The Most Beautiful Soaps I’ve Met Yet

Just Good Stuff | Posted by Jannie on 29 March 2011 @ 12:02 PM 37 Comments

I order 4 Aventine Hill All Natural & Organic Handcrafted Soaps, and receive 5.

Plus, a cute little basket,

3 soaps in a “keeper” bag as a surprise for my daughter,

and a note, with lovely penmanship!!

Is that FREAKING AWESOME, or what!??!

The Child says “Oh, they’re so beautiful, I’ll never use them. I’ll just keep them to look at.”

I say “I can’t fully bask in the glory of these new soaps until we completely remodel the bathroom!!”

(But I will bask in them, starting today, now that the photos are taken.)

Yes, Sheila of the fabulous Ma Vie Folle blog and her equally wonderful Zensational Living site and I have been blogging buddies for quite a while now, so she’s extra nice to me,

but friends, — I gotta tell ya,

these soaps make me want to…

dance on cruise ship decks to the tune of her “Sun Salutation,”

roll every inch of me on the satin sheets of her “Lotus Blossom,”

warm myself by the bonfire glow of her Dune Grass,

welcome the first greening of spring on a dusting of her “Misty Moss,”

and cavort in fields of her “Oatmeal & Honey Goatmilk.”

I am NOT kidding on the exquisteness of  Aventine Hill soaps.

When I’m an old lady, somebody please keep a basket of these by my e-z-up chair next to my computer, so their aroma will remind me of all the joys of my youth, okay? (Thank you.)

And of course, a big part of my soul wishes to keep her Namaste yoga collection forever on our dining room corner shelf, because the labels match so well.

But I like them in the bath best!

Sheila of Aventine Hill Bath Emporium also hand crafts additional bath and body products.

Now… the Misty Moss with a whisper of pink cedarwood is calling my name.

So gentle my face loves it too.

They’re very nice and are packaged quite nicely, but I’ve seen far prettier ones than those, Jannie, ones far too beautiful to actually use – more like decorations than actual soaps. (I’d use these soaps, no problem)

    Just sayin’ :)

just a quick additional thought for the moment…

they ARE exquisitely beautiful too, a magical fest for the eyes when the wrappers are off. I look forward to showcasing that in a future post, one to be photographed by an ocean, on the moon — or in our Botanical Garden. (which are all as lovely.)

off to walk along the Trail with Kalyani now…

Dearest Vered, and looks do not deceive with these luscious treasures! And the fragrances really give me a lift.

Dearest Mama Z — no WAY, that is so cool. Can I come visit and see yours and we’ll eat petit fours off it!! 😉

Dearest Olivia, your comment is fantabulous!! :) And how lovely these flowers are in bloom at the same time as your sidebar button is still up top. They’ are called verbena. They can take a LOT of heat and drought and keep coming back in our climate. I took those pix last week outside the library the SAME day of my “Trouble in Red” photos!! Your current post and shell collection sound very intriguing and uplifting, even tho I’ve not yet seen your post! Sheila is some one I have a great deal of admiration and respect for as a human, as well as being in love with her Aventine Hill products. Oh, shoot it’s hard not to be a bit self-obsessed with blogging, eh? We do tend to spend a lot of time on it, if we wish to. I LOVE it tho, blogging!

Dearest Aimee — I am not actually totally kidding about the bathroom remodel. I’d love to take a sledgehammer to the old tile, but another area of our sphere in the state of undone would probably not behoove my best zen energy at this point. :)

Dearest Lynn, yes, as much as I am a fan of you and your blog, I am a fan of Sheila, and her lovely wares made with rays of sunshine and laughter!

Dearest Eric, So much beautiful art exists to see and enjoy in this world! I shall have to also show you the exquisite visual feast of the soaps without their wrappers. So pretty, Kelly and I like to just sit them on pretty plates and breathe in their beauty with our eyes. Yes, the basket is so cute! Wasn’t expecting that cute little thing. So happy!

Dearest Sheila, yes, please use any photo. I could also photoshop the basket and soaps in the first pic onto most any background you would like, say, mountains, beach, forest, savannah, tundra, waterfalls, more flowers, or a sweeping herd of wildebeast. beest?

Dearest Glenn, nope, it was in the bathroom at our beautiful new library. In retrospect — I could’ve used a more beautiful mirror locale. But anyway… the post is up. yes, camping was the BEST one yet. Fun, fun, fun. We had a 15-minute rain and hail storm on Saturday afternoon, which livened things up a lot. I slept in my SUV this time, instead of pitching a tent, and actually had a bit of decent sleep. And Kelly honored her promise to help me with the setup, and clean-up, that boosted my mood beautifully.

Hi Dearest Daisy — yes, the fragrances are most transportational, if that’s even a word. :) Sheila has hair soap too, I’d like to try that.

Dearest Hilary, Oh, thanks, on the nice words on the photos. It was my second photo shoot, actually 3rd if you count the one with the iPhone in the corner cabinet when I first opened the box. My good camera, which I had just gotten was having a bit of a battery charge was temporarily out of commission. But the iPhone did not a bad job — and funny thing — once I got the camera charged up I never could get the soaps to stand up again! :) Nope, Jim talks about remodeling the bathroom, which we actually remodeled about 10 years ago. :) But other projects await! :) Speaking of which, I want to make a bit of a to-do list for Jim on that respect, boards needing replacing and such. That’s the thing about wood… Oh, and I did get it to 55 words!! The post that may be of special interest to you. Love and cheers to YOU too!! And to your mom, and the gang.

Jannie my dear & bestest penpal – How was the camping…

Just love ya new pics & really wish that I could sniff their wiff, then sniff & wiff you after you’ve used them 😀 I’m a shower gel kinda girl myself & sanctuary is my fav :)

As I write I’m gobbling down some curry flavoured rice, strangely its very nice 😛 this a rule I made up myself, in other words I can, they can’t :) I love my rules & I think they are the best thought out rules in this house hold & that’s, that…

I think you should know that I dislike dried fruit, its not normal & it feels strange in my mouth & I feel much better for telling you this 😛

On are next long journey in your home town I would like it if we could sing “Someone like you” by Adele… Oh how happy I will be, in fact I will be buzzing just like a buzzy bee 😀

Dearest Alice Audrey, if I’d a been thinking straight, I’d a made this a giveaway post for a couple of the soaps. Duh, Jannie. So, I’ll do that in the near future. Maybe next Friday. Yes, thanks on the email, I’ll be on GMail later today, I hope.

Dearest G-Man-abel, yep! I do love my baths, and soaps. Sheila has beer soap too!

Dearest Talon, BB is particularly fond of the Dune Grass and wears a little chunk of it on a string around his neck.

My Dearest PenPal Jo!! Camping was the most divine ever. It was our 8th caming trip with the school, and the best. Kelly helped me set up and clean up a bit. A lovely hail storm cooled us off from 95 degrees on the Saturday afternoon and created some excitement. Kelly was so happy with her new hammock. I drank lots of wine, one margarita and only fell over a log and got bruises on my legs once. Jim came for the Saturday potluck dinner and had fun. And the coffee was the BEST ever, love my camping morning coffees.

Now, I believe I still have a few comments to answer from my “trouble In Red” post, and maybe more comments that arrived on a couple previous posts.

These are beautiful soaps. Too bad, blogging hasn’t reached the point of allowing a “scent” widget so we could smell them. I’ll just use my imagination.

My favorite part of this post is where you say that with these beautiful soap, you might have to remodel your bathroom. What’s another room to remodel, anyway!!

Your plates look like exactly like the plates I grew up with. We ate dinner off of them all of my childhood. Is this an old pattern?

Dearest Lovely Sara from the moonlit shores, I know! I’ve wanted a scent widget for a long time now. One for brownies baking, would be nice. :) Yep, what’s one more remodel — which will actually be a remodel of the remodel!? Yes, I believe the Desert Rose IS an old pattern, but these plates were made in the early 90s. :)

Dearest Lovely Dot from the cherry blossom way — soaps, scents can take us to lands far far away. I LOVE them! and these are scrumptios indeed!!

Andy!! I LOVED your swimming to Tesco / pub poem. Me too, will take a nice pub any day over the grocery store, preferably a pub with great fish and chips and lots and lots of laughs within.

Hi Dearest Snaggle, ummm, products suited to men’s preferences? You mean in Sheila’s line, or in general? So sorry you are allergic. Not fun. Allergic even to the all-natural stuff? I remember being VERY scent sensitive when I was pregnant with Kelly — it was freaking hell.

Dearest Secret Agent Gal — just tellin’ it as my heart and nose see and smell it! :) And please don’t tell anyone, but I sleep with a cake of her Lotus Blossom under my pillow!

Dearest Patricia from Ladybug Lane!! Yay, you got a letter with ladybugs on it!!!!!! So glad to hear that, I was going to e-mail today to see if it had arrived. And happy to hear your social calendar is filling up, hanging with good people is one of the joys of life indeed. Yes, Kelly was so sweet. And I remember her oooing and ahhhing over the soap the first time I bought some too.

Darling Dearest Daisy, you are welcome!! And yes, my week is going fan-freaking-tastic! Doing great guitar work, exercising some and my hair looks nice and clean.

Hey Dearest Aloha Cloudia — thanks on all counts. My old red blouse and my good-used-new velour stratch pants do look not bad together. :)

Dearest magical Magic Eye, yes, — especially the part about rolling on the satin sheets of her Lotus Blossom, eh?? :)

Darling, beautiful, wonderful Moonie!! yes, her stuff is amazing. I highly recommend it. And she often offers deals and such, on her already-reasonably-priced heavenly wares.
