Two Teeny Flying Bugs

two teeny flying bugs

are square dancing

on my laptop screen

here this afternoon.

The smaller gnat

must be the girl.

She’s quite the

jaunty jumper,

making sure to

keep her feet

always within

the pixels, like

a child avoiding

sidewalk cracks.

The male is off

my screen now

– gone to fetch

beer I imagine.

:)

This is for The G-Man, fiction in 55 words.

square dance photo belongs to Jim Osborne, square dance caller.

Enchanted to speak with you again!

AYALA! Why thank you, Sugar Pumpkin.

MARGARET!!! I do like how this one popped out. I had lots of fun communing with those little dancers.

G-Man. So sorry to hear you are sick and weak. Sounds like the flu? Take good care, and thanks for popping in when you were not feeling well.

PAT!! I swear the littler cat probably eats more bugs than kibble. takes care of the occasional roach, useful little thang.

BRIAN!! LOL. I can’t imagine YOU take too many naps, you sound like you’re always on the go.

IZZY! Hoppingly Hopeful — I like THAT!!!! And were you too shy today to leave a link? :)

LYNN!! Yes, they did indeed. Lovely yellow satin outfits, with a bit of a matador theme.

Hi Jannie .. great beer bugs .. but they do love a good beer – and I expect those four squarers do too when they’ve finished their dancing .. I’ll get up and dance with the little flies when they next come calling and perhaps entice them into the kitchen for a glass of wine?!

Cheers and I too hope Gman feels better soon .. the English used to survive because of the beer they drank – perhaps he should do the same .. cup of tea time for me .. Hilree xoxoxo

    Oh you lovely lovely people.

I just ate a chicken pot pie. Isn’t that wonderful??

Also, I changed my guitar strings all by my little lonesome a few weeks ago. AND I swept part of a floor.

But back to the square dancing gnats…

Dearest Leslie, I have never been more enchanted by a comment. I should think a song called Leslie would have a protagoniste in Moulin Rouge satin shining as the lead in the chorus line. She would also look stunning in moonlight. AND be one hell of a cook. :)

Dearest Other Mary… speaking of whom… who IS the OTHER Mary. :) That being said, thankfully the screen remained dry. A few beer nut crumbs fell between s few of the keys, but nothing I couldn’t vacuum out quickly.

Dearest ONE AND ONLY Hilary… Speaking of wine and flies….. I just now had about y6 oz with my chicken pot pie, nice quailty both, and a fruite fly appeared from NOWHERE to partake. HOW do they do that??? Just materialize out of thick air? (It’s a bit muggy here.) Thinking of hitting the A/C for a moment. I think a party with those four squarers would be a time to remember. The man in the black trousers with the black hat looks like a jokester to me. Yeah, I hope G-Man is better soon too. A very good friend of his died this week, and it really set him back, as it would. Cheers. Cup0 of tea sounds GOOD right now, since I’ve no more wine.

Ahhh, but lovelies, I really need to put on the A/C. Will return with the moon is in the house of Capricorn rising to Mercury’s fancy.

DEAREST MYRA AND MYRNA — you are BOTH so awesome and fun to behold. Maybe the flies are helping me write too? Be nice if they hopped up and did my dishes once in a while. :)

DEAREST NARA MALONE — Ahhh, bet she looks so cute in that. No gnats here today. No fruitflies either. ‘Course I’m drinking water, not wine. But shouldst wine appear so would the Drosophila immediately.

DEAREST ED PILLOLA — Well….. I AM a board-certified FUNster. I mean funstress. “Expert,” :) that is. And trained since The Big Bang in the art of Light — as are you! I still think of your poem line about you on your third piece of pie after midnight — some images just stick with you, eh?

DEAREST MAMA ZEN — why thank you. I do kind of like how this one shaped up. We did square dance in 7th grade. Mr. Henderson was our teacher.

DEAREST MARY D who has slipped out from behind the gold satin curtain again to delight me with a visit… I think a champagne guy would be my favorite! Or at least one who appreciates a lady who loves champagne. Speaking of which, I am very lucky to be married to just such a guy. He does not imbibe alcohol any more and has not for almot 10 years, but I do love a fine cheap bubbly when I can afford it. In those little 4-packs, to have 1 or 2 at a go, so as not to waste half a bottle of perfectly good cheap Brut Korbel. :)

DEAREST LYDIA — well, tho these days it’s a challenge even to afford the hosting fee for this site — I manage to scrape it up monthly so I can splash my poems, photoshopped bunny, songs and such for the world to see!! :) If we have not art, what have we? Tied of course, with LOVE for first place of life necessities.

I was a Garden City Square dancer all thru High school, n had a 1000 call certificate. I’ll be darned if I can remember them all now- but do remember the “Ocean Wave” one was cool to do. My Partner was the guy who had a summer home where I live now. We did the square dancing with his dad n bride. We did alot of old Folk Dancing too, n went to NEMA Festivals.
I bet there’s a big TX TO-DO following for dancing there, huh? I must say I really hate those poofy pedicoat skirts tho-

I came by for some funster inspiration and got some for sure. Your poems reminds me of this one I wrote some time ago:
A Flea takes off from my runway desk
How do I know it’s not working for Delta
with little flea passengers buckled up inside
booked for vacation on some dog or cat paradise
and my hand isn’t inclement weather?
