Obviously I Can’t Sing And Hold A Video Camera Steady At The Same Time, But I’ll Work On That!

Just a little song snippet from last summer at Mom & Dad’s cottage up there in Canada land. Still don’t know the horse’s name, but by any name he’d still be as wild and sweet. Let’s call him Bon Jovi! Wouldn’t mind being there at the cottage today, except it would be a tad chillier, like possibly -40. Actually, Mom says it’s been warm — just below freezing lately! She’s about ready to break out her bikini. And toss a smelt on the barbie.

How ’bout you! What would you be doing if summer magically appeared?

bb, I saw the comment you left over on Lane Savant’s site; cool comments kid. We here in the Northwest are
getting low 30’s in the mornings, but high 50’s and
sunshine during the afternoons. Considering the severity of the winter over the rest of the country, including Texas, we almost feel guilty with our El Nino luck; not.
Plants are sprouting everywhere, trees are budding, and they will all be sad when the temps dip later this month or in March. Will daddy Jim be able to accompany the Miss Jannie and missy Kelly trip to Canada the next time. Do he dig the folk’s cabing and farm as much as the ladies? How’s the weather at Lance’s house? Isn’t it a hoot that they have to haul snow in trucks to pour on the slopes in Vancouver for the Olympics. Might just hold them in Sante Fe next time. Summer means road trips for Melva and I; lots of them since it will be the first summer of my retirement.

Glenn!! You must be healthy wealthy and wise to rise so early. I hope your buds do not get nipped in the bud shouldst a cold snap arrive. We do plan on taking a family vacation all 3 of us this summer, to where, I have no idea, but someplace coastal, and not postal.

Lynn!! And I’d like to join you in that respite, if your sister wouldn’t mind me inviting myself for a drink and a chat! :)

Jewel!! Thank you. Maybe you could escape into a book right now and imagine you’re in summer! :) Who would you be reading?

Talon!! He looked like a rock-n-roll horse to me! LOL on your “what would you do…” response! And hey, summer will be here before you know it! And I’m thinking you’ll have lots of sun this time, unlike 2009.

    wow,

    how to write a poem….

    first one:

    start with

I want to love my family,
    I want to feel loved,
I want to make some breakthrough in poetry,
I want to collect words that rhythm,
I want to make 7 new friends each week,
which means commenting for 3 new blogs each day,
I want to breathe fresh air,
    I want to feel good….

    2nd one:

    Because of u, I smiled,
Because of u, I eat more today,
Because of u, I walk like dancing,
Because of u, I talk like singing,
Because of u, I write like water fall,
    ….

    3rd one to try:

I appreciate spring time because it is warmer,
I appreciate spring time because it reminds me of nature full of life,
I appreciate spring time because it teaches me rebirth of everything,
I appreciate spring time because it shows me hope in the new beginning….

    wow…
    i am bad.
U can write easy ones like these first…

    Good luck!
    U R smart girl.

Due to our Texas tie, u can take two of those awards from me,
please not mention it in my blog.

or follow the winner, u r sure getting a few from them, some of the nominees have 2 or 3 friends only…

Jingle, Jingle!! So nice so nice, you commented twice.:) I am totally in awe of all the award linking you do over there. THANK YOU!!!! You are so going to be a famous blogger, whether you want to or not. You love and light shines. It is a great tune isn’t it!? I absolutely adore AMERICA, as do so many others.

J.D. I hadn’t thought of it that way, the horse coming towards my singing! He is a very friendly horse, Bon Jovi is, except he bit my sister’s boyfriend (well then boyfriend) on the belly. That was not such a nice move.

Dot!! obviously you all have no fire ants in DC. — Just 4 feet of snow. As you may remember, my lying in the grass sky-gazing did not go so great one day last later summer.

Vered!! Would I be invited if I were in your neck of the woods?? And would you mind if I pinched one of your roses to take with me when I left?? :)

Jingle!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, how lovely!! You inspire me. I inspire you? Have you not been eating well? I have been but I think I’m losing weight lately. I just LOVE spring too! One day I might travel the globe from continent to continent, timing it just so I’m always in spring there. I promise I’ll just take one award! well, maybe 1.5? :)

Hi Jannie .. what a great little snippet – singing along as you video and the little chap comes up to say ‘hi’! Doesn’t it look beautiful .. and oh to have summer here – but first I’ll have spring.

We had cruel clouds here today – but at least no snow .. lots of nasty heavy rain, that I managed to avoid I’m pleased to say!

Longing to see the little green buds burst through, blossom appear, leaves sprout, more blossom, bulbs in profusion .. then we can think about summer .. enjoy each little piece as it comes along, gently does it – enjoy each day ..

Lance!! And it’s not as easy to take video and sing at the same time as one would think, especially with my whole trick knee thing going on. REALLY?? You had a pony? My brother pat had a pony called Kim. Ornery little fellow. And the pony was too. Just kidding! Just kidding. Pat was great. And Kim was ornery. Cute tho.

Karyn!! Totally agree. Spring is not to be missed. all that greening going on, buds, birds, bees… Beer. Happiness. Wish it were always spring.

Dot!! Do they have you all locked out of those porn sites? :)

Laura!! I love those relaxed summer days off school too, those lazy hazy crazy days of summer. I love being in the cool water in Texas summer — lakes, pools, rivers. You name it. 45 degrees today? Wow, what’s going on ??

Sami!! You know, after I posted this I thought to myself I had not made a special note for you Southern hemisphere buddies who are in the dead of summer now. Did I ever tell you i have a friend in Mooroka? And one in Kenmore? QLD, of course! Yep! Two gals my age I’ve been penpals with since 1994, and we’ve not yet met!

Hilary!! Are you up past your bedtime tonight?? Yes you must be. I sure hope you are well. When do you think you’ll be getting your first buds and bulbs up? Soon,I imagine! I see some trees budding here now (but you don’t need to know that perhaps. Forget that last bit.) How ’bout those Olympics!? Gently every day, yes. enjoy each and every one.

    Jannie,

I love hearing you sing any way I can get it! YouTube, CD… doesn’t matter to me. Now, I don’t know if you know this about me or not but if I hear a song and can’t remember who originally sang it, it drives me crazy.

So, I haven’t even finished reading your post yet but scrolled down here to let you know that I Googled “Horse With No Name” and landed straight on an audio clip by America.

Scrolling back up now to see the rest of your post. To be continued…

OK. If it were summer now, I’d likely be indoors with the shades drawn and the fans running. With my heat intolerance, one thing you will not hear me do is complain about winter. It’s 28 Fahrenheit now (darn toasty). While my fibromyalgia and Reynaud’s might not like cold weather, I prefer to stay conscious. (In the summertime, staying conscious can be quite a feat)! Fainting becomes downright commonplace with the heat. Let’s just say I’d never make it in Texas. ;)

OK. If it was a NICE summer day (defined by me as 70 and sunny but with enough cloud cover that I don’t get sunburned through my 50 SPF sunblock and very fair skin), then I would probably be out canoeing with my family.

My dear husband does all of the paddling because my arms haven’t been able to do that in years (thank you again, fibro). So, I am grateful that he paddles so nicely.

Actually, let me correct that. This past summer, our resident “sweet blossom” joined him paddling and proved herself an accomplished paddler! He said her “power to weight ratio” is awesome. That’s a fancy way of saying she is light but very strong. He was amazed at just how well she did.

So, there you go. A perfect summer day… out in the Old Town cedar canoe. ;)

Thanks Dot!! I do feel confident with my singing now, even when I recorded that CD I felt I was still learning But hey, hard to start somewhere. The next 12 recordings will be so much better!

Shakira!! What a privilege to have you not only visit, but to leave such a lovely comment. Thank you so much!! I have not known Jingle for too long, but she is a shining person. Well, I’m not a “famous” songwriter, but I do love singing and such, and shall be singing and writing songs until the Lord calls me home. And I imagine I’ll keep on keeping on in heaven!! :) Hugs to YOU too.

Jeanne! Jeanne! Jeanne!! Jeanne!!! Jeanne!!!! Whoo-hoo. I was going over our summer videos with Kelly the other day and she said “MOM! I love your singing in that one, put it on your blog.” So I did. :) Okay, here’s one for ya… Who ORIGINALLY sang (and wrote) the song people associate with Tim Buckley -”Aleleuia” – Assuming you even know the tune. And sorry , I never could spell alleleuya, sorry. Total mental block. Oh, your idea of summer weather is mine to a tee!!! Maybe 73 degrees for me. Sweet — Kelly’s got that “power to weight” ratio goign on too. Totally!! She got her back handspring on trampoline 2 weeks again, and on the mat this past one. Whoo-hooo. Will video that, for sure!! Did you knew there is a place somewhere called Tippy Canoe? I kid the not!!

Momisodes!! Yes, videotaping is a skill I will for sure work on, no place but getting better to go with that! Love the vision of you in long-sleeve shirt and scarf!! Glad you got to enjoy a pleasant day.

Chris!! Do you have a steel plate in your skull too? I know mine makes me forget my name sometimes when the microwave is turned on. Remember that from Christmas Vacation? Randy Quaid said that. In fact, I think the exact quote was something like “Every time she fires up the microwave I pee my pants and forget my name.” (But he said the other p-word for pee.) :)

Caity!! Well, thanks so much! As I was saying to Dot above, my singing is so much better now than when I recorded my first songs. Whoo-hoo!! And of course, YOUR singing voice is so freaking freaking awesomely wonderful. Bathing suit- schmathing suit — I wear a full-body one now. Not! I rejoice in my body and all the wonder of it. :)

Davina!! Thanks, I sings a lot better now that I used to. It’s been a long road for me, but I THINK I CAN SING NOW!!!! Whoo-hoo!!!!! Ahhh, yes, you and your love of horse riding. That’s something I never did pick up , but love admiring others do from afar.

Sweeties, I must run away now. But I’ll be back. I must meet Jim at The 360 Bridge in 25 minutes!! This bridge…. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:PennybackerBridge.jpg

Sweet Snaggle!! Your comment has waited in limbo here. But I haz returned. How wonderful you have that performance on tape. I’m sure that these days they can slow it down with the technology available. I’d LOVE to see and hear it someday. It always has been one of my favorite songs, and America one of my favorite bands, as they must be for you to have played and sang that song. Yes, that line you quote is my favorite one in the song too! That poetry is so profound, and I just love the melody of course.

Cinderkeys!! Does your A/C/not work well?? Yes, better indeed time is still left, and as the others say, we’d miss spring if summer came fast upon us.

Tess!! You are funny too. Hope you are having fun in Chicago! I would love to experience the windy city myself some day!

Megan!! What’s filed in mysteries, is actually a mystery. :) No seriously, unexplained things. It’s one of the categories down in my sidebar, so you can click on it and see all the mysteries of my life. I shaved my legs the other day for the first time in, whoops I better leave that TMI outta this. :) Nothing like cloud-gazing for sure! In Texas I do it on an extra extra big blanket and keep watching if fire ants are paying me a visit.

Jan!! If you can’t find summer in Florida this time of year, I guess you’ll have to zip over to Hawaii for your sun? Ahhh, actually that Florida surf and sand sounds just delightful no matter the temperature. So lucky your skin does not burn. Sounds like you will be there a while?? Missing Michigan yet?? :)

Nadia!! I take with the animals. I walk with the animals. la, la,l , la, la, la, la, la… I’m a bit of a pied piper with my songs — mice, gophers, snakes, snails, puppy dogs with tails — they all flock to me.

    Sheila!! I think so!

Jeanne!!! You KNOW it!!! I’ll probably have that up in the next week or so!
