1,000,000 Pennies & 2 Give-Away Polls

Golden_Blanton_summer_of_2007

I call that “Golden at The Blanton,”  3 summers ago.

Above her are bones.  I forget what kind. But as I recall, they’re real.

And below her are 1,000,000 pennies.

I kid thee not!

Anyway, I think it’s a neat shot I took with my old Kodak Easyshare, and I imagine I used no flash.  There are zero photo effects on it.

Now, about those 2 give-away polls…

…because I have some excellent-used stuff just lying around our (smoke-free, love-filled, mostly-unchaotic) home to possibly bring someone else pleasure, your votes might help me decide what to do with some of it.  And maybe even land you a Jannie letter on beautiful stationery with gorgeous stamps and hopefully relatively neat hand-writing. Whoo-hoo!

Thanks!

Jannie

P.S. Thanks for your nice comments on my post yesterday when I was worrying if I was a weird freak. :)   You all made me feel so much better about being me.

Good heavens, now that’s a memorable photo and a half! I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything quite like that display before! I hope they were hamster bones and not human ones! :P

A give-away poll, huh? I must try me one of those on Trottersville some time. I’m sure there must be something lying around that I can give away… aside from my amaziing fungus collection I mean.

I think you ought to put all your unfavourite commenters in a hat and choose six winners from that. Actually, scratch that because I’m sure you only have favourites here Janniesville! Hmmm… let me think…

Ooh! I know! Why not put all your give-away items in a hat (granted it’ll have to be a humungous hat), reach into said hat and toss out the items one by one in various directions around the living room. Whatever direction that the items fall in is the direction that a corresponding commenter lies in. So, for example, if you happen to throw them all in the direction of Australia, I get all the swag and no one else! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Ahem.

    Anyhow, I think it’s fair, don’t you?

Tony! Brilliant idea on how to do the give-away. Or I could give the olde globe the olde spin and finger routine. Except our globe broke and had to be chucked. Maybe spin the bottle! :)

Hi Liara! And soon you will have a little one to take many pictures of. You can never take too many so keep that camera close and the batteries charged!

Thanks, Lynn. Expect lots more weirdness! Yep, $10,000 sitting there on that floor. We haven’t been to The Blanton in a while. I wonder if they still have that exhibit.

Hey, Miss Talon, yes it was a sweet moment to capture. And you know what? Today in the back of her closet I found the dress she was wearing that day! I wonder how it fits her now?

Ahh, thanks Daisy. I’m so glad you like the photo! It’s a real original, I think.

Brain running. 1,000,000 pennies is $10,000. I’d not want to be the person that counted them every night after it closed to make sure someone did not pocket one. Question: Is art, art in any form?
    If the copper pennies came
    From the bones we see
    Then how many pennies
    Are hidden in me
    If a price tag is
    On my knee
    How many
    Pennies
    Would
    I see

1,000,000 PENNIES AND THE PEA should be the title of that gorgeous pic. You might have several hundred thousands images of Miss Kelly by now. You could put them in fat decks chronologically, and then flip them like those 1930’s animation flip books so that every event in the pea’s life would come into some kind of action and focus–though I am certain that you have video of her too for sure. She is kind of the Shirley Temple of Austin, enit?

Bitty child in a red dress
    standing short and erect
on the edge of a sea of
    copper, 1,000,000 pennies
for the eye to see and
    contemplate, pennies that
all have stories of their own,
    and shrill metallic voices
    all competing for the child’s
    attention. Some say dive in,
swim in a sea of pennies,
    pumpkin, and others wail
for they have a sad tale of
how little is their worth in
this day, in this place; some
    still coated in pocket lint,
some so shiny they dare the
    shutter to capture their
    brilliance, honest Abe turned
    every which way under the
    mantle, the ceiling of bones,
God help us, yes, bones, and
as the child peers up at the
    golden bleached whiteness of
them, she does wonder how many
    lizards & hamsters & frogs & puppy
dog tails it takes to make a roof
over the penny puddle? But all is
    well, all is OK in the land of Funster;
for there are no blue bunny bones
    in the mess.

Another Jannie Great Give-Away? How very frugal or Zen of you. The book of poetry, or the wonderful letter from the mayor of Funsterville, the queen of Funsterland, would be special beyond vowels,
beyond breath. If you do put our names in a Sorting Hat, then perhaps it has to be Big Jim who
must close his eyes and make some picks. Blue bunny and Kelly get all the fun stuff already.

So, I’m still not sure if I’ll make it to Austin before Christmas. But if I did WIN, you could save the postage expense by presenting the winning item to me over a beer or glass of wine during one of your gigs (if you happened to have a gig while I was in town, that is). Therefore I picked the option of “Other” for how to choose a winner…pick me for postage savings!!! Heh.

Hey! It’s me — the host of this party.

Forgive my tardiness, I’ve been running around a lot today. BB had me out shopping for new clothes for him.

Hey Glenn — cool idea on a Flip Book for Kelly’s life. Great poem, thanks! Oh me — totally totally zen, yes. And Big Jim and the sorting hat — SUPER idea.

    Hey, Mama Z! :)

Hey, Kelly — I got a lot of cool pix that day. And was glad you could at least touch those pennies, because the guard was certainly watching your curious little fingers like a hawk. All those lovely paintings, and statues so hands-off for you. Thank goodness for our Childrens’ Museum! $10,000, Sweetie! Oh, you voted for your painting — cool. If you win, I’ll mail it to you with a nice letter.

Hey, Snaggle — yep $10K. I once found the single black bead in a cylinder of 1,000,000 white ones at the Childrens’ Museum — who-hoo!! Ahh, your walls must be covered in soem awesome mighty-fine art stuff!!

Hilary!! Today — she passed fit today, got the okay for gymnastics and Martial Arts. Just no trampolines with kids in backyards for another 6 months! She’ll bea happy to be back at tumbling and twriling. Ah, ain’t no thing to send a book across the pond. I do remmeber when I used to send a lot os stuff Surface Mail, once upon a once. BB says hey and sends much love and kisses.

    Hey, BK — pretty cool,eh? :)

Hey Weyrd One — How ’bout Baby A’s? I went there yesterday with a friend, fun , fun, fun. Good idea on saving postage!

Ahhhh, Paige, were you pulling my leg in that e-mail? You REALLY liked them? I won’t be sad if you’re just being nice. Your kitchen is awesome! And LOVE that gorgeous rifle. Jim’s mom had a nice old one hung over her sitting room archway. but it fell and konked a visiting lady on the head. Busted that old gun all up. Ahhh, what an Emergency Post I just read of yours. Fun, fun, fun.

Hey, Doctor J! Well, my Word Of The Year for Christing Kane is GIVE, and I’m trying to keep that in mind.

Hey Patricia — pretty cool, eh on those pennies? Yes, I think they are all new. Or were. Now that Kelly’s hopefully old enough to appreciate that museum I’d like to go back and see if the pennies are still there.

Good Heavens, Joaquin, that put a whole new spin on the scene in the photo. :) I do wonder what the whole idea on that pole is. I gotta go back there and see it again!

Hey, Alice Audrey. :) And I have the urge for a humongous donut and a decaf latte. :)

Hey Luisa, ahhh, I just have this stuff that can maybe find new homes. So why not?
