Angel Of Delight In The Garden

There’s Kelly at age 5 in our backyard in her Snow White wig.

There’s me zooming in on her face in that same picture.

There’s a map of our backyard.
(Except the summer she was 5 we were still a year away from getting her little swimming pool.)
(And her dad would not begin constructing her tree house for another year and a half – built it with his own two hands, he did – top to bottom.)

There’s the swimming pool… I got it for $300, landed. (Assembled it myself! I mentioned I kick ass on occasion, right?)

There’s the tree house, a shot I took about 2 months ago.
There’s that donut hole photo of Austin I took.
Austin, Texas, that is — where we live.
And guess what?!!??
Another Angel of Delight — Lori of the Jane Be Nimble blog garden, has an interview post about me up – a post with all-new Jannie tidbits, and one that beautifully showcases that entire donut (less a couple bites.)
Hope you’ll join us over there on Lori’s front porch?!
With love from your ever humble blogging servant,
Jannie
xoxoxoxo

There was Kelly helping her dad build the treehouse when she was 6. (She’s almost 9 now!)
P.S. If I’m not posting as often as usual this coming week — don’t worry. I’ll be immersed in any combo of the following…
– going into the recording studio on 2 or 3 of my new songs
– launching my big eBay selling blitz
– catching up on reading your blogs
– answering your lovely comments on this post
– finally mopping those floors!

Dearest Daisy, ain’t she a cutie, that Kelly! I am asking that luck be with me mostly before I go into the studio so I’ll have the second song further along! The studio will be fun.
Dearest Lori, I will tell Jim you like his handiwork! And the post you put together is pretty amazing over there!! So creative you are. I can’t thank you enough for that. THANKS!!!
Dearest Alice Audrey. Why thanks! And if you see my categories list, you’ll see Ass-Kicking, but I haven’t used it in months because now that Kelly reads so well, she tells me ass is a very inappropriate word. Glad she hardly reads my posts anymore.
Dearest Mama Zen! I’m working on ‘em, I promise! I’m trying to work TOO hard on one, I think. So my best bet is to go very gently with it.
Dearest Lance — oh yes, pictures, lotsa pictures. And a nice portrait of my mop. It’s not a new mop, but it’s a goodie –lots of strings still on it. The pool now actually is drained cause the hoses broke. But it fills up again in only 4 hours. So — come on down!

How adorable little Kelly is! And what a great constructionist (is that a word?) you and her dad make.
My sons helped their dad build their fort when they were 3 and 5, which they used a lot throughout the years, but now that they’re 11 and 13 and have outgrown it, my oldest decided to take down the swingsets and turn it into a garden. He has a grape vine and roses climbing the fort now – all done by himself mind you – and it’s gorgeous. I just love bragging on the babies, don’t you?
Thanks so much for sharing these photos!

Dearest Hilary, BB is flat tuckered out now, all that pie he ate! Yep, a good week expected ahead, thanks.
Dearest Deanna — you should well brag on those babies! What a fine young gardener you’ve raised, SO wonderful to hear! Thank YOU for sharing!
Dearest G-Man, ahhh those glazed sourcream donuts — you know those make me smile. And, yep — oh wait — some of the metal signs are still on the fence. Others hubby hung on the outside of his car place. He picked them up at flea markets and such over the years.
Dearest Paige, the pool is actually now temporarily drained, the hoses cracked, old. Ah ha — off to learn stuff to hold me over a barrell some day.
Thank you Dearest Fireblossom. Yep, our backyard is so HOT you gotta watch out for that lava on tender toesies. Methinks you do like that tree house. And that last pic is a little weird, yes.

Yep, just call us The Ass Kicking Trio!!
Dearest Rose,
Dearest Desk 49, yes olde photos can be very goodies indeed. The oldest one in this post is from 3 years ago. yes, the Hubby does like old signs. Not so many on the back fence now as he hung a few outside his building at work — where they look MOST smashing.
Dearest Mandy — well….. Hubby has garnered a few signs over these 20 years, various places. Oh, the pool set-up. I KNOW!! I never cease to amaze me.
When I get an idea in my mind, there’s no stopping me. Luckily, that side of our yard is pretty flat, and when filled to the top it’s only about 2″ out of level. Not bad, methinks! And Mandy — here’s the interior of the tree house, at this link…. (Let’s hope I did the link thing correctly!) Nope — that was a Starbucks sourcream donut!!
Dearest Tony, well, this week I’ll get a start on the 2 tunes I aim to enter in Kerrville NewFolk. Luckily, Jim and George bartered a bit, and I have a few “free” hours studio time. The Kosher Pig Man, eh? And I am th Walrus — koo-koo-ka-choo. Threw in that Molten Lava bit for weirdies like you! WONDERFUL weirdies, of course!
Wonderful wacky weirdies.

She reads sometimes, so I do endeavor to keep it PG.

Yup, those Retro signs are great. Kudos to
Big Jim for being nostalgic as well as mechanically
inclined. If they are original metal signs, of course,
they are quite valuable to other collectors; especially
the Coke and B.F. Goodrich ones. The PEA has so
many different looks it would be impossible to
put her in only one catagory; cute, yes, but more,
more, more. $300 for that pool, what a steal, but
too bad on the broken hose issue. August is blazing
in Austin, they say. It was 97 here in the Northwest
yesterday, and gonna stay there all this week.
Dear me, I may melt; if it weren’t for the A/C.
Lori’s front porch is also a FUN PLACE to hang out.
She must live in TX too? I love your answer about
meeting Big Jim in 1990, and the first time you
held his hand, “it fit like a glove”. And then WHAM
20 years have flown by, and the pea is the living
embodiment of your love, and the universe’s.
I liked the typo that Paige had where she wants
to “lean more of you”. That would probably be
a hoot. Hey BB, you look great dressed like Don
Hare ( which is a funny about Don Ho of course,
but it makes it funnier that my brother-in-law
who lives near Victoria, TX, is named Don Hare.)
Hope you get to see Hawaii one of these days,
Miss Jannie. I only stopped at the airport in
Honolulu twice, going and coming from
Australia in 1977. So Melva and I are going
to spend a week in Hawaii next April 3, on

I just knew you could assemble a whole swimming pool – you are just that talented. Like IT Girl, who washed, vacuumed, and gassed up all the cars this weekend plus: washed all the sheets and towels and hung on line before 9am and leaving for the airport, and on top it all – got her father to take the pain medication for the multiple stitches in his knees from falling down jogging and get some sleep….while he was sleeping she invented peanut butter, peanut butter cup cookies with Gluten Free Flour and did the run to the Farmer’s Market where she bought flowers for all to enjoy
She even went to a movie with good old mom…
Jannie kind of talent just abides with such lovely people…
She also built the chair in the garden bathroom for her US History project in Middle School….since she has no “the child” she bought herself a wonderful camera or two along the way…and took pictures of grey hairs for Silver and Grace upcoming post…

Oh dear!! I thought you recently said that you had discontinued the use of such inappropriate language, my dear Jannie… as per Kelly’s wishes. Maybe you should just say “K. A.” for short from this point forward so as not to distress Kelly. I know you don’t want to corrupt your sweet angel. (Oh darn. Blue Bunny is already taking care of that front, isn’t he??)
BTW, you do K.A. in a major kind of way!!!
Ah Jannie. Teasing me with the dream tree house again. We had to put the tree house project on hold here. I’m afraid that little pesky things like grocery bills and paying for the “full-sized house” (you know, the one we actually live in?) need to take precedence now. Ahhh… someday!

IT Girl washed and vacuumed 4 cars and the living room…
No she did not invent peanut butter….she created peanut butter peanut butter cup ( like reeses pieces) cookies with GF flour so all could enjoy…she is talented and we do have to grind our own peanuts to make the peanut butter everyone can enjoy
I have always been naturally grey….or gray? and 3 times when I was job hunting I reverse frosted it to make it not look so senior…but I stopped doing that now.
My IT Girl is as gray as Vered…maybe more so at 31…
My brother in law invented Microwave Antennas so we could all have cell phones!
She is not old enough to have invented the wheel….but maybe Hilary will enlighten us with the history of the wheel when she gets back to blogging?
Hope her mum is doing okay…because you are a mum who is doing rather well…

And I hope you didn’t think I was in any way making fun of IT gal with my “did she invent the wheel comment?” I meant if of course, as a high compliment to her –such a dear, amazing, impressive sweet soul — like her mama. How SWEET to make 4 cars look great!! Grey / gray? Ahh, I get that mixed up too because of the Canadian / US differences. Awesome, brother-in-la! Is he still inventing? Yes, Hilary has a lot on her mind these days, yet she still breezes into all our blogs like that fun sunshine she is.

Coming late to the party as usual. Seems like I’m always playing catch up. That tree house rocks, big time. And, I sure would like a dip in that pool. It has been so hot and humid here this summer, I haven’t even seem a swimming pool much less been in one (pouts and feels sorry for herself). OK, moving on. The donut picture is great, though I’d rather just have the donut.
Good luck with your music!

Dearest Okie — hi! Sorry for the wait. You are welcome. I LOVE sharing them. Have you noticed that?
Dearest Mandy — Oh , I’m so glad you like your button. I have muchly been enjoying your blog. Looking forward to getting over there again to read what I’m sure will be another fun and interesting post!! Oh, and Mandy — you don’t mind sharing the tree house with the other 29 peeps on that want list, do you??
Dearest Snaggle – I well remember the Backyardigans show! Kelly had me be Pablo and she was Uniqua for a solid few months when she was four!! Cute show, nice songs and attitude. Beets are good!! The pot to the left of the strawberry one is actually plastic, double layered, and nice and sturdy, but not too heavy.
Two tracks down!
Dearest Linda, NEVER late to the party are you!! And look at me now, late in comment answering.
And OMG — I wish I could do nothing all day but read blogs, but that is not practical, thus I am always playing catch-up too. But I think blogging is like housework — it’s ongoing upkeep!!
But unlike house work — it’s FUN!! Pool hose cracked and broke, need to get to Wal Mart or Target for new ones. Been SO HOT here too. Umm, donuts!!!
Dearest Jingle, I am here at the library in full clothes in the air conditioning!!!
I’ll be over to see you very very soon. I miss your blog. I had a BIG-BUSY week, but hubby is out of town this weekend on a business course so I can Blog, blog, blog!!!
