When I Get My Amazing Camera (a poem)

kitty-ears

When I get My Amazing Camera
I’ll ease it lovingly onto my cake platter,
usher the glass dome down, and savor the ensemble
upon my Irish cotton runner in the middle of the dining

room table where I’ll sit in my kitty ears
(which all the kids agree is my best look,)
writing belated letters on fine stationery.

My Amazing Camera and I will flood this house
with twinking rainbows that will richochet outward
and off every beveled mirror from here to the Eiffel Tower.

And beyond, to ballet schools in Estonia! And Moscow! And Tokyo!!

And even further – to verandahs of raucous beer halls in Brisbane & Sydey,
where we’ll wave at all the people smiling by in boats, and they’ll wave at us.

And we’ll know we’ve reached life’s pinnacle!

(Pretty-much)

:)

When I get My Amazing Camera
golden autumn sunsets from childhood wheaten hills
will suddenly rise from the hot Texas blacktop
as my minivan — which is not really a van at all,

but a wooden sailing ship, slices up spray, full wind
full sun, full adventure towards photographic shores
still uncharted — brand new eyes capturing this garden,
this deck and the reflex blue of these wonderful walls.

In short, when I get My Amazing Camera
possibly this one, I’ll still pretty-much be me,
but with better pictures. Waaaaaay better pictures.

And won’t it be grand!

(end of poem)

Next post I’ll show you how I’m going to pay for My Amazing Camera without having to borrow a dime. Let’s just say it has something to do with this jumble below (photo taken Jan. 12, 2010.)  Jumble a direct result of clearing everything out of Kelly’s bedroom for redecorating.)

Jan_12_2010

That hanging quilt behind the jumble? A mystery lies beyond.  What could it possibly be?  Any ideas?

I’ll show you next post!

But wait — that next post is HERE! Mystery revealed!!!!!

Love, Jannie
xoxo

P.S. Kelly snapped the top photo yesterday afternoon. Both photos in this post were taken with my iPhone 3GS, and altho the lighting and color were enhanced a bit on both of them with my PaintPro program, that mommy-tummy blubber in the first pic is 100% totally unretouched mine, all mine!!

I have that same…kind of…tummy. But no mommy excuse…sigh I’m taking stuff to a garage sale today at a friend’s house…who has a garage…heh But the primary reason is to get some spending money for the summer. My extra work money is going into an AC unit and possibly new counters. Maybe I should get a new camera to take pictures!

Hey Weyrd One! garage sales can bring in some good cash. We’ve been talking about having one here for 15 years!! But none so far. We manage to cull in different ways, tho. So much stuff taht gathers over the years. Ahh, counters for your kitchen, to look just as spiffy as your new floor? And oh, my friend is without A/C at the moment, they’ve had quotes of $4000 and $5000! Ouch.

Hey Katherine!! Yes, who knows what shores I’ll land on, what mountains I’ll climb, what moonlit honwysuckled paths I shall trip down with my true loves, once I get My Amazing Camera. :) :)

Paige!! Yes, somewhere My Amazing Camera is dreaming and writing poems about me too. :) Oh, he or she shall find a good home with Jannie. Actually — the t.v is porbably one of the few things in that jumble that will stay in that place. Oh yes, dahling — don your tiara, it makes the day so much more fun.

Dear Tess Of A Very Bold & Fun Life… if you read the poem you may notice I’ve edited a bit. That’s what’s fun about writing, we can often hone and improve. You know that line in a Paul Simon song, right… “I got a Nikon camera, I like to take the photographs.” Now I’ll be Googling that line to rememeber what the song title is. Maybelline? Kodacrome? I so forget! In which case, it was actually an old song Paul sang too. Snaggletooth will know I bet! I might just have to get two identical cameras, so I can have someone photograph me taking all those amazing photographs. :) :) Silly Jannie!!

Dot!! It’s you. Awesome to see you pop in! Well, my van DOES sound like a ship’s mast and deck creaking when it goes into the turns. It really does. I don’t think I’ll ever trade in that van.

Well thanks, my Lynn. My tummy is kind of acceptable I think. ;) I was so silly — dashed on the first outfit I thought could go with the kitty ears. And voila! I’ve really was looking for my long navy gown, but I’ll have to find that in a massive clothes and 3 new closets upheavel organization. Any month now!! :) Oh, you see I’ve put up a little photo teazer in my sidebar since you left your comment?? :) you are on the right track!

Ahhhhh, Sheila — thanks. Now you know the true tummied Jannie. Depending on what time it is in my 28 cycle of joy and how much I have or have not eaten or exercised, and the tilt of my abs, I go from an almost a flat tummy to a pretty good little paunch. :) Yard sale? Nope — not really! :)

Hey LL — my doctor says that kitty pink ears are often a side-effect of eating whole strawberry cheesecakes under a full moon while marathon blogging. So not to worry. :) I was sucking my gut in a little. Or a lot. I can’t quite remember. It’s been over 24 hours now. :)

I love the look of the new camera and this poem certainly will speak highly to the camera gods to grant your request. However, the “jumble” of stuff might also be an excellent sacrifice for these same camera gods:~)

p.s. I love the kitty ears…they suit you fine and I admire your fitness and courage. I haven’t shown anyone a picture of my tummy since….hmmmm…I can’t remember:~) You look good!!!

Hey Sweet Sara!! Always a thrill to see you here! Methinks your idea of sacrificing the jumble to the camera gods is right on track. :) Me, fit? Not as much as I could be. :) Brave on showing my flubby tummy? Yes!! But what’s in a tummmy? It’s the heart of a person that matters!!

Hey Lovely Daisy! It’ll be fun, it’ll be grand. I’ll learn to know my new camera like the back of my hand. Faces and places, nature too. There’ll be no kind of wonder my camera won’t do!

Hey Wise & Wonderful Patricia! Of 10 shots Kelly took, this one was kind of acceptable in its strange sort of way. wow, IT Girl with multiple cameras! I sure hope one will do the trick for me!

Snaggle, the Great! Ain’t that a fact! The amaing learning curve for the amazing photos. i’m hoping I can just dive on in and fiddle around. Oh yeah, the cat ears are mysteriously becoming — must be the color. Selling Kelly… :)

Hey Awesome Trisha, I estimate I’ll have it in 3-4 weeks. I hope!

Dear Lovely Hilary, deepest apologies at my glaring Eastbourne / UK omission. My brain had it narrowed down to either Easbourne, Mount Fugi,The Grand Canal, and The Great Pyramid, when suddenly Syney popped in. And there it was! A penguin behind the quilt? Hmmn — close but oh so far…. :)

As a man, all I can see dearie is that tummy of yours is fine-fine, sucked in or not! But you have to be careful going out into public with that outfit. First of all, yes, there is a definite car hop look to it, so people will roll down their windows and order cheeseburgers when they see you. The kitty ears are provocative too, sort of, the kind of thing that does not make appearances much anymore; great for costume parties, and just feeling silly. But the bare midriff, gosh, there will be several men who will immediately go to their knees and attempt to blow a raspberry into your belly button. I might even consider it. Actually that might be another way to make cash for your new amazing camera, more fun than a kissing booth, and it would tickle a lot, and your giggling would lighten everyone’s day.

Good late Texas morning to all you wonderful peeps.

Hilary — That gentle gondola drift vino and meal sounds very good to me! Especially a salad –I am in teh mood for a big big salad today! You made me Google and this is what I found… “The Parma pig is fed a special diet of grains and whey. And the resulting hams are hand-trimmed and hand-massaged with sea salt before being aged for 14 months or more. At the end of the curing process, the hams graduate with the honour of being certified ‘Prosciutto di Parma’ with a characteristic carnelian red colour and melt-in-your-mouth taste.” But I bet you knew all that, right?? :) Geez — I sure hope my behind-the-hanging-quilt post will live up to your excited expectations! :)

Glenn! I do NOT go out in public in that. More of a Daisy Duke Halloween thing. But I could I suppose, if so inclined. :) Methinks you are quite cheeky with your raspberry thoughts. A hugging booth might be a good idea. 25 cents a bear hug! :)

Hey Tony, none of should really care how our tummies look, for it’s what’s inside that counts. Well not inside the tummy — but inside the heart, I mean. That Amazing Camera? I think it will probably also not only take self-portraits, but wash the dishes, do the laundry, mow the grass, walk the dogs and clean the leaves out of the gutters. :)

Hey Sweet Shakira! Ahh, thanks. What could be behind the hanging quilt? Rabbits? A horse? How awesome you are still in Jingle’s poetry rally! After I post this, I’ll be off to see you. Hugs to YOU too!!

    Dear Jannie,
I’m so happy that you will be getting a new camera. Interestingly that was one of my choices for a camera too once, in line with the canon eos as I was interested in buying a DSLR for a long time. It took me two years to realize that I didn’t really need to spend a lot of money on a good camera, and so I opted for a lighter regular digital camera, and I’m happy with it as I like taking captures just as they are, without the need to edit or enhance them. :)
I’m happy that we both connect and are friends, as I thoroughly enjoy coming to your blog and reading of your experiences as much I like to hear from you. :)
Look forward in reading your response.

Ana, Ana, Ana! I’m glad yu got a camera that works for you. DSLR, yep that’s what I want, and I don’t even know what DSLR stands for, so I better Google it. I did have a fairly decent Kodak a few years ago that eventually went south, then a hand-me-down camera that also gave up the ghost a few months ago. So I’m moving on up, moving on out — who hoo. And once I get my awesome camera — the photos I post here will be 720 to 730 px wide, and not this mere 700 px wide they are now. :) And hey — did you notice the button I posted for your give-away?? Isn’t the purple daisie in it AMAZING!!

Dearest Laura, always such a treat to have your spirit here. Well, I guess I should be happy just to be alive and healty without feeling the need to capture the world’s beauty photographically. Yet… the very heart of me does yearn for An Amazing Camera. Plus Kelly wants a head shot, so I’ll do it myself, instead of paying somene $200.00 And shall make it happen!! On eBay — yayyyy!!! Oh yes, the kitty ears — somehow they really do make me “pop.” :)

Sire, dear sire… a poem in your honor shall I now manifest.

    We’ll swill in the shade
    Fine ale in Adelaide
On the south shore of Oz
    Where merriment is boss.
    And we’ll capture our fun
By the light of full sun
    With our cameras so shiney
    And won’t it be fine-y. :)
