I’ve been waiting 2 years for this post.
Two years, People! (Because it’s a trio photo thing, as you’ll see.)
An exciting time Chez Funster, as next Friday Kelly graduates from “Little” Elementary to “Big” Elementary at her school.
Yes! Our angel will swoop under the time-honored “Arch of Life” as we celebrate the Pre-K kids moving up to Little El, the Little Els moving up to Big El, and the Big Els moving on to new schools.
It’ll be fun!
It’ll be GRRRREAT!!!
We’ll laugh.
I’ll cry.

Kelly’s just finished her “Golden Year” of Grade 3 — having spent grades 1, 2 and 3 with some wonderfully amazing teachers and friends! (At her school they have 3 grade levels combined in the same classroom.)
In the “Big El” classroom, she will complete grades 4, 5 and 6. Then move on to a new school here in Austin. (If we haven’t moved back to Canada first.)
Actually, having been born here — Kelly will be moving “to” Canada. For Jim and me it will be moving back.
(Grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 — that’s First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth & Sixth Grades for all you Yanks, from this born-n-bred Canuck.
Can you figure out which 2 teachers she had for two years each, you lovely Sherlock people, you??
Remember Sherlock Hemlock from Sesame Street?
But I digress.
Yep, Kelly’s finished her full 3-year cycle, people!
Whooooo-hoooooooo!
(Actually, she’s the age of someone graduating from Second Grade – but more on that in June, 2013)

She’s soooooo excited to be reuniting this coming fall with a few of the girls who had moved up to Big El!! They’re SUCH nice girls.
And it’s SUCH a nice school.
And today is SUCH a nice day.
After I post this I’ll be eating lunch, taking a bath, and having lots and lots and lots of FUN, FUN, FUN!!
Just one week of school left until 10 weeks summer vacation!!!
Life twirls on, is GRRRRREAT and…
She got her full arm cast off yesterday!!!!! Thrilled to be in a new short one! Doctor’s office yesterday with iPhone…
Free! Her elbow is free to move about again!! New cast comes off in 3 weeks, so it’ll be 6 weeks+ 6 days total casting for this particular broken bone experience.
(Last fall’s broken elbow was only in cast 20 days — luxury!)
And If we’re lucky — she’ll not break any more bones until at least after July 4th.
And just outside the hospital door as we left yesterday…
And remember ‘way up yonder I said this post has been 2 years in the waiting? What’s the longest YOU’ve ever waited to get a post together?
xoxoxoxo

I love how Kelly tilts her head in anticipation of the halo that will be forthcoming.
I figured out the teachers. Just call me Sleuth Dogg! (uh, that sounded way cooler in my head)
Kids grow up so fast. This year I have an 8th graduation. Thankfully the principal has changed and I won’t have to sit through “I Hope You’ll Dance” 20 times in a row. Once is sweet, twenty times is sharp object in ear time.

Hey Sweet Anne! What a funny observation on her tilting her head for the halo forth-coming, all 3 years!!
Hey, I actually TOTALLY knew you meant 8th grade graduation before you corrected yourself! Is it just a mom telepathy thing? 8th — that’s BIG. High school next year. And Anne, I hope YOU dance, and sing, and bake pies, and chase happy chickens all around your barn yard now and forever.
Hey Sweet Alice Audrey! She was so funny going in that grass all free and happy like that I just HAD to take a couple snaps. My funny bunny short arm cast baby growing up girl!

Hey Kelly,
Do you like your cast? Does it keep your Mom busy? Does everyone want to touch it? I’m trying to avoid them, myself… Enjoy the long weekend with no school!!!!

Hey, Mister G! Awesome to have you pop in again. Yes, I’m so pleased that she’s moving up in life.
She’s been so funny all week, since visiting the Big El class last week to learn the ropes a bit, I swear she’s more grown up!
Hey Sweet Paige!! You mean you’re still waiting to compose a wonderful post?? I bet you are! Your posts have a lot of great stuff in ‘em, those take time. And hey — so excited about the renactment of our first meeting coming up this weekend, with no mountain, and probably no wind.
Oh, BB is actually older than kindergarden age, but he feels bad he never got any Formal Education, so at his ripe old age he will “audit” a K class one morning a week this coming year. He learned to read and write from a friendly gnome who used to hang out in the garden where he grew up.
Sunday — babe!! Whooo-hoooooooo!!!!!
My Sweet Natalia! Two years IS a long time. And I’ll have another triptych coming up in mid-June for her VBS group photo. Then, no more 2-year posts, just one 10-year one!
Yeah, it’s all pretttttty cool stuff! Can’t wait for summer hours. Currently I wake at 6:30 and go to bed by about 10:00. Gonna go nuts all summer — go to bed at midnight, and sleep in until 10:00. WHOO-HOOOOO!!!!
Hey, Sweet Talon — this is a very very good time for us. Bone is healing well, in a big lump but that’s the way. Doc says she’ll be all straight-armed again in 6 months. And YAY for Talons!! Except there is only ONE Talon, and evershall and evercould be, since you are so super-special and all!!
Hey — Lancie!! Yep, middle school here goes from 6th to 8th too! Since Kelly’s school is not the norm, she can either stay for 6th, or dive into public school then. Ahhh, your youngest is growing up! Y’all need another baby now!!!!!
Let me go ask Kelly, and I’ll write down her answers for you. Wait!! I’ll ask her tomorrow, videotape her answers and put it up in a post! Sound good??
Hey Sean! Yep, high school graduation, then college if she wants to go that route, then her many feats, then her wedding if she wants to go that route, then about the 12 grand-kids she’s gonna give me!
Hey, Jingle!! You mean Blue Bunny with his new flag is cute, right?? He just HAD to get dressed up for this Memorial Day Weekend! And who am I to refuse him??

Seeing these pictures reminds me of picture days in public school. There was always one or two kids who made a face. These little ones all look pretty well behaved. Think you’ll need more halos.

Congratulations to all of you! What a great accomplishment — graduation from little to big elementary school AND getting a shorter cast. Awesome! I had a full-arm cast for my broken wrist when I was in the 6th grade. Broke my wrist rollerskating. Mom told me not to go… but I went. Wore her down and finally got a “yes” answer. Two hours later, she received the call, “Uh, Ms. Bord, your daughter had a little accident.” EGADS! Those casts itch, too, so I hope Kelly heals fast and FUNSTER like. Down with casts!
Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

Hey Sweet, Davina! They are ALL such angels, yes, even the one boy Kelly says is “mean” to her.
I guess he must have a crush on her!
I was looking for a way to highlight her in the 3 photos, and for some reason thought a halo might work. And after I posted this, I thought — they would look cute with halos over each child. I might do that and print out a copy to take to school Tuesday!
Hey, Sweet Snaggle — yes, less than a week now, Monday a holiday and Wednesday the 3rd year day-Trip of sailing. Yeah, that was one bright cast! It’s getting some signatures on now, tho, so the glow may soften a bit.
And I thought about the vacation, and it actually works out to be 11 weeks. That IS long, we had only 9 weeks when I was a kid. How ’bout you? Oh yes, BB likes his new cap a lot!
He want me to get him a whole collection!
Hey Sweet Cinderkeys — she is a very very special gal, and I hope I’m as good a mom to her as she is a kid to me. She is growing up and away and it’s bittersweet. But we’re off to a party at the library in an hour, so that will be some fun mom-daughter time. Big summer kick-off with games, entertainment, food, fun and such.
Hey Sweet Megan!! oh no — your mom’s worst fears came true on that. Did she ever let you roller skate again?? I know when I’ve taken Kelly I’ve cringed at how quickly one can fall, and how hard that floor is. Little angel’s doing great today! And in general. She is SUCH a trooper! And so are you!!! And you are AWESOME, in case I haven’t told you lately??
Hey Sweet Sheila — Ahhhh, the milestones. I remember you and your gratudating / and on to college girl this time last year. Big changes. Yes, that poor grumpy-looking girl, she had a tummy ache that day Kelly said. She is going on to another school and Kelly is soooo gonna miss her, they’ve been together for 3 years. But they can still see each other outside school!
Hey Lovely Lance —
I think you and Lora have done amazingly well with 3 babies!! I wish I had a sibling for Kelly. She and I have asksd Jim if we can adopt a kid, but so far — no yes or no from Jim. We’ll ask again! Oh well, it’s all good. As long as I’m being as loving as I can as I go about my daysto all I meet(and spending a few hours on spring house clean-up here today,)
life will continue to be shiny.
Have a good run?? Oh yes — CRAZY!!! Thanks a bunch for that reminder!! Yeah, look for an announcement of the Kelly Klip sometime. Now WHAT were those questions about here cast??
Hey Shining Mia! (of the fabulous posterior — I still remember that changing room bikini picture!!!)
Thanks for popping by so lovelily with your words. Now, by your “last” do you mean the Grade 1 photo, which appears last in the trio — or the top photo, of her “last” year. I think I like the top one of her best, the one with her cast on. Just so fun to see her right front / center with her cast.
Oh and “the truth of time going by.” That is a stunningly beautiful phrase, and teared-me up. Thank you. (For everything.)
Hey Wonderful Brian — you may not believe this as per me not getting over to your blog so much lately, and as per this crazy-fun-busy time of year, and as per me having about 150 blogs to catch up with…
but I’ve been thinking about you lately — how you wrote songs in the graveyard on bits of brown grocery bag paper by the light of stars with your friends.
And other tidbits from your frequently stunning poems. Yep.
Thanks for popping in!

Oh my goodness, Jannie, I’ve missed so much the past few weeks — Kelly’s poor arm!!! I’m glad kids are so resilient — I’m sure she’s bouncing right back (unlike the horrible bouncy house that dropped her!). And now she’s moving on to 4th grade… I hope she enjoys her summer — judging from the things you’ve posted about your daughter, I’m betting she won’t let a silly little thing like a cast get in the way of participating in all kinds of summer shenanigans…

Congrats to y’all. Kelly definitely goes to a different school than my nephews there in Austin. My older nephew is starting 5th grade next fall and my younger nephew is starting 1st grade… Of course they’re both quite smart, but the younger one has a linguistic gift and seems headed for some kind of gifted program. Not sure how they do that there. Maybe it will have combined grades too…

She’s doing great, thanks. Just no swimming for another while yet. And no tree climbing.

I’m making Prime Rib tomorrow night and I’ve got me a bottle of Columbia Crest Pinot ready to go. Ahh, starting 1st and 5th — moving up too!!

See — told ya I’d be back.
Earlier this morning I edited in the smiley faces on all the kids. I had not thought about potential privacy issues for the other students and their families until another blogger e-mailed me about it, so I am grateful for that tip. I had not thought about that(obviously)so the input was appreciated. Living such a non-fear-based life as I do, things like that do not occur naturally to me, so it is good to get the added perspective.
So…
Hi Daisy! Well, speaking of daisies, it’s YOUR day around here with my design tweaks, right??
Just 16 more day in her cast.
Hi Anthony! Today I am exhausted from all the end-of-year plans, but soon we’ll sleeping in every day and not worrying about getting up so early for school.
Hi Jingle! Thank you for awards, I hope I can participate soon. This is a busy time of year for us. Hope you are well.
Hi Tammy! Thanks. Yes, a big big resounding YAY on all!!
Hi Jewel! hard to miss that new cast even from outer space I think
16 more days in it! happy sweet summer to you and yours too!
Oh no — my left leg’s asleep again. I have to stop curling it up under me as I type.
Hey Suzicate! The striped shirt on class pictures day was a fluke — but it does seem to match!
Hey Dustus! Looking forward to that vacation — just 4 more days of school!
Hey J. D! How did I know YOU would be the one to comment on the Sherlock Hemlock line.
If you are speaking of those look-alikes on i can haz cheeseburger — some of those are hilarious!
Hey Trish, ahhh, it does look kinda cute, does it not??
An I LOVE the new smiley-faces too!
Hey Luisa, I was actually mistaken — it’s 11 weeks in all. A long time, hopefully filled with tons of hazy, lazy, crazy days!
Hey Patricia! Nope, she WALKED into that grass, kind of a shrubby-thing off the sidewalk.
So silly. Kids, eh? So you soon going to Atlanta?? I stayed a half year longer in college. Home-schooling in Jr High. What was that like for you?
Hey mama Zen! And I am very very curious now as to what that post could be.
Hey Hilary — and now the red stripes for Memorial Day have been replaced with daisies! I have so much fun mixing it up here.
I see a lot of Blogger blogs with all kinds of interesting custom designs. But you are going to Wordpress, right? And I hope if you have questions on that you will not hesitate to ask ME. I do not profess to be a Wordpress expert, but I’ll help you where I can. Yes, they are ALL wonderful kids and amazing teachers. (Now in smiley-faces for privacy, as I mention above.) Oh, I actually have been blogging for 24 years now but for the first 2 years w/o comments, but I had been dreaming about this post ever since I got that first class picture — trios are swell.
I have a feeling Kelly will be much more careful in th efuture, at least where it concerns bouncy castles and money bars!!
Happy day to YOU too!!
Hey, Tony… So are you like, funniest guy on the web? I think so!!
Altho it’s a close race between you, J.D. Meier and Chris Edgar for funny commenting. I read your comments here and on other sites and I crack up. Surly monster attitude comes and goes, mostly she’s my sweet angel.
