You Are Thankful

Thankful

You are thankful for the smoke of stars

that twirled itself into the ones you love

and whirled itself into the sun that rises

daily to yodel at the blue plumbago.

————————

You are thankful for the rivers of pancake batter

pouring from the Big Dipper into your frying pan,

then thru your veins to the leaves of your hands

tapping out fortune cookie whispers on the wind.

———————–

You are thankful for these miracles of molecules

dog paddling happily from friendship shore to

shore, to alight on sunset beaches where we all

will be dancing and laughing together forever.

photoshopped

You are also thankful for photoshop to prettify your pix…

:)

for your poetry angels at dVerse — Open Link Tuesday, week 19 now…

and for all your other blogging and Real Life loved ones.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Friends!!

I’ll be back posting here next week.

*chuckles* Good old photoshop. Always there to help hone the point.

As to the poem, “that twirled itself into the ones you love

and whirled itself into the sun that rises” – those lines struck a smile in me, right there at the very beginning. Pretty language, visual, entertaining, and upbeat. A perfect piece for the season!

Jannie iz back, and happee to be heer, with her headache about 97% lifted!!!!!

Thank you Dearest Natasha, and can you believe I actually wrote this in like 20 minutes! Faster than my usual poetry fare. Alright Jannie under time constraint!!! :)

Dearest Shawna — hi!! Yes, my daughter (that’s here with her dad about 9 years ago,) eats pancakes EVERY morning! I like them too, but once in a while have scrambled eggs. :0

Ahhhh, thank you Dearest Kelly, GREAT name, btw!!! :) I do like that line and thought too. I think if I’d had 30 minutes I coulda gotten a better 3rd verse. :) Was in recording studio last night. Up too late. Then napped this morning. By 1:30 when I thought I’d write a poem, it was just 30 mins out from the dVerse linking. Maybe next week I’ll have a spiffier 3rd v. :)

Dearest Kellie — thank you, thank you soooo much. And I think I’m almost a poet now. :)

Dearest Brian, and I hope YOU and YOURS have a fabulous holiday!!!!! Yes, amazing when we think of the Big Bang forward, and what has brought us here. Holy cow.

Dearest DayDreamer, those have been my exact words to friends lately — grateful to have a warm home and good food. Grilling steak tomorrow, yummy!!! Was in the 80s the past 2 days here, but now slipping into chilliness again.

Dearest Sara, well if YOU insist I guess I’ll try to keep my spirits bright for the holiday!! But only for YOU, okay?? :) You have a great one too, Doll. Me likey the special photoshopping tools!!!! Not that I had anything against any of those peeps in the background I painted out, mind you!!!

Sheila Dearest — ain’t they both soooooooo cute!!???!!! I can tell Kelly was not having much of the sitting and posing. She was obviously wanting to be off and running, which I’m sure she did as soon as I snapped the pic. :) Could hardly keep up with that one!

Dearest Fred, yes, nothing like pancakes from the Big Dipper!! :) And the never-ending supply is astonishing. Oh, and we get our maple syrup from the jug of Aquarius. And coffee from all the heavens. :)

Dearest Heaven — well, I’m getting better with painting things out the longer I do it. I work with Corel Paint Pro — only about $60!! I highly recommend trying it out. And hey, you and I know the REAL Thanksgiving is actually in mid-October, rigtht??!! :) :)

Deares Alice Audrey — I know!! Lazy, eh?? :) Well, I thought it would look plausible he did have a backpack — making it seem almost NOT photoshopped. :) :) And you make me smile, you know!????!!

Dearest Chris G. How did I ever possibly survive and function in life pre- photoshopping???? Finally got hip to it in spring, 2010. Whooohoooo. Hope you have an awesome Thanksgiving!!!!!

You are probably the only family
in Austin that will include beer
    and donuts in your Thanksgiving
fare, but then you have always
led the way to levity and love
for so many of us spread across
the country, and the globe, who
do a daily pilgrimage to Funsterland
to put that smile in our morning,
that dazzle in our afternoon, or
that pat on the head in the middle
    of the night. I love the line;
    /dancing and laughing together forever/
for if that doesn’t sum up what’s it’s
like to be in the funster posse, I don’t
    know what does.

Dearest Pat Hatt, well as a matter of fact, yes, I would LOVE to trade for a little snow or a lot. But then can I switch back to Austin temps? :)

Margaret Dearest, I am not me without my 16 oz java in the a.of m. Cream and sugar for me, just a touch of sweet. Oh, I also have maple syrup dripping from my eyes in the morning. :)

And Dearest Ayala, to you too, all of the above and aforementioned goodnesses!! And then some.

Dearest Lance, sis-boom-bah. rah-rah-rah. gratitude is never a flaw. I think I’ll probably skip the ice cream for EXTRA whipped cream. yum, yum, yum. Wine, yes indeed. White, I’m thinking. Hope you all fave a great one too!!!!!

Dearest Daisy, SO glad to hear you like your swims here. Do you submerge with snorkel too, so you never have to worry about air when you are immersed in my poems? :) Best to you and yours too, Sweetie!!!

Dearest Shashi so so far away across 2 oceans and a couple of seas… thanks!!! And all my fortune cookie wisdom says things like “drink beer daily.” “you will meet someone awesome in the mirror,” and “laugh at least 10 times today.”

Why Dearest Jackie Dick, Funsterland is so so so pleased and honored to see you here again. Thanks so much!! And Happy Turkey day to you too!!!!! I fell all fat and happy already just thinking about it.

Dearest M.A.S. who has graced my page… let me guess, without clicking over to your blog… M.A.S. stands for Most Awesome Soul??!! :) Well, thank you so very very extra much!! So happy to meet you via dVerse!

Dearest Hilary — words well said indeed, no matter how bad we may think things are slipping sometimes, we are blessed beyond compare. Actually, I think things are not really slipping too much, but ever getting better and gold unfolding more each day. Hugs to you all too!!!!!!!!!! have you ever had pumpkin pie with whipped cream?? IT IS AMAZINGLY DIVINE!!!!

Dearest Beautiful, Special, Wonderful, Incomparably Awesome Lynn… thanks!! I AM pretty darn lucky indeed!! Happy and safe travels. Enjoy the 40 other folks.

Hi Dearest Gene! How are you? Had to fish you out of comment moderation there. Glad I did!! Well thanks, there is a Big Picture, I do believe. One of light and love incomprehensible!

Dearest SuZen, why thank you, Dear Lady. And I will the same for you and your family this non-GMO and non-chemicalized holdiday. And always!!

Well, Glenn, Glenn, Glenn, I actually think that just for ONE day in my Funstering Existence, I shall forego the beer for wine, and donuts for pumpkin pie buried in whipped cream. :) And I am SO THANKFUL for you, and the rest of my faithful, loving, laughing posse!! Well, I am SO GLAD you like that line. I feel great now. And want to know MY favorite line?? The one about the sun rising daily to yodel at the blue plumbago. Cracks me up that one. (The blue flowers behind Jim are plumbago.)

Well, wait….. I have an idea. I think I did this last year too in a comment. Let’s see how this works, after I punch in the code. I think it WILL! And before that, let me say… YOU are AWESOME!!!!!

And here goes with the pie, the full-size on BB’s header, before he slopped on the whipped cream. He makes his cream with a touch of vanilla flavor and a tad of nice powdered sugar.
