My Lucky Blue Hat

The_lucky_blue_hat

My lucky blue hat. My lucky blue hat.

I feared I might have lost it.

But I found it on the dryer yesterday.

So glad me or nobody’d tossed it.

I bought it maybe 12 years ago.

Can’t remember what it costed.

Probably about $19.99, which at

50 cents each, would buy me 39.98

delicious (untaxed) donuts, frosted.

Well, holy cow!  It’s Friday.

And that deep offering is a Friday Flash Fiction in 55 words.

For whom?

For YOUM — Mr G-Man!

FFF55s are FUN!! Post one and G-Man will pop over and comment and book, (whatever book means.)

Please note — NO FFF55 next week.

xoxo

Hey, G-Man, you sell that Impala yet? Thanks for your sweet words. I LOVE the FFF55s. Am hooked now. Hope you have a great weekend too!!

Jerry — it will CHANGE your life, I swear!! :) Oh, and for the better.

Thanks, Lynn, I do like it a lot, and I’ll do a post how the brim comes down for my cloche look, and another way of wearing it that makes me look like a spy! Wish I had your full curly hair, but the hat gets me through days when it looks extra flat. :)

Hey, Betsy, thanks. With this weird shaped head of mine, once I found a goodly shaped hat I knew I’d never be a dweeb again. :) Adventure in customer service, eh? That sounds intriguing.

Talon!! I KNOW — my life is sweet and complete now!! A hat like that is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. :)

Hey, Ellis — it was under some clothes awaiting folding on top of the dryer. But I notice on the tag I can hand wash it and air dry, which I plan to do. Yes, still blue. Bathroom lighting a bit dark in these. And antique mirror with crazed glass not so reavealing. I’ll get some sunshine shots for you guys! Wear it when I sprint up my tree. Yes, donuts .50 in bulk boxes at Randalls sometimes!

Jeanne, I was at the nadir of blue thinking my hat was somewhere and sad without me. Dontcha just love the bottom left pic best?? :) You have a great one too.

You are truly a hat person,
    that pink John Deere one,
the cowgirl one, this blue one,
    the one with the sequins,
    the one with the feathers,
    the big straw one,
    the French leather one,
    the five different colored berets,
    the bike helmet, the motorcycle
    one, the WWII steel helmet,
the Beanie & Cecil hat, still
    adorned with the propeller,
    the ten wool caps,
the Jannie Cooks It Chef hat,
    the Mrs. Santa hat,
    the elven princess hat,
    the two derbys,
    the five sports ball caps,
    the Star Trooper hat,
    and the pink one with
    the long floppy ears.

You are a goofball; kind of
    remind me of Lucille Ball,
    knock you down beautiful
    when she wanted to be,
    and an unabashed mugger
    the rest of the time.

I can just see that moment
    when Big Jim comes home,
    looks around, and says,
    “Jannie! You got some
    splaining to do!”

Oh I love to wear hats and wish they would make a return – better for our skin for sure if they did. I always wear a baseball hat when walking it keeps the glasses dry and the sun off my face!

When I was working in South Korea years and years ago, everyone wore hats…they said because of their black hair and skin cancer….I think they must not still wear hats because skin cancer is really going upwards in that country…

    Fun pictures Thanks
Yep no 55 next week…and I think I will not post on Thursday either….or something simple…

Hi Jannie .. me too – can’t wear hats .. they irritate .. and when I take them off .. my little amount of hair is smashed against my little head .. and all electrified!! However .. it does look great on thee …

But I am concerned, I’ll have to have a word with BB, about only looking on the dryer once every 12 years .. now that is worrying .. does that happen in other places around the house – perhaps the laundry is only done every 12 years?! Now that would be “fun” with a Kelly around .. let alone mechanic Jim .. doesn’t bear thinking about … I’ll go off the subject!!

Glad the hat has magically reappeared just in time for the winter .. my winter things appear in the Spring & then get forgotten again .. such is life!

Reasonable here today .. two Jasmines balancing precariously on swaying branches pigging themselves out – what do they know that we don’t?!

Have a great weekend .. and you’re off to Galveston?! Have fun .. loves from us .. and a scarf warming hug or two ..xoxo Hilree …

Dearest Jeanne, I thought that one would catch your fancy. And somewhere there’s a photo of me at maybe age 10 with that EXACT same expression on. I wonder if it’s at Mom’s house? Ahhh, next summer, I’ll be pillaging her photos for blog fodder.

Darest Eric — I shall attempt to keep the goofballness posting for your viewing pleasure!! :)

Dearest Glenn- yay, that’s two goofball descriptions in a row for me. I am so doing something great! I do love a great hat! And all you great bloggers.

Dearest Patricia — well, break the current mold and wear hats if you so fancy!! What’s to stop you? Funny, I was looking at some old pix from the 50 of a wedding in Canada, and EVERY woman was wearing a nice hat. I bet you are cute in your ball cap! Is it white with a bit green pine tree embroidered on? I’m feeling telepathic today! :)

Dearest Claudia. Me too, so glad I recovered it! I wear it a LOT in the winter.

Dearest Jennifer Susannah Devore! I can make it into a a bit of a cloche, by turning the brim down. I’ve seen you in your hats — you are s stunner in them. The Laura Ashley sounds too good to be true. I’d wear one of those, for sure.

Dearest Katherine, you sound like a very good hat role model for your young uns. Some kids are easier to “make” wear them than others. Kelly’s in a no-hat phase. Yes, better lighting for you on the hat next time! It is kind of a slate blue-grey, so your eyes did you well.

Thanks Monkey Man! Yours was outstanding, as usual.

Dearest Anne, I read your comment yesterday and have been thinking about it, think I evern dreamed about it last night. How cool — I had not thought about the Peas, Love &… idea. Hmmn, mabye he could have a little church offering plate. Peace, Love & Charity? But for now I guess he will peacefully love his souffle! And man, what a souffle he cooks up! That BB — what would I EVER do without him??? :)

Dearest KB — I am very partial to blue, yes. In my “Summer” color palette I have a bunch to choose from. Midnight deepest deepest blue is probably my absolute top color! You have the same coloring as me — bet you rock the blue, bigtime!!

Well, my dearest Daisy, I love YOUR wonderful uplifting poems. Still can’t believe you’ve dropped into my life!!

Dearest Brian, a perfect hat, like the perfect pair of pants — awesome in my life!!

Dearest Davina — hey, I just sung it to Silent Night — works great! :)

My Dearest Hilary, who perhaps has not met her perfect hat. Yes, BB has been planning and cooking so much lately for Thanksgiving he’s been letting the laundrees slip. He did sweep the floors. But getting back to my hat… it was in a basket of winter things to handwash. BB’s left it there all summer. Actually had a brilliant idea to have once closet for summer and one for winter now that they’re almost all finished out! Austin Jazmeenes having a ball too in my wine-drinking trees. I think they like this time of year. Yes, hoping to take the kiddo for 2 nights away as she has the next 8 days off school!!

Hi Dearest sweet Sheila! You are so cute you’d look great in any hat ever invented!!
