“Doll Bed With Wine,” “For A Dear Friend” & “Kelly’s Korner, About Two Hours Ago”

Part 1… Two days ago I posted (wow has it really been 2 days already?? Seems like last year!) about my doll trunk stenciling.
Today I present The Bed.
This first part could also be called, “I Painted And Stenciled A Doll Bed And Drank A Little Wine, Tho Not Necessarily In That Order And Not Necessarily At The Same Time, But I May Well Have A Glass Of Wine Later On Today — Probably In The Bathtub, As Soon As I Post This.
PART 2…
And today is New Year’s Day!
2010 — whee-haw! Bla,bla,bla.
I was born in 1964. What year were YOU born in?
Anyway… as to the new year…
A wonderful blogging friend sent me a desk calendar for Christmas, wow — even after her first mail to me was rejected! (I’d forgotten to tell you guys I’d let my P.O.box go.) Thank you very much, Dot! It’s beautiful and I’ll enjoy it every day over the next 12 months and no doubt will be sharing pages of it here.
I wish my photography did justice to how pretty the card is, with sparkles. The matching little envelope sticker is such a sweet touch too.
BEAUTIFUL!!
“Just like a white winged dove, sings a song, song that she’s singing.” – Stevie Nicks.
And….. I swear I did not know about today’s calendar quote (below) when I took the above doll bed / wine pics much earlier today. Wow, talk about cool!!
And finally, or Part Three – below is a picture of Kelly’s bedroom as it looks now. When I was 6 months pregnant with her I painted and wall papered what you see below — teddy bears in hammocks and general teddy bear cavortation, if the latter is even a real word.
But now… I am embarking on redecorating her room, the teddy bears having run their course! (I planned on starting the redo last May – but why rush into these things??)
Kelly has mentioned a Club Penguin theme for the decorating, but I think that will date too fast or she’ll tire of it, so I suggested maybe flowers or butterflies. What do you think? Any ideas?
I apologize for the fuzzy picture of the bedrooom corner but I’m too lazy to get up, take another one, and do the whole uploading / resizing / USB switching thing [from my iPhone]. I’ll post some clear pics of that wall paper one day, and the complete bedroom befores and afters — of course!
All in due time, Grasshopper. All in due time.
(Oh, I painted that old dresser too, about the same era I was decorating her nursery — June 2001.)
And… one more picture to ’round this all out.
Wait! One more — of our dining room, a couple hours ago too.
Blessings, now and always!
Wine and a bath await.

If cavortation isn’t a real word, it should be! That’s some serious bear cavortation going on…see? It works beautifully in a sentence.
The wine looks so comfy in its bed. And you did a beautiful job on the stencilling. I hear you on themed bedrooms…they do get tired of them quickly. I tended to do basic paint colors and use the accessories to set the mood – easier to change out as tastes changed so quickly in those young years.
Happy Happy 2010, Jannie! May you and Kelly and Jim have the most fabulous year yet.
And here I thought I might actually be first, but it was not to be…sigh…

I love the stenciling! That looks like fun, I bet it’s a LOT of fun after a couple of glasses of wine….just sayin!
I think that you should do paint and/or wallpaper in something that you/she think(s) she’ll like for a while and then accent with the penguin thing, maybe a comforter set and/or curtains. Easy enough to change those out and maybe not too expensive? Just a thought…

Hi Jannie,
That’s very nice that you were so happy with my little teeny gift that you made it part of your blog post. I just hope my other blogging friends who didn’t get one don’t feel bad. But I have very few of their addresses, which is part of the reason why, and you’ve been outstandingly supportive of me, which is the other!
The doll furniture is very cute. As for the penguins, I say let her have what she wants and forget about it getting dated. You’re only a kid once — well, present company excepted.

Cinderkeys! I know, I run into the same thing sometimes when I am first commenter on bloggers’ posst — what to say??
Congrats on being first — you know you’ll hold that position on this post until all Internet eternity! And some day, if and when you get your own gravatar via gravatar.com, your gravatar will become retroactively active on ALL comments you’ve ever left here. But I know BB likes you showing up with his face, so he likes you just as you are!!
Talon!! Any new years cavortation to report on your end? it was very very quiet here – indeed the Jim-ster sold cars today. What a guy, eh! Did the spy work, or is he in the country at the moment? Super idea of going more neutral with her room’s base, then spiffing up with the accessories she likes — brilliant! I so knew you would have a great angle, thanks. And all the sweetest best to you and yours too, now and always.
Tammy! That has happened to me a lot too, just the other night on your current wonderful post. But I think that when comments get eaten, it’s a sign a better comment is forthcoming. I understand completely! Get your brain back in overdrive and I’ll see you soon!!
Natalia!! Thanks on the stenciling! Yes, 2 glasses of wine make a lot of things fun.
Tho, I’m more of a glass-and-a-half lightweight these days. 10 oz is a great amount for me. And 20 oz of beer. LOVE your idea on the comforter / curtains!! You and Talon are on the same wavelength on this. And down the road the Penguin stuff can be either sold or gifted away. Brill!!
Lynn!! Yes indeed — a complete careening cavortation of style could work too. And what?? Did you click on one of my belly fat ads, or something?? I’m gonna take a wild stab and guess the best belly fat reducing tip is laying off the Haagen Dazs? Or sucking in the gut? Or sticking your bosoms out so far, no one notices your gut? I am highly piqued on this, Lynn! Please come back and do tell all. Please!!
Jingle!! Ahhh, a 1968 model! Well, you all growed up too, I assume.
Well, since your blog is only about 2 months old, I’ve got only 14 months on you with that — but you’ll learn fast if you want to. Blogging’s a definite process, and passion will fuel it. No YOU are THE BEST!! And YOU rock, my dear friend!!! Sweet dreams to you too! Are you the type who always remembers your night dreams, or forget 97% of them, as I do??
Dot!! Well, YOU have been so supportive of ME and all my stuff! And I did have your address and all, to send you the little thing when your mom died — so we pretty-much snail-mail buddies. I forgot to mention in the blurb about your sweet present, what a fun wit you are in your writing — that’s a true gift you have. As to your suggestion of letting her have what she wants in her room decor –a great compromise may be to stencil or stamp penguins on top of the paint, so easy to paint over one day, rather than having to switch out wall paper again.
Whee-freaking-hoo!!!!

Hi Jannie – looks wonderful .. and I love the theme colours you used before. If she wants penguins .. they’ll last a few years .. perhaps one wall, or two .. and some pengwin accoutrements. Then in a while you could paint over, and she’ll be into posters .. p’rhaps?!
Dot’s calendar is great – amazing how things tie in sometimes .. and I’m sure Kelly is thrilled with her room .. but I do hope the doll doesn’t get too hooked on red wine? Am sure you enjoy your bath and glass of vino ..
Happy times working out Kelly’s theme ..

Yes, I’ve been a busy bee Jannie, tho I’m thinking I’ll paint over the stencil on back of the head of the bed and re-do it better! Happy New Year, wonderful chick — I know 2010 is going to be so so so so awesome!!!
Hilary! you know “acoutrements,” is one of my all-time favorite words? I try to weave it randomly into conversations at least 7 times a day! As in, where are my car keys and other accoutrements. Jim, please fetch the hot-dog accoutrements. Who left all these accoutrements Right In The Middle Of The Living Room Floor, For Me To Trip On And Break My Neck Over!?!?! A penguin here, a penguin there, a glass of wine for mama and the doll — heaven!!
robbi!! Apologies?? For what?? None needed here for anything, not that I know of anyway! (Or have you been naughty again??) And gee, I can hardly get down the garden path for all those praises I keep wading through from you. But keep ‘em coming — They more than make my day.
Lynn!! One weird old rule of belly fat! I saw that one too earlier. Ahh ads, designed to part you from your pennies, but do you realize I probably “made” about a dime just for you clicking on it!!? Whoo-hoo, I knew these ads would bring me in treasures beyond my wildest dreams. Cider vinegar, that always made me so FAT, go figure. (Probably all the ice cream I downed after to get the taste out of my mouth.)
Ahhhh, Megan, I am but an initiate to the wide, wild and ancient art of stenciling, I have so so far to go. But — just doing it is good enough for this little grasshopper Jannie. Fairies, fairies, yes I shall come to you and decorate in all sorts of magic. You’re in NY, right? Be right over. Will you steep some Traditional Medicinals “Throat Coat” tea in anticipation of my arrival?? Thanks! Hibiscis tea would work too.

At least you justify your time for “wine and bath” with all that hard work:~) I, on the other hand, have been enjoying being VERY lazy through these holidays…taking lots of time to the enjoy my three R’s — rest, read and relax!
Regarding room decoration, I still have some of the decorations my kids put up in their rooms when they were young. In my office, which was once my youngest daughter’s room, I can still see the “glow in the dark” stars stuck on the ceiling.
Sometimes I think about scraping them off, but then I turn off the lights at night and see the few that still sparkle and I don’t want to change anything:~)

Jannie,
Oh my goodness!!! Where do I start?
First, my dear, you are highly talented and poised to become the most famous doll furniture maker ever. Seriously. When I saw the trunk the other day, I had no idea that you had made a doll bed to match.
As you can imagine, my daughter now really wants doll furniture like this. She has two American Girl dolls. Sadly, her mother (moi) is not going to be able to make such doll furniture for her.
I’m going to try to make the case again for you selling this stuff online. Your hubby has a great idea!
You do realize that my daughter is going to be talking incessantly about Kirsten’s trunk and bed now, right?
You realize that I am not talented like you and able to whip these things up, right?
You realize that with my MCS I would never be able to handle the paint fumes associated with such a project, right… and would faint for sure?
You realize that if the doll trunk you saw was going for $250 that you could make some good money by selling your version at a reasonable price posted side by side with the ridiculously-priced one?
Now, that I have convinced you to go global… I have some marketing tips for when you go live. I would NOT recommend posting pictures of the doll bed with wine in it! I have a feeling that would potentially scare off some customers. Plus, it’s just not exactly the way you’d want to market doll furniture.
It makes for a great blog post, though. I have no doubt that when your painting was done for the day you did take that wine break.
I just think that I’d leave out the wine bottle pictures for when you are selling the doll furniture online.
I was born in 1968. So, I am a spring chicken next to you… huh?
In all seriousness, this explains why you’re ahead of me is the wisdom department.
That sparkly card is just beautiful and the calendar was so thoughtful.
Oh my gosh! Kelly’s room is so gorgeous! My little one saw all of those colors and said, “awwwwwwwwwwwwww”! What an awesome room! I just LOVE the colors!
Of course, you taught me all about your extreme color expertise on my blog the other day. So, this is no shock.
I hear your concern about Kelly wanting penguins now but not wanting them for an extended period. Hmm. How excited about penguins is she? I, like you, try to automatically think ahead and be practical on these things.
However, I also remember Dr. Randy Pausch talking about this very subject in a way that made me re-think my own notions on this subject. Are you familiar with Dr. Pausch and “The Last Lecture” (an amazing speech he gave that got turned into a book and got the attention of millions)?
Anyway, when Diane Sawyer interviewed him, they went to his childhood home (where his parents still live) and showed his childhood room. There were spaceships painted on the walls. They had not painted over them but had left the walls as is. He had talked about the power of imagination and had given me a whole new take on room decoration for children.
Now, from what I recall of that interview, Dr. Pausch would argue for letting the child decorate the room as he/she wanted (within reason, of course). He made a compelling argument for this that stuck in my mind.
Dot sounds like she has the idea Randy Pausch was trying to express about kids and room decoration.
In any event, whatever you decide to do with her room will obviously be amazing since you clearly are poised to be an interior decorator too.
Let’s do a tally… you are an awesome mother/wife, you are a talented musician, you are an uber-blogger, you are poised to be a world-famous doll furniture maker, and you are an uber-talented interior decorator too! Wow! You put the “M” in multi-talented!
Oh… and, yes, my daughter noticed the mini-Kirsten on Kirsten’s lap. (You know these pictures are getting the wheels in her head spinning, right?)
I’d say you need to get painting because you’re not going to be able to keep up with the orders. I’d be gearing up if I were you.
My daughter took one look at that dining room table full of doll furniture and was just… in awe.
Seriously, I think you could be very successful with this doll furniture.
But then, you’re successful at everything you do!

That dresser is too cute. Yeah, it’s probably a better idea to go with something generic that won’t date for the wallpaper and decor. There’s always the option of less permanent Club Penguin decorations, such as framed pictures, or similar artistic touches. (Since you’ve been on such an artistic kick lately, right?)
I think it’s a wonderful thing for a child’s room to have such personality. It makes their room feel like it’s truly theirs, and that it’s a special place for them.

As for the room for Kelly…I say if she wants the penquins…she gets them. lol. I checked out the link you gave and it seems you could do the ceiling in clouds (sponging would be wonderful) and you could even do the walls in variations of blues to resemble icebergs.
THen decorate with the little penguins! This way when she out grows the Disney theme, she can easily have it painted over.
Good luck. My daughter still has harry potter stuff in her room. She’s 17. I was gonna let her re-do it, then I thought….how dumb! She’s gonna be in college in a year and a half. lol

When I said, “make such doll furniture”… I meant the paint and stencil part. I realize it may have sounded like I thought you hand-split the wood, carved it, sanded it, assembled it, and then did the rest too. You see… you may as well have done all that in my mind because I’d be about as capable of what you did as all the rest of it too. What you did would all be akin to climbing Mt. Everest to me. (Granted, I am very familiar with your lumberjack skills and you obviously COULD have split the wood to make the furniture from yourself but I realize you didn’t).

Dear Chris, I don’t believe I’m any craftier than you would be if you embarked on a similar project. And we may salvage some pink in her room yet, well see how the decorating goes. Pink penguins maybe!! As to you, I see splashes of fushia in a corner all to yourself, Chris Corner it could be called, a girlie haven all for yourself. Thank you, Beautiful Chris. And a great year to you too.
Well, Ricardo, thanks so much for your comment. The bottle of wine did seem like the perfect bed prop, seeing as it was right there sitting close to where I was setting up the shot, perfect size for the bed too. Stay tuned for the table and chairs episode — it will involve beers, I think.
Charmed at your visit, thanks!!
Hi Fatiboni!! The painting itself, two coats took only about an hour. And the stenciling maybe 45 minutes of actual painting time, but I had to do it in stages — did all the flowers, then let them dry, then the leaves, dry , then curlicues. Yes, lovely and therapeutic. Can’t wait to do some more!! And a super-excellent great year to you too, my dear– thanks! So much.
But yea, I am nodding to sleep here in bed with this iPhone, so goodest night. I’ll enjoy answering the rest of these tomorrow.

WHOO-HOO!!
Davina, my dear! The wine was called “Drink Before Thursday.” (I think.) Wait — or was it that “Shivering Shennanigans” Jim’s been getting me lately? Musta been that, thus I warmed it up nice and cozy. 1964!!! Yeah, yeah, yeah… Just something special about that year to me. And slightly off-topic. Did you go to Kindergarten or enter school in Grade 1? We didn’t have any kindergarten. Went right to Grade 1, but I think I turned out okay in a lot of respects anyway.
alohamorakat, my dear! — hello dear Aloha! How lovely of you to be here!!! Hope I didn’t keep you waiting in moderation too long?? I forgot to check my moderations for a while. You know what?? I actually saw a double doll bed at Hobby Lobby, not a wood one but one of metal, you know those ones with scroll work on them? Words are failing me now. And if you go on-line and get a 40% off coupon you can get a grrreat deal — you might pay only $30, if they still have the bed. Kelly will be happy to hear your decorating suggestions!! You so totally rock (and are very very very sweet, I might add.) And you know what?? I might just make up a few of those beds and sell them, thanks! I feel even more warm and fuzzy now than usual.
Talon, my dear! My Jim’s amazing yes. He’s taken on a couple new guys at work and he’s got the best crew ever, is jazzed about how much of go-getters these 2 new guys are, one sold a bunch of cars in the last week, Jim is having trouble keeping his inventory up!! Anyhoo… have you ever read that book “The Spy Who Loved Me?” I have not.
Mama Zen, my dear! The pink camo sounds fun and funky! Will you be posting pix of it??
Sara, my dear! Your comment brought tears to my eyes that you would not take down those stars. So so sweet. And hey – I’ve had more lazy moments than doll-furniture painting ones too. Altho this holiday I have been on a super-mission of decluttering. The front room — we’ll call it kind of the foyer for purposes of this comment — is now piled with about 20 boxes and bins of stuff that came out of Kelly’s room, but there can be no progress without a bit of upheaval. And I’m excited about her room re-do. I bet it’ll be even better than we currently anticipate.
Jeanne!! Jeanne!! Jeanne!! Jeanne!! A.K.A SPRING CHICKEN!!
My dear Jeanne… now that I have it straight in my mind you know I am not actually MAKING the beds in my little workshop… (Just would hate to lead any of my flock astray,)
I should’ve known you knew, but one can never assume.
Anyhoo!!!
But seriously, humbly, I say thank you for your kind and encouraging words on my first doll furniture decorating efforts. Well, sounds like I have a little girl to paint a doll bed for! I forgot to mention in this post I paid $15 for the bed, but the shipping was also $15.00. Would be great to buy a dozen from the manufacturer — made in the USA and get a shipping deal.
But Jeanne, I’m not sure if it has to do with talent? For sure I need an eye to see what stencil pattern or combo might look good in which spot, but really — it’s just a matter of putting a brush in my hand and slapping on paint. Seriously! Yes, the paint fumes would not be good for you. I forgot about that. It’s just latex paint, but still, it does have fumes.
WHAT??? No wine bottles in the beds for marketing!! Beer then?? Tequila??
Is your daughter talking incessantly about the furniture? I hope not, poor you. I now how kids can be when they have something on the brain. Tell her Kelly wants more than one doll now too!!
Yes, Dr. Randy Pausch was so amazing. The only thing about the penguins is they are a specific character, as opposed to generic. You know what I mean? But as some say here, let her go for it! I’m sure it’ll unfold wonderfully and be even better than we had previously imagined.
And Jeanne, my greatest success is having friends like you, that’s what brings the doves a fluttering in my heart. I still need to post on the Blue Bunny package you sent last summer, and I will at some point. Love Jannie — World Famous Bra Flinging Doll Bed Painter..
Trey, dear Trey. Well, thanks on the dresser! It was an old one Jim had here in the house when I moved in, in 1990. Fast forward to 2001 and I’m pregnant with a girl. I found the teddy bear wall paper first, and took the 5 colors from it to paint the room and dresser, painted an old set of shelves too. And a couple other things. I imagine we’ll be painting the dresser again, as the redecorating artistry unfolds. And you’ll get to see the photos — won’t you just be glued to your seat until then!!
And your ideas make sense. Kelly is the type of kid who loves to plan and do her own things, so I best go along with what she wants — can only be a good thing, right?
Jeanne, dear Jeanne who art traveling in a motor home across this great great land of ours… Ooo, “class” — what a word!
And you may like to hear I now have stenciled 198 of those flowers with curlicues on our fridge! Yah.
Dang, I better be a finishing this house in time for you to see it. Nah — you’ll have to take us just as we are my dear, and I’m sure you wouldn’t want us any other way at all. Year Of The Paintbrush – whoo-hoo!!!
Dudes, I’m gonna post this, take a donut break, then return.

Sheila, dear sweet Sheila. See!!! This is part of the reason I FREAKING LOVE BLOGGING!!! You guys have ideas I never would’ve dreamed of. How lucky am I to get the wisdom from veteran moms. Here I am thinking, well I have to remove all the old teddy bear wall paper, which I hear is not the easiest thing to do, and if she tires of the penguins I may have to change them out in a few years — but then you come along and say “Let her go for it,it’s her room.” And you are right, just as Dot says too, and Jeanne via Randy Paush. Plus, since we’ll most likely be in Canada by the time she is ready to move on from Club Penguin and maybe the folks who will buy this house will have a kid who just LOVES Club Penguin, which will be the clincher on the deal — and get us our full asking price. Damn, Woman — you so smart!!! And any other commenter who said “let her go for the penguins” is damn smart too. Ooooo, shiver me timbers on you all. In a good timber shivering way, of course. And um, could YOU please come and do the clouds? Or is that something I could try my hand at next too??
Lance!! What’s up with the ants in your pants?? Hope they’re not fire ants? Did you import some Texas ants? I suppose the Wisconsin ants are all underground now, eating all that found birthday cake and hot dog bun bits from all those summer barbecues and picnics. What do you think ants do all winter, anyway? Throw parties? Stencil goddess? GODDESS?? Well, at this point I think I’m more of an assistant to the goddess’ third-in-line secretary — but I’ll take goddess from you!!
Your daughters’ dots sound fabulous!!! What a great time of the year to renew and regenerate one’s personal living space. And glad to hear your daughter is throwing that whole “Blue And Green Should Never Be Seen – Except For In The Washing Machine,” philosophy out the window. A blue and green combo totally rock, kind of like sky and meadow enmeshed.
Jeanne! I’m a lumberjack and I’m okay.
I stencil all night and I stencil all day.
I change my smock about once a year.
But that’s okay – ’cause I’m drinking beer.
JANNIE!! WHOO-HOO!!!!!
SNAGGLE, dear Snaggle!! Kelly only likes champagne. kidding!! Kidding! (She likes rum.) Well, I think after what Sheila says, I’m letting her go for the Club Penguin wall-paper. Wonder how much it costs? But hang the price, I’ve only got one kid and with the money I’ll make on doll furniture stenciling — I can buy all of Disney. Oh, it’s gonna be soooooooo much fun, and showing you all the progress!!! Like your ideas on stenciling and scarves. I too like her room color now too, but I have gotten to enjoy it for quite a few years, so now I’ll let her have her say. And after all, she is growing up and needs to make her own choices too, boo hoo hoo hoo. My baby!
Oh, and I’l have to come up with something nutty to showcase the table and chairs too, wne i get to that post. The seashells! just picked ‘em up here and there over the years, for the “Bermuda” theme dining room, which was actually a bedroom we redid. I want to get my other camera working again, that would really show the nice detail in Kirsten’s accessories. Those are St Lucia buns on her little plate! Later, gator!!
Whoo-Hoo!!
Lance — again!! Well, since that little Kirsten Doll quilt measures about 20″ by maybe 14″ — let’s get you another and you can tie one on each foot to keep the chillies at bay. Okay? Or tie one to each elbow, or where ever you’re coldest. Knees? Ankles? i know it can’t be your heart ’cause that part is on fire for love to the world.
G! Yes, I never like my fine cheap red wine to get too chilly. Dude, I’ll be 46 human earth years on my next celebratory festing of the birth day. It’s all good!! have you watched Lance’s latest video? That’ll put ageing into perspective, boy howdie-doo-dah-day… I’m only just approaching my Second Life Act now.

I love the bed and I love the colors in Kelly’s room. Very happy and free spirited which is my motto for anything in life.
And that is so cool how the quote for the calendar matched your bed for your bottle of wine. Are you tuned into the Universe or what????
Happy New Year to you and yours!

Hey, I have been meaning to get back over here when my brain is more awake. So, this is really cute. You are quiet the crafty type. Me, I would be afraid to start stenciling. Because the last time I got crafty everything in my house got spray painted gold. (well not everything, I mean I had to bail out on spraying the fridge.)
Anyway, I bought this can of 24 kt. gold plated spray paint from Wal-Mart. I sprayed everything. I took the knobs off the cabinets, I took the ceiling fan apart and sprayed the blades. I even sprayed the bathroom sink spout and knobs………and that was a complete disaster! You’ve seen those pretty gold bathroom sink sets at Lowe’s I’m sure. Well, THIS DID NOT RESEMBLE THOSE IN THE LEAST! Now you see why I should NEVER start stenciling. Something just takes me over……I can’t explain it.
I like the Stevie Nicks reference up there. I have been digging up some her classic stuff on you-tube lately.
Oh well…..happy Sunday.

Wow I am impressed and apologetic for not getting here sooner, but my IT was here and I was learning how to back up my computer and pictures and then the Internet went down.
I love the painted and stenciled doll furniture – you did a lovely job. As I said on the Doll trunk post, daughter #2 made a wardrobe and stenciled it for her American Girl doll and accessories….I am going to feature her two doll houses she made as my decor for a house warming/blessing party for my new neighbor on the 23rd.
We still have a penguin bedroom, though no longer a Amazon frog stenciled – jingle bell green complete with parrots, or a clematis purple with white wainscoating, night sky bedroom (She went Hello Kitty for her dorm room in college!)- they are now sweet butter yellow with fabulous duvet covers…back to the penguin guest room.
IT/ Geekgirl SF painted her room all white (igloo) then painted a large cartoon penguin with a wool hat and scarf on the center wall. She build with her dad a shelf with pegs to run the whole length of the room – this holds nearly 100 stuffed penguins – on the book case are ceramic and blown glass penguins….She has taken about 50 of her 300 penguin collection with her to SF. The Duvet was black and the sheets black and white strips….The duvet now is jeans fabric….with red jersey sheets and plaid red, white and blue pillow cases. My Shaker Kit desk, dresser, and 4 poster double bed are now in the room. The floors are now hard wood and it warms up the room considerably…
None of the kids wanted my help to paint! And their rooms were able to change with each transition…
The only room I decorated is the guest bathroom….our house is my husband’s business card for his work…I just keep it clean! and have veto power…and he help the kids build their bedrooms and paint/hang the closet doors and build their own beds….talent abounds…
So I am very impressed with your loving efforts and if I were there I would serve your tea and Barbara Swafford’s Rich and Tasty Scones!

Hi, Jannie! Always fun to pop in and see what creative new project you’re up to. Love the doll bed; great color choices! A great gift to fire up a child’s imagination for hours and hours of play. I’m not familiar with the penguin character, but it could be fun to sprinkle 2-3 around the room in little surprise places, like low by the baseboard next to the door, or standing next to a window; instead of doing a whole theme, these would just be little happy surprises to be discovered. Just a thought.
You’d asked me previously about my camera. I’m not a skilled photog by any means, and don’t aspire to be. I’m a point-n-shoot, easy-peasy gal. I use a Canon PowerShot A1000IS. It gets the job done and the best part is that when I upload pics to my laptop, I just pop the camera’s media card into the slot on my laptop and it does it all auto-mat-i-cal-ly. I love that!

Happy Lotus Nadia!! Enchanted to see you again. I too love those bedroom colors, painted when she was in utero and had not much say in the color schem matter. I still have half a roll of that wall paper left, I believe I shall never part with it, maybe my grand-daughter will make us of it somewhere. — From Jannie, who are in tune with the great universe of wine and wonder.

But my iPhone was not cooperating to leave said comment on your post. Yet I have learned this comment is probably even better. So great I’m not even gogin to fix these typos! I’ve had my run-ins with 24 kt. gold plated spray paint too – — painted my genuine imitation leather skirt a nice brassy yuck. happy sunday (or whatever day you read this) too to you Tammy from TN!
lane!! happy olde new year to you too, hope it grabs ya by the socks and keeps on yanking — in the best sock grabbing way imaginable, of course!!
PAIGE!! IT CAME BACK??? The card you sent to my poor old now defunct P.O. Box came back?? Is that it? There is a great heavenly loving Lord. There really is!!! Well, I know that already. Consider me quadruple-dog dared. Or maybe it’s a card saying there is wine in the mail for me? What? WHAAATTT???? I’ll wait for delivery each day until three until you tell me.
Patricia!! You can be all as apologetic as you wish — just never go apopletic, okay?? Wow!! You going to take pix of the house-warming doll houses?? PLEASE!! What a great idea – -just don’t get them so warm and heated they catch on fire, okay??
Those are some special American Doll wardrobes. And holy freaking cow!! I cannot imagine the penguin room, with 4-poster bed. Wow! Wow!! Wow!!! Photos? Please?? Sorry about bugging for the photos, you know what a visual nut I am. Does it get kinda chilly in that guest bedroom, tho? I feel a might shiver just imagining it. And if you were here — I’d feed you ten Waldorf Salads.
Friends, so sorry, I must get to sleep. I look forward to answering the remaining comments in the a.of m.

Dear Lovely Liara: I love this… “As each person adapts to his environment, he realizes he is connected to how others feel about his choices and action before he makes them.” That is so true. When something moves or resonates deeply with me chances are great my friends will too.
Dear Lovely Tess: Now, does my house look like yours used to because of wine in a doll bed? Or just the dolls and girly stuff in general? Dang, there goes my hope of a wine bottle border. Maybe I can stencil in a bottle or two among the flocks of penguins! Not exactly sure when I’ll be painting, gotta check out that Club Penguin wall paper first. Sure, I’ll call ya!
Dear Lovely Rose: Thanks, I LOVE those colors too. The blue of the flowers looks more purple than its darker appearance in the bottle — still I love it too! THis was my first ever stenciling endeavor, and I think I could well be hooked for life on it. And LOVE your idea for those surprise elements in her room, I might just have her stay out of the room a while as I put some of those touches in . Great idea, thanks!! Happy surprises are a super super great suggestion. Wow, a Canon PowerShot A1000IS. Nice job. And I still remember your home’s gorgeous golden glow for Christmas. So pretty. See you soon!!
Dear Lovely
J.D. I put the wine to sleep, then it did the same to me.
Why thanks J.D. (and say this whole sentence in an Ellie Mae accent, as she would say to J.B.) on your kind words about my color sense, just a little something I picked up from my grandmother, my mom’s mom, that is.
Dear Lovely Barbara: Well, ain’t you the sunshiney one getting my head all puffed up. But it is I who is inferior to YOU and your tremendous blogging and coding acumen. I stand on the shoulders of giants, like you to let my talents shine. I am so lucky to know you and learn so much from YOUR blog!! Thank you. Oh, and time? I do not have a “real” job, so that helps.
Blogging may well becoming my job.
Dear Lovely
Glenn: Why thank you. I did do some toll booth painting in my younger years, but not any tole. Oh, I am so sorry the Christmas card would not reach me, darn it. Forgive me greatly. Why did I neglect to mention my P.O. box’s demise when i did not renew it. E-mail me and I’ll send my home address, if you wish. Flag day, eh? I forget what that was. End of the war, or something?
Dear Lovely Momisodes: Thanks! It was so fun to do and I still have a couple tweaks to do on the table and chairs, power was off Christmas Eve and I’ve just not gotten around to it yet. I wonder if your girls will one day be into American Girl Dolls? I bet they will!!

I think you should do a post seeking a dozen people to commit to buying doll beds and then take advantage of that great buy from the manufacturer/get a shipping deal. Bonus that they are made in the USA.
Yes, on the talent factor. Some of us are not so crafty, Jannie.
No. I’d skip the alcoholic beverages when marketing the doll beds. Negative on the alcohol.
My daughter has ceased the doll furniture talk. I’m not sure how long my reprieve will last.
I have her trained to just be very grateful for the two dolls she has. I need to hide the American Girl catalog!
