Reunited — And It Felt SO Good
Friends, Just Good Stuff | Posted by Jannie on 31 May 2010 @ 3:39 PM 32 Comments

Happy Memorial Day!! Are you all (did you all) have a good one? You doing (did) anything special?
We sure did. And are!
Yesterday we were lucky enough to hang out with Paige Von Lieber and kin!!!
Remember Paige? The one and only blogging Paige I met in the flesh for the first time last fall on our Enchanted Rock Excursion? Yes, waaaay back when my blog pictures were still a mere 500px wide, Paint Shop Pro was but a distant dream and poor little Kelly had a broken arm.
Oh wait — Kelly has a broken arm now too! I guess she saves those for Paige excursions.

This time we did not meet on a windy mountain.
We spent the day in Fredericksburg — one of Texas’ best little tourist towns, settled by Germans in 1845.
We had the privilege of touring the National Museum Of The Pacific War — associated with The Nimitz Museum just around the corner.
Admiral Nimitz – of The Nimitz Aircraft Carrier fame was born in Fredericksburg.
AWESOME museum!!! Very impressive in scope and quality of exhibits. They had at least 3 REAL WW2 warplanes, 2 tanks, an original Jeep and half a submarine in there – plus hundreds of smaller displays.
Talk about a moving Memorial Day – spent in the midst of memories of the brave ones who paid the ultimate price for the freedom I enjoy.
I was verklempt. And evershall be.
Kelly in motion – the only way you ever find her. Unless she’s under anesthetic having a broken arm set.
We ate lunch at a wonderful “Biergarten.”
I was eyeing a non-alcoholic restaurant, but my companions twisted my arm, and defeated – I slunk into that the beerful den of iniquity with them.
It was sooooooooooooooooooo great to see Paige again. It feels like we’ve been friends since childhood.
She is awesome, awesome, awesome!!!!!
When are Y’ALL gonna move your cute little butts over here to Texas so we can meet too???

Paige’s daughter is tall. I’m not, but I fake a whopping 5′7″ here, thanks to my 4″ wedge heels bought recently at Target for $23.99. Plus tax.
And those shoes are GENUINE imitation leather, I’ll have you know!!
All pix in this post Paige took yesterday (except the one of all 6 of us the waitress took.) She e-mailed them to me, I daisied ’em up with Paint Shop Pro, and here we are!
Oh, Paige e-mailed me the pix, the waitress didn’t e-mail them.
FYI, all daisies in this post are of the exact same flower, at the exact same angle — just in different sizes.)

Paige e-mailed to say HER Fredericksburg post was to be published at 3:30 today – thus I’m hitting “Publish” on this at 3:30!
Whoo-hoo!!
Zipping over to her blog now. I wonder if she went for daisies too?

We had a great time and finally made it home all in one piece, we fell into the couch and watched each other sleep or should I say the TV watched us nap. Yeah, that’s it the TV did it.
My family and friends just a bunch of flowers in a world of beauty

Hello, my beautiful beautiful people!!
Hey Sweet Suzen!! “Trying to get caught up on blogs…” The story of my life.
But it’s a beautiful, beautiful thing to have such a wonderful network of friends to be part of. I feel like the luckiest gal in the world. I lied about the shoes — they’re actually 3.75″ high. They are very comfy, plenty of arch support. I feel on top of the world on those. (But LOVE yur standing n a box idea.)
And love YOUR blog and YOU, Suzen. Your posts are always entertaining, uplifting and very very SuZen. You make me laugh.
Hey, My Wonderful Lynn! Are you back in Atlanta?! I checked your blog a couple hours ago. Can’t wait to be there bright and early in the a. of m. fr yur post. BB’s been missing you too — we’ve gotten quite attached to you indeed. Yes, it was a real thrill to be with Paige again, she is a hooty-hoot. First visit I liked her, of course, but this time if felt even more solidified. Daisies, ah yes — daisies. Remember Meg Ryan’s character in “You’ve Got Mail” saying daisies are the friendliest flower?? I do believe this post has made me agree with that.
Hey Wild & Wonderful Paige!
I wondered if you’d be sharing this with beloved. And now I know! Glad you liked it! Was fun for me. I was soooooo tired last night, but after I got home I went over to to someone else’s house fr Kelly to have a playdate for TWO hours — she was all chipper, having slept ALL the way home (as you predicted.)
But life is good here and now. I even did my dishes today.
We had a BALL. Where we meeting next??
San Francisco? Paris? Brisbane? Marfa Lights???
Hey, my wise, wonderful and witty J.D. We hadn’t actually planned on perusing the museum at all. We were thinking we’d cruise the Main Street shops, but we both had parked in that area, and there we were — swirling in the world of bygone days. I was humbled. And thinking of moving on to roses, tulips and wild columbine for future presentations.
I gotta get Kelly in the bath now. I’ll be back later.
And WILL answer the remaining comments from the past few posts too.

Kelly, my dear Kelly — THAT’s where you were when I was calling you for your bath a while ago — typing those comments. Hey, you — yes, those daisies on the beer girl do lok a bit like a fancy bra. Maybe that style will catch on?? Shall we patent it? And nope, I very carefully remove and handle my brassiere — no flinging — I promise.
Hey, my one and only Jingly Poet Lovely lady Jingle — I am good with daisies, maybe?
And hey, I would love to visit Shakira, she is a wonderful, wonderful person, like you. A real sweet lady full of wisdom and optimism. And friendship. But Jingle — how can I possibly be the best when YOU are the best??? Hmn???

I just adore the continuous bouquet of daisies on a Memorial Day exploration and eating event….and aren’t you so happy you got your toenails painted!
I got a massage this morning and so had a whole day nearly pain free….and low and behold about 2pm the sun came out unexpectedly. Hubby is training for the Seattle to Portland bike ride (204 miles) in July so he did 80 miles in the rain yesterday…Talked to all three girls on the phone – yahoo!
Also we saw the movie Robin Hood – a good legend and a good storytelling or retelling and then squeezed in a movie called I am David….very unusual but still about recovery from WWII…
Hope you have good week ahead….wish I could play with photos…that was neat

Good morning!
Hey Exquisite Talon!! Do I remember Bicycle Built For Two? Indeed I do, and I sing it almost daily, much to the chagrin of those in my near vicinity! “It won’t be a stylish marriage, I can’t afford a carriage…” Yes, the 3 of us don’t get away much together, so it was an added bonus to see Paige and her fam.
Hey Elaborately Lovely Patricia!! You know I bought my shoes because I’d done my nails, right? I still am quite sparkly on my toes! Sounds like you had a great day yesterday. I could use a massage on my left shoulder today, seems I did something weird to it in my sleep. That ever happen to you? Since I am a fan of Russell Crow I bet I’ll enjoying Robin Hood. My goodness that man is a HUNK!!!
Hey Enchanting Vered! Glad you liked the blooms and that y’all had a good one!!
Hey Captivating Hils! Yep, I’ve been toying with the Paint Pro a bit, but am probably only scratching the surface with it. And the daisies down the side are a GIF repeating background image I can change (and often do as you know) on a whim. And I like that they’re in blue!!
BB had a full tummy last night at bedtime from all the blm munching –yes.
Hey Glorious Snaggle! I guess by the time your cute little butt comes here mine will be in Nova Scotia — perhaps. Still many rains to fall and winds to blow befre that happens, but that’s the general plan. Then, Boston is but a day or so away! Jim actually wrked mst of yesterday too, as he did on New Year’s Day — that guy.
Hey Scintillating Tess!! Best months, ’cause it’s nice and cool but not too cool in Texas are November and April. Come! Stay with us!! We’ll take you to San Antonio, Wimberley, Enchanted Rock, The Oasis, Mount Bonnell, Our Texas Capital Building and our treehouse. You can sleep in the tree house! It has A/C and heating. And you’ll LOVE our running trail!!! We’ll do the prettiest 3-mile loop. When you coming?? Oh, and the donut shops– we’ll hit the BEST ones!!

Yes BB is all decked out in red ball cap with daisy print on it, waving his Memorial Day flag, and still clinging to his karrot; little critter does go
whole bunny when it comes to celebrations! Last couple of posts have been a hoot and a holler. Congrats, M. Kelly on your 3rd grade graduation, time to
move on to more complex literature, more complex math, and the mysteries of
being a young girl. Glad to hear that Mama Jannie is being very careful with her own bra, but then again it is hard to get those flung ones down off the ceiling fans, enit? How wonderful that Paige and her family met with you Funster clan, and that the WWII museums and Beergarten experiences were so
much fun. Had a very quiet Memorial Day mineself; did some journal catch-up
and watched a couple flicks. Daisies are cool, but I still love those Texas
bluebonnets, oh yeah.

I know you avoided the real leather because you didn’t want another dispute like the one Judas Priest had with PETA over their leather on-stage outfits. Ironically, Priest have been wearing artificial leather for a long time — probably taking after you. Thank you for raising awareness in the heavy metal community and elsewhere.

Loved this, Jannie. Up in Canada we don’t celebrate Memorial Day. We had our long weekend (Victoria Day) the week before… I had to work. No complaints though. I made up for it during the week with a few sleep-ins.

Hey Glenn! Now that Memorial Day is behind us, what will BB get up to? Or will he keep waving his flag for a while. Oh — he needs a bluebonnet!! But they are out of season now. Maybe a crepe myrtle, or a gardenia! So, you keep a journal, I see. You a regular journaler?
Hey Chris! My shoes, it turns out from my vast research in the past week are made from the seat upholstery from a 77 Chev Malibu. There’s a company owned by Judas Priest that recycles old cars. And used French fry grease. The latter they make into dolies for wedding cake toppers. Who’d a thunk, eh??
Hey, Sweet Trisha — I REALLY enjoyed your poem on dignity, the one I recently commented on. It was very well stated. And yes — hanging out with Paige is a trip to the fun store.
And just nice and relaxing — they’re great people.
Hey Davina — yes, I shoulda made a special announcement for you Canadians. I mean US Canadians, as I am still a Canadian citizen, one with a U.S. Green card. Have you ever celebrated Victoria Day in Victoria?? Ah ha — working for a living, that’s a good thing. And sleep-ins are an even better thing — I plan on doing a lot of sleeping late when school is done. Very soon! yay!
