Barton_Springs_Feb_2010

Wednesday after school Kelly and a friend splished and splashed in Barton Springs in the dog area — which come to think of it — was surprisingly devoid of dogs that day.  Weird.  I guess the fowl had run off all the hounds.

The water was its year ’round 68 degrees, the air temp about 60.

The_Whole_Picture
(The whole picture.)

Both girls got soaked, of course, which tends to happen when kids say “I just wanna dip my big toe in.”

On the way back to the car both children expressed apparent dissatisfaction with some form of coldness they seemed to be experiencing.  Poor things. The other mom and I, from our dry and cozy state, offered them our sincerest deep condolences.

Golden
Later, we all feasted at the Kerby Lane Cafe. For me it was ceasar salad with chicken.  And peppermint tea.  Yummy!!

Dang, I’m hungry now as I prepare to post this, but I’m at the library and won’t get to a feeding station for at least another 50 minutes.  Boo hoo.

Is anybody else hungry??

Y’all have a glorious rest of your weekend!!  And life!!

Tammy!! Just read and commented on your last post. America is waking up. Thanks about the pix, they do look kinda dreamy to
    me.

Lynn!! Jannie ate a muffin yesterday! A “morning glory” one from Cinnabon, which wasn’t exactly fresh, but I enjoyed with a “wild” decaf at 3:00 p.m.!! Yes, the ducks were so sweet swimming back and forth. I guess that they know kids often = breadcrumbs.

    Happy day!!

Davina! Barton Springs is a place you can get lost in the beauty of every time you visit. I never tire of it,Zilker Park and the Trail, which are all connected. Ducks are cute indeed, with a wobble-wobble, wobble-wobble… :)

    J. D .!! Barton Springs is known for it’s pristine, ever-flowing water
And roaming gangs of transsexual pigeons. Hey, just checking to see if anyone ’s paying attention to my words here! :) :)

Weyrd 1!! Welcome back! My favorite breakfast munchie at Kerby are the whole wheat apple pancakes. The serving is so large I eat off them for 3 days sometimes.

Barks!! Those duckies would love to get you chasing them all up and down the stream. And we did have snow here on Tuesday! A whole inch of it landed. And we pelted snowballs at each other!

Diane AZ, as they say “a good time was had by all”. Indeed!

Talon!! Did you have those cookies! I made pb ones tonight and ate 5 or 6, lost track of my oinkiness. But they were so good, with milk!

Oh oh! Now you’ve inspired me. Tomorrow it will be pb cookies (I can taste their melt in your mouth goodness just thinking about them) and milk while watching the Olympic hockey final – yippee!

Now I’m going to get out my old recipe book and make sure I have all the ingredients on hand.

The shortbread cookies were divine! I managed to stop at two…well, the one that broke up into pieces doesn’t really count, does it? :)

Talon! I shall break cookies into pieces today and munch them in your honor and rejoice, knowing that I will be spared the calories of full unbroken cookies. Thanks for your wisdom! And enjoy your cookies.

Adrenalynn!! You back again? Whoo-hoo! You always seem to catch me reading and commenting from this iPhone, where I can’t seem to access your comment box from. Oh well, I’ll be on a Real Computer later today! And Kelly and I will both be getting our new laptops in 2 to 4 weeks, as per the prize redemption rules. Yes! !!!!!! Laptops, whoo-hoo. Texas can have warmish days in the winter, but the day before these pix were taken, it snowed an inch here!

Hello, Sarah! Welcome. Thanks for returning the visit and for the comment. I am still thinking about how cute your 2 cats are. You would LOVE Barton Springs!! A very popular spot year’round. Austin has so much beauty to offer.

Snaggle!! Nope, it was kind of an impromptu playdate, so we went to the park ill prepared for bird feeding. And normally the little snack shack where you can buy human food is open but I guess the previous day’s snow shut down the place!

Lance-Character! I thought you were one of those polar bear clubbers. I mean — not clubbing polar bears! I mean part of the club that swims this time of year in Wisconsin. Aren’t you?!?!

Adam!! Hi and welcome. So you are one of those amazing singers whose voice is so strong and perfect it can break glass ?? Amazing! :) I wish I could sing like that!

Shakira!! That was a lovely tribute to William’s birthday over there. I bet he’ll appreciate that a lot!

Daisy, lovely Daisy of the lemony-tangerine sunrise surprise and 10 happy things award… welcome and thanks for letting me crash your awesome blog and leave my silliness in your midst. I’m glad you have visited here. You’ll find us quite a harmless but wacky bunch!!

    Whoo-hoo!

I really enjoyed my blog visit and especially enjoyed the music videos, although I didn’t have time to listen to all of them. I love singing too. My range is 2 1/2 octaves and I prefer the alto and even contralto “zone” to the soprano range. It would be so cool to sing with you. Thanks so much for sharing your blog with us. :)

Hey, back again! What a cooincidence seeing me here.

Zeenat!! Yes, they had a lot of fun (until the cold factor set in.) :) Hey, did I make everyone hungry??

Mama Zen! Thanks. How do you stay so slim? You keep yourself constantly hungry on purpose? :)

Thomma Lyn!! Thanks! I think the ducks had the best time of all, swimming back and forth, playing, having a general ball.

Chris!! Your comment made me laugh! yes, I do suffer for my Funsterment crowd’s every need. :)

Sami!! Yes, “exploring” was a great word to choose. Shana and Kelly were born adventurers, much to her mom’s and my chagrin sometimes! :)

Timethief!! How awesome to see you here. I bet wit your also and my soprano we would so shine!! Thanks for listening to some of my tunes. I feel comfortable with 2 vocal octaves.

Ching Ya!! Yes, Austin is so filled with beauty, I feel incredibly lucky each and every day to live here, in “A city within a park!” It’s by far, my favorite city in Texas!!

Shakira!! Ahhhhhh, you are welcome for my little olde visit and wishes to William!

Hilary!! I promise your spring is on it’s way! I had it expedited yesterday — any sings of spring things yet?? So are ya digging my flaming red background?? I did it up especially for John Hoff’s e-book launch today!!

Tess!! You made me Google Reed’s Lake! It seems there are more than one, but I’m sure the one you are speaking of is very beautiful. I hope your day “smells” awesome — but I already know that — you make the most of every minute.

Jeanne!! I know, ain’t I just the picture of ultimate mothering sympathy!? :) :)

Oh that looked like fun! When I was 10 or 11, my best friend and I went to her grandfather’s cabin for a long weekend. He lived on 50 acres of wooded land, and there was a creek with three (3!!) waterfalls that we used to play in. We even camped by ourselves out there one of the nights, dug a pit toilet & everything. (Looking back, I barely recognize that little girl… A PIT TOILET? These days I don’t go anywhere without sanitized hand wipes and running water! Eh, to be young and carefree!)

Anyhow, seeing those pictures reminded me of those beautiful memories. Thank you, Jannie!

Hey,Dot, it’s still cold at night but we are certainly seeing the first lovely signs of spring, some trees starting to flower.

Sweet Jan! I’ve been thinking about you, Lady! So funny, I think about my buddies whose blogs I’ve been thinking about and then you guys appear here!! My goodness, you be careful withbthose gators, Girl! Have you seen them in the wild there!

Megan! You leave such great comments!! And always have such creative things to say. I think about my own childhood and all wild nature. Swimming in the Bay of Chaleur in late May, only weeks after the ice has bergs have floated off. Sleeping in the barn in summer. Staying out from sunrise, to sunset. Not much hand-washing involved at all!!
