If You’re Going To Sherwood Forest…
Friends, Just Good Stuff | Posted by Jannie on 19 March 2010 @ 6:22 PM 44 Comments
Have you ever been to a Renaissance Faire?
We went to our first one on Sunday and it was a total blast!
All those “way-before-quadrophonic” [Jimmy Buffet "You Had To Be There" ]
Lords and Ladies leaping and laughing through the lilies with lances and such.
Wizards and wenches. Robin Hood saving the day.
Lots of men in tights! (Like the one in the background in the top photo!)
But the best part was by far — Kalyani Creations!!!!!
Remember Kalyani – my fuzzy pants-conjuring friend who sang back-up for me in these videos?
Remember her buttocks!!!
Yeah, that’s her, the gorgeous brunette. (The taller gorgeous brunette.)
The smaller gorgeous brunette is one of Kelly’s best friends, Erika.
Kalyani is peddling her fine fuzzy wares for the next 3 weekends at our first annual Sherwood Forest Renaissance Festival! She’s got razzle-dazzles of cute fuzzy apparel for guys, gals and kiddos. Pants, tube-tops, hats, skirts, tails. And more!
The faire is just 30 minutes east of Austin on Hwy 290, heading towards Houston. (A bit past Elgin.)
The next 3 Saturdays and Sundays!!
February 27th through April 4th, 2010 (six weekends)
Cash, credit, debit, and pieces of eight accepted.
Ale and food aplenty!
Super-super fun for ALL ages!
Merry minstrel men and maiden musicians abound!!
There is also Rousting & Jousting…
and this kind of stuff….
(The ride is cool – not run by electricity, but by brute man power!)
Kalyani Creations!!!
Check out Kalyani’s etsy store. She is happy to create custom wonders and send them winging across the world.
Congrats, Kalyani!! Talk about dreams in action. You are so making this happen, Woman!!! I love you sooooo much!!!!!
So, if you’re going to Sherwood Forest…. be sure to get some fuzzies for your hair. And body!
And is Ryan looking like a cute little bear-man – or what — in those pants!? Remember Ryan – our piano player??
Sweet Peeps, I am off to pour some wine!
I don’t have to pick Kelly up from gymnastics camp on this final day, because The Other Mom (Erika’s mom, actually) is getting her, whoo-hoo!!!!!!! I mean WHOO-HOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And with wine in hand, shall I now FINALLY immerse my thirstly soul in the wine of your blogs. First time in 4 days. Well, except for Katie’s The Levity Project Car Dancing Video, of course. THAT, I HAD to check in on. You Will LOVE that video!
Deep Songwriting Week went very well! I am blessed beyond compare.
And pretty-much beyond recognition!!
I am wishing you all love.
xoxo

I agree with Lance; those are cool pants that Kalyani is wearing… love her boots too. A psychic once told me I would marry a man who was Robin Hood reincarnated. Perhaps I should visit this place

Chris!! I LOVE a singing comment. Bear-skinned people there. You know I actuallysaw the Mamas and the Papas in, um, 1987? Two of the original members. No wait! One — Papa John, and his daughter in for Michelle. Exciting! And That Denny guy too!
Lance!! You would definitely look great in those pants! And maybe a matching tail and hat. With a leather vest — perfect!! Yes, put your lance away — you’re liabel to put some eyes out with that thing.
hapoy times to you too my friend. happy times!!
Davina!! Oh my goodness. The Robin Hood last week was so handsome and sweet — I think you definitely oughta consider our annual faire. Iwent ot a psychic once too, she said I lived ina hosue on a hill, would have throat thorubles (I always did get strep,) and that I would be prone to flinging my bra in the trees on winter night. Go figure that!!
Lynn!!!! I have missed YOU soooooo much!! More than you’ll ever know. But you know what? I think this week has jump started me a bit on song-focus in general. Today again I actually spent TWO WHOLE HOURS IN A ROW away from the Internet. A wonderful week, and time of work for me. Did you go to the Faire near Atlanta?
Jaymie!! It was WILD!! I wonder whny I wanted so many years to take in such a fun time?? The costumes and characters were fascinating! I especially loved the U.S. Southernly drawled Cockney accents.

Here we have King Richard’s Faire on week-ends from Labor Day to Columbus Day. I once took the kids when they were young, n got in free cus I knew Zak the Blacksmith- who’s an immigrant from Russia with no last name! Pricey tix these days running $45 bux each!
It’s a very popular thing these days. We have Ligers at ours too-
Looks like you had fun visiting Kaylani n getting fuzzy. Best of luck to her Fuzzy business in the woods this week!

Hi Jannie – We’ve got a big ole Renaissance Faire every year outside Minneapolis, too. It’s great fun! One year I was riding the elephant (yep, elephant and camel rides, huzzah!) and he ate the ornament I’d bought. The handler stuck his whole arm down the elephant’s throat to retrieve my trinket, covered in elephant drool. Ummm, thanks!
I love those pants! They’re like Wear the Wild Things Are! Yes, Lance would look great in them. You know, you can make a sort of gypsy life with Renaissance Faires. Traveling from Faire to Faire. I’ve often thought that would be fun if I was much younger. Why not? It would have been a lot better than some of the career moves I made.
On 20 March 2010 at 8:21 am Caity said,
Oh my gosh that looks like SO MUCH FUN!!! I have always wanted to go to a faire like that.

Hi Peeps!! Morning has broken, and it’s rainning — oh no, not a great day for Kalyani Creations or the Faire in general. Oh well, maybe it’ll clear up!
Teahouse!! I’m not sure if I saw that movie. I know it was popular. But I do remember the books well, reading them to my little sister when she was little. (I am 13 years her senior.)
Talon!! Well, you oughta smell the roses there, blooming wild by the water. And the way the lupines bla, bla, bla. Well, I’ve got a good start to one verse in the Nova Scotia song! Water may be a bit of a challenge to rhyme without what’s called a “conceit” (breaking the flow) but if it doesn’t work out, I’ll switch it up a bit. I do love the alliteration in wild / water. Whoo-hoo. Kicked some major song butt!!
Snag!! Wow, those $45 tickets do sound pricey. What do they include?? We paid $12 online per grown-up, and $5 per kid. But all rides and games for them were extra. And food of course. The shepherd’s pie was soooooo good!! Which reminds me, I am getting a hunger on here, and a coffee thirst this fine morning. And what the heck is a Liger??
Hilary!! All the ladies cast their upper undergarments into the pond beneath the Grand Swing! Supposed to bring good luck. It was a lovely day!! And at an unusual high of 80 for that day, quite warm, was grateful for all the shade. You must have TONS of AMAZING fayres like this over in your neck of the woods! Oh, and just so you know, not sure if you were aware… Kelly was in camp for days only, so it was not sleep-away one. Still, I had lovely long days all to myself. I dropped her at 8:00 and picked her up at 6:00. Awesome! She really loved it — she got her back-flip this week!! If I can download a decent video editing program, I’ll trim and post some recent gymnastics videos of her taken with my iPhone. Still can’t find the charger cord for my regular videocam!
Sheila!! Those pants ARE sexy!! I think a band all dressed in those would be fun!!! On the cover of Rolling Stone, baby! When my next songs make it big, and I’m famous!! Fuzzy us on the cover — oh yeah!!
Oh shoot, BB is still horizontal there in his pic! I AM a bit silly, am’nt I!!
Betsy!! I picture you as the Fortune Teller at a gypsy faire!! Or maybe a tart, or body scrub seller? Selling tarts I mean –not that you ARE a tart!
There are some folks yes, like buskers, who travel the world constantly at these festivals. And the costumes can be soooo expensive, I’m learning. I think I should buy and send Lance a pair of those, yes!! What color or design do you think for him?
