Dearest Aimee, did you break out your bike for the season?
Dearest Daisy, I had a lovely Sunday. Swept 3 floors and washed my hair1
Dearest Vered. Thanks! Yes, a lovely weekend, and a little songwriting this morning. I’m always inspired after the weekend when I get my alone time again.
Dearest Glenn, wow a newborn. That makes 4 grand kids now? Yes, I’ll try to ensure future videos are a little more in focus!
Dearest Jeanne — ah thanks. I like my vocal tone better in this one that the first one I posted. Worked a bit more on chords for this today. Your name comes in on the first E minor of the whole tune — special you!!!
Dearest Snaggle, and hopefully I’ll be a grandma one day too! See you Wednesday from a fast computer!
Dearest Jo — I’ve come a looooong way with my singing — Imm almost as good as you now. Yep, you’ve heard me at my worst, and now I’m getting better. Are you and I FB friends? I usually steer clear of it, cause I’m afraid of spending hours and hours on there and not washing my dishes ever again. Those backflips were about a year ago. I’ll have to post an update — she’s so much stronger now. Did Michael Jackson climb trees?? I WILL go on your FB and see you and yours in all your amazing glory, whooooohoooooo!!!
Dearest Galen, I like that name Jannabelle, thanks. And YOU more than rock too.
Hi Jannie .. love the banana seat bicycles .. gosh those days of freedom .. of just expaliering our limbs as we free-wheel around .. or career down a hill with the wind rushing past .. and where are all those girls who used to fly down the street .. bypassed us down the paths through the woods to pastures new on streets elsewhere ..
Enough of snow this year .. love it and let me know how ebay goes ..
Great song .. and the acoustics are fun coming to us from the tree house ..

that was so great. i loved my banana seat bike with the monkey handlebars and a playing card stuck in the spokes…zipping along the Roller Coaster Hills in Lakewood (there was no “lake”)
Oh Jannie that song is fantastic, I love the freedom it conjures up — on the banana seat bicycles, and the song is lighthearted in tone, sung from the viewpoint of sitting in a tree house with being up high in the sky and the freedom that comes with it. I confess I listened to you sing it a couple of times.

Hi Jannie — okay, this one just screams show tune. It’s wistfully sung by the main character’s grandfather about the girls of his youth, after the boy’s father tells him that he can’t be in the bike race or something like that because he has real man’s blue-collar work to do like coal mining (a la Billy Elliot). It’s kind of like Quicksilver: The Musical, but the plot doesn’t matter that much, as people will really pack the aisles because it’s a Jannie “jukebox show.”
Hey, Hilary, do you do much eBay? I think I’d need a nice BIG banana seat bike, tho. Womansize, not for a 6-year-old. And wow — I never heard this word before. — expaliering. will Google!
Hey Joey — you thought I’d pull a Kelly with her Silent Night songbook flung afar?
Oh my goodness, Debbie. You just ooze awaesome words. Thanks.
Ah KB — glad the song started your day nicely. My singing teacher always used to say the fast way to raise the energy in a room is to sing.
Ah, Jennifer Sussannah — your new site sounds just AWESOME!! So exciting. Oh, and so sweet to inclue me in your links. You are too too much. (But I love it. And you.) Next time you hear this I’ll be playing guitar too. whoooohoooo. I am finding I do have to learn my songs a capella to really “own” all the notes. Sounds funny, but it’s the way it works with some tunes for me.
Hey J.D. ! I remember you comparing me to Edie once before and I am very honored at the comparison. She’s great!
Hey Jo! I’ll be sure to confirm your wonderfulness on FB and look at your photos, whoooohooooo. I want to put more photos on my page there. And maybe sped up to 30 minutes a day on there too. What do you mean beautiful AGAIN?? you are ALWAYS beautiful, no matter your hair or the clothes you wear. If all goes as planned I’ll be cashing in a little investment in Canada this summer to put a nice lump sum towards the cd — it will take about $4000 to record with bass etc. And the FIRST cd will soon be on its way to YOU. Yep, getting me arse in gear, bit by bit.
Hey Aimee. I know you were up there. I want a bike. But I want new inline skaates too, and I do love flying on the latter the most.
Hi Barbara — always AWESOME to see you. Glad you got to pop by on a singing post. This song may rock yet — you never know until the recording starts. I hear some lone wailing guitar.
Thanks Mama Z. watch it twice and there’s your encore.
Hey Paige — I’ve heard of many lakewoods that have no lake. What’s up with that?? Oh, I can’t wait to hear this with bass and drums!!! I LOVE WRITING AND RECORDING SONGS!!!
Ah, thanks Alice Audrey. have you heard my “Bones.” Not quite so sweet or ethereal. I’ll send you a free MP3 of it!!
Joanny — you are just the type of lovely artsy whimsical lady to like a song like this. Oh Honey, worry not about being away blog-wise. funster friends are ever in my heart!!
Dearest Lovely observant and astute Moon. You GOT it!!!!!! It’s us indeed. Oh, you are so smart! And guess what?? I’m gonna post another new song sooner than later. just go for it and share with you all!!
HIlary — I sent a lady a letter. It flew across the sea. And boy were its arms tired when it reached its destiny. The letter was also involved with beer, candy, pansies, painted toes and Chinese food!!!
Chris!!! You of sonwriting soul have impressed and inspired me completely !! I LOVE it!! I have not thought too much lately about my musical, but that could totally, totally beakey scene in the show. And yes – I do tend towards show tune type lyrics, scenes you can see!!
Hey Secret Agent Woman, you have to be careful with bare feet in Texas summers, of course. But up North going without shoes was easy — except in the hot wharf tar. And in freshly-cut hayfields, ow.
Hi Jannie .. I made the word up .. should have been espaliering our limbs .. that’s better – spelled right ..not sure it’s a word, but sounds good!
Ebay .. no I don’t – could do with some lessons sometime!!
Your letter certainly went round the town visiting all possible selling places .. but eventually arrived at its rightful destination .. after beer, pansies, candy, painted toes (not here!) and Chines food .. I thought it was tacos .. oh well Austin must have some secret places .. see you soon .. cherry bye .. ooh almost asparagus time – delicious! Hilree xoxoxo
I do like this song alot, Jannie! I almost guessed your tune from the lyrics here before too- It really reminds me of my childhood… you should be selling alot of these cds- Good job
I had a pony and later a horse. Did FINALLY get a ten speed when I was a senior in high school. But NEVER a banana seat bike. Oh, HOW I longed for one (and also knee high zip up boots in the ’70’s but that is a gripe for another day. Yes, my childhood wasn’t quite complete.
… would a 45 year old woman look funny on a banana seat bike? ;P
Oh hi 3 ladies. So glad I checked in her. Hilary — I’ll help you with ebay — so easy!!
Hey, Snaggle, fellow songwriter, yes you would guess the melody, or at least the changes, and such. Bravo!! I am excited about the new reordings, going back in a few weeks, to lay down 3 new songs, and hopefully do 3 good vocals!!
Hi Margaret!! Nope, a 45-year-old woman would look PERFECT on a banana seat bike!! Ill soon be 47 and aim to look STUNNING on one in a fuzzy bikini.
