The Blog Marm — a poem
Photography, Poetry | Posted by Jannie on 28 September 2010 @ 4:01 PM 44 Comments

The blog marm dispenses pencils,
some fancy with rainbows, others
plain and yellow, yet dependable.
She also makes checks in her planner
on who gets a special gold star today
and who gets a lick and a prayer.
The blog marm rings her bell after recess,
pied piping all the rosy-cheeked children
to new adventures in posts yet untraveled.
They bring her apples. And donuts. And tea.
They sit quietly at circle, wide-eyed at her tales.
They all get popsicles the last days in June!
(And there’s never homework!!)
All students are treated with equal respect,
each gets a turn beating dust from the erasers
and writing the date at the top of the board.
Don’t worry — blog marm’s ruler is not for rapping fingers,
but for measuring out yards of funsterment in the finest
of satins, silks, leathers, laces, denims, and linens
– linens as luscious as sunlight through leaves.
End of poem
xoxoxo
Speaking of sunlight through leaves…
These 3 pix are what my iPhone 3GS recently saw somewhere near Ladybird Lake here in Austin.

This blog Marm who might it be
who gives us class to set us free
Who teaches us right from wrong
will all this learning take too long
for I just want to go out and play
do I have to lesion to what they say
so no class for me I’ll bow out now
for no one reads my blog any how

Oh, oh, can I beat dust from your erasers too Jannie? Pick me, pick me, oh please do!
Ha, you fib though, as I am sure there is no dust to create when no erasing is being done. Cute poem Jannie

Dearest Daisy — you will get extra popsicles. What’re your favorite flavors?? And I like Daisy!!
Dearest Caity in New Zealand. Hi! Thanks, glad you like this simple little poem that came to me today as I was craving popsicles.
Dearest Ellis, I think quite a few people read your blog — and more all the time. I added in no homework to this post. And 90% play time, 10% work. Sound good??
Dearest Katherine, you may choose any job you want! Other tasks available are dusting my jPegs, shining up my header and waxing the floor so we all can dance.
Dearest Secret Agent Woman, I like teachers who are fair, always did, always will. And donuts make all marms happy, I think.

Hi Jannie,
I love those palms, and all the other greenery, and the brick sidewalk. You find some beautiful scenery. But then green is my favorite color.
Good evening!

Dearest Linda, the second song I’m submitting for New Folk (Kerville) starts… “Do you dream in shades of green…” I will think of you as I sing it!
Thanks, as always for your sunshiney comments.
Dearest Talon, I’ll have to get a shot of the trellis after dark as it’s full of white lights, so pretty. I always liked teachers who made sure everybody got a turn at banging the erasers!!
Dearest Jeanne, BB’s chainsaw is broken but he’s doing his best with his axe — when he’s not studying, baking cakes and practicing his Kung Fu, that is. Such a busy time of year for him! Yes, the Blog Marm even treats spammers with love.
Dearest Patricia, one of my favorite blog marms ever. Hello! Maybe someday you’ll join me on that deck for a bit of light yoga. Such a lovely place.
Dearest Snaggletooth — Shay Fireblossom had written something about a school marm recently and that got me to thinking how I like that word.
I wish the iPhone woul’ve done better justice to the lighting in the feet pic, but you can’t have everything.
Thanks for such lovely sentiments.
Dearest Cheryl — you mean my very very strange style?
And I like YOUR style of giving and grace.
Dearest Nadia — it is quite a spot indeed, and glorious with little white lights after dark. I think we all can create a spot like that with time, patience and love in our plantings.
xoxoxo
to all.
But wait — an F5 reveals the talented Ellis. Hi Ellis!! And growing by like, 1 billion new blogs a day? You rock!!! And your blog is a nice little corner to visit.

That’s a relief — now I can hang out at BWAB a little more, since I’m no longer frightened of that wicked-looking ruler Barbara wields. I’ll be back wearing yards and yards of denim and leather. And maybe spiky wristbands.

Dearest Lynn, is it ME, a blog marm?
Guilty, as charged. Then again, you are a blog marm yourself, the very best sweet kind, giving only the happiest of thoughts, photos and lessons. I could learn — and DO — from you, O Wise & Kind one.
Dearest Chris — why do you always make me laugh?? Were you the witty, cool, funny guy in school too?? I just love how your mind and spirit work! Will you be wearing your yards of leather as a toga, and your yards of denim in turban style a la Gloria Swanson??
And yes — fear not Barbara’s ruler.
Dearest Joy Holland — hi!! How lovely you should choose to grace me with yet another visit. Thank you! I’m not sure if I’ve ever delved into orange cream popsicles deep enough to be a raving fan. I did tho, for 3, maybe 3 summers a while back Totally O.D. on the Whole Foods 365 brand of lime popsicles. I wonder if I had one today would I fall off the wagon?
Really? My photos don’t suck? Yay!! External approval.
