Oh, My Wonderful (House Remodeling) Heck — Part One

Oh_My_Wonderful_heck_1

So, above was about 20 minutes ago.

And below was about 3 months ago.

Temporary _Upheaval

Same basic spot? Yep!

3 months ago I stood in our old front doorway to take the photo, but this window is now where that door was, so I can’t back up far enough now to get as wide a shot.

More “after” angles shall be revealed!

(Eventually.)

Remember how we had 2 front doors for so many years?  Maybe “Oh, My Wonderful… Part Two” will show how we now have just ONE front door!

Or maybe not. There will be tons more “Oh, My Wonderfuls…” here in the coming weeks, years and decades — you never know which one you will see next.

(All interwoven with my other usual shenannigans, of course.)

Like this…

pink_toe_nails

My toes about 21 minutes ago.

Bet you weren’t expecting that picture next, eh??

:)

(I did the basic pink, and Kelly put a coat of sparkles on top.)

Lane, you make me laugh! I almost think you feel bad about giving me your honest gem of input on my song lyrics in the last post? :) I have been to SO MANY song critiques over the years, I expect to have my work fully and resoundingly BASHED every time — and every time I usually do experience that. But I LOVE it. LIVE for it!! And EXPECT it, because my friends ALWAYS pick up on things I never would have. And my songs are always better, or the next song will be, for the input. YOURS was a very valid point about the sunset dancing, a whirling twirling tangerine of softness fading.

I’ll Photoshop that toe sparkle back just a hair — thanks!! I too had noticed it and thought I could get around it, but… you of very keen eyes have kept me honest. :) :)

Seriously. I want to live in your house. I wish we could have that much personality and whimsical relaxation in our cookie-cutter area, but…it’s cookie-cutter (and we h*te it). Didn’t expect the toes. Hoping they weren’t being remodeled too….

Hey, Dorothy, there certainly can be some twists and turns in remodeling, and have been for us over these 17 years, but I think overall it’s shaping up for us. And I’m loving the look now that I’m seeing the light at the tunnel. About a year ago there were decidedly 12 unfinished sections to this house, now we’re down to maybe 6!

Hey, Mia, Sweet Mia. Well… it IS shaping up (FINALLY!!!) Believe me, I’ve spent at LOT of the past 17 years dreaming of a sweet little cookie-cutter FINISHED home. Grass is always greener, eh? :) But I guess I have to hand it to Jim — it’s turning out plenty cute. Finally polished the toes. (It had been been over 6 months since the last doing-up, but don’t tell anyone, okay?) Thanks!!

Hey, Davina!! Did you do YOUR toes?? ;) Thanks, we are starting to enjoy the house now that it’s getting closer to done. But what will we DO with ourselves then? Oh, I know! I’ll keep blogging and songing and Jim can have time again for his model railroad buildings!!

Hey, Chris!! How did you know that on the way home from Staples today I was thinking I’ve yet to get over and listen to your new songs, and making a mental note to listen later today? And I just knew I’d get over to your blog before you got back here. But no — you raced me. Again! The wall — it houses our alligators. Just kidding! It’s part of a drainage thing. Our house was getting flooded in heavy rains. But all’s well now! Jim did an Awesome job.

I agree with Mia, and maybe a busload of Funsters could arrive in Austin some winter, fleeing the cold, escaping to TX, and then you could put up like 27 of us, putting some in Kelly’s tree house, of course. You might could buy some Army surplus tents, and we could have our own Funstersance Fair, invite in the public, have a big-assed Texas BBQ, cook up several hogs and a cow, and 105 chickens (no rabbits please), get your band over for live music, invite all of Kelly’s classmates and their parents, invite all the employees down at Jim’ Car Barn, and just have a hell of a hootenanny!

Nice work on the homefront!! Does Jim paint his toes, too?? Is pink his favorite color? For the record, my kids won’t go near my toes….

P.S. I LIKE the stripes on Kelly’s cast – are those colors meaningful??

    So, I’m back!

    You notice me?

Hey, Snaggle — you’re at bat! You mean the stones you walk on, or the ones aon the walls. The wall ones on the new part are actually fake. Man-made. Yep, gonna keep my the-toes prettified this summer, for the most part. Might go for hot pink next time! :)

Hey, Lance — Jim does yes indeed paint his toes, but only as a result of slappping the green on the shutters too fast. At the moment I should take the dremel saw to his nails. Um, those cast stripes — we’ve hears they are Florida gators colors. She really wanted yellow and blue to match my eye gravatar but they were all out of yellow. Maybe this Thursday when she goes back to get another cast on!

Hey Lynnie-Lynn-Lynn. Well, maybe when I get my kick-butt camera I’ll take all-new photos of the finished areas, and submit them to S. L. with the befores! Or Architectural Digest? Or House Remodeling? Yep! That would be good to consider, for sure.

Hey, Mrs. Ott! Super you dropped by again!! Lane always cracks me UP, his sense of humor is just so wacky and fun. He’s a talented all-’round guy — music and wood-working too. It’s fun to know him. Are you doing soem house remodeling too?

Hey, Mrs 4444. LOVE your numbers, 4444. Did you know I was born 04/04? Yep! Ahhh, Sheila is SUCH A SWEETIE!!!!! So glad you popped over here from her place. Isn’t she a hoot? I just LOVE her blog. How old is your daughter? Quite young I am guessing, as to painting her dad’s toenails. LOL.

Cindy!! New windows are exciting. Just love all kinds of home improvements. And I smiled at you saying this was “fast,” I guess for this particular part — yu are absolutley correct! :) :)

Hey – no starry starry night any more .. slimline stripes .. and what a man Jim is .. to do all that work for you .. while your daughter falls off her perch & has to waste his time in hospital while she gets her arm into a coathanger sling … and his wife spends her time tarting up her tootsies … still I guess you need to do that as you’ve no shoes to wear??!!

Seriously it looks great .. lucky girl having that man around – it looks very smart .. & a cool side of the house to rest in out of the sun ..

Have a lovely week .. ice cream weather .. here to – til tomorrow when they tell us the temp’s going to drop 12 deg – that’s like living on a continent .. not our gentle weather .. glad the toes are painted – one job done! Hils

Good heavens, that looks EPIC! I can’t even be bothered to move my shoes away from the door let alone remodel the place! Yup, I trip on ‘em and break my face every time, but I REFUSE TO LEARN!

Fine twinkling toes you have there, if I may be so bold. I think wifey will be jealous, although I do think her toes twinkle with a certain vim that you just can’t get anywhere else (no offense!). I’m looking at my toes now and thinking that they’re actually my best feature.

    Is that unmanly?

Yep, Hilary, stars all put to bed for a while. And the new stripes are still up! Tho, I have my eye on some cool-looking daisies, yellow on blue. :) It really is a nice shady spot, yes. Great for impatiens in this hot hot climate. I had some ice cream last night! Haagen Dazs, coffee. So tasty! Did you get those cooler temps?

Tony!! Epic?? Oy, I’ll say. Some people think one end of our house is actually the neighbor’s, it’s sprawled out so much. :) Well, a bit bigger than the original cottage. I like a man who thinks his wife’s toes are the best-looking on the planet! :) Or his own toes!!

Hey Vikum! Welcome back ! I’ve been thinking about you. I so wish I had more time to get around to more blogs, but such is my life these days. :) Hope I get over to you soon!!!! So, I surprised you with my new cute pink toes, eh?? I’ve done my job well. :) The bench seat is waiting for you!! :)

Hey, Ana! I am pretty darn good, thanks! How are YOU?? I’m at the library, having played a piano duet with Kelly a while ago for her school spring concert. And after I answer these few comments I shall be off for lunch — something yummy, maybe noodles with veggies. And Kelly wants a slice of pie later! :) Well, I had planted 4 small trees called “crepe myrtles” n 1994, and as part of our drainage system out front (our house is at the bottom of a little slope,) last year Jim built basically a giant planter box to hold and slough off some water. The trees are now further under ground but seem very happy! You will get to see pictures of all I’m speaking of in future posts! You’re sticking around Funsterland for many years to come, I hope?? I’m 46 now, and will probably have this blog for at least another 50 years?! :) I’ll see you soon on your blog,I hope. I’ve not had as much time for blog reading lately as I would love.
