Jannie And The Wonderful, Excellent, All-Good, Fabulous Yesterday
Just Good Stuff, Photography | Posted by Jannie on 23 February 2011 @ 1:27 PM 43 Comments

The Child awoke uncomplainingly and dressed with a song and dance.
The Chick Filet drive-thru peeps filled my cup nice and full, whoohoooo — I LOVE when that happens!

By 8:20 a.m. Kelly had finished her last half mile for Marathon Kids 2010-2011. Medal ceremony this Saturday!
Next photo – winter weary friends — please brace yourselves. Live flowers ahead…

Daffodils were jumping out at drivers.

I found the EXACT black pen I LOVE, at the first place I stopped!!
Those of you who are intimate with Pilot Precise Vs know the many-spendored thrill of them.

Did a little happy dance in a store window on the way back to the car.

Sat in an Internet cafe and filled out my green card renewal ap. (Yep, $450 for that.)
Ate a bean, cheese and egg taco there — not bad.
Popped over to the P.O. and mailed my ap. Yesssssss!!!
Bloghopped a while.
Then, (sorry no visuals) ….
Ate lunch.
Met Kalyani at Jim’s shop where she dropped off her car for service.
Drove Kalyani home.
Picked up Kelly from school.
Ran a couple errands.
Took her to the Dollar Store where with her own money, of her own initiative, and with me waiting outside the store, she bought anniversary surprises for Jim and me.
We were married 19 years yesterday!!!
Went home.
Took bath.
Took Kelly to gymnastics.

Took that pic through the big plate-glass gymnastics viewing window.

Took that pic of me in the viewing area, all dressed up for our anniversary dinner!
Jim called not feeling so well (has my yuckkies from last week) to ask for a rain check on dinner.
No prob!
Went home.
We all ate good food.
I drank beer.
Kelly gave us our presents.
Green and white sparkly flowers in a plastic vase for me, and for Jim — plastic salt and pepper shakers and some pencil erasers!!!!!
I gave Jim his dollar store anniversary surprise — a collage photo frame to fill with updated family pix for his office.
And he gave me my surprise, and HOLY COW, WHAT A SURPRISE…
AN AMAZING NEW CAMERA!!!

The exact one I was saving for — $249.99, but he snagged it for $199.99 with an Instant Rebate, whooohoooo!!!
What a freaking awesome husband, child, day and universe, eh??!!!
(A new camera because the iPhone takes decent pix in only about 10% of lighting situations.)

My New Camera is so precious I can’t quite bring myself to take it out of the box yet.
But I will. Oh yes, I will.
Eventually — and probably quite soon!

Posted with love, by Jannie.
And dear Snaggle, I made these all 780px wide today, instead of my regular 790px, hoping they’ll load faster for you.
I do try to think of my friends. I really do.
xoxoxoxoxoxo
P.S. There was more fabulous excellent stuff yesterday too, but how much can you people take in one post!!?!??

Happy Belated Anniversary! Sounds like a most excellent day. My fav parts where the coffee, pen, and marathon news. I hope you thoroughly enjoy your new camera and we get to see lots of new pictures
PS I’ve been jealous of your last couple warm weather references…today it’s the flowers and remember the flip-flops from the crazy red straw post? Oh to be those feet in those sandals! I didn’t say anything, but I turned a little green…it’s snowing here…*sigh*

Happy anniversary to you and your husband! Congrats on the new camera! How cool is that!

Congratulations on your anniversary. You’ve been building memories together for 19 years, making a fantastic life for yourselves and your cute little girl. That was quite a nice gift. I’ll look forward to many more interesting shots. Hope hubby gets well soon so you can properly celebrate your big day.
Happy hump day!

Why thanks, Dear Moon — I know I must be an alright person because you are so nice to keep coming here with your wonderful words and spirit. I know I must deserve YOU too — whooohoo. Love to celebrate every moment in our marriage, how wonderful a reminder, thanks. Oh yes, and Blue Bunny, he is quite the love guy too, indeed.
Hoping he will soon update my Wordpress so I can get the new CommentLuv too. And Ooooo, thaks for the “Dusty” link, I’ll enjoy checking out how you got your name!!
Dearest Aimee, well I do try to keep our spring, early as compared to you fine Northern folks’, not so much of a bragging thing, but elements of it do slip in unavoidably to my posts this time of yeat.
But remember — I spent my first 26 years in the Home and Native Land too, so I know EXACTLY where you are coming from. If it’s any consolation to you, our current 75 F IS overcast!
Yeah — wasn’t that AWESOME on the full coffee, sometimes it’s at least 1/2 inch less than that when I take off the lid to put in the cream and sugar!!
Daisy! How COOL is my new camera — just the coooooolest thing in my material world in ages an ages — right up there with my new dish drying rack, as we still have no working dishwasher. Since you’ve followed this blog quite a while you’ve no doubt heard me pining and awaiting a good digital camera. And who cares if it’s not the $700 Canon BB has
It’s what you DO with what you have that matters! Whoooooohooooo.
Dearest Linda, yes I do hope he feels better soon too. This darn thing feels like acute allergies, and not fun at all. 19 years — I know, holy COW!! Gone so fast. And been a lovely time — most of the time. When I’m cranky n body is happy, so I try to keep that to a minimum.
Yes, I know — I have a ZOOM, MACRO, can set the TIMER for shots, will be able to adjust the camera for lighting, motion and who knows what else??? Maybe it’ll do my dishes for me too!!!!

I’m still trying to comprehend that you had to $450 to renew your green card. Good Lord I thought passports here were expensive (average cost about $175), but yours takes the cake.
Nifty camera you got there and a thoughtful pose by the cat.
On 23 February 2011 at 8:23 pm Jannie said,
Hi dearest Lynn, I know — she was so Ultimate Sweet to insist on getting us the gifts! What an angel. And Kit-kat, yes, so soft. He’d been out in the rain last night and for those pix this morning, he was so so soft. And he was purring when I took those pix. I’ll give him a hug for you.
Alice Audrey!!! I know, I know, a new camera!!!!!! I’ve been waiting so so long for a decent one. I know it’s not a pro model but I am sure I can get some cool pix with its features. I hope it won’t take me too long to learn all the ins and outs of it. Yay, yay, yay. whooooo-hoooooo.
G — I know, it’s a crazy fee, but actually a small price to pay for living in this awesome country! If I’d a had my “stuff” together, I’d've applied for my U.S. citizenship, which is about $800 I think. I was thinking my green card ran out June 2012, not June 2011. TG I looked at it recently, else I’d a been an expired Jannie, and that surely wouldn’t been a good scenario for Family Funster. I’ll tell Kitty you liked his pose!

Hey, Denise, whooohoooo. I think just a few years ago that camera would’ve cost $400 to $500, for what it does. Pretty cool when prices come down. whooooohoooo.
Hi Dear Patricia, I remember the first time I ever heard that book read aloud — I was in college and remember a gal on guitar in a coffee shop. She did a few songs, then stopped and read the book. Pretty awesome book! made me never want to own railroad pyjamas!
And okay, yesterday…. also, I got 2 pairs of reading glasses at the dollar store, I left my laptop bag at the library but got it back just fine, and I found matching socks for the morning!

Wow… the people at Funster Field sure do look like they are having lots of… fun!
Thank you for the warning about the live flowers. We’re alternating between Winter Storm Watch snow fun and worries about flooding from melted snow (don’t recall the sump pumps ever running constantly this early in the year). It’ll be awhile before I see live flowers. So, in the meantime, I can appreciate the view on your blog.
Yay for the updated green card.
Happy anniversary to you and Jim! So cute that Kelly bought surprises for you guys!
Yay for Kelly going to gymnastics and not breaking any limbs!
Yay for Jannie dressed all fancy… even if she went home rather than out.
Sorry that Jim isn’t feeling well.
Yay that Jim got you that camera you’ve been pining after!

Hi Lisa! I remember you.
Traveling Girl — the one with red kitchen accents, right?
How are you? Dude, I want to meet you for coffee!!! Let’s do it. We’re both here in same town. Yes, so lucky on the camera. I won’t be opening it for a bit tho, it appears the same exact camera is available at Costco, and with a better warranty, so we may do a switcherooo.
Yes, things really are going very well, thanks. And I hope you are too!!
bkmackenzie, well hi there! It’s always fun and a bright spot to see a new commenter just pop in out of the blue! Glad you popped in. yes — that light fixture “chandelier” thing. Is yours plastic too?? Lowe’s. $59.99, I think? I do love it tho!! We had a bright brass thing in there previously, which luckily I gave away to songwriting Joe’s lovely wife! Aint’ life grande!?! Which part of Canada is your hubby from?
Dearest Jeanne, well…. Funster Field is The Place to be in Austin! : But the cool thing about the picture is everyone had a nice smile on their face, laughing kinda on 4 of the faces. Will be fun to share via the Power Point recap in June in the auditorium. I’ve taken a few pix of MK this year. Not with my new ass-kicking camera, but okay for iphone pix. So, anyway…
You were saying……? Oh yes!
The daffodils are even prettier today! (see camera update in this reply to Lisa.) yay for the green card ap taken care of, yes!!!! No broken limbs! Yes, and I even took 20 seconds and ironed that skirt before Kelly and I left for gymnastics! Jim’s a little better now. Speaking of whom, I had this really bad dream last night that he was dead. Had died. Gone. Sadness. I’ll have to check my Dream Interpretaion site on what that could mean. I guess to appreciate him as much as humanly possible!
Hey, Thanks Snaggle who knows how to do code to make words bold! You are so html-ed!
Yes, that particular gymnastics obstacle course off to the left is used mostly by the age 3-5 set.
So cute. It’s fun that the gym is so big, up to 6 different classes may be going on at once, in all levels — the coaches rotate the equipment stations as necessary. And there is a whole Second gym on the other side of the building, for the team, which one day Kelly may want to try out for, we’ll see how it all unfolds. Yes, I am obviously very very very very very happy about the new cam, tho it’s still in the box (see just above to Lisa)
Patience builds inner peace.
Oooo, and the manual!! I think I’ll dress up, make a lovely cup of tea and sit up straight on a dining room chair beside my new flowers in the vase to start reading it!!!
Ellis, I know — I know, 19 years seeming long, but so short in the scheme. Only memories, yes. Pictures hanging in the gallery of heart and mind. Some abstract and colorful, some muted grey. Lovely times. I like the tomorrows ahead part, and after the yucky dream last night, call him bunches each day just to say hi.
Dear friends, I have not even et my brekkie yet, so I’m gonna go grab a nibble. And drink some H2O.
See ya later!

Yep, that’s me — Traveling Girl With Red Kitchen Accents!
However, much of the reason my blog writing/reading fell by the wayside for a while was because I recently relocated to Chicago (interestingly, the kitchen in the condo we’re renting also has red accents…). So I’m no longer in nice, warm Austin! It’s been a CRAZY year, but we’re starting to feel settled and we’re about to buy a condo downtown, which we’re really excited about. But I’m sure I’ll be back for a visit soon — and if you’re ever passing through Chicago, let me know!

Hi dearest Hilary. Someone in Austin Texas has part of a letter written on pretty pretty paper with real pressed flower within, with stamps already on it — some of spring blooms bursting. A gal in Britain shall be recveiving it! I don’t think we’ll run out of erasers for 100 years!!
And would you believe someone ran off with all the family pix in frames from Jim’s office. Yep. Stolen. Gone. So back to the drawing board — but with new camera pix, perhaps!! I will actually have to go down to San Antonio for another interview before new card is issued — but piece of cake! The worst is over now. Maybe I could serve Jim dinner in the treehouse sometime!! Kelly can stock up the S&P, cause Jim does like his S&P on savories. enjoy your sun!
G-Man!! That was very very nice to hear, that whole gift thing. Thank you so very sweetly kindly much! Yes, Kelly’s presents were the best part of the day.
jannie — hello.
Dearest Margaret, aka Art Star Du Jour. Did I mention I LOVE that water color!?! Is it for sale? Yep, healthy happy, amorous, anniversary men only need apply.
Well, for your button, all I did was surf your site for a picture I really liked. I reduced the part of it I thought would look good for a button to 150px wide, x 76 high. And put on the words. Oh, I used the “Buttonize” feature from my Paint Pro before words — how did I ever LIVE before buttonizing came along?!?! And to code it up takes only 5 minutes or so!
Cutie-Caity — looking cuter ever time I see you. Arrrg, Immigration documents — but so darn nice to have in hand when you need them!
What ARE your favorite pens? I for the past 15 years have cried if I’ve ever had to write with anything else than a Precise V.
Thank you, Mama Zen!! We just keep flying through the years, it seems. It’s great.
hey, Lisa, in the back of my mind I think I should’ve known about the Chicaco move, or plans for it. The time does fly. Chicago, CHICAGO — my kind of town, even tho I’ve never been there. A toddling town, I hear??
Maybe I’ll take Kelly there this summer!?? Who knows? Anything is possible in this life. Congrats on the condo! That IS exciting!!

Alice Audrey, well I did a lot of drooling looking for cameras online these past few months, checked a lot of reviews and such, and for my price range I thought this one really packs a whallop. The $650 Nikon range might be nice to explore, but seriously — I think I can probably really make it work great, what convinced me was seeing a lot of photos folks’ had taken and uploaded — both macro and further away. And medium distance, and such!
Brian!! I still cannot believe that I so common a human entity could be blessed with such a day and evening. I’ll probably never be able to get over it!
