Be Patient, Ye Seeker Of Pansy Poems
Poetry | Posted by Jannie on 29 June 2010 @ 8:13 AM 42 Comments

Be patient ye seeker
of pansy poems.
and poems in general,
for poets are only human
and sometimes will be
found washing cars
or making coffee
or raking leaves
or mopping floors,
instead of constantly painting
angels and blazing violins onto
castle walls for you and me.
Be patient, ye seeker of
pansied summer mornings
and pansied evening boats
that drift into the harbors
of your eyes and the coves
of your deepest longings.
I once sought pansy poems too,
and poems about grand soirees
and bicycle wheels in the rain.
I wanted nothing more than to
to crawl into a good bed poem
and pull the covers up snug.
I also searched for poems
of battles I’d fought and won,
until yesterday, when I realized
the only battle is and ever
shall be within, and that love
alone will answer everything.

(end of poem)

LOVE this poem, Jannie. I think there is poetry in everything, even mopping floors and raking leaves. Especially raking leaves.
Have a great rest of the week!!

There is a reason that you are in my blogosphere….pansies are my favorite flowers! There is a legend that says that when Christ died on the cross all the flowers in the field were white. They all bowed their heads when he died, but the pansies turned their little faces upward and the drops of blood each became a different color that meant something different…like purple for passion and yellow for hope. I didn’t plant a single one this year and I miss them. You wouldn’t happen to be a Tri Delt would you? Pansies paired with the Delta shaped cloud the other day…do you like pearls too? We could be sisters!
Thanks for sharing that with us today.
Enjoy the day!

I like the thought of poets doing everyday things like mopping the floor. But crawling into a good bed poem is a good thing, too.

I love your mind. And I love this pansied poem. Poets are human, all artists are, but there’s something divine about YOU. xxoo

And in those “human” and supposedly “non pansied moments” is when the muse is resting and getting ready to sprinkle more magic so poems like this are born.
Lovely, Jannie. xx

I’m off now to see if I can put a little love and artistry into my side-bar.
Oh but first, have one little photo edit to add to Kelly in that 3rd photo.

Ha! You totally ambushed me with that line “and poems in general.” That sort of humor has a subtle, oaky, dusky bouquet that only a discriminating humor conoisseur (or, perhaps, conoisseur d’humor) can really appreciate and I’m glad to meet another one today.

Loved this… playful and melancholy at the same time. This line gave me goosebumps. “I wanted nothing more than to crawl into a good bed poem and pull the covers up snug.” Yes, be patient, for those pansy poems will find you. And, it did

BB did you try the pansies before you went back to the boat? And speaking of…what color is your boat and how many does it seat?

I love this part,

“…instead of constantly painting

Thank you dear Jewel, there is poetry in raking leaves — I do agree!
Dear Erin, I had never heard that pansy legend story of Christ. Pansies are one of my favorites too! Nope, I’m not a tri-Delt, but ocasionally I do TRY to work on my DELTS, and my TRI-ceps.
Pearls, not so much. But 2 out of 3 ain’t so bad.
Dear Lynn, I rose refreshed from my poem bed today. Actually, I had such weird dreams last night, but luckily I’ve forgotten them all now.
Dear Chris, oh my goodness, thank you. You are more than divine yourself.
Dear Talon,
. Ahhhh, thanks. Some of the searches, a lot of them actually, are for pansy poems, so when this one hit, I was so grateful. That oughta satisfy them pansy seekers!
Dear J.D. Dr Seuss is one of my greatest influences. I read his books to Kelly in utero, and he’s her favorite too.
Dear Provident Woman — well, hello and a hearty welcome to Funsterment Land. So glad to have you at the party. Yes, the photos are a couple of my favorites. But boy, it was chilly that day!! My model has to put up with so much.
Dear Mama Zen — ahh, thanks so much! I am pleased how it flowed out too.
Dear Tony — is it raining that lucky black streak yet, you pansy you? rains a fair bit in your nexk of the globe, wot?
Dear Luisa, ah, so glad you enjoyed all! I know BB is very happy with his pansy patch that’s growing great!
You and he must have green thumbs.
Dear Chris — yes, seeking poems in general can do a poem-hungry person in. And O’ Humor Discriminating One — I think you are one of the funniest guys on the Net, in a very conisseuring way, if conisseuring is a word.
Dear Davina — ooo you liked that bed poem line too? I was culling through old poem drafts and it belonged to a poem that otherwise had lines that were not that stellar. So glad I could salvage it and stick it in here to make sense. Whoo-hoo!!! Bring on the pansy poem seekers, Universe!!
Dear Jannie, glad you had a good night’s sleep!
Dear Paige, a tree as lovely as thee, would be a mighty good tree to see. Hey ! Dr Seuss lives in me.
Umn, that trumpet grape-smelling vine sure does sound yummy to my nose and eyes. And now, Paige, a word from BB…
deer paige of a book in blobspots… my boat is wite. it has two seets. and yes, i eeted mutch pansies, butt i be sure to plant mor.
Dear Liara — that is so very true. We seek and seek sometimes, and forget that all we need is within. I thought of you when I wrote the last verse!
Dear Barbara — yep, even poets are people. I’ve seen some walking dogs and paying bills!
You are welcome on the blog boutique link. I’ve got this new idea to promote things I like, rotating up to 10 links at a time, and as I get a new one up top, the 12th will fall off. So — I better get cooking today and get up the additional 5!
Dear Hilary — pretty wild with the pansies, eh?? Oh, and I see BB has not changed his thought since he was going out in the boat. Oh well, I’m sure he will soon! I never quite know what he’ll be getting up to next.
xoxoxo to all

Beneath the radar avoiding the plan
Being the smaller beside the road

Being bellow average is the end of my charge.

Dearest Jannie! This poem blew me away. Beautiful and wise — and “pansy poems”, such a wonderful word image to accompany your gorgeous photos of your precious little girl amongst the pansies. Yes, so many people seek and search and search and seek, but you are so right, my wise friend, that what we seek is love and the journey to that light within.

It was a lovely day.
Dear Dr. J! I had no idea another of your talents was poetry. How utterly captivating. Did you put aside all that poetic talent to become a doctor and a black belt. Mabye you recite poety as you give thsoe karate chops?
Thanks Dear Carla. My goodness, you made me look at them again through the eyes of framing them. It’s always fun to see the pansies in the stores when the weather starts getting colder.
Dear Ana, yes I am loving the WIDER photos too. Should I go to 780, 40 px wider, and reduce my sidebar by 40 px??
Oh I just LOVE sharing the things my eyes like to see. Hope you got my e-mail about the Rawr Almond chocolate? You are so sweet — thanks!!

Reading from a seasoned writer is always a pleasure. I love how you make Poets look like the ordinary people that they really are. Sometimes the media and fame can blow us out of proportion but indeed those common homogeneous human behaviors we still do makes us feel like the ordinary people that we are. Lovely read!

Thinking I’ll put up to 20 buttons, and as the newer ones come in, I’ll let the oldest one fall off — and keep the rotation going for a long long time. Your e-Book was very unique and awesome!!
Hey, Emmanuel, always super to have you pop in. I think I’m more of a “seasoned” human, than a writer.
Yes, we are really all the same, despite of any superirity or inferiority feelings. One people. One planet. One love.
Hey, Snaggle, I bet your pansies are sweet and gorgeous. They are such an expressive flower, I think. And highly edible. Yes, mama never lets a good photo op go to waste with my lovely young model and a theme in mind.
