The Park Bench Plot Thickens
I took this picture a few hours ago. Can you believe this picture shows the same bench, last early October?
Pretty radical, eh??
I plan to go back to my trail bench today around 5:00, relax on it with a decaf and a donut, and take a pic from it, to show you the other side of the tale. The sun has to be just perfect, of course!! Lighting is all, don’t you think? How much attention do you pay to lighting in photos?
Tomorrow I’ll post the one I’ll be taking later today! God willing, of course.
You gonna like it. A lot! (I think.) (I hope!) ? :) (and why the heck has my second smiley face gone awry?)
Whoo-hoo!!

For a moment those rectangular objects in the background looked like rice paddies to me and I thought “wow, where’s Jannie? Is she on the Southeast Asian leg of her world tour?”

Hey Guys!! I just put up my Spring Break Bonanza button in the side bar! Y’all see it? Gonna be a very fun week here next week, guys!! SEVEN WHOLE DAYS OF PRIZES!!
Paige!! Yes, the donut — you bet!!! Hope the stores are not all sold out.
It’s now 3:44 and I must leave in 45 minutes to accomplish my mission!
Vered!! I supsrisingly have not been craving them much lately at all. What have I been craving? It was keylime pie the other night.
Anthony — I hope I don’t let you down!!
And if it’s not raining, I won’t. It rained a bit here earlier. iPhones and water do not mix well. However, I do have a Photo Plan B set to go!
J.D. !! Mad Jannie — that’s me.
I’ll be sure to get “the greening” shot too. And a late autumn / early winter one too, if it looks interesting.
Chris!! Jannie way far far away on tour.

Talon!! I wish you could too! Today is aobut 23 C, I think. I’m going to eat a hotdog before my donut, tho! Else I might trigger a bit of a headache with a sugar snack. Better safe than sorry!!
And I off I go — I am actually going to get a bit dressed up quite nicely as it’s Kelly mother-Student school thing tonight. Last week was Father-Student.
Tally-hoo!!

Is there room on the bench for two? Can ya bring an extra donut??
I just read your contest stuff. OMG I never finished reading twitter for dummies. You probably read it 10 times. Yikes no wonder I don’t compare to you on Alexa!

I like the picture comparison and will look forward to gazing upon the different light. Right now I am having trouble focusing when the sun is shining. No problem, because we have even had a bit of snow today…ah the joy of spring and all her changes.
I am going to have a piece of gum to get the thought of donuts out of my head….
Smiley’s seem to have their own life in the blog world – at least that has been my observation

I am all lighting in pics. I always prefer natural light, and if it’s cloudy, I tend to leave my camera inside.
I just love the sunshine in this photo.

Cool comparison! Good to see what you have to look forward to. I love all the green in the other one. I’m so looking forward to that. Yes, I think lighting makes a world of difference in photos too. Tricky business getting it just right, I think.

William! How sweet it is indeed to sift through the seasons of my bench. I hoe in the springtime, I hoe in July, I hoe in the fall and when the snow does fly.
Tess, Tess, Tess… there is alway room for you on whatever bench upon which I sit. And I’ll always bring extra donuts for you. Tess, your posts are so good you should really be submitting to Zen Habits and those big blogs. Guest posting is steh big rage these days it seems. You’d leave me in your Alexa dust very quickly! (I haven’t finished reading Twitter For Dummies yet, either!!)
Patricia! I got the other pix! I took them at 5:15. So you’ll see what I see as I sit on the bench. Gum, eh? What brand you chewing? Yeah, that smiley is a real weird thing. Will this one work??
Sheila!! Girl, you beat me over here again. You’ve been so on my mind, wondering what’s up in your neck of the woods. And tomorrow you get to see the view as I sit upon the bench! Whoo-hoo!!!!!
Lynn!! Awry is an especially great word for anyone possessing a wry sense of humor too. Ah, hee-hee-hee-hee!
Momisodes!! Another light believer. Me too on loving natural light. Of course I’ve only got the iPhone for pix now, and that little devil can be tricky, but I’m usually okay with it in sunlight.
Daisy!! How sweet to see you again so soon! I have been a bit of a busy-bee poster lately. I was just telling Momisides about photo lighting. I can’t wait until I get my good camera in a month or 2, to get back to really great photos again!!

Jannie, what a wonderful place to go and rest and be – or get inspired! Do you take a notebook when you go and write down ideas?
Personally, I am drawn to the original picture. I love trees and bushes, even to overflowing. Perhaps it’s from living in the tropics now, everything is so lush here and it feels like I am enfolded in some sort of ambient womb. The only thing that might be missing is the sound of some water gently running through. (wink)
Enjoy your little piece of paradise.

Hi Jannie! I love that bench – well WHERE it is! Can’t wait to see the next photo. I personally think lighting can make/break the impact of any photo. And the same goes for a painting. Learning to get the light just right has kept me at my easel for years!

From late Fall 2009, to mid winter 2010, that old bench looks like a clone of itself. The leaves on the lush trees there in the park make all the shadows roundish and soft edged. The stark bare trees of Texas winter create geometric diagrams across the rock walls suddenly more visible since the greenery is gone for now. Yes, one has to look thrice, cuz it almost looks like you moved the damn bench to two separate spots just to mess with we Funsters. You have a good eye, Miss J., a photographer’s eye, and a poet’s sensitivity, and a clown’s levity and sadness in equal portions.

Lighting makes such a difference. I’d love to learn more about photography. I know when a photo is good, but I don’t know exactly how I did it. So many cool things to learn in this life. I hope I don’t run out of time… I still need to learn to tap dance and play the drums.
Your bench and setting are inspiring! Just. Like. You! XO

Hello Faizal!! Welcome to Fusnterment Land. Made ya look twice, eh to see if it was indeed the same place? It is amazing how all the foliage grown in transforms My bench!
Snaggle!! The lush life is lovely, but hot, of course. Luckily our trail offers much shade as I amble in love along it. Hmmmn, what indeed could one see from My bench?? After I post this comment I’ll get that post together!
Noha! Hi! I haven’t forgotten you! Far from it. I’ve been working hard to get some give-away posts ready for next week, Spring Break, also the week I shall be diving deep deepd into the Songwriting Zone!! Thanks for the awards!! See you soon.
Jan!! I always have my iPhone on me, to record ideas on the voice recorder feature. I do sing there a lot! And walk and sing a lot at the same time too!
You are so lucky to be in Florida, in your tropical ambient womb! You could always carry around a small fountain to get that water-trickling sound.
Suzen!! Not being a painter myself, I have long been in awe of what you guys do. I never even considered the lighting aspect of it, but yes, you’d have to work that in too. Amazing!! And I totally agree with you on the impact of lighting on photos — to catch that magic is all.
Glenn!! What can I say to your mini-masterpiece of a comment? Except tell you I enjoyed the pictures your words painted. And what will life be like when I have an excellent camera one day?? I’l fairly fly off the planet, I think.
And off I goes to my day of fun and games!!

Chris!! My friend actually takes tap dance lessons, and she is all grown up. Never too late for anything. Drums?? Really? I’d love to learn those too. But I think I’ll keep working away at my guitar. Good to see you again, Sweetie. You are on my mind a lot of course — funny how that will happen with sweet friends!

Hi Jannie .. two benches .. two lots of memories – the rich wealth of a working summer – profusion of shrubs, branches, grasses and trees working their riot of green – before rest descends. Spring – what’s ahead .. what’s going to flourish in this year ahead .. what dreams are we laying down to burst forth and develop that profusion of our lives. Love them .. just going to check your donut!
