Little Loves (a poem)

Little resentments

will I release to

the leaves of the day.

Little loves will I

set free on the breezes

of beautiful intention.

(end of poem.)

[Edit: I switched the order of photos 1 and 2 on July 6, 2010 at 10:29 a.m. Texas Time because the first one freaked Lynn out and Dr. J. loves the second one!]   :)

Kelly sure was inspired that November afternoon I took her to the Umlauf Sculpture Garden.

She was four.

We’d just come from the song contest awards (I’d won 2, whoo-hoo) and she was jazzed.

Skate_partner

She’d run to and pose beside, in, on, around and under more than 30 pieces of art that day, singing out “Mommy, take my picture! Take my picture!!”

I’m glad she did.

And I’m glad I did.

She’s something else, that Kelly girl!

Now that I’ve maxed my photos to 790px wide, yep — 50px wider (couldn’t resist,) I feel very very extrahappy about sharing my favorites with you.

Official new English word — extrahappy!

Your input on my recent photo-size poll helped twist my rubber arm to the 790 pix.  😉  Thank you.

Umlauf_contemplation

In other news… sooner than later I’ll explain the plan behind my new “Places I Like To Go…” links on my now 150px wide sidebar (down from 200 px!)

And post a video of me singing a new song I’m writing.

And have some kind of a giveaway.

All sound good?

P.S.  All photos in this post, unlike this photo the other day, are 100% unretouched.  Umlauf does keep things camera-ready!

Jannie, you and Kelly must have had so much fun that day. Thanks for sharing these photos with us. I especially like the one with Kelly and the multicoloured branches. Fabulous! :)

And your poem… I am a sucker for poetry, and this one is elegance itself. The breeze does move with intent, doesn’t it, but to where no one knows…

Kelly is an original – no doubts about it! It’s so neat to look back and relive one of those beautiful days.

Love the poem, Jannie – beautiful! I like to think of all those resentments fluttering in the breeze being chased by those beautiful intentions. Gorgeous imagery.

Hey Tony, I recall it being a most magical day, that keeps on spreading its magic. :) That piece you mention is most interesting indeed! I’m not sure if it’s still there, we intend to go back for another photo session when I get My Amazing Camera. Yes, and just how quickly the breeze can pick up and just how far its molecules can dsiperse and go is unknown too. I am so glad I could share this poem and that you liked it.

Hey Talon, you got that right on Kelly being very unique. And more Kelly days gone-by shall be revealed with time. :) I did not realize just how many great photos I have on my 2 recovered hard drives. Ahh, thanks on the poem. It just came to me. I was working in a 3rd verse, but the 2 seem to be entirely sufficent. Thank you for your kind words on that. :)

Hey, Lynn, firstly I draw attention to the fact that I switched the order of photos 1 and 2, as noted in the blue edit above. I think you and I are both breathing a bit better now. :) And as to the poem — thanks! I breathe better when I let little hurts go and concentrate on how I can be of service to others. Speaking of which — after I post this and get BB the new paper-doll-cutting hat he’s seen in a magazine… :) I’m off to paint the final pair of shutters and the trim boards for the little shed off the new garage. That will make Jim happy! :) Oh shoot, but before that will put a new background design on here… ahh, all the blogging things to do. :)

Hey, Caity. No! YOU are the awesomeness around here. Well, you sure add to the general extrahappiness here. Thank you on all. I am jus tso gald to share and that you liked them! What do you think? Maybe some vertical lines the color of her shirt for my background GIF to set off this post? Nah, maybe too flashy. Dark blue would be nice. Or navy swirls. :)

Hey, Dr. J, yes, we are fortunate to have such a little paradise here in our fair midst. Dr Umlauf was quite the awesome guy, what a gorgeous legacy eto leave behind for all of us to enjoy. And if you ever come back to this post and read that edit — :) you’ll see what an super awesome influence you and Lynn were to the overall flow and glow of this post. Thanks! Kelly does want to be an actress, and I’m supporting her in that. I’ll take her headshot myself when I get my new cam.

Now… about that new artistic background for here, and to BB’s new hat…

Hey, Audra — and I am EXTRAhappy to have a visitation from you today! So glad I wasn’t posting something lame today. Come to think of it — I now vow to never again post anything lame. :) (Until the next time I do.) :)

Hi Carla! Well, succinctly and sweetly said, and noted. Thank you!

Dear dear Hilary, leave it to you — the Super Brain to enlighten us with a whole welome history lesson on lexicography. Bravo!! I like the X – snappy for happy! Actually — inside each sculpture resides an real small human, in addition to the one on top and such. The interior ones operate the arms and legs. :) And a lesson in millstream technology vis-a-vis being close to the sea. And wind power? Happy days, for sure. And what in the world is up with Comment luv lately? I had to re-register my e-mail address. Just WILD! And yes — be BOLD!!! ‘Way bold. More peeps need to be exposed to your amazing blog.

Hey, Brian — give it away, it’ll come back to you, as far as love and good things to. I’m gnna give extralove whenever I can.

Hey, Panduh! Long time no see. How have you been? WHERE have you been? Yeah, that first pic is pretty cool indeed!! Can’t wait to go back there when I get a new good camera and have her recreate the poses in the same spot. But it’ll have to be in November to duplicate the light.

Hey, Patricia, have you noticed that she is more into the non-smiling mode in her ripe old age of 8? But we’re working on the smiling mode for her. You are welcome for the poem. After I read your comment on it, I said it several times out loud myself. Kind of an affirmation.

Alice Audrey — yes, I need to get her into the mood of that day for photos these days. I think her soul senses the iPhone is not such a good quality picture taker. The ones in this were taken with my old Kodak.

Hey Vered! Are you hoping for a CD in the give-away? What should I be giving away? ProBlogger says to keep it simple. Maybe not 18 books this time. :)

Hey Dustus… :) or 😉 they are all fun and good! That first one is pretty funny yeah. She’s a ham! Was. And still is.

Time for a little commenting chocolate break!

    Hi My Enchanting Jannie !
I was trying to find a beautiful poem on love for you to enjoy and bumped into this one that is fun. So I decided that you may laugh reading it.

    The entire bedroom reeks from
a cloud of lingering beer farts
    Clothes are strewn everywhere
The dog wants to be walked
or fed or played with, etc, etc
My mind cries out for some
    kind of reprieve and water
The sky is overcast and grey
    My mind whimpers for sleep
    The alcohol must be flushed
    from my system and forgotten
The fridge hums in my ear
How did I get on the floor?
How did I change my clothes?
Why does July 5th feel an
awful lot like a frigid March 1st?
It is a stay in a watch movies
    with the girlfriend afternoon
It is a look at the pictures from
    last night’s exploits with awe
How did we do all that stuff?
Why did we do all that stuff?
Did I really drink that stuff?
I’m not supposed to eat that
Maybe next year I will plan
ahead for the dreaded July 5th
morning after of what ifs and
    the bizarre, lingering June gloom
    Posted by Eric Lawson .

Hope that the whole lovely family is well. Hugs from me. Cheers !

Dear Luisa — thanks so much. I always appreciate your sweet words.

Dear Jewel, thanks a bunch. And I thoroughly enjoyed your song the other day!

Dear Michael — what a wacky wonderful poem. Quite a “guy” theme on that, methinks. Beer, eh? Too much of a great thing always disappoints. :) Well, except for love.

Dear Tess — do you always get up so early? early to bed, early to rise?? hey, I’ll enjoy taking you to Umlauf when you’re in Austin!

Dear Ellis — so humbled you chose to follow me back here. Thanks. These poem comments are going so be such a highlight! Thanks.

Dear Paige — your comment reminds me that I want to give those photos an alternate title, making sure Umlauf Sculpture Garden is in it, so those will come up on Google for others to enjoy! Yep, BB is such a cute little barbershop whistling guy!!

Dear Snaggle –yes I just LOVE these too, thanks, and I have over 20 more from that day to share through the years. Ain’t blogging oh so grande!!!

Dear Davina, ahh, I am so glad “Little Loves” speaks to you so. thank you! The original title was “Little Leaves.” I wonder should I have stayed with it?
