Spaghetti Thing Revisited — a poem

Photography, Poetry | Posted by Jannie on 19 October 2010 @ 4:19 PM 37 Comments

Spaghetti Thing
Spaghetti Thing,

wherefore art thou?
Did you get munched
by a wandering cow?

They say you are gone
from our fair Austin town.

I guess too many kids
must’ve pulled you on down?

(end of poem)

Just a little post further to my one yesterday you all seemed to dig on about the Blanton Art Museum from when Kelly was 5.

And a little message from my “blogg manijir” concerning my recent cd give-away post

Yes, CD winners announced — this coming Thursday, the 21st, 5:55 Texas (Central) Time!

P.M. that is.

(6:55 in Michigan.)

(9:35 in Newfoundland, right?)

Love, Jannie.

Poor Jannie! Each child has those ambarrassing public displays at some point… You are embarrassed, they aren’t but should be n don’t know it yet!
BBM used to ask old ladies at the market if they were her grandmother! (Note she had one already)- Luckily we didn’t rob anyone’s handbag secrets! She was about 2 or 3 then-
I hope your next trip to the Blanton Art Museum is a lovely experience for you both!-

    Jannie said,

Hi Snowelf, thanks. Awesome to see you here!

Hey, Snaggle, yes, this poem took all of a minute to write — so deep. :) We might go back to the museum today, if she is willing to forego the tweentime at teh library. After all, it’s free day Thursday!

Wow, Talon! Look at your gorgeous teeth! I love how you change up your gravatar. You don’t like spaghetti, I’ll know what not to serve you.

Hi Dear Davina! Always a hightlight to have you pop in.

Hi Dear Jeanne, you are awesome. Hi Dear Jeanne, you are awesome.

Hi Dear Hilary, you are too kind as usual. I prcacticed my guitar last night but Kelly said it bugged her so I’ll have to practice today while she’s at school.

Hey, Alessandra — well, if anyone would know about pasta-making, it would be you! Did I ever mention my Greek is deplorable! And my Japanese even worse?

Hey, Eric — the Pastafarians, ha, ha, ha. Good one!

Hey, Miss Tess, even spaghetti needs some love and hugs.

Hey, Miles! We have lots and lots of pampas grass here. I know what you mean.

Daisy, I heard through the grapevine it was gone. I wonder if something else is or will replace it?

Mama Z — it IS weird, now that you mention it! :)

Hey, Caity, I’m thinking this is one of my deeper and more enigmatic poems! :)

Hey, Lane. You like spaghetti? Me too!

That’s it, Secret Agent Woman! So meditative and fun a thing to experience. I’m thinking I oughta have Jim build me one in the backyard. That is, after he finishes the floor in the front entry, and the one in the new living room. :) Oh, and the sagged board under the kitchen sink, the patch of flooring that needs sanding and re-sanding and varnishing between the kitchen and the dining room Tho I think I could handle both the latter. Yeah, that’s on my list now! :)

I loved the poem too, kind of a marriage between
a limerick and a J-35. I posted it yesterday, and
once again meant to post my comment here, but
so many distractions led me astray. I just read
one of your drop in comments over at my site,
and you mentioned I finally have made, or
rated a mention on your Sidebar of Honor.
It’s not there yet, but thanks for the tribute
and plug; unless you typed it with invisible
ink, and then only invisible people who also
    blog can see it.

BB is so nice to see you with a quill in your
blue mitt, working hard on your hare memoirs.
You have more guises than Lon Chaney on his
best day; quite the Lepus you are.

Hey, Glenn, a J-35. Is that like a cross between an Infiniti J-30 and Q-45, or what? No, seriously I don’t know what that is. That’s weird about the button. It was up and working on my end when I left you that comment, and still is. Please check the top of my sidebar again, please and thanks, the “Commenting King” one. Invisible blog ink. :) :)

Dear Kim A. Hey, I know it’s the other post, but I would’ve like to tell you you had won a cd too. And as to this comment, i liked your philosophical take on this. Balance, I hear, is here for the taking. In every moment. Your comment contains great insights!

Hmn, Alice Audrey, maybe they sent it to the Spam museum. :) Or the Guggenheim? Smithsonian? :) You might be able to get a somewhat similar effect beneath a snow-laden pine. 😉

    Aloha, ku-ka-mung-a.
