Can It Really Be?

Can it really be
20 years ago tonight
we first walked along
the shore road together?
Can it really be
16 years ago I ran up the hill
to take this picture of the house
that changed us forever?
Can it really be
our little angel came crying
and laughing into this world?
Can it really be
20 years ago tonight
you became my guy and
lucky me became your girl?
Well, look at the calendar – it WAS 20 years ago tonight! Happy first-date anniversary, Baby!
Whoo-hoo — TWENTY years!!!
And dear readers… someday I’ll show you more pix of the little house in Mahone Bay we remodeled, added onto and sold. (1994 photo above shows it after additions, but before finishing touches.) [edit: we were living in Texas and doing up the house in Canada mostly from afar, with one carpenter working on it.]

Thank you, Dear Erin. That is a WONDERFUL quote. Beautiful visual on. And I love your loving quote ties in to the horizon on the picture.
Thank you, Dear Brian. A lot of years and adventures — most of them good! I apologize for not being over at your blog much lately, but I am sure you are getting very neart the top of the visiting list!!
Thank you, Dear Talon! And do you remember some sweet details of your first date! I suppose it was full of intrigue and plenty of spy subterfuge!!
And you married 30 years now. Wow! It sure do fly.
Hey, thanks, Dear Jingle! Do you still think I am a young chick of 45? I am 46 now!! Yes, I was in a nunnery (NOT) until I was 25.
And Oh, my goodness — you are finding some awesome new poetry blogs!! I’ll visit when I can — I think I still have 10 FRESH poets to visit and adore first, tho!
Hey, thanks, Dear Lane. Many more indeed I do rightly hope!!
Hey Dearest Joella, thanks for pointing out the confusion! I went ahead and edited both this post and my About page, may tweak that About page even more, and slide in some awesome visuals — with this Paint Shop Pro the sky’s the limit! I am still a Canadian with greencard. I moved here 2 weeks after Jim and my’s first date. And I do love living here! I And love Canada too where all my family still is, and we are renting out a house we will eventually move back to and do up in fine Jannie-Jimmy style.

Incredible story, Jannie & Jim, a brash handsome and slick American came to
the prairies of Canada, and plucked himself a fair blond flower. She fell in love
with this amorous mechanically-inclined wonder boy, and decided to come
to Texas with him; never forgetting that her Canadian roots could not be
bleached away. And 11 years later the pea appeared, like magic, and she
was so welcome to this perfect couple, big shots in Austin society. And
how fitting that when Jim closes down the car barn, and retires, and Kelly
is in college, Canada, and the Jannie faily wil beckon you back. So happy
anniversary, and we all know that every day and every night is just that
first date all over again with J&J, enit?

My first date with my partner was Halloween 34 years ago…we took his visiting parents out to dinner and he never said a word…until he blurted out ” Do you ski?” I said no and then waited and his parents started talking to fill in the void! It was so funny
Happy 20 year for first date….Chelsea Clinton got married on our wedding anniversary the 31st and we celebrated 33 years at a house my guy designed and built but we sold and never lived there! Hope it was a fun day ?
