A recent Before and After of our kitchen bulletin board, beginning with The After….

bulletin_board_AFTER_brighter

and exposing The Before…

bulletin_board_before

OMG, that’s hideous!! Quick — put The After back!!!

bulletin_board_AFTER_brighter

Ahhh, thanks, Universe.

See?  I took y’alls advice to whip up a collage of some of Kelly’s art!

Uh-oh, I’m writing y’all again, y’all.  :)

Anyway….

Just a 5-minute collage job on my part.  I’ll probably re-do it with less pieces, so it can breathe better.  Yep, I’ll get right on that.  Today!  (Or in 5 years.)  :)

Wait!! I’ll be brave and confess The Whole Sordid Before, with 3 years of life overflowing since I pinned the first picture, calendar, memo, medal – or whatever it was I first pinned there during some now-forgotten organizational tizzy.

bulletin_board_before_long

Okay — you know what’s coming again next, right??!  THE AFTER!!  QUICK!!!!!

bulletin_board_AFTER_brighter

Ahhhhhh.

It was time, People.  It was time.

Kinda like how I’m getting really really close to slopping that Kilz over her old bedroom wallpaper

You know how I try not to leap into these major life decisions!    ;)

And… a closer-up of Kelly’s newest piece. Some fancy foil work she brought home last week from school. Her own design, as are all these.

Foil_Funster

Pretty fun,  huh??

And how’s YOUR bulletin board??    :)

(Hey, why the hell heck did that last smiley face go awry?!?)

With Love, From Jannie the Funstress

That looks good! Nice artwork placement. Good job.

I do not have a bulletin board, but have been using my refrigerator as a catch-all for photographs, business cards, just everything – held up with magnets. I had to take it all down because I was having some work done in the kitchen and just adore the way the fridge looks bare. I am thinking of leaving it that way, because the room looks bigger now. :)

Lynn!! You have totally given me another great post idea — our fridge before and after, thank you!!! Ours used to be such a white expanse of uncluttered beauty and now is laden with maybe 40 pictures, and all kinds of mismatched magnets. I do like the clean open big effect from having nothing on it you speak of. Maybe get ours back that way, and keep it so! Thanks Sweetie!

My grandson’s first year photo, my granddaughter who is now turning 16…well the photo of her is when she was sooooo
sweet and she has on a pink tutu a crazy necklace and shiny black shoes.
The last photo of my mom before she went into a care home.
A wedding photo of 1 daughter and a bunch of tidbits I don’t want to lose. Enough to make the entire thing messy.
Tess the mess wouldn’t have it any other way;)

    resembles your “before” (yikes, huh!!!)

Oh…except…I have a couple things about me on there, amongst all the kid stuff (how does my wife get left off of there, anyway???).

Cut from the pages of Sports Illustrated:
“Sportsman of the Year: Lance” (somehow they cut off my last name.
    – and –
“SuperMan: The Unbeatable Lance” (I can’t believe it: twice now they have cut off my last name!!!)

(does it sound like I have issues?????) (most of my family would agree with that statement!!!!)

    Sports Illustrated, though….okay they know!!!!

(wow, is this all about ME, or what?!?!?!?)

    Kelly’s artwork is incredible!!
(”SuperGirl: The Incredible Kelly”) –> coming to a magazine near you soon!!!

    Goooooood morning, Universe!!!

Luisa!! Hey, great to see you again so soon. You beat me back here before I could enter your realm again Thanks on teh compliment! you really think it looks good?? Seriously??? You’re not joking??? Who-hooo!! ;)

LLCoolJoe!! Yes, sometimes just a little improvement can be a big pick-me-up. Took 3 years to get the board in that mess, 5 minutes to whip it all down and into a box, and 5 more mins to get it looking cute. Why’d I wait so long??? And I’ll tell her you like her foil work! :)

William!! Yes, a world of difference getting rid of that clutter. Like a breath of fresh spring air each time I pass and see it! :)

Paige!! My one and only Paige!!! Did you get your award from my last post, you poet you!!? Kelly ’splained me the process of the foil piece but it went on one ear of mine and right out the other!! You and she would have a right wonderful time creating together, you artistes you — while I serenade you with wedgie tunes. ;)

Tess (the NON mess in my books) your bulletin board sounds DIVINE!! I love those little girl dress-up up pix. 16 year old!!! What a wonderful age. Does she look like you?? btw, Megan says you’re a hoot from the first hello to the last see ya later hug. ;) Can’t waiat to meet ya.

Dorothy who loves Carly Simon, and who is not so vain she thinks this comment is about her. But this comment IS about YOU!! Thanks! :)

Caity!! Sweet Caity — thanks a bunch!! I love here stuff too (obviously) :) I want to buy here some more blank canvases, and new paints for the lovely easel set her dad bought her a few years ago.

Jingle!! Oh, I would LOVE to see your kids’ artworks!! With you being so color choosy, I bet it is dazzling. I just LOVE art!! Want to fly off to New York, Paris or Florence and spend my days there in galleries!!! YOU rock too. You rock A LOT!!!!! :)

Talon!! Thanks, Sweetie. What do you write on your chalk board? Recipes? Sketches of the dogs and cats? To-do lists?? Poems?? !! :)

    Jannie!!

Lance!! How could anyone around you not make everything ALL about you — you shining star, you?? You do tend to eclipse things, in the very best way possible!! :) But I think there should at least be one picture of lovely Lora on your bulletin board! :) Great place to pin up mismatched socks too, I say — have them completely visible should those mates turn up!! :)

Hilary!! Yes, my New basket Weave header!!! Whoo-hoo. I’ve downloaded a free trial of Corel PaintShopProSX3 (14 days left on that) and am having a right good hoot experimenting with it. I will most likely buy it and its’ video editing package when the time’s up. Or… should I try the Photoshop free trial too — and compare?? Probably should compare the two. Apparently there is a smaller Adobe Photoshop than the massive one to buy. I want to start getting “all fancy” with my graphics — but tastefully so, I hope! :) Now Hilary — has this post inspired you to chuck your mish-mash NB, or were you thinking of doing it anyway??? :)

Sheila!! I got your cd order — thaks soooo much you sweetie. I did not ship it yet (bad Jannie) ;) but will throw in a littls something extra for the wait. Wanna get over to your blog soon! And will. Kelly has her martial arts this a.m. and as soon as I post this, I must wash my hair and get going!!

Jewel!! Ahhhh, Thank you — I know your girls are very talented too, like THEIR mama!!! Tough one about your 14-year-old’s knee. Poor sweetie. But as I say, there will be silver linings in the experience. :) take care, Sweetie!!!

Anne!! Actually I just put my new header up last night about 10:00! For details on it, please see comment above to Hilary about the new header and Paint ShopPro. Im having sooooo much fun with the whole thing graphics thing!! It’s relaly goign to open up this blog to some graet new adventures, I think!! :)

Mama Zen!! I still smile over your comment on my post I linked to… that you laminate your favorites and “tearfully pitch the rest.” :) You CRACK me up — but you alrady know that, I do believe!! :) And PLEASE take a pictures if yo udo a collage, so all us nosey ones can see — okay?????

Kelly’s latest Art piece is amazing. I love the colours and the shapes. It’s very vivid, and it’s wonderful to see her expressing herself in her own true form.

For your viewing pleasure and because I felt like sharing, I have uploaded a picture of my own bulletin board, which is in my Art studio.

Jannie, yes it was time and I’m proud of you for being able to scale down. You have almost as artistic flair at arranging as Kelly does at creating!

Personally, I’m trying to think of creative uses for baby teeth and small socks. It seems that when they turn 13 (as mine has) that it is a little easier to stop being sentimental. At this point, you are ready to pack up those childhood mementos and any clothes they have left that fit and kick them out, attitudes and all. But maybe that’s just me :)

Jingle!! I noticed that too yesterday!! Very quiet in the blogosphere. I think everyone was out enjoying a gorgeous spring day?? :)

Renee!! OMG, he’s THIRTEEN!! Don’t feel bad, I’ve had moments when I was ready to send mine packing too!! :) baby teeth? Grind them up and sprinkle them on your garden. Thanks, Renee. I loves arranging!! I try ot thnk in 3s, and triangles, and that our eye falls natually at the 1/3 point on a line. But a ‘course you already know that — you Real Artiste, you!! SO great to see you here, your visits always a joy.

Vikum!! Well, my ex mother-in-law did say “Well, at least she’s lots of fun.” That was 24 years ago. And they called me “jolly” in Grade 8, so I guess I kind of came this way. :)

Snag!! I totally agree mess is much more interesting. I’d like to get a Really Big bulletin board, maybe 3′ by 4′ and mix all the things back in with wild care. I think this one pictured is about 20″ by 30″. Good choice,Santa for a permanent magnet. I took our Christmas lights downd 2 days ago!! I’d put them up maybe 3 years ago, and now with the work our front it was time to rearrange them. I do have one Christmas decoration I keep up all the time.

And I did not realize Corel and Jasc BOTH made Paint Shop Pros. Hmmn, actually after i post this I think I’ll go to Adobe and see about free trials.

Megan!! Hello, Sweet lady! I told Kelly what you said about her art and she thanks you muchly. She wants to paint one for you, so just send your mailing address, please, see my Contact page. Do you have any color preferences?? She was so sweet the other day — donated one of her new paintings to her classroom! Kelly got her talent from my sister I do believe — they are two peas in a painting pod. Do you paint? Or sketch?

Sara!! Are you feeling better? I sure hope you are all mended or close to it. I had left a comment on your ultra cute squirrel-on-the-fence post, then read your more recent one to hear you had been feeling under the weather. Yes, I guess there is a certain charm in the mishmash of family love and life In The before. I was just so tired of looking at the clutter. I’ve allowed a fair bit of that to hang out here — especially since I started blogging. :) (Okay — and before too, but I blame that on the constant remodeling.) :)

Jingle!! I am smiling at the Grand Sparkling Piano Award on yur site!! It is lovely. I may have to admire it from afar, tho, because I’ve tried that flash on this blog before and it totally slowed up my blog’s performance, some code thingy or another. I do thank you, tho. You are awfully sweet and nice to me. hope you’ve had a great day!! See you soon.

Liara!! Vibrant, that is a lovely word. I enjoy her colors very much. And the wallpaper of love and light she has decorated our home with. The one on the upper left corner was Jim’s Father’s Day card in 2009. It was done by some sun exposure process over flower petals.

Fatibony!! I know what you mean on the refrigetator. Ours was so white and pristine one time, then a photo or two got on, them maybe 40. I have this grande idea that someday I shall have our whole hallway as one grande collage. Perhaps! :) However it goes, it is all beautiful.

I made some great points too, plus some funny stuff. I loved the comment response to Fatibony. What is a “refrigetator”? I praised BB for his astute assessment of Kelly’s talent, saying further she be a Kelly Frollock, or a Kelly de Fooning, or a Kellio Peekossio. I think I mentioned that Jannie is president, governor, mayor, princess, and queen of Funsterville, Funsterland.
And I talked about all the pics on our refrigetator, and how our cat takes swipes at the magnets, and the pics end up under furniture. So there. I will try again to post this.

Hello Jannie, I don’t live in Texas, I did years ago when my husband was in the Air Force, and we lived in San Antonio. A lot of people are curious about me. LOL I am a very simple person who was born and reared in North Carolina. My mother raised ten children by herself on a tobacco farm, five boys and five girls. I have lost all but one brother to cancer, and my oldest sister and I just won the battle of cancer. My sister has been cancer free two years, and I have been cancer free one and a half years. My mother also has gone on to be with the Lord. Although she had breast cancer, she died of kidney failure. My husband is retired from the Air Force and we have lived in Florida 27 years. We live in a town call Deland. You asked me about the tornado, it has been four years since a category 4 tornado took my home and all my material things, but my family and I are very blessed because none of us was hurt. We are so thankful God’s angels held us in their arms and protected us. God spared what is important to me, my grandkids, Donna, my daughter and Mother of my two grandkids, my husband, and me, and I praise Him everyday for it. Things can be replaced, but my family can’t so I feel so very blessed. I hope I haven’t bore you. LOL I have written a book about my siblings and I growing up, and I also wrote it in story poem form, but I have not published it yet.

Gypsy, who has wandered here from the stars — thank you! And what an interesting and pretty gravatar! Is it a map??

William, who alights like a shining good night of old — thank you very much!! You are a sweet and special friend indeed!
