Be patient ye seeker
of pansy poems.
and poems in general,
for poets are only human
and sometimes will be
found washing cars
or making coffee
or raking leaves
or mopping floors,
instead of constantly painting
angels and blazing violins onto
castle walls for you and me.
Be patient, ye seeker of
pansied summer mornings
and pansied evening boats
that drift into the harbors
of your eyes and the coves
of your deepest longings.
I once sought pansy poems too,
and poems about grand soirees
and bicycle wheels in the rain.
I wanted nothing more than to
to crawl into a good bed poem
and pull the covers up snug.
I also searched for poems
of battles I’d fought and won,
until yesterday, when I realized
the only battle is and ever
shall be within, and that love
alone will answer everything.
(end of poem)

It was 1999.
We were drinking wine.
We were celebrating our first boat and feeling fine.
Actually, it’s been our only boat. Except it’s long gone now. It got all riddled with holes from dog claws and such. Go figure.
I know it was 1999 by my tan.
I usually keep my precious complexion as white as the driven lilies.
But remember the world was supposed to end at the stroke of Y2K, due to computers all freaking out and such?
So, I figured — what the hell. If I’m gonna go out in a blaze of glory, I’ll darned well go out tanned!
I was extrememly toned back then too — I often Jazzercised twice a day in the pre-child era.
I was eating lots of red meat.
Hills of donuts.
Mountains of fries with ketchup.
And that summer I was apparently such a mystical force of nature, that flashing light formations often showed up in photos of me!!
Anyhoo…
It’s now 2010.
I’m drinking wine again.
And as far as posts go – this one’s at the end.
Except for 3 questions…
Have you ever drank wine in an inflated dinghy in your living room or had a cocktail in some other unconventional setting?
Were you worried leading up to Y2K that the world was going to end?
What do you think’s gonna happen in late 2012?
That’s all!

P.S. This room was the first addition Jim built to our house. Remember the other end of the room ?
Boogity-boo!
New Funsterment Feature!! Editing in 740 pixels of the header. Hey, BB’s mountain of fries might as well go with this post for all eternity! He does put a lot of time and effort into these headers.

Color me even crazier than usual – but today I tweaked this blog to upgrade my photos from 700 pixels wide to this all-new 740 wide!!
[My Canadian hometown, 2008. Kelly, Alyssa, nephew Austin.]
Okay, so My Amazing Camera is still a thing of the future, but what do you think of these 740 px wides??
I would be SO grateful if you could please let me know your most intimate thoughts pertaining to my new Ludicrously Wide photos.

In the poll below, please check ALL that apply.
Thank you all so very very much a lot!!!!
And feel free to leave any additional input in a comment below.

It was twilight last week.
I was a block from home and relaxation.
I was tired.
I almost paid no attention when all 3 kids in the back seat suddenly shouted “Whoa!”
But something in their voices made me tune in.
And I looked, to shout “Whoa!” at the cloud too.
I’ve never seen anything like it. Have you?
I don’t think it’s a plane’s vapor trail. I think it’s a cloud.
What could it mean?
Is it a sign?
A sign like the duck in the cockpit of the boat that wonderful blogger JoyChristin lives on?
And if so, what could the sign mean?
Cues Twilight Zone theme and reaches for more coffee…

Family | Posted by Jannie on 22 June 2010 @ 8:15 PM
What a fun family time we had on our recent mini-vacation!
Lovely hotel resort.
(Be even lovelier once they refund the hefty overcharge to our credit card.)
Overcharge aside, we enjoyed our time away.
Blue Bunny had a blast! He couldn’t get enough of Lazy River snorkeling, carrot fishing, turnip tossing and all the wild bunnies running free.
I think he may even have found a little girlfriend! Ooo, la-la.
Vacation! We figure with Jim still working so much, a 2-day trip once a month might be just the ticket! There are so many awesome places to see within 100 miles our home.
Central Texas rocks!!
How ’bout you? Any summer travel plans? Long exotic trips? Week-ends? Overnights? Day-trips?
Just taking a trip in your mind?
I am off now to do 3 things…
1. eat spaghetti.
2. drink more Merlot.
3. continue looking for an audio cassette of singing that someone nice and beautiful mailed me and I have to mail back.
Soon I shall enjoy answering all the amazingly wonderful comments you left here recently, and revel in the wine of your wonderful blogs.
With love, from Jannie
