Updating Her Nursery Decor, Chapter 2

The day Jim took that polaroid of me, I took the above of him.

Notice that Kelly did indeed have a window treatment in her room at one time!  But sadly, that blind and valance went missing the same day as my good can opener, my blue Sharpie and all my freshly-knit kelp tube socks. I still think it was the butler, but he’s too long-gone to Mexico to ever know for sure.

Anyway… back to the above fuzzy photo!

Chance, the poochie at Jim’s feet, was our firstborn — a puppy Jim surprised me with in 1992. And the poochie in Jim’s arms is Chance’s firstborn, Peach.  Beloved Chancie died from complications of an attack by either a coyote or large dog when Kelly was 2. But Peach is still with us!  She’s 12 now, and sweet as ever.  Still very active.  And still excellent at puking on carpet instead of tile.

Directly below, flash forward to January 1st, 2010… Not so tidy of a corner.

Jumble

But… January 5th saw things looking better in the olde clearing-out-and-making-over-Kelly’s-room plan!

cleared

And yesterday saw the room as below (’cept I’m not happy with the lighting in the first photo, boo hoo.)  Oh well….. I’ll survive.

Kelly_Dad_Jan_10_10

But this one is nice, I think!

Plain_cute_jan_10_10

So there you have it!  The current state of Kelly’s closet corner, as we embark upon ousting the decor I so lovingly prepared during my pregnancy to usher in the new Club Penguin era.  Are you excited!?!?!?

Can I get a whoopity-whoo, or two ?!?!

Have you ever wall papered a room?  Or decorated one?

Have you ever had a can opener go missing, even if just a manual one?  Quite frankly — I like manual can openers, have used them exclusively for years.  They are best overall, don’t you think? Or do you?

Well, by golly — let’s do up a poll and find out just what Jannie Funster readers think!

And don’t forget to come back and see how your can opener life experience compares with your peers, as more and more votes pour in. :)

And…puking on the carpet (why am I drawn to this, anyway??) Our cat Rufus does that too! And, our daughter…yep – her too. Well, that or her bed. She’s getting better (it’s taken 12 years!!!). Always scary when she gets sick – yikes!!

And that last picture – super nice!! I think you have a real affinity for those two folks, don’t you!! whoopity-whoo!! (make it 5!)

Jannie of my heart, where do you find the time, girl.
I take the weekend off, and BAM, you already have posted two more things. Loved the new Bords ona Wire. In all the years we’ve had an electric can opener, I still dig out the old manual can opener. It just appeals to me more. Poltergeists have hidden in numerous times, but sooner or later it finds its way back into the drawer. I have accused Melva of hiding it, since she prefers the
electric ride, but she denies it. I am a bit confused about the remodel there in Kelly’s closet. Is it a walk-in closet adjacent to her bedroom, or one corner
of her bedroom? Oh, and it’s nice to have blue bunny visiting other blogs, like mine. BB, you need to know that the Jannie used a “bad” word over on my comments
the other day. I loved it, but I knows how this embar-asses you.

Hi Jannie .. well done and great pics of the room as it transforms itself .. wish it did transform itself?? Blue Bunny magic I think needed here ..

I have wallpapered one room and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and was really chuffed with myself … paint & I don’t agree .. painted windows – hated it!! SO I’ll put penguins up for you .. but sloshing about – sorry! no way …

Can openers .. we had one of the first electric ones – on a Kenwood yonks ago .. and it was wonderful ..never got used to one since! Now I only ever use manual .. but some tins defy opening .. pull rings make life easier ..

Do paint tins have pull rings?! Enjoy the change of scenery .. pooh bears to penguins with ice-cream colours – too lovely!

Hope you can concentrate with blue bunny around, and all the instruction from family and four legged animules! Enjoy – Hilary Melton-Butcher

Aww, Jannie. :) This takes me right back to when I was pregnant with Joe Joe, my own first born. We painted and decorated his nursery to within an inch of its life. With Lily, uhh… she stayed in our room with us for like 8 months, and then we plunked her in a room at a rented house that we weren’t allowed to paint. I can’t even imagine living in the same house for that long! Part of me is jealous. The memories.

I never did attempt wallpapering because I’ve spent a lot of time scraping it off the wall, but it does look beautiful and it’s totally coming back. I love toille wallpaper. Maybe someday I’ll put some in our dining room (if we ever buy a house again!).

Kelly is precious in that pic. :)

PAIGE!! Hahahush, Paige-y lost her brush. But found it again, in a corner of the den.

LANCE!! I so appreciate those enthusiastic whoopity-whoos!! Thanks so much. Why are you drawn to puke on the carpet? You mean you end up stepping in it?? Drawn to it in that way? :) Oh, yes, kids do tend to barf where ever they may find themselves, don’t they? Yes, it is always scary when they are sick, Kelly had a fever of close to 104 when she was not quite 2, SCARY! Pneumonia. And yes, I am starting to like those 2 I photographed a little more each day, they’re quite growing on me.

PAIGE!! I am so sorry for your can opener troubles and hereby say a little prayer that it still may show up one day for you. my can opener is named Junebug? How about yours? I’ve seen your knack for decorating on your blog!!!!! And I look forward to seeing what you’ll come up with for the post-flood re-do, I know it’ll be great — you have that artsy eye. Yes, we’re all so excited too for Kelly! Later today I’m going to check online for the new wallpaper. Whoo-hoo! Whoopity-whoo!!

LYNN!! Yay, more whoopity-whoos!!! Whoo-hoo. yah, there is that little task of taking down the teddy bear paper. I’ve heard a lot of moaning and groaning on “Trading Spaces” for that, but have also glimpsed hope in some kind of wall paper removing tool. Gonna git me one of those indeed. Luckily, it’s just the top third of the whole room, so not too bad. And I do have paint AND primer underneath the paper, so hopefully it’ll be a breeze. Beer swilling might help. :) Did you find any blue Sharpie marks under your wall paper? I assuming the paper has peeled off some?

GLENN!! of my heart. Well…. my current goal is to post Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with perhaps just a photo Wednesdays. Schedule subject to change! yep — I agree — a good manual can opener beats the blubber off an electric one overall. (For me, anyway, and apparently most of the poll takers.) Good question about Kelly’s closet corner! Nope, it’s just one corner of her bedroom. But the purple closet you see does lead to a walk-in space, under the stairs of our first garage addition. Yes, I am afraid my occasional potty mouth has infiltrated BB’s tender heart — little bunnies have big ears!!

JINGLE!! Yay!!! A triple whoopity-whoo. Oh, you all are making my day! Thank you! Who I am, is Jannie, Ma’am. That’s Annie with a J — once called Grannie Jannie. Jannie sitting on my fannie at the moment. Ah -ha!! Another manual can opener fan! So much easier to use and clean that the electric ones, I think. Glad you laughed — me and my Blog Management Crew aim to please!!

HILARY!! Thanks, I think I’ve made good progress in the past week — it was pretty messy. Ahh, but if it transformed itself I would be denied the thrill and glory of the creation, would I not? :) (Altho, I would NOT turn down the dishes transforming themselves from dirty to clean and all put nicely away.) :) I have now wallpapered 3 rooms, the first of which I did not know to butt-joint the paper, I overlapped it. But it still looks not bad. Yonks?? A new word on me!! Yes we Americans and Brits both speak English but it still amazes me our differences in terms of speech. Yes, pull rings are ace – love them for my Kitty’s food tins. Paint cans, no pulls, not the ones I use anyway. They generally mix the tint or shade into the white base, so the cans must be easy-open, I guess. And then shaken on the paint shaker machine! BB is actually a good help with remodeling and such, he sleeps mostly as I work, and that is good for my concentration! Have a great day, Hilary!!

HEATHER!! MM HEATHER!! How did you know I’ve been thinking about YOU??? And you beat me to the punch over here. Funny, you are the second mom in the past few days to say they went nuts with the nursery for the first kid, then things were completely different with the second, I bet that’s how it goes for MOST moms! Did you know you were having a boy with Joe-Joe?? I never ever thought I’d have wallpaper in our house, but I did our kitchen first and it looks great. I think! Jim bought this house almost 21 years ago, and I’ve been here 19.5 years!! Whoopity-whoo. And you should see the JUNK we’ve accumulated!! :) So wonderful to see you, Heather, I’ve missed you!

Well I actually hired someone to take the kitchen paper and re-paper. He took a swipe at the taking down and said that since it had been put up without primer, it wouldn’t come off easily. So he slathered it with spackle and left me to sand it when it was dry and then to paint it with something called Shieldz (primer, I guess.) And then he put new paper on top of that. My bathroom is next. Heavy sigh.

    I’m a decorating fool. Or a foolish decorator. Haven’t decided yet ;)

It’s fun to change things up – though I would never change my manual can opener for an electric. I have lost can openers. I figured out that they ran away with the ball of string in the junk drawer. You know, opposites really do attract.

JINGLE!! Thank you so much for nominating me for whatever it is the award is for. Which again reminds me, I want to do a post on the “Scary Clown” award Shay (Fireblossom,) gifted me with some moons ago. Yes, I think that will be posted sooner than later. I will look forward to seeing the award you cave me when next I arrive in your Jingleshpere.

LYNN!! Ahhhhh, you know… now that you mention it, Kelly has spackle on 3 of her walls (the 4th was built during the closet-at-the-end-of-the-house-portion of our now 15-year remodel. :) And still re-modeling. But it’s been fun too, I must admit. Most times. :) And Kelly wants her spackle off. Hmmmn. I am definitely going to take the “popcorn” acoustic spray off her ceiling. Just not today. :) Sounds like a real undertaking at your place, as we went through torching, (blow-torching) all the old linoleum off our floors — it was under the new carpet in EVERY room when Jim bought the house. And in the kitchen. But all that is behind us now. :) I remember seeing and commenting on your wall paper — nice. Do you have a paper style in mind for your bathroom? Or decor theme?

NATALIA!! Please don’t hold your breath — I’ve got regular life swirling around me, and 6 hours blogging a day to do, but you KNOW I’ll get it done!! And I’m planning a fun post for a Friday (possibly even this coming Friday, but don’t hold me to that,) :) to show another room we’ve done here in the house — befores and afters. Actually, I could break that room up into a whole blog series, 5 parts, at least. Maybe 10! That room’s seen quite the evolution since we first poured the slab for it 15 years ago! :)

TALON!! Ahh yes, I do remember, now that you jog my memory — YOU were the poor soul who had to address a prison of pink, or a puke of pink?? :) But you made it out alive — and I will too from this whole house remodel. :) I would say you are a decorating genius — in fact, I think you are doing your readership a grand disservice but not sharing some of your current abode’s nooks and crannies. I really do! The couple pictures you e-mailed me stand out very very decorator chic-beautiful. Seriously. Will you share some with the public sometime, please? As many of my readers here, you are an artist in many facets. It is fun to create a beautiful space… Oh and Talon, more on Club Penguin some day!!

And another manual can opener lover! Yay!!! I’m Normal!! I’m Normal!!!! (Well, almost..) :)

EVERYBODY!!! I am now going to read Chronic Healing Jeanne’s second-last post, then her last post, yes — in that order! Then have a lovely bath. I’ll be enjoying Sheila’s Aventine Hill soap for my face — and body!! Gentle and natural, and so so so sweetly fragrant. I forget the exact name of the scent, but I am so getting more from her!! yo ho ho and a bottle of fun!

K!! Yay! Now THAT was a plan, not bothering with the nursery stage. Who REALLY needs a decorated nursery, anyway? All babies need is a loving home and some food occasionally. :) I bet your big kid rooms will be great-looking! And one more manual can opening person!!!

VERED!! Well, I haven’t done much on her room in a few days. Been crazily going through and organizing all our photos, pre-digital, about 600 done, another 400 to go, give or take a thousand. Let’s hear it for manual can openers!!

LANCE!! Was that recently Rufus did that? Poor Rufus? I must admit stepping in dog vomit beats stepping in what comes out the other end of the dog — especially in my bare feet! I’ve experienced both firsthand and the puke would by FAR be my choice of the two — if I ever HAD to choose. :) How ’bout you? :)

TAMMY!! Jannie’s inner Picasso! I like that — I’ve been kind of thinking of myself as an inner Salador Dali – Van Gogh mix, but Picasso will work! As I mentioned to Natalia above, don’t hold your breath on teh room getting done soon. I also blog 6 hours a day and schlep the kid around some. And these past few days I’ve been been organizing ALL our pre-digital pix — fun! Finding some super-great ones to scan and put up here. And Tammy — some times Old School is the way to go. Electric can openers were a plot of invention, anyway. I do like an electric knife, tho, for carving, even tho I have not ever had one. But Mom did (does?) Bi-polar Pete, the erstwhile butler! :)

LYNN!! The bathroom plan sounds nice and clean indeed. Accessories should make it lovely. Is it a full bath, or half? And sometimes getting started is the hardest part! I know I felt like that today before doing my dishes. But not only did I do my dishes, but I scrubbed out the tub, cleaned the laundry hamper and actually FOLDED a load of laundry, whoo-hoo!! Seriously.

Well Jannie I had to Google Salvador Dali. Is he for real with that pointed mustache? That is down right scary. Girl that looks like a weapon. It looks like he has hair sprayed it upon his lip.

Anyway, it reminds me of a story. A true story, not one of my fabricated tales either. Several yrs ago the company I was working for sent me to a yearly cake decorating seminar. (It was done every year just before the holidays to broaden our artistic minds I suppose, and prepare for the gluttonous season.)

So I walk into the room where the meeting, just before it starts while this guy is setting up his stuff. When he turned around it was all I could do to compose myself. He was(what I thought was wearing) this huge handlebar mustache all dolled up with spikes on the ends like this painter dude.

Sometimes I stick my foot in my mouth, but thank God i kept my mouth shut because child I wanted to say, “what’s with that stupid mustache?” You know it was close to Halloween so I thought it was part of a prop or something. By about a quarter way into his seminar, and that wad of hair was not removed I found out it was real. He was some sort of German pastry chef. But until I got used to the idea I had a hard time controlling myself from laughing when I looked at him.
So that is my silly mustache story.

Now Jannie if you plan on channeling this Mr Mustache painter, I hope you don’t get some wild urge to grow a weird mustache yourself. As much as I love you, that would be so unattractive. :)

I have only an electric canopener at the moment and I hate it,it is so loud that I feel like everyone in my apartment building can hear me using it, especially at night, I could just be paranoid but really, from my experience, apartment people are very strange and are always eavesdropping. You can tell when you hear them walking very quietly overhead and pausing abruptly when you’re saying or doing something.
Tragically I have lost more than a few canopeners and carrot peelers while doing after-meal-cooking cleanup, I have a bad habit of just scraping everything off of the cutting board into garbage can in a very carefree manner, this happens most often when I’m cooking recipes that call for wine.
Kelly’s room looks great. I should take some pictures of Alyssa’s room to give you something to compare it to, its a nightmare in there, she has a thousand precious treasures that she refuses to part with, dolphin figurine collection, a half dozen snow globes , beach rocks, seaglass and littlest petshops and Barbies galore, she has even saved all of her schoolwork duotangs for the last three years and she insists on keeping every page. I have secretly thrown stuff away while she’s at school and she has caught me. It must be the Gram knowles in her, she’s the worst pack rat ever, I have never seen a ten year old kid that wants to shop at Value Village ( its like Goodwill) and gets totally stoked about a yardsale down the street.

I’m a paint over the wall paper kind of girl myself…I’ve tried every chemical potion and tool known to humanity to remove wall paper (with ease…ha, ha, ha) except for a nuclear reaction in the girls bedrooms…and well…that’s why I am a fervent PAINT OVER THE WALL PAPER kind of girl.(If you choose to do the paint over thing, make sure you do a coat of white primer first…this cover up the pattern of the paper below and creates a surface that the new paint will want to adhere too) Also, if you think plain old paint is boring, we added some fun colorful wallies…there are fun, funky, big kid ones…not just the baby ones, don’t worry. And best of all, they are super easy to put up!!!

    http://www.walldecorshops.com/groupwallies.html

Have to say, I am definitely a manual can opener girl too (I did the vote so don’t add this again, that would be cheating.)

Hey, Sheila!! Did you see the plug for your wonderful Aventine Hill up there in my comment to EVERYBODY?? Thanks for the whoopity-whoos, I gladly add them to my inventory! Wow — horizontal wall-paper? And 20′ long?? Holy cow. No way. But your place is real logs, isn’t it?? Or is that WALLPAPER??

Lane!! :) , on the puke thing. And hmmn, is Roofis, I mean Rufus, playing when he does that? Or really going in for some damage?

Patricia!! And funny — the ousted stuff in now in over a dozen bins and boxes in the front room! And I guess I should thank my blessed stars — no porta potty has even been here for any facet of this now 16-year remodel. OMG, you poor thing. I guess the 2 weeks without a kitchen sink was a gift, comparatively. Little brown pup is Sweety, weiner dog, he’ll be (I think,) 6 this spring. I’d have to do the math on that.

Tammy!! I am sure you’ve seen Dali’s paintings but just did not know him by name. He did all those weird-cool “melting” clocks and such. Genius. Strange but brilliant. And Tammy, please don’t tell anyone but sometimes when I see men with those long thin beards, I mean looooong beards I want to pull out a scissors and give a good chop. But please don’t tell a soul, okay?? Thanks!

Rosie, Dear Rosie!! Ah, yes, all the paring knives and forks gone into the trash for me too. So sorry for your current can opener troubles, Sister. I do feel for you. Is it as loud as a rock tumbler, tho? Those freaking things are like jack-hammers. Speaking of jack hammers I hear today our neighbors taking up something. But back to this comment!! You funny wine mention reminds me of a cartoon I saw yesterday. I may scan and post it one day. I say let her keep as much paper as she can. Of course, you do have 2 kids and will have Austin’s stuff to contend with too. I’m sure whatever you choose do will be exactly what the universe has in mind for you. It’s all good! Duotang!! — haven’t seen or thought of that word in YEARS!! xoxoxoxo Wonder if our American counterparts even know what that means?

Off for a little comment break now! Time to meditate. The heating guys have gone.

See you all soon, or at least “pretty-soon.” :)

I am sure no one will suspect a thing, especially since you have gone out of your way to be so discreet about it. I mean, after all it not like you put it in the newspaper. You know how those nasty gossip columnists are.

And wild horses could not drag gossip out of me. Well, I have the perfect example. Just the other day my neighbor (Ruth Ann Whittaker) told me she has been “socially intimate” with the plumber……..and I have not told a soul. (Maybe it was the one that run off with your stuff) Now, if one cannot trust his plumber who can he trust?

This incident of indiscretion has haunted pour Ruth. Apparently it has been going on for years right under her poor husbands nose. Finally the day he caught them in a very compromising position he began to question why his first born looked more like the plumber than himself. It led to a nasty scandal and some people think that poor plumber boy ended up in the Tn river. But the whole town knows that is nonsense.

You know I just had to get that off my chest….that is such a weight to be carrying around and these blogs are like writing Dear Abby. It is very discreet. No one even knows what state or city you are from.

I just wanted you to know for sure how trustworthy I am when it comes to discretion.

Oh yeah, manual can openers all the way. It’s funny because I can stand there and spend a solid minute using a manual can opener to open a can, but I lose my patience FAST with an automatic can opener. If I can’t get it open within 10 seconds, I feel like throwing it out the window! Double standard? Perhaps…

It’s kind of surreal seeing the pictures of the same corner nine years apart. It almost seems like something out of a documentary or something.

    Whoo-hoo.

    And a big whoopity whoo.

SNAGGLE!! Paste, eh? The 3 rooms I’ve papered in this house the paper comes with the glue on the back, well it becomes glue once you dip it in water. I had the guest bath-tub to use before but now that bathroom is all torn up with no tub in there at all — yes, another part of the Queen Of Remodeling Patience. :) Yep, sweater time here indeed! And our heater is on its last legs, but the guys diagnosed it today. Luckily this cold snap is about over. Peach is fine with portraits but Sweety does tend to wander. Popcorn ceiling mess is quite easily done by spraying it from a water bottle, but yes — messy!! Drywall dust, again!! :)

J.D. !! He was one of my first suspects but he had a great alibi. 27 people saw him at the library that afternoon, all afternoon. At first I was picturing Lucy from the Peanuts — but then clued in to I Love Lucy — I imagine that was a funny episode!!

LAURA!! Painting over!! Well, well, well — wonders of blogging beauty never cease. Thank you for your painting-over suggestion. I am totally going to see if that is an option. And I so wish I could click on that link you left now, but this particular computer at the library only allows one Internet window at a time to be open — ancient computer! Kelly and I will look at that site later together. Thank you so much! you may just be a godsend on this de-papering query. Yep, them who likes manual can openers, likes ‘em a LOT!!

MAMA Z!! Well, there has been some progress, yes. Tho these past few days I’ve been organizing photos, instead of working on her room.

WADE!! :) :) And I try to make sure treatment I’ve given any of our windows is of the most fair and loving kind.

    JANNIE!!

JINGLE!! :) :) :) :) :) Will my head ever return to normal Jannie size again?? “Baby, Baby don’t get hooked on me…” :) Thanks Jingle, your beautiful words make me all glow-y.

THOMMA LYN!! YES!! A manual can oper can be a life saver in a power outage. What can have you most recently opened? I opened some cranberry sauce, whole berries not 2 days ago!! xoxxo and good stuff to you too, my dear!

TAMMY!! Yes, my discretion is the greatest part of my valor! Hey, I don’t teven know what that means, but I know those words do go together in that saying. TAMMY! TAMMY!! TAMMY!!! You haaave spun a yarn here about dear Ruthie adn teh plumber I do believe? The part about “Socially Intimate” makes me laugh!! Good one!!

Trey!! Yep, Jannie Documentaries are my newest Funsterment Division here. Look for one every week, or ever 6 months, as the mood his the Funsterment Global board members — they are a wacky bunch. And Trey, I have thrown an electric can opener out the window. And Jim threw a circular saw out once.

NADIA!! That may just be the most amazing and eye-opening poll I have ever posted here. Simple and Natural is the way to go. And what is the last can of stuff YOU opened?? :) Oh, I guess mine was actually worms, figuratively, of course.

Great pictures! So cute to see some father-daughter pictures. :)

I viewed with great awe the transformation from what you called “not so tidy” to the spotless version below it. Are you available to clean at my house?? Perhaps you could combine such a trip with an in-person wood shipment? How does that sound? Feasible? How about Thursday at noon? Are you available then?

I did vote on your can opener poll (manual).

Hey, Cookie! Glad you fixed that, now I can scoot in to see you very very fast-like. Oh no, another attestment to the hardship of wall paper removal. And only since October?? I’ve been planning Kelly’s room re-do since last April!

Now, Tammy, you spinnin’ any more of your yarns today??? And are you back in school today?

Ching Ya!! I am truly amazed and astounded by the can opener poll results. I had no idea~! I thought I was some sort of Neanderthal with my manual opener, but NO! NO I tell ya!!! And Ching Ya, I’ve been going through tons and tons of old pictures, and having so so so much fun. What a walk down memory lane, for sure. You never cease to amaze me with your sweetness!!

Hey, Jeanne!! Thursday at noon — expect me with 3 cords of fully chopped and split hardwood. And my broom, mop, and 27 organizing bins. Could you have some coffee and donuts ready, please? Pretty please?? Whoo-hoo. Well, I have to get BB to change up his song in the comments as I know you are not the biggest Neil fan ever, to say the least. Oh, I can’t wait to hear about Josh and Alicia. Could it REALLY be true. Oh, I hope, hope, hope so!!

    Jannie,

I cannot wait to see you tomorrow at noon!!!!! (I have the right Thursday, right?) I am looking forward to getting that wood you’re delivering tarped to protect it. (The garage is out of room with too much wood to fit. So, we have the rest next to the driveway). The wood must be seasoned to burn it, of course.

Who knew fires were so complicated? I grew up in a home with no fireplace and no wood stove. So this is all new to me. (Well, not NEW seeing as we moved in here in 1999).

It is just one of those country living things that I have adjusted to… the importance of good firewood! (BTW, burning wood that’s a little wet doesn’t work so well). It may sound like we’re all set for wood but really it goes very quickly here in the tundra!

So we anxiously await your personal delivery. I am so psyched that you are bringing your cleaning and organizing materials with you!!

    You’re so well-prepared & efficient!

I will DEFINITELY have some coffee and donuts ready for you!!!!!! It’ll be the “Jannie special”. I’ll use the nice dishes and everything. After all, you’re special!

Now… regarding poor Mr. Diamond… On the contrary, thanks to you we now sing “I AM I SAID” nightly. Yup.

Also, Gyan found a YouTube video (one of the many for that song) of Neil singing “I AM I SAID”. It was vintage 1971!

Yes, Gyan picked it especially for us to sing along with. My daughter really belts it out. Let me tell you… she belts it out!

YES!!!!! Josh & Alicia are going to adopt Alex!!!!!

It’s true!! I’m going to be an aunt!

    Woo hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jeanne, Oh, yes, Thursday in 10 years from now, the wood will be very well seasoned by then. And termite-free, of course. Yes, covered with a satin-lined rubber tarp.

I am just crossing my fingers for Alicia and Josh, as it could still fall through. But God forbid. How certain does it appear?? I am just so so so optimistic for them.

Sniff sniff… I had your donuts and beer all laid out. I kept checking the clock. I paced a hole (almost like a Texas sinkhole) in the floor (I think you owe me some replacement flooring wood)…

Then I read your blog post here and reality conked me on the head! I thought you were visiting here today (technically yesterday as it’s past midnight). I now read your blog and see that you meant Thursday 10 years from now. Boo hiss. :( I was SOOOOOO excited to see you today too. It may take some time for me to recover.

I do like the satin lined tarp idea. I’m allergic to latex but I’m sure we can find an alternative the to rubber in the next 10 years. Termite-free sounds good. We just can’t achieve this status with pesticides because… well you know how sensitive I am (not that pesticides are good for ANYBODY)!

Alicia reassures me that their adoption of Alex is a “go”. I was worried, like you, after the tragic adoption loss previously but she is confident this will go through. Woo hoo!!!! :)
