My favorite songwriter, Kelly, now owns one of the Play Me Austin art pianos that were placed all ’round The Trail this spring!!!!
DONATED to her!!
Someone at her school heard we were in need of a piano and lo — the angels descended.
Here’s what she’s been playing on for 2.5 years since she began lessons… my olde Casio I got about 14 years ago.

Directly above was Thursday morning.
Real Piano arrived Thursday afternoon.
Took the other pix earlier today.

Hey — do you see my reflection in the photo just above??!!

We are very very freaking happy with this whole piano turn of events!!!!!
WhooooooooooHooooooooo.
xoxoxoxooxxooxoxoxoxox
P.S. As you may have guessed, knowing our funstering Kelly, it was her idea to sit up there like that.
And I’m glad she did!
HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND, y’all!!

Congrats on the new piano! I like it’s wild decorations!
I have a piano, but it’s in storage. I miss it, n have an even smaller cheapo keyboard! BBM broke the good elec one we had. Does Kelly play “Heart & Soul” with you yet?
Funny titles! “Resisting My Dishes Again” would make a great country tune!

Dearest Ayala, thanks a lot! Happy weekend to YOU too.
Dearest Daisy, and that thing is HEAVY, took 3 guys and a big dolly to get it in.
Dearest Hilary, the lap of the gods indeed. Her piano teacher’s been saying for a year she really needs more keys. And pedal. And we’d been looking at some used pianos. I still can’t believe our amazingly good fortune, especially since it’s an older piano and supposedly better made than most of the newer uprights.
Dearest Snaggle, I never did learn my part on Heart & Soul with her. I think I’ll stick to guitar.
This one was an old player piano the guts were removed from. And it’s almost in tune! Yes, the song titles, just silly mostly, passing thoughts. And FUNNY to me you mention the Resisting My Dishes one — it’s the one I’m actually working on a bit now and the melody is jazz-y!

So how does the piano sound? It looks very cool. How nice of someone to donate it to a burgeoning pianist. Enjoy your weekend! PS I posted a little song on my blog — been a long time since I have, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Dearest Hilary, well we had an opportunity to buy a piano a couple weeks ago we said no to, and ended up with this blessed one. Donated, and Jim bartered for the moving. Funny, but after I decided not to go with the other piano I was walking The Trail with my 3-lb weights a pumping and 2 of the dads from the school ran past, one saying “Talk to me about a piano tomorrow.” And I did, and lo, it was decreed the next day by another school dad who was a co-organizer of the whole piano event. He said there is a cool video of Marcia Ball playing the piano on the Trail. She’s a pretty-famous blues pianist. And yes, I did trill today! 20 minutes voice excersises while doing my dishes. Finally stopped resisting them. after 3 days.
Hey, Dearest Alice Audrey, yes, and she held that position for quite a while until I got into a good position. She just moved up from level 2 to level 3 in gymnastics!!! She’s so happy. And she should be. She’s really paying attention to her coaches and trying her best. She’s got her sights set on team when they come over to “recreational” and scout for new recruits. I’m sure she’ll make it. And I say to her as long as gymnastics is fun for you and you want to do it — go for it. We “quit” Kung Fu tho, and I think I’m mostly over the guilt of that.
Hi Dearest Aimee — so, you like “I’m So Glad My Rash Is Fading!!!”
And it WAS a joy to see that cream start taking hold!
And ““You Drive Me Up The Wall On A Regular Basis, But I Still Love You A Lot…” that came to me yesterday about Kelly. Kids, eh? They’re always asking for EVERYTHING!!
But I’m actually thinking it might make a great country song, but I think a better title would be to substitute “But I Still Love You The Most.” at the end. You think so? AWESOME on you posting another of your songs. Good for you on doing that! I’m sure I will enjoy hearing it a lot! And wondering if you showed your lovely presence singing it again.
I only show me on video when my hair is looking cute.

Dearest Sheila of the Car Driving Hills, “Piano Grafitti, I see it there. Piano Grafitti, it got such flair. And what is a grafitti guy, but a human like me? All of us equal, no matter our art spree.” Sorry, the best I could do for a jannie-on-the-spot lyric. It’s got some art on the back too, took photos with my iPhone when the guys were moving it in. 3 strapping invididuals in a big big truck.
Dearest Cloudia, well, what a welcome surprise to have you pop in! I bet you’ve got some tasty posts up, as you always. And I hope you have danced under the Hawaiin stars tonight. And if not, be sure to tomorrow night. And I will too. Dance under them in TX, that is.
Dearest Katherine, I wonder where your parcel is tonight? In a silent warehouse where the crickets are listening to the moon? Down by a river in a van? Hanging in a hangar? So much excitement to think about for it. And very interesting you mention “Yay, I Found A Sock.” It is a melody that may never leave my psyche. And OMG, OMG, funny you and Snaggle both singled out Resisting My Dishes, which is, of the 10 the one I’ve been working on most today! Getting a feel for the flow of the melody really, got quite a few lyric ideas as it’s a subject I really really really know about!!!
So my next studio session coming soon will probably be “Jazz Night.” as I’m also bring in “You” then. BEen working more on “Me” but Dishes is pulling in front for studio-preparedness. funny how last studio session I took in my waltzing tunes, well one in 3/4 and the other 6/8 and tho there is slight difference between the two, they have a definite similarity too. And that’s my little music revelations for today. :0
Actually, tonight. Jannie is up late partying by her self as there is NO SCHOOL tomorrow, as you may know for “us folk” down here in the U.S. yonder.
But I’ve rambled enough…

Dearest Hilary (with typos now removed from this…)
– I am still up! No school for Kelly tomorrow so I’m enjoying a nice quiet late house all to myself here at the moment. Soon I will hit the hay, tho. And listen to my “dailies,” my iPhone recording of song bits I’m singing. That new one “Resisting My Dishes” is forming more, but still a bit nebulous in parts, which is fun to see how it develops. Still have not set on a key yet, still noodling and experimenting with that song’s sections. Fun!!
It would be interesting to see where the other pianos go and who will play them. I have a great shot of Kelly on the one in my bench area. Wish now I’d gotten around to more of them. Oh well — we can’t do it ALL! But the Universe knows its plan for us. Like the other day…
I bumped off the counter one of the 2 glass jars I was keeping the largest utensils in, and it smashed to bits. Which left me with just one, but the truth is, that part of the counter looks less cluttered now and allows more room for the dish drying rack. And the utensils I use the least went back into a drawer! See, the olde Universe working its magic to make all whole and ahppy.
With love from jannie
xoxoxoxooxo
Oh and not that you or anyone asked but… speaking of my iPhone recordings, it’s fun to go back through the older ones to hear bits of these songs in their less developed stages, see how they have taken shape along the way. I then delete the obsolete ones. And go along my merry way.
xoxox
Good Night! And just Good Morning to you where you are.

Hi Jannie .. “Resisting doing the dishes” – sounds like it should start with a sharp glass splatter and tinkle around a tiled floor as the lead in .. you could go Greek at that stage and start throwing the plates for more surreal effects before you dive in and give the song some real polish and drying off.
Tinkle Tinkle little star ….
Good idea to listen-sleep .. they say night-time is the best for new ideas and filtering ..
Sleep tight .. and lovely hearing from you at this unearthly hour – well fine for me now it’s 8.25 am … big hugs for the week ahead .. Hilree xoxoxo

“might make a great country song” — LOL! It would! Show my presence? Oh no, no, no…I think I look funny when I sing. I’d be way to self-conscious. Maybe when I’m fully “enlightened” and stop caring about trivialities such as appearance. BTW, I think your hair rocks.

Dearest Hilary!! I am so happy. I’m writing “Dishes” in G, and when I hit that Bm7 about 30 minutes ago, all heaven broke loose. Yessssssss, I LOVE writing songs!!
So excited I’m making more coffee!! And geez, I like your sound effects ideas a lot! Don’t wanna do the dishes, just smash ‘em. Maybe landfill for the sinkhole out back if it returns. Ye olde fissure. Mother earth so full of surprises. I am a bit disapppointed in me that I accidentally erased a snippet that had a nice bit of melody in it. Oh well, there’s that Universe again leading me in light!!
Oh yes, and just waking too, good for filtering, or I guess non-filtered thoughts.
And I did go to bed right after I posted that last reply to you. I think?
LLCoolJOE, Dearest of International Jet-Setting Fame… Hey, ya — great country song, I think!??!!
Ahh, so many songs, so little wine.
just kidding, just kidding — always wine and love aplenty. Did I mention that piano is HEAVY!??! TG that’s a great spot for it — that’s where it will stay until (if ever) we move from this house.
Aimee — I’d rather not show myself at all.
Yeah, you’re right, my hair is not bad. And the bald patches filling in, I think. I am seriously thinking of going to the dentist, tho — it’s been 7 years. Get a little “beautifying” here and there on me chompers. Too bad dentistry is not FREE!!!!!
Oh yeah –how does the piano sound? Yeah, sorry! Lovely bottom end. Needs a tune tweak, so we’ll know more after on that. if I could find a srew driver I’s take off those 2 bits of wood screwed on so it could not be opened on The Trail. Yes, Jimmy where did you put that screw driver THIS time???!? (See song Title 10 on that last sentence.)
I think all singers go through a growth period when they eventually get over not liking what they look like when they sing. I’m still working wiht that a bit, I guess it’s the olde afraid to show what we perceive are our imperfections. But… think of singers like Taylor Hicks, Joe Cocker, and Dave Matthews. I think of them when I worry about showing who I really am to the masses.
And that helps me realize I’m the only one being critical of me. Can you think of any women singers who get all contorted like those 3? Streisand maybe? Sometimes? Who else? Ones with great pearly whites, tho.

I would personally take the country-song parenthetical approach to some of these titles — for instance, “All I Really Want Is A New Pair Of Pants (And Someone To Come And Do My Dishes).” But then again, I think the parenthetical portion is supposed to render the first part wry or ironic, like so: “I Need A New Wife (Because My First One Didn’t Drink Enough For My Taste).” Okay, so I’m not quite ready for Nashville.

Dearest Chris who is most likely much more ready for Nashville than you think. Speaking of Nashville, did you know that only, like, 1 in 10,000 songs written for country singers end up being recorded? And that Bruce Springsteen records only 1 in 4 he writes? And that free pianos are good!!
Dearest Glenn of the wandering hills… putting out all this positivity is a must for me, so chew me out if my posts ever start getting cranky, umkay??
I think the Universe was cheering for us in this one indeed! Yes, indeed I think this piano CAN be tuned. Luckily we know someone…
Dearest J.D. of the Washington Waves… YES, on all you said! I’m thinking the two tree / beer songs could probably be combined into one epic adventure! Possibly one where a whole party congregates up there and we jump from the tree to the roof and start dancing.
Dearest Lynn of the Misty Meadow, I don’t think Elton John even has one as decorated. majorly, majorly cool, yes indeed. Let me be ever apprecitive of this gift that will allow Kelly to share her gift with the world. perched atop yes, and no broken bones!!
yay!!

Ok, so I’m looking at the splendid photos of the beautiful Kelly on the magnificent piano & either I’ve gone cuckoo or you’ve had a rearrangement around the house, cuz that piano is in wot was ya bedroom!!! And where as the hall way gone??? Also I can see ya kitchen door way & ya lounge, but wasn’t there a bathroom of some sorts there… Help me I’m confussed.com :~/ Then I’m thinking about the dream I had that Jimmy had built a castle for his princess, that being you of-course… So did my dream come true??? I know it did!!! And I know Jimmy is good, but how the hell did he do all this in 1 week
How was this possible
Kelly sure does have some great muscle tone in them there legs of hers, she must be amazing at her gymnastics, how I wud love to come & see her swinging, flipping & flopping away
This past weekend as been a bank holiday, which means most people get to have the monday off from work as well as the sunday!!! Andy & I drove down to Devon in our rather gorgeous campervan, the weather was very kind to us & we had sunshine the whole time (except at night) We did loads of walking & plenty of supping of vodka & chillaxed… The only thing that was a negative was in the middle of the night I needed to pee, but I was scared to walk to the toilet block in the dark, so I had to do it in a bucket (now called the piss pot LOL) but I’m assured every one does this from time to time, but they just won’t admit to it
Well thats what Andy told me anyway…
Today I’ve been to the hospital with my daddy-o, he needed to have a few x-rays, hopefully its not anything too serious
We then went into Shrewsbury & sat by the river with the puppy & people/watched for a while…
Then I went to get my toe & finger nails done, I’m bright purple at the moment with silver diamanté on & thats because I feel like being a flash git & I love erm, they are cool…
Oh… While I was away I went into a walled rose garden, some of the plants were very old, it smelt divine & I thought of you while I sat there sniffing in the scent, you wuda loved it & you wuda got some really good photos…
Love ya & miss ya chick-a-booby xoxoxox
