tequila_afternoon

Let’s hear it for Three Margarita Moms
today taking the spotlight away from their
daughters featured here, here & here,

the Margarita Moms who laughed in
the cool of the pool, then floated 37 steps
to a table in the soon-to-be sunset scene,
the kids off doing things kids in lakes do.

Let’s also hear it for friends everywhere
who make time to get together and laugh.

~~~ end of poem.
both photos snapped by a lovely beer-ing stranger at the next table.
Please come join us at the lake!! ANYTIME!!
And a shot of the pool with lake in the background…
Summertime Jannie, who is going now to do her dishes, then rehearse with Mardi for an Open Mike tomorrow.
This will be my third Open Mike Week in a row! My plan is 52 a year.
Then Letterman and Leno!
whoooohooooo.
    One open Mic per week, you say?
    Honing your skills, putting it all
    out there, warbling and bra-flinging
    midst the blue smoke of different
    audiences, different hearts for you
    to touch, different smiles for you
    to gather like Texas clover to ring
    your mush and morning toast.
    Dearest Daisy — I used to get really nervous about open mikes, now I just go with the flow and it really IS fun, the people you meet are a real hoot, and so many nice ones. Still can’t believe I’m so lucky.
    Dearest Brian, and friendship time is one of the best investments I can think of. That and an $18 hat I have my eye on. So hoping there’ll soon be a sale at Claire’s so I can snap it up.
    Dearest Ayala, it was kind of an impromptu gathering, and Hubby called on his way down to see if he could pick up anything and I was like well… could you please pop in to Twin Liquors for some Cuervo and mix. 20 minutes later, we were imbibing!
    Dearest Patricia, you are welcome ANYtime, tho this Texas heat is a might hotter than your lovely state with much rain. Yes, it was time the moms were front and center in a post! I’m glad I asked the beer lady to take a couple pix!
    Dearest Glenn, yep putting it all together music wise. I’ve been busting my butt to get things ready for the studio and getting better at guitar in the process. Time to fly. I think the bra flinging will indeed be a highlight of my O.M. act!!! :) :)
    Toodles, my good buddies…
    Friends, fun and margaritas, too. A good time was had by all I’m sure. That scenery is lovely. I love spending time by the water, be it lake, river or most especially the ocean. Just got back from Minnesota where I saw the Mississippi and Saint Croix Rivers, along with several lakes. All gorgeous. Enjoy your open mike night!
    Hi Dear Aimee, yes I am hoping for some more of all those elements this Friday or Saturday night. And I’ll have to buy a memory card for my camera before then — I feel some wild photo opportunities will arise! :)
    Yo, Steve-o. Well… I have a few videos of me up here playing a couple shows. http://www.janniefunster.com/videos/ Click there at your own risk! :) And let me know if I owe YOU some donuts! And a Starbucks. :)
    Hey, Alice Audrey, if you live in our neighborhood you are automatically grandfathered in to be eligible to join. They cap it at 400 families, but with the low economy we got right in — and for free because Jim is over 65, whooohooo. Yes, nice and clean — Austin is full of green freaks, and that’s a fine fine thing.
    Hey, Hilary, I had Kelly and one of the girls down yesterday, and I dozed off at the pool. They’d had a sleep-over the night before and they plum tuckered me out. But then I jumped up, went home, showered, got all cute and made my Open Mike just fine. I played 11tth of 17 performers, and they were still coming up after I left. Quite a party! I played drum for Mardi and I totally sucked — but it was FUN~!!!
    Yes, Dear Jo — it was high time I slipped out from behind the camera to be in front of it. The lady who took the pic did the first one fast because she had to go pee (That’s the one where we are further away.) She had more time, nice and refreshed from her loo break to get in close on the second one. :) Notice Kalyani and I had been sitting facing the water before we hopped over to pose? We loves the lake — prefect place for kids to be funny entertained. Just feed them once every few hours, and all is good to go. :)
    Lynn, my Dearest — but it is I who is lucky to bask in YOUR reflected glow and glory! That being said, shall I mention your blog on Leno? You up for a little site traffic boost?? :)
    Jannie! Your new song “Married Lady” is going to kic major ass, I do humbly so say to myself.
    I heard it’s Hotter than Patooties in TX this week! Good for you keeping cool. A pool next to a lake seems a bit redundant to me- i\I’d think Lake is more fun. but prefer salt water to both! I only toe-dipped today myself. Will be hot later in week while working-darn!
    Would you believe I’ve never had a margarita?
    Hope you break a leg or 2 for open mike time. Always fun to get out there. I’d like to stop working nights so I could get out more. Tues n Weds are too tame around here-I take it it was a week-end?
    Hi Dearest Sheila, you got that right — hot as Hades, yet refreshing in the cool of that pool, and the Lake even colder, about 70 degrees year-round. We’ll head down there later today for a few hours, before gymnastics. I actually have a bit of sun on me this year, as in tan. Damaging my precious skin.
    Dearest Sara of the Willd & Wonderful hills… I forgot I’m in studio early next week, and will move my next Open Mike to the Friday, next, a place called The Fair Bean, and I WILL have my newest song “Married Lady” ready to perform that night. So excited about that new tune. You are welcome for the plumbers crack crack. :) :)
    Hi Dear Linda, I have never been to Minnesota but would dearly love to! And pop pver to Wisconsin to visit Lance of The Jungle of Life. I think I like the ocean best too, like you and Snaggle do. And I remember Dylan singing about the DeLaCroix River. That kind of like the Saint Croix? The Saintly Cross, I do believe that translates to.
    KALYANI!!! Dearest Fellow Flanker of Much Beauty, it was a most lovely evening, and boy, do I have to call you — there was an R. Sighting Tuesday night at the O.M. I saw him. You’re having your “Kid week,” maybe you can come back over Friday or Saturday. Will by tequila. Can you please bring the ice again?
    Dearest Paige of such wit and wisdom. Yes, indeed, poor Mike was fileted by a rabid horny nutria — a jealous one who th9ought Mike was after his woman nutria. But anyway, Mike was well stitched up by docs and is back on the music circuit again. Yes, smiling is good! I did some of that indeed at the O.M. And I think I even laughed once or twice.
    Dearest Patricia, I hope you have a designated driver after that wild lemon Patricia beverage?? :) :) Getting your vitamin C, that’s good!!
    Dearest Snaggle of one toe dip, I hope yu get a nice full body dip soon. You live in such a great area of the world. It is funny having the pool right by the lake, eh? On Mondays when they shock the pool the lake comes in handy. And of course, the pool is only open in summer, then weekends in September, and that’s it. I like margaritas, as this post tells. I don’t think I’d ever had one until Texas. We used to get frozen ones at a place called “Pinatas” which is now “Lucy’s Cakes.” Those drink on happy hour were $1.50. Was so much fun out on the big deck under those big shady oaks.
    Hey Dear KB, yes indeed. I bet you would have a blast with us down there. eveybody is so friendly, a real community place. You would fit in perfectly with your kick-ass friendly ways.
    Deares Hilary of the Happy Hills, yes, and my commitment to myself in addition to the weekly O.M. is to perform only my NEW songs! None of the previously recorded ones for now. Speaking of the older tunes, now that I’m playing with a pick, I have to learn Sugar Lady and What’ll I Do With Me with that little plastic triangle, which will necessitate a bit of time spent. But what have I except for time!? And yes, who needs perfection?? :) I’ll settle for Good.
    LLCoolestJoe, I would be huddled in a mass in some rubber room if not for my pals. Or maybe in the woods living on a hammock. I actually had a semi margarita yesterday day I made from lime soda pop, the last of my tequila, and a smidge of vodka, vodka we’ve had for like 5 years — same bottle. I do like it with creme de cacoa, creamy-milk and ice. Um, um, White Russian I believe. And I wonder how it gets that name. Sex On The Beach I can see, but White Russian??? :)
    G-Man, and bottoms of bikinis watched by a certain G-Man in Flint, Michigan me imagines. :) :)
    J.D. I anticipate you could most likely swim 10 miles in that cold water and not break a sweat, then bike 26 miles, and run 3?? :) No pool since Key West!? What’s up with that? Tho, having just read Jo’s last comment I can see good reasons for Pool Avoidance. :) Thank you for popping back in. You are a dear, and I have not been out flitting in blogland much of late. Ahhh, poetic ways. What the non-poets are missing in life!!
    Well, hello Dear Jo, is that YOU!?!?!??! Whoooohoooo. Party time. I saw a pic of you today, an oval one and big when I was looking through some precious papers. Writing this epic major cute and wonderful song called “Married Lady” that started out about me, then quickly ended up being a song for my mom!! And I think a good one for the world. And hopefully a Major Cash Cow so I can get my own jet and fly to see all you wonderful people who are too too far away. FREAKING ITALY, MATE!!!!!!!!! Ahhhhh, I’ll be the mist floating in from the sea there, as you sip your yummy drink on a lounger on the beach ‘neath a shady tree. Bathing?? I had a bath last week!!!! :) :) Might wash my hair later today. Got dishes to do now. Again. Just did those freakers 2 days ago!!!
