What would be on YOUR list of things not to rush?
Kelly was 4 when she was a flower girl at Jimbo and Terri’s wedding.
(My old camera was dying then and had taken to turning all light pink.)
Friends, have a Grrrrreat weekend.
Love, Jannie

I agree with your list and would probably add don’t rush visits with older relatives–grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles. They won’t be with you forever. Enjoy them while they are here.

I like the pink! It looks like it’s added through Photoshop. Probably before Photoshop was even a thought in someone’s mind, lol! Love it! And I love your short little poem!
Things to never rush:
Running over gravel (I don’t know, it just came to me, lol)
Blocks of fudge
Watching clouds
Babys first steps
Babys first words
Painting a picture
Climbing a cliff
Hey, you asked. LOL

Dearest Mama Zen — it is now officially confirmed — whichever of you I’ve been wondering about most lately — you appear as First Commenter on my posts!! I swear!!! It’s wonderful. Yes, I remember how funny it made my snow pix look. Pink snow. Of course, I wear a fair bit of pink.
Dearest Daisy — that is a most beautiful thought. Not rushing our time and visits with the elderly. It is so true, and I thank you with my heart and soul for sharing that bit of love with us all.
Dearest Sheila — unless one is wearing protective gear, preferable body armor — good point with your not rushing to run over gravel. You mean EATING blocks of fudge? Or making them? Craving fudge now — and if I had some I’d surely rush to gobble it all up!!!
LOVE all your others too. So sweet. And on that climbing a cliff thing ?? I think I may be so un-rushed as to NEVER try it.

Hi Jannie — the point about not rushing love definitely resonates with me — I know that my own Mama said that I can’t hurry love — no, that I just have to wait. Someone else once also told me that each year I have five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes and that I might as well measure them in love, although I’m still puzzling over what measurement means in that context.

Hi Jannie! I try not to rush ANYthing, but enjoy every delicious moment and watch what unfolds. The older ya get, the more doing this makes sense – tick-tock, tick-tock! Just love everything and everyone, eat right, exercise and have an attitude of gratitude. That’s my recipe and I’m livin’ by it!
Hugs

Dearest Lovely Linda, Yes, it was a digital camera. My second Kodak. Funny how it bit the dust into pink. Yes, and I remember Kelly wearing that dress the Easter before Jimbo and Terri’s wedding. (Wedding was in October.) I’m sure the dress is stored away somewhere here, as I did with so many of her outfits — will have the “After” pix of her daughter in them.
Hey — gotta think ahead for blog posts!!
Hey, Dearest Alice Audrey, sometimes the short ones can say more than my long winding epics.
Hey, Dearest Pat, you got it!! It’s an honor when one of the cats comes and gives me some snuggles, but to force them into it does not happy campers them make. As you know!!
Dearest Joey — yes, I love how I caught her grin, and I’m assuming it was a lucky shot where she’d just turned her head. I forgot how cute her baby teeth were. I LOVE the idea of not rushing writing, and totally agree. If I rush or force it, it does not rise up as beautifully as it does when I catch the wind of inspiration and sail on it.
Dearet Brian — your wife must be a lucky, lucky lady!!!
I agree on coffee too, I have a 16 oz cup every morning, and I sip on it sometimes for 2 hours, as I am Right Now!! Lovin’ the morning java.
Dearest Chris Edgar, wow! And did your sweet mama also add… “You can’t hurry love, no you’ll just have to wait, love don’t come easy — it’s a game of give and take. Trust it, give it time, no matter how long it takes???” If so, she sounds like a very wise and wonderful one. I think that measuring love in that context is putting a love ruler in your heart!? Or in your case, a yardstick to infinity. I do love both those songs!!
Dearest Heaven, which reminds me that heaven must be missing an angel, missing one angel-child ’cause you’re here on my blog right now. I do tend to rush eating when I’m in front of the computer. But….. for the past month I’ve been taking my noon repast out on the back porch, away from my computer, and loving the peaceful time in nature! Such a nice time of the year to be outside here.
Dearest SuZen, yes you strike me as the enlightened type who takes her time and enjoys the good things in life. Gratitude, love, light. You are SUCH a special lady. And hey, Suzen, to follow…. is most of a verse for “Love Will Be The Answer” I settled on this morning. I still have the last 2 lines to write, to lead into the chorus. I think your comment has inspired me. So….for YOU and your attitude of gratitude, here’s the lyric so far……
In this miracle of light where morning follows night
and winter melts to spring
In these molecules of angels’ laughter
I hear childrens’ voices sing
I feel heaven’s power in the oceans and the flowers… (to be continued and very likely to be tweaked…)

Glad the TSA passage was swift. I picture you quick-draw shoes.
And minimal jewelry. Did you dress “up” for flying? I think I shall on my next air junket, whenever that shall be.
I am enjoying this moment. And day. You are traveling to California, right? Sorry, I’ve forgotten.

I love that photo of Kelly! (Well, the entire photo is nice, of course, but Kelly’s expression is adorable there)! I like the pink tint from your end-of-life camera.
Some of the many things not to rush:
* Eating a bowl of New England clam chowder (it’s best to savor it)…
* Driving (no stops in those ticketed hills up yonder/no risking accidents)…
* Warming up a car in the winter “Up North” (best to give it a chance to adjust)
* Aha! I like the “don’t rush life” sentiment from Caity.
* No rushing computers, huh? Oops. I must confess I’m impatient on that one!
* I agree, Jannie, that rushing love is inadvisable.

I think there is an old song about “slow hands.”

Dearest J.D. That is so true! Life is a golden unfolding, a gift mystery here for the enjoying. P.S. So GRRRREAT to see you as always!!
Dearest Jeanne of teh unticked non-rushing heated car hills. I mean forest and plains!! Yes, best not to rush driving. Here it generally takes 5 minutes to warm up the car. Luckily I’m not driving to school this year, whoooooohoooooo. I LOVE NEW ENGLAND CLAM CHOWDER. If it’s done right, it almost beats Thanksgiving dinner. Almost.
Yes, whenever I’ve yelled at my computer it went evern slower, so I replaced doing that with giving it loving “kootchie-koos.” Works!!
Hi Dr. J! And a similar Pointer Sisters sentiment in a song, as I recall. Yes, pink goes the light. have NO idea why.

Ahhhh, Dearest Hilary, you are here and I am feeling my life is complete now. Well, my life IS pretty nicely complete, as you know. But when I see you here, my heart does a little happy dance. Yes, she was so cute in that. And SO small, looking at the length of her limbs now.
Lovey things not to rush, my dear. So sweet. I hope your mom is well today.
The vino sounds very good. Enjoy!! I may have a bit tonight. And will for sure tomorrow.
Enjoy your slice of pumpkin pie BB served you up a few minutes ago on the previous post. He’s now thinking up some kind of new button plan down here inthe “kommints,” so we’ll have to see what’s on his mind with that.
Are you on a dial-up phone Internet, or wireless? Ours gets naughty sometimes too.
Love to you now, and always, Dear Hilary.

Oh Hilreeeeee, you pop in like a bouquet of magic!!
Yes, over here we have “speed humps” for traffic, more commonly known as speed bumps. We have Hump Day — that’s Wednesday. And the verb “to hump,” well… let’s just say, that has to do with “mating,” if you know what I mean.
We are also often “over the hump” for many things we are getting most of done… like me for instance these days with putting up my eBay auctions. Got all my pix taken and organized. After I post this, I’ll start scheduling the 5 auctions for sale. And let the Universe send me my buyers!!
I ate about all I could off the turkey. Then trashed the carcass. I guess I’m a “bad” Jannie for that. Oh well….. can’t do everything this year. Maybe with the Christmas turkey I’ll do soup — and not rush it.
Cold at night here. This week all about 18 C for the highs, nice and sunny, tho. Taking The Hound walking in a little bit. Then maybe yes or no to The Library. Feeling behind on blog reading. But… I guess that’s the story of our lives, these days eh? Still, so many good friends on the Internet — I’ll take them anyday, over pre-blogging life.
No snow yet?? Wot gives??

Thankfully the return to normalish weather … believe it or not – we’ve been at 18 deg C recently too – it dropped today .. amazing and not much lower than 13 degC at night .. very warm for us.
We don’t usually get snow down here – by the sea .. and warmer in the south … but that Weather Man Up there is doing funny things .. I hope we don’t get snow – my car (inherited from my uncle – low mileage Merc – automatic) doesn’t do snow .. and my little legs don’t do hills and snow!! Thankfully the staff get in …
Nor ice for that matter …
The hump .. when someone’s in a badly mood … and lots of other humps … yes I know those sorts …
Lurves to BB and you .. Turkey soup is so good … Hilree xoxoxox

Hilree!! I had no idea there was even one automatic trannied car in all of the UK!!!
That’s a Mercedes? Or Mercury? have you got a Mercury so you can “cruise it up and down the road.” Or something like that, the blues lyric goes. “Gonna buy me a Mercury…”
oh Lord, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz. My friends all drive Smart Cars. I must make amends…”
Yes, a standard tranny does make for better road handling. And better gas mileage. I was driving a standard last week, a Honda Civic. Nice little peppy car for a 4-cyl.
And things that go bump in the night? Especially cars that don’t mind the speed humps.

Hi Jannie .. might I just tell you a little history .. I was driving an Automatic years and years ago … many of them – we had both … my father must have had some money then .. a mini and an Austin Princess with a Rolls Royce engine – them be the British days of the car. Yup got me an old Merc – 11 years old .. but I was driving when my uncle was ill .. and before that when we went places .. I really didn’t want him driving!! Now a Smart car – I’ve always fancied and wanted … I’d have one with different coloured panels – that’s how they came out originally .. so you could ‘palette’ the panels …. and parking must be so easy – especially in this little old country …
Don’t discuss petrol costs – just expensive anyway! But good to have a car that’s reliable and with the awesome reputation of a Merc … there were a lot of old Mercs in southern Africa … just kept on going on .. on dirt roads, or tarmac … et al ..
Jim certainly keeps you supplied in cars … I’d lose it in the parking empires they have! … I can’t do too many humps right now – the springs aren’t in the best of condition I gather .. so another bill coming up … when they go thump – rather than bumping along the road -
GO EBAYING … then walking … see you another day .. xoxoxox Hilree

Ahh, suspension probs. Rack and pinion?
An Austin Princess, sounds like Kelly, she would most likely have her Smart Car with every single panel in a different color of the palette!
Petrol, let’s go solar!
Or teletransport!
