18 More Amazing Things I’ve Done Lately
Just Good Stuff | Posted by Jannie on 3 August 2010 @ 7:58 PM 54 Comments

1. Charged my video camera.
2. Cut up 33 paper shopping bags to use as wrapping for books I’ll be mailing eventually.
3. E-Mailed my interview answers to wonderful Lori.
4. Got my Friday 55 all ready for this week — a 55 not only FOR – but ABOUT the G-Man, whoo-hoo! (Oooo, the intrigue.) [Edit, the G-Man posts his 55 on Thursdays at 8:00 p.m. MICHIGAN time!]
5. Fed The Child at least a couple, often three times, daily.
6. Had The Child take a bath.
7. Took The Child to the Lake a few times. (We live not far from the park pictured above.)
8. Took The Child back to Kung Fu and Gymnastics, first time since what happened to her arm on May 1st.
9. Worked a few hours at Jim’s office. I shall rejoin him there one or two afternoons a week, as in the Olden Daze. (I actually worked with him full-time before The Child arrived – if you can call zipping out for 3-hour tuna-melt coffee lunches to sit and write songs and poems working fulltime…) (Sleeping with Being married to the boss does have its perks!)
10. Was off Internet for a whole 3 hours in a row. While I was awake!!
11. Finally chucked my duct-taped $1 flipflops in the trash.
12. Followed a bunch of gals on BlogFrog – and many are following back — whoo-hoo! Now what?
13. Tweeted once. Maybe twice!
14. Sat with metronome and guitar. Think 130 beats per minute is it for “Sail A Child.” (And you thought it would be a draggy tune!)
15. Ran into Ryan at Kalyani’s moving day this past Sunday and he’ll be in the recording studio with me in a couple weeks! Piano on “Sail A Child” would be beautiful, especially Ryan’s piano. That guy is a musical gift to the world!
16. Dabbled a bit more on the third verse of “Sail A Child,” trusting a couple lines even more magical than what I had before will soon unfold like silk scarves waving bye from the deck of a yacht bound from New York ’round the globe.
17. Read and commented on a whole dozen or so blogs!!
18. Answered almost all my comments on my last post. And am looking forward to answering the remaining sweet ones.
19. (whoops — 19, not 18.) Finally assembled the 14″ Smokey Joe grill we bought back in February. Eatin’ steak tonight, Baby!! And it’s almost ready, whoo-hoo! So to it!!
And you may NOT comment here unless you tell me at least one amazing thing you’ve done in the past 24 hours — and preferably more than one, because you my friend, are AWESOME, and made of love and light.

- I watched Amanda’s band camp performance.
- I reminisced over the past 19 years as my eldest child had her birthday on Monday and I can’t believe she is really 19, OMG!
- Oh, and I came by Jannie’s blog and commented on her wonderful post on all the amazing things she’s done lately.

I’ve watched less than 30 minutes of television in a whole month, plus one movie on DVD. Including the last 24 hours, that makes it a month and a day.
I just posted about what we’re going to see tomorrow with pictures from 2007.
I swam for an hour and a half — first time I’ve been swimming since 2007. I need to do it more often; good exercise and I’ll have muscles hurting tomorrow that hardly ever hurt.

Good work with the child!! We, on the other hand…can’t lay any claims here to baths of meals for the children (okay…maybe we did feed them…).
Me? Awesome? In the last 24?
I counted my toes…twice…maybe three times. (and I got the same number each time!)
I talked with my tongue out of my mouth (it really sounds pretty cool!!) (well…at least I think it does!)

Can’t wait to hear “Sail a Child” my talented friend
Amazing how much a mom can do in a day. my daughter just finished as lead in a musical. In one scene, she had to portray (in song and action) all she did (as a mother)in a day. It’s tiring to think about it.
here’s to you wonder woman!!!!

What awesome thing have I done in the last 24 hours? Ummmm…ah…yeah…I’m drawing a blank. I did trim the dogs nails…but that’s not really awesome (though maybe a little for them) and they were actually good about it. Nope, I’m awesome-less for the last 24 hours

Fabulous list! I made jam, organized my mudroom, did my laundry, baked bread, welcomed an international student who will be spending some time with me over the next little while, and am now thinking about a blog entry. Of course none of this is half as exciting the two weeks previous when I had a dear friend from Germany visit and we traipsed all over the countryside. How’s that for a list.

I reluctantly turned it off when wifey got home to share happy cuddles with her.

Oh Jannie, you busy little bee! Can’t wait for the new tunes to be played here! Here is a list of fun things in my world;
*I have fed the kids in the last week, but gleefully let my sister, brother-in-law and his family do most of the work last weekend. Score 1 for me, maybe two or three!!
*finally went grocery shopping and can now claim more than beer and ketchup in the fridge (although those are essentials at our house!)
*bought a snake for the toilet and plan on learning how to use it (don’t want to know what the kids have dropped in there to make it gurgle so… )
*am debating mopping the floor, as guests are coming for dinner
*am procrastinating by visiting some lovely blogs (like YOU!)
*am procrastinating getting my roof re-done
*payed credit card off(shopping anyone?)
have a good one BB! Really gotta go tend to that floor!

Dearest Lynn, I don’t think I’ve ever had a fresh fig. Or a stale one. Or a dried one. have I? Hmnnn. I must try one! I’ve had lots of fig newtons. Ahh, and getting Braille on a business card — that is SO rockingly wonderful, like you. Nighty-night — one night later!
Dearest Anne, you ARE amazing and such a great mom. NINETEEN?? Oh my goodness, that must make you stand back beaming with awe and incredulousess. When Kelly turns 19 I doubt I’ll believe it either. And super news on your header progress. I look forward to seeing it!
Dearest Mike, that is just AWESOME about you cutting tv out so much. I’d sure love to do that, but hubby does like his tube every night. Oh, I so knw what yoy mean about swimming being such good exercise and easy on the body. I’ve swam in the lake a bit lately, and felt SO great later.
Dearest Lance — we saved you some ribeyes, should stay well in the fridge for at least a week. So pop on by and partake!!
A steak flavored candy bar. Umm, I think after a glass of wine I might just be tempted to try one of those.
I saw lately all the bacon flavored items, weird, but to some — apparently wonderful.
You are so silly, counting your toes.
Dearest Moondustwriter — how Totally AWESOME to see you again, and to learn more about your family. Your daughter sounds as awesome as you. me — far from a Wonder woman, in fact I feel lazy most of the time so I write these lists to feel like I actually am accomplishing something. I really do!
Dearest Talon, Red Green — can you believe I just had to Google that? I was totally not at all in the loop as to who they are. Thanks for the lesson today! Sounds like a great wacky show. The Smokey Joe is a great little grill, and easy to clean due to its size. Could probably handle 4 steaks at a time. I have to trim my dogs’ nails too. Peach only lets me do one paw a day, but eventually I get her all ship-shape. Or I guess I should say all shih-tzu-shape.
You silly — you are always totally awesomeFull to me!!! Always.
Dearest Carla — aka Earth Wonder Woman. You blow me away with your amazing cool feats!! All sound exquisite. Oooo, and exchange student! Where from?
Jannie!!
Dearest Rose, impressive list! I’ll have t do some school clothes shopping for my young one soon, she’s got tons of shirts but pants and shorts are dwindling. Will need sneakers too. Umnn, Tim Horton’s — a place I absolutely haunt when home, and funny — Tim Horton’s features prominently in my singing post due to publish tomorrow evening.
Dearest Ellis 49. So you are soon giving up Desk 49 to some young hopeful? New computer mouse sounds most awesome! I am mouseless on this laptop, and have gotten quite used to it now. Felt weird at first, tho. I CAN use a mouse, but choose not to at this point. Wait! WERE you referring to a COMPUTER mouse, or a live pet? Are your knees better today? I hope so!
Dearest G-Man, Lynn alerted me to Blue Bunny ice cream products! Hope it was a tasty great big lick.
8:00 sharp — got it! I am raring to hit publish. Might put my new BB Harley header up first tho, earlier in the day. Funny — but I actually drink Heineken, go figure!
Dearest Tony, Wovenhand, what an intriguing name. You have me very curious about that indeed. Sounds like how I felt when I scored a Renaldo and Clara DVD on eBay — a movie I’d wanted to see for 23 years, but never had! Ahhh, good hubby on the snuggles with Cassy! Did she have a listen too?
Dearest Katherine, I really don’t feel like much of a busy bee, feel more lazy than anything. Well, when I let the housework slide I do feel unproductive. Beer and ketchup — alright! Last week I felt like I’d for sure won the lottery when I unearth a small can of tuna from the back of the cupboard so The Child could have a little variety from P.B. and cheeseburgers.
Oh gosh, let’s hope your kids did not pull apart barbies and flush them, as mine and the by next door did 2 summers ago. Paid credit card off — awesome!!! And potentially dangerous.
Book a cruise, I say!!
Oh, did you mop your floor??
SuzieCate, Dearest of course, well let me guess… YOU have been tending yrou gorgeous garden, making fabulous meals, keeping your house in beaufitul order, going on hikes, taking great photos, and writing awesome posts. Am I right, or what!?!?
Dearrest William, well sometimes I am busy, or seem like it.
And enjoying life. Hope you are too!!
Gotta zip away for just a bit, friends. Well maybe for 8 hours. Or 6. To catch some much-needed Zzzzs!!

I have to say, Kung Fu is just too cool.
When I was younger I wanted to be a Shaolin monk and make my way through the temple and get branded with the dragon on one arm and the tiger on the other. I think I shifted focus after that to become Indiana Jones or one of the crew guys on Star Trek (I practiced my Vulcan death grip just in case I needed it one day.)
I ended up going down the Kickboxing path, and I don’t have any regrets.

2. In July I asked for the 1st week of Sept off. Today I found out MB has planned a visit here for that same week-end, BBM also has that week-end off, n none of us knew what the other was doing… a family visit is in the cards- n I’ll have time for it! Synchronicity is amazing…
Other stuff doesn’t seem too amazing today…

Good morning!
Dearest Paige, and today I have nowhere to go, nothing to do but surf blogs, maybe write a bit more on songs. Thinking “dream” is a good word to incorporate into Sail A Child. By George — I shall!! BB ate ALL the pie!
Dearest Tammy. me? (looks over shoulder to see who you are referring to as amazing…) ME?? Ahhh, thanks. So are YOU!!Are your boys in summer school? Or just started back early? So far in her 6 years of schoolin’ I have always remmbered to pick Kelly up from school but I’m always scared somehow I’ll forget. What’s up with that?
Dearest Professionally blogging Vered, that lake IS amazing!! It’s actually the Lower Colorado River but they’ve dammed it into what they call “Lakes.” Nice cool, clean ones.
Dearest Barks — you are such a good good doggie. BB gives you lots of hugs!!
Dearest Erin — that is a long long drive from the airport. Glad you got home safe and sound. How was your show?? I’d love to see Milwaukee one day. All that beer! Are Laverne & Shirley still there?
Dearest Anonymous from CT — don’t you look like a certain someone I know. Computer woes suck. Great to see you again. Sorry, I’ve not been to your blg lately — but you are on the list!
Dearest Joaquin — 6 & 7 ARE usually the same thing yes, this time of year.
Great observation!! Janniefied — I like that.
You so funny. Yur gravatar still cracks me up EVERY time.
Dearest Daisy, walking in the rain is AMAZING. So proud of you. Hope it wasn’t thundering and lightening out??? Oy! Nothing like a walk in the rain followed by a nice hot bath, cocoa and some donuts. Then beer for dessert.
Jannie!!
Dearest Desk49. Your handle always makes me smile. Like the answer to life is 42. And Joaquin’s funny Poe gravatar in shades. Quirkiness is so fun. I work not at a desk when home either. Sofa mostly — my body slowly taking it’s shape. Oy.
Dearest J.D. You must be in such awesome shape. There are some kick-boxing moves in Jazzercise that always felt so empowering, and shaped me up. Can you still do the Vulcan Death Grip? Probably so, eh? Once you get it you’ve got it forever — like riding a bike, I guess.
Dearest Snaggle — yes, comment rules for just this one post, as I know you are all too shy to admit how awesome you all really are.
But, seriously… I’ve known how amazing you are since the day we met. Ahhhh, FB — bringing together so many people. It’s just amazing!!! Yay!!!! First week of September off and MB is coming to visit. That’s just the BEST fun news. And finding your friend, of course. How awesome.
Dearest FireBlossom, who is always amazing (and whose sidebar button link shall I next create…) Oh, I love a big early meal. Like Thanksgiving at 3:00 p.m with all the fixin’s. Or Italian buffet at 3:30. Ooo, laundry. Did you fold the clothes too, and put them away? That’s the part I’m not so good at. You ever watch those Survival guys — one of the 2 who goes barefoot? geez, I loves me some shows like that!!
Dearest LLCoolJoe — I thought those painted golf balls to be very very artistic. A good trio of colors, quite Italianate. Will you be taking those to AZ with you? Never sad to blog and share quirky stuff — it’s kinda sad NOT to!!

Jannie,
I’m worn out. I need to take a nap after reading your list of all you’ve done. I am very impressed. Can you send some of your endless energy my way?
It’s hot here and so my list is short.
Blogging: Visited friends as well as some new sites and am continuing my self-made poetry challenge, which is a challenge:~)
Home: Cleaned my linen closet after years of stuffing things in it. Found some sheets and lacy stuff that I didn’t even know I had. I also cleaned the towel cupboard. I’m on my way to cleaning the kitchen drawers…wish me luck.
Family: Sent my youngest off to grad school…with sadness, but happy for her.
Fun: Okay…this one has me stumped. This is kind of scary. I need to reconsider what I’m doing if I can’t come up with something fun I did recently.
hmmm…does blue bunny have any suggestions?
p.s. I’m looking forward to the new video!

Oh hi! Dearest wonderful Lori! Ahhh, G-Mail, I have not checked in 3 days or so. Maybe 4? Must get to. Thanks for the heads-up on that. I think I have an e-mail there waiting from wonderful JoyGirl Megan too. Photos? Sure! If I was brave enough to post them here you many use any and all.
Or if you’re looking for something specific — I’d love to help you out if I can. You know what? I think all those amazing things together I did don’t add up to the sweet gesture of sending your pal in Oz a gift. That is so sweet!! in spiring too. I have some correspondence I could respond to.(Notice I chose not to say “should” respond to. I am taking it easy on myself on that one.)
Oh, Sara, you make me laugh. Worn out.
I’m sure you’ve been doing plenty! Do you not have A/C? Just curious. And you also make me laugh at my “endless energy” which today will no doubt be spent 6 hours on computer, me reclined on sofa now. Are you finding the poetry challenge more to keep up with time and energy wise that you’d like? Curious on that too! Oh — how wonderful to find things you’d forgotten about. I bet your linen closet smells so great! how long have you lived in that house? Kitchen drawyers — yay! I won’t be touching mine until we leave for N.S. which could be anytime between 1 and 7 years.
S funny you to hear you mention your younggest could be old enugh to be going to grad school. I always think of you as a teen, because of your spirit. Fun? Come back tonight and you may laugh at how I am not afraid to let myself look completely silly on a video. A PUBLIC video.

Shoot! Dearest Denise. Sorry I missed you up there.
Bravo — sounds like a major poultry breakthrough for you! And I hear chicken stroking is a very refined art, not to be trodded upon unlightly.
I LOVE scotch cookies.

Does it count as tweeting if I use an automatic system? Hope I’m not being obnoxious that way.
You’ve certainly been busy lately.

Dear Jannie,
Sounds like you have been having been keeping busy in-between hopefully enjoying the Summer.
Good to hear from you and your experiences.

Well, you sure beat me by a mile! I forgot to feed my kids yesterday altogether. It wasn’t until we were driving home from the youngest son’s sax practice that one of them said “I’m hungry” and I realized I’d not made dinner. Oops!
Meanwhile though, I did post a mommy brag blog about the youngest son playing football, and a #fridayflash story on my fiction blog. That counts for something, right?

Hi Alice Audrey! Hey, I think all Tweeting is good, lots of people use scheduled tweets. I haven’t so far, but I suppose I might. Yeah, I was busy, but been taking it easier the past couple days. Still feeding The Child, tho!
Dearest Ana — ah, so great to see you as always. Just some silly things on my list too, of course.
Ahh Dearest Moondustwriter — you are so sweet to pop ’round here again. Thank you so much for your most lovely and appreciated sentiments!! My first goal is to enter my songs in Kerrville Folk Festival, then take it from there! Whoo-hoo!
Dearest Deanna, oh, you did a Friday Flash too? I think I’m gonna be so hooked on posting those from now on. Fun, fun, fun! And how great about your son and sax. Kelly takes piano, and we are so lucky as her teacher comes right to our house once a week.

That quite a list. Let’s see what I’ve done lately.
Washed and took pictures of my old car that died last fall, to try and sell it.
Took more pictures of my precious cats.
Had a picnic lunch in the park Sunday (from Subway).
Rode 3.5 miles on my exercise bike this morning.
Wrote a new Magpie a few days ago.
Posted my new quote this morning.
Other than that, just the same old, same old.

Linda, my Dearest, I think your list is divine!! It is a Honda Accord? How many cats do you have? We have 1 but I think 2 would be better. I like Subway, but a 9″ sandwich would be the perfect size for me — I either come away hungry with the 6″ sub, or too STUFFED from the 12″ one. (Silly me.) How ’bout you? I like their multi-grain bread. Awesome on the pedalling! Exercise-wise for me, I sucked in my gut several times, danced with, wrestled with and got gymnastics lessons from Kelly for 30 minutes on Saturday. Went for 2 walks around the block in the past 3 days — a whole 1/2 mile walk each time!
One of the walks was lucky — outside one house I chanced upon a stove-range and a dishwasher for sale, both very good looking. The stove did I need not, but the dishwasher yes, especially since it was the exact same make and model of our current one that’s been broken. So the pair are — for only $50. (Never put a number on it first! Hubby has taught me well.)
Washer needs a gasket or something. So, hopefully I can get back in a dishwasher mode soon. Ironically, in the past 3 months since our dishwasher broke I’ve been keeping the dishes more washed. (Can’t hide ‘em in the washer!)
I have, this morning, worked more on the guitar for “Sail A Child I’m learning how to incorporate a little hammer-on in one spot.” Plus practicing the whole thing to get it better! And sailed the child off to gymnastics camp this week! She loves it, tho. They do all kinds of fun things. Magpie — I have been glimpsing that word in relation to a weekly writing. I bet it’s fun! I am thinking I’ll get hooked on the FridayFF55, but not sure if I want to get into a committed schedule on any meme. But generally, I post about 3x weekly, not that you asked. I bet your quote is inspirational! Like you.
xoxoxoxo
Off to check for any new comments, then back to the guitar. And maybe even lunch today!!!
