.)
So many levels of goodness are going on at any given moment, so much more is happening at once than you can ever imagine.
Yes! Self Disclosure allows me to tap into things about myself I wasn’t even aware of. It’s a book I keep coming back to again and again to guide me in all levels of my life. I seem to reap new meaning from it at different times.
Your levels of awareness are increasing as you allow them to. Lessons are repeated until you finally get them.
Wow!
Did I mention that at the end of each of the 60+ sections in this almost-300-page book covering every aspect of human-ness you can imagine, Dr. Covert offers additional gifts via comprehensive open-ended exercises to delve into truest Soul? Therein the tools to apply the concepts to our daily lives?
No you didn’t mention, but I remember you getting closer to your core through the exercises, (when you actually did them.) ![]()
Plus, tons and tons of drop-dead gorgeous quotes woven into the flow of the book, snippets of wisdom from 100+ people?
Ah yes, those too.
I was surprised at such a lengthy section about romantic love and intimacy towards the end of the book.
Different sections will resonate more with different readers at different times.
One question: Was I selfish to not leave the book for my sister in Canada this past summer, tucking it back into my suitcase to bring back to Texas because I hadn’t yet finished reading it?
Ah, there you go judging yourself, Grasshopper. Worry is not the true you. Each choice on your path takes you right where you need to be, each a learning experience on the journey to highest self.
Thanks, I feel ‘way better now.
Ahhh, happy and jolly.
Anything else?
To sum up, I’d say Self Disclosure is more of an experience than a book — an investment in Soul, really. A gift you give yourself and others around you, thus the world.
I humbly agree.
Will others like it? Will it change their lives too ?
Duh.
Oh yeah, right. Silly questions.
There are no silly questions. Only silly Jannies.
Now YOU are being silly.
Well, yes, I do have a sense of humor too.
Speaking of which, the section on Laughter I fairly flew through. I almost felt as if I’d written it. I wish the whole world could read it, could read the whole book. I have read nothing that compares to Self Disclosure.
Soul knows what resonates.
Right-ho! I feel enlightened.
Then go do your dishes! You have reframed where you are.
Hey, who ARE you, anyway? What will my readers think?
Well, they’ll just have to experience Self Disclosure and decide for themselves, won’t they?
Of course!
But wait. They need to know where they can acquire the book.
Oh yeah. We almost forgot. They can follow any of the Self Disclosure links above or the following one to Dr. Covert’s website — the home page of Dream Builders Australia, her blog-journal.
Yes, Dr. Covert publishes a new blog post daily. She is amazingly prolific. Teacher. Healer. What a gift to mankind.
And that other thing that’s happening this coming Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m. EST?? Yep, November 29th... ??
Oh yes! Dr. Covert will be interviewing me (Jannie) at this link on Blog Talk Radio. She encourages you guys to “Call in to share your own stories or how you resonate with Jannie’s soul journey. This show invites everyone to be more honest with the self about inner passion and what is involved in more unconditional self-acceptance. Are you ready for self-disclosure?”
Whoo-hoo!!
Whatever is Jannie gonna wear for her radio appearance ?!?
Again with the humor!! Well, my blue chiffon, of course. And my orange felt beret, the one with the green dingle balls.
Why didn’t I think of that?
Um… you’re too busy thinking about Soul growth to concern yourself with the frivolities of fashion?
True!

WOW, Jannie! This sounds like a great book. I went through a phase of reading New Agey self-help type books back in the early nineties. I miss that phase. I wish this book had been around then when I had more time to actually read, dangit! Sounds like a fabulous book. I REALLY like this part: “She guides towards blessings and opportunities in everything one might label “negative.”
I’m struggling with that right now. I’ve always struggled with it, but I have been thinking actively about it for the past two days. Something good happened to me recently, and there’s been a bit of backlash of negativity flowing towards me. I’m trying to wrap my head around whether this is about balance, or about people I thought were friends subconsciously not liking me, or not wanting me to succeed, that type of thing. I want to respond in a positive way, but don’t know how, and I know I shouldn’t respond negatively so nothing is progressing. I should ruminate on how to to manifest something good from the negativity. Encountering negativity is like a crossroads of sorts. There are multiple possible outcomes depending upon how we react to it.
I’m SO babbling. AAAAAnyway, CONGRATULATIONS on your radio interview! I’m going to do my diggity dangdest to be able to listen to that. We have some family visiting and a birthday weekend for my stepson so some things are up in the air, but I really want to be there for this. Of course, I have no clue how blog talk radio works, but I’ll try to figure it out.

Jannie, many people know what it feels like to receive advice, whether or not it is requested. Fewer people are familiar with how to listen consciously, attentively to their inner voice and to heed their own heartfelt guidance. The book is a soulful experience for anyone ready and willing to embark or continue the journey.
I appreciate the book review with and humour as only you could provide. The radio interview can only be memorable for listeners and participants alike. Okay, so I shall now suspend the formality… I’ve come to know and love her as Liara! So Liara it will be…
LYNN!! Well, a “cool” book called for nothing short of a cool review. I’ve never done a radio interview before. Weird, but I feel a bit nervous. I guess that’s normal? As Liara mentions, the show will be archived for all eternity!!
MAMA Z!! As I say to Lynn, a way deeper than cool book needed a pretty special blurb. I’ve read it twice and looking forward to many more Soul consultations with it.
PAIGE!! Y’all make my day, y’all. WHAT!?!?!? YOU are from The NORTH ??? Where? My goodness–the mysteriosity of y’all had Done gabberfied me yet again. I’m on a need to know basis on this so y’all hurry on Bach here , y’all hear , y’ all
why SUSAN HELEN GOTTFRIED!!! Hi! Thank you. I imagine the book is in a new class of its own.
DOT!! And you assumed I only read “Bra-Flingers Monthly” or “Donuts Daily!”. New Age. Old Age. The message in this book is pretty-much all that and even more that can be probably imagined. Totally.
HEATHER!! Oh that I had 100th the insight for you that Liara could shed on this for you. So let me take my best shot. Always go with the positive. Wow, isn’t my wisdom stunning??? I strongly urge you to read her blog , perhaps even to write this quandary to her in a comment. She sees things mostof us don’t.
Oh and you Tweeted this, how sweet. Thank you kindly.
TALON!! Seeing as this is new territory for me I figure I can’t go wrong with green dingle balls. I wore the same outfit for other firsts as well , first sled dog races, first day on my liquor store job, that time Jim launched his paper boats.
NADIA!! I’ve sure had my share of crap to scrape off my windshield, at times thicker than others. I’m far from any kind of a saint, but I do like the messages in this book a lot and I like you and your blog of light and love
guys — I’m texting this from my phone so apologies for the no-doubt myriad typos ans such
LIARA. I too blessed to be part of this community. I can certainly relate to being ready to bark on and permit my journey through your blog and nook. Book!! Book!! This teeny iPhone keyboard is a hoot and a half. Thank you, Liara!
MEGAN!’n. OMG I soo know what you mean about Liara’s conversations. She is amazing. Sweeps in like a fairy through your open window on a full-moon June night to sprinkle your dreams with mystical treasures. Can you believe we actually get to l know her???

What has always fascinated me about “New Age” concepts, theories, perceptions, and insights is that they resonate with some of us because we are “ready” to receive them. And then we begin to plug into the whole megella, the big picture–metaphysics, quantum physics, the embrace from Allthatis, white light, self-healing, and like that. It reminds us that New Age anything is far from new. It is, they are, the oldest thoughts, the oldest insights rising to the surface of the chaos of our present life, reminding us that love is the common denominator for all formulas, for all solutions, and as a tiny corner of the veil of forgetfulness is raised, we get fascinating glimpses of stuff we recognize as “truth”, something visceral, soulful, cosmic; our personal piece of the big puzzle we are all assigned to complete, no matter how many lifetimes it will take us. Your review was inspired. Have fun with your interview.

Jannie, To me, the book or whoever wrote the words matters not, it is how those words leave their mark on that part of you which is connected to your particular spark of life. The mark that changes how you think and act is to be cherished and passed on.For myself there have been many such marks, they all made a difference, the following is a quote from Albert Camus’s last book,’Le Premiere Homme’ It concerns a man who has been searching for who he is,his soul indentity, his father having been killed in the war (1914) He finds the cemetery where his father is buried and eventually is able to stand in front of the grave.
“At that moment he read on the tomb the date of his father’s birth, which he now discovered he had not known. Then he read the
two dates, “1885—1914,” and automatically did the arith-
metic: twenty-nine years. Suddenly he was struck by an
idea that shook his very being. He was forty years old.
The man buried under that slab, who had been his fa-
ther, was younger than he”
I did the same thing before I had read this book, finding Father’s grave, standing in front reading the inscription.Reading the words and dates but not reading ,(father died in 1942 when I was 3mths old). Until I had read that particular passage the enormity of that waste of a life(lives) and a future, had never seemed all that important, I was just a boy who had no father. Then of course I had that epihany moment that Camus writes on After reading the book (I was 42) I went back to my fathers grave and read out that passage, he was 38 when he died, it was then that I knew who I was and who he had been, that I was older that he would ever be.

GLENN!! Kudos on sharing such your super-insightful comment. I really want to believe in Jesus being the way and the light and the one true way to heaven, as I was raised to believe, but I am not 100% sure of that anymore. Other teachings are coming to light. I seek to know more.
ROBBI!! Albert Camus has always been one of my favorites. Your comment touched me very very deeply. And Glenn above never knew his dad. The both of you have gone on to create lives as loving fathers yourselves, two incredible men. May your sparks continue to ignite us.
CINDERKEYS!! Archived for all eternity, there’s a comforting thought. Hope I “do well” tomorrow, no pressure! I got to know Liara via blogging, I think it was probably originally Barbara Swafford’s “Blogging Without A Blog” blog I most likely followed her home from. Or maybe from Lance’s “Jungle Of Life.”
SNAG!! Yes, Sis will be getting one for Christmas, you exactly got that right. As Liara says, there are no good or bad decisions, only ones that expand us along our path. I always love when Liara pops in for a comment on my blog, she is a real eye-opening soul.
CATH!! It is worth reading, for me over and over. And it really does make me smile whenever I see it. Plus, I believe I have only skimmed the surface of what lies within, enlightenment can grow forever.
CAROL!! The Manifestation Wheel, never heard of that one. Soul and Ego. I’ve had my ego exorcised, but it keeps sneaking back in. Actually, I’m not 100% sure what Ego is, but I’m trying to learn. It’s a bit of a pesky entity I’m picking up. There is ego, as in I’m so grrreat, don’t you know. Then ego, something that puts up obstacles and excuses and turns a blind eye and such. (I think. )

This whole idea of ’soul’ is something big for me, so I find this so interesting. And I’ve been following Liara’s blog for quite a while, and am always (always) so taken in by all she has to say. In fact, it’s usually something I have to read twice to fully grasp – it’s so deep and meaningful. And I’m sure this book is that way, only with even more depth and meaning. Very awesome!

LANE!! I always love your wacky sense of humor and your visits here.
DAVINA!! I actually did not read the book all at once. There was a good 8-week stretch from when I came back from Canada with it until I picked it up again. I did re-read a lot of the parts, found much of it was abstract, had to keep going over and over things. Then as I got towards the end, maybe around page 161 my mind clicked in again. I far from understand or relate to ALL of it, but I’ll for sure be re-reading again to hopefully access insight on deeper levels.
LANCE!! As I mention to Davina above, I often have to re-read parts of it over, same as on her blog. But I accept that I am gradually raising my awareness in life. And I don’t have to know everything right now. I do like how the book guides me to take complete responsibility for my own happiness.
COOKIE!! Why can’t I escape this funny side of me, even on such a “serious” topic as Soul?? I guess my soul is just a little weirder than most. But I like me this way!
J.D. Picturing you in a light green tutu and sparkly wings now! Thoughts are indeed things, good point. As Kelly heard at her Kung Fu class…. watch your thoughts, they become your words, then your actions, then your habits, then your character, then your destiny. I’d say from what I know of you so far, your destiny is very shiny. And sparkly.
TOM!! DELIGHTFUL TOM!! I hope I’ll love the interview experience. But how can I not? A chance to yak about myself for an hour.
Blessings. And I can promise you — I will not be changing. Unless I get a bump on the head and suffer amnesia, which is a pretty long shot so you’re most likely stuck with the me I am.

even though your review is fantastic, i don’t think i’ll be reading the book. i prefer my soul remain a dark and vague morass of things i can’t define – kind of doing its own thing – not unlike whatever is in the tupperware at the back of my fridge. could be anthrax, could be penicillin – i just feel better with the lid on.

HILARY!! Priviledged (even tho I never can spell that word,) and honored at your visit to this post. I see you all the time over at Liara’s and am universally impressed with your soul-searching. And how much better I feel to know I am not the only one who is challenged in understanding either. Whew! I love the idea of learning together. And yes — among friends for sure. FOR SURE!!
Ahh JOAQUIN!! You did it again. Cracked me up to no end. You hear me??? To NO end, I shall be snickering, sniggling and guffawing all night, even whilst I dream of what’s in the very bottom tupperware dish in my very bottom fridge basement. I think it’s probably whiskey, tho. Or socks.

This IS a great book, i thumbed through it last summer and I look forward to reading it someday. I’m so happy that you are moving upward into such higher plains of enlightenment, I like how you say that lifes little difficulties and interruptions are all oppourtunities for personal growth, I agree with that and I sometimes attribute those things to god’s special plan for each of us, you never know what path he’ll lead us to. Dont feel bad about not leaving it with me last summer, I’ll get a chance hopefully next year. For now I’m still working on my Bible , trying to glean from that whatever wisdom and light of truth it has to impart into my soulful being.

Hey ladies, thanks! Momisodes, Sweetie!!
Rosie, I’m so excited — soon you will have your own blog!!!! Whoo-hoo hoo,
Oh yes, Sister — such elevated plains of enlightenment for me with my dishes piled high and Tom’s letter still to be found. And did I brush my teeth in the past 2 days??? (I have flossed 6 times, tho!) And used mouthwash. And did have a bath a couple days ago (I think. ) I even used deodorant again once in the past few weeks. But I should be getting the stuff without aluminum in it.
Sister, Yay, I’m all over feeling bad about not leaving Self Disclosure. for you last summer. As we just joked about on the phone ” We will only feel guilt if we want to.” So frig off – guilt!!!
We may not be up next summer, sorry. We’ll see how it goes. We may take a trip somewhere here in the u.S instead. Jim ’s going to CA in June for a car show so we might-could extend it into a family trip. We’ll see.
As you know, Kelly fancies herself quite underprivileged to have so little travel under her belt at her already advanced age of 8.
Toodles.

Oh, yeah the Bible’s a great one indeed. I only wish I could reconcile in my own mind the teaching that Jesus is the only way to heaven with the broader scope of God, or indeed that we are all parts of God. What do you think?
love you!!
